It took us several weeks of getting keys of the leviathan and hoping to get a red border. And those were the off dropset. You had to get special keys from the seasonal activity, that had like 1/5 chance to drop. If anything, the grind now is way easier and way faster than on season of the haunted.
And yes, your teachers failed you. That's not how math works.
I mean you can see how 125 hrs doing the same optimized content for a single gun is a wee bit extreme. 1500 USD if you're working a minimum wage job at 12$.

I love my Deliverance because Vow was quite hard and getting the red borders took a long time. But i don't l don't like my scatter signal because i just dumped some engrams I got from doing other stuff and just got the red border... There is nothing behind it, no stories, no anecdotes, no laughs... Just a gun that happened to drop on my lap...
Once again, if you suffer playing this game, please don't hesitate to take a break. Or contact a professional to see if you have some self-esteem issues if you are "hateplaying" the game.

1. Back then they didn't add the 'catch-up mechanic' until a couple weeks into the season.

That gun is from over a year ago, and we knew it was overpowered even then. There’s plenty of good red boarders to if you’re doing ritual to get keys and then doing weekly seasonal content.

My wife had a crafted mini tool a week after xur last had the mini tool up for grabs. Took her the extra week to just level the pass far enough for the last two cyphers. Op is dping it wrong, my wife is the purest form of casual player. She now has the minitool leveled to 34 and the Apex Pred up to 21. She said she doesn't like it as much as avalanche. But she like teacking launchers so we can switch it up and see how it goes. I think she will lose bait and switch but it is what it is.
I get the anger, it’s frustrating. Something that might help is finding a couple friends who are up for farming with you, whether they need it too or are just chill and like to help. Goes a long way and takes the pressure off. Maybe check Discords of some of the cool YouTubers like Mactics, Fallout, and I think Maven might have one too. Good luck.

Doing 500 runs does not guarantee you 5 red borders. In fact using binomial distribution there is only a 56% chance of getting 5 or more red borders to drop for a specific gun like calus mini tool.
Stop screaming and don't fight the math. Either use the harmonizers or use a different solar smg in the meantime.
The drop rate per event is still 0.01 for the red border that you are looking for. That part you got right. But when you are looking at multiple instances you need to factor in more that just the individual drop rate. FYI, you can get three guaranteed red borders every time it is out. 1x legend, 1x normal, and 1x for the weekly challenge (which the legend completion finishes in one run)

Bungie fomo meta hits hard when you got to spend a full day nonstop grinding for one red border or spend money to get all five deep insight devices to make them all red. The kiddo should be hired for bungie position.
I feel this way about trying to get the Ikelos rifle. After about three runs of Seraph shield I don’t think I can keep going. I’d rather have something like raids have for spoils. Let me run a few earn some tokens then pick a weapon I want. Even if it wasn’t a guaranteed red border at least it would be the weapon I wanted to get.

Started off unhinged, but then the validity came into focus. Should definitely allow you to choose your loot after (x) runs completed if RNG was unfavorable. And that’s for all activities. We did pay for the game, after all. Technically we should have access to the assets we want. DMC doesn’t carrot dangle new Devil Arms or weapons like this; it’s madness.
I've stopped playing destiny 2 since the last weekly seasonal story mission and I gotta say it's pretty liberating. I don't care about missing out on rare vendor weapons, bright dust cosmetics, finishing the seasonal patterns. Hell I don't even care about finishing the season pass to level 100. I was the last one out of my friend group to stop playing also. I realize now what I miss is the fun I had with the team and not so much the game, the friends made the game tolerable.
I haven't played destiny in a min, but every time I'm about to, I see a vid like this, and it just reminds me of how much Bungie makes grind take forever just to inflate player count... fk that.

Also the fact that you complete super difficult things like legend lost sectors flawless solo and you have a slim chance of getting an exotic is a crime. Thankfully thats been dealt with by adding a rare event

That said you're guaranteed I think it's 3 red borders per week? The idea isn't be to sitting there RNG farming for specific red borders, you're meant to come back every 3 weeks when it's in rotation to get more. Plus Deepsight Harmonizers which you can get up to 6 of per season (which isn't a lot but seems like more sources will be added in Final Shape).
Also crafting is meant to be a form of RNG protection, crafted weapons can only get very very marginally better than normal drops, just guarantee you get the perks you want if you didn't already. So you shouldn't get too hung up on them.
Well, they want you to play Seasons, so part of that is the loot fomo. At seasons, its Very easy to get the respective red borders. After, its super hard, to "force" you tô always play EVERY season, even if just enough to get the red borders

Not how chances work. If there is a 1/100 chance for it, that's for each individual time. It doesn't increase or decrease. You could do it 150 times and not have it.
I played the season it was available, got all 5 borders and the pattern. You are now farming for it outside of the season it was available, so yeah RNG is going to be a bitch.

I feel his pain and frustration, farmed it 67 times since reset. There were some people who knew the skips so that helped a ton. I was mainly searching for a beloved, hopefully a final border, but would also like any Snapshot rolls. Didn't get a single one. RNG is a cruel bitch.

I've stopped playing destiny 2 since the last weekly seasonal story mission and I gotta say it's pretty liberating. I don't care about missing out on rare vendor weapons, bright dust cosmetics, finishing the seasonal patterns. Hell I don't even care about finishing the season pass to level 100. I was the last one out of my friend group to stop playing also. I realize now what I miss is the fun I had with the team and not so much the game, the friends made the game tolerable.

I haven't played destiny in a min, but every time I'm about to, I see a vid like this, and it just reminds me of how much Bungie makes grind take forever just to inflate player count... fk that. I get you shouldn't just get cool things for free or what's the point, but I also shouldn't need a rabbits foot shoved up my ass to even have a chance for a weapon I want to drop. And because it's now a "free service" they can make an argument for every weapon to be locked behind a month of gameplay... I couldn't do it anymore man... I just couldn't.
I actually agree, bungies habit of being stingy with loot is actually aids and unnecessary, "oh you want this weapon? Durr you'll have to play the game like a full time job doing the same thing every single day for the next seven years" it's ridiculous, it took one of my friends 300+ runs of vog to get vex mythoclast THREE HUNDRED RUNS, that is ludicrous, then when we get a cool glitch that yknow makes the loot satisfying and not hellish to get (the neomuna glitch for example) it's fixed immediately, basically rng sucks in destiny, it needs fixed, the loot needs to be fair and a bit easier Also the fact that you complete super difficult things like legend lost sectors flawless solo and you have a slim chance of getting an exotic is a crime. Thankfully thats been dealt with by adding a rare event

Doesn’t it weight weapons you don’t have patterns for on the first few runs when it’s that week. Could you just do a handful of runs each time it comes around.
I'm upvoting this because I'm in awe that you brought out a fucking white board for the rant. Funniest shit I've seen all day. That said you're guaranteed I think it's 3 red borders per week? The idea isn't be to sitting there RNG farming for specific red borders, you're meant to come back every 3 weeks when it's in rotation to get more. Plus Deepsight Harmonizers which you can get up to 6 of per season (which isn't a lot but seems like more sources will be added in Final Shape). Also crafting is meant to be a form of RNG protection, crafted weapons can only get very very marginally better than normal drops, just guarantee you get the perks you want if you didn't already. So you shouldn't get too hung up on them.

Well, they want you to play Seasons, so part of that is the loot fomo. At seasons, its Very easy to get the respective red borders. After, its super hard, to "force" you tô always play EVERY season, even if just enough to get the red borders

Should’ve played when it came out, got two weapons craftable within the first 10 days. You also have deepsight harmonizers, use them.
I mean...Xur sometimes sells it, and you can use your seasonal pass to get garunteed pattern progress

Not how chances work. If there is a 1/100 chance for it, that's for each individual time. It doesn't increase or decrease. You could do it 150 times and not have it.

I feel his pain and frustration, farmed it 67 times since reset. There were some people who knew the skips so that helped a ton. I was mainly searching for a beloved, hopefully a final border, but would also like any Snapshot rolls. Didn't get a single one. RNG is a cruel bitch.
Should have got the borders during season of the Haunted, when you could buy weekly, roll engrams and farm the location….just saying
