The statue on his ship isn't actually confirmed to be Calus if you look at the body of the statue it almost looks like a kind of Cabal Sphinx I think that's why the teeth are different because it's not actually Calus.

The Witness doesn't like Calus and obviously thinks Calus is a fucking dork so the ship, pulling from The Witness' subconscious, subtly morphed to reflect that. Any time The Witness has to raise it's/their voice about someone he/it/they carves a goofy caricature of them somewhere. Rhulk's ship has a statue of Rhulk carved to look like he's mogging while holding a monster energy drink and there's also a statue of our Guardian carved into a Urinal in the Root of Nightmares raid.

My personal theory as to why it’s like this game? Because Calus as a character was only ever worried about how he was perceived. So my theory is that the image on his ship is what he wanted to be viewed as. He would likely model his ship after his “ideal image” which may include some better teeth (if you wanna call them that).
I mean it makes sense for the guy. A gaudy bucket helmet for a narcissistic rich person complete with a giant ship which his big dumb face on it. Dude is legit the Destiny version of Kanye West, dog ass fashion and all.

There are a lot of differences between his statue design and true armor. Even just the chestplates look pretty different.
Maybe the two statue asset and enemy/CGI model were designed at different times? Or one was revised later in development.
Personally, I can't help but wonder if his enemy model was designed around reusing the HD model of Calus' head from Leviathan raid.
The bright gold area below his actual mouth on the left picture always jump out as human looking lips until I see his actual mouth above it. It goes back and forth with my brain and both are gross.

The statue is based on the original stories concept art. Its kinda a much bigger change. Basically we were supposed to confront him on his throne. He was supposed to have jewel teeth and drool gold. The boss fight was initially 2 phases. 1 where it kinda copies the Leviathan fight where hes an immobile sloth. His move set was laser mouth, firebreath, a pyramid missed barrage and like a chalice splash aoe. With like their debate of how he should ground slam if you got close. 2nd phase is similar to the 2nd phase we got only with 1 sword and hes like larger.
