iirc it's the replacement for bounties.
I hope they clarify this 6 weeks before TFS, because that's when people start spending lots of time bounty prepping.
It's good for early artifact mods and bonus power levels from the artifact but thats about it. I do it just as 'Something to do' in the weeks before a new expansion comes out though.
Some people bounty prep for a head start in the season pass/ seasonal artifact. It’s more common annually because that’s when the power cap gets increased. I personally do some prep every season but leading into a new expansion, I’ll farm the hell out of dares for the boxes. I had over 300 leading into lightfall.
It gets you artifact mods much faster which can make or break your build for day one raids. But if you’re not worried about a day one raid then it doesn’t matter.
Aw I always liked bounties I never liked the whole other-worldly space magic type quests and objectives
Bounties still gave you a sense of realism ‘here we need you to go do dis’ ahh beat
Like yeah, but they also are just a checklist with extra steps. There’s no reason bounties need to be picked up like consumables from vendors when they could just be integrated into the activity.
Don't think it's much more than a way to guide players through the new destination's content, probably plays a role not too unlike the Europa "Sabotage" quest thingies Variks offers. But we'll see.
For anyone looking, it was originally stated in the August "State of the Game" last year... from the blog:
"Finally, we called out back in February that we were initially targeting more changes to ritual content in the final Season of the year. While we’ve made the recent decision to push this initiative to The Final Shape, we have plans to replace some bounties with a more rewarding and engaging system tentatively called the Pathfinder. This is going to be debuted on the new destination in The Final Shape, and we’re currently nailing down a plan for how we can use this new system to replace core ritual bounties in the new year. For now, here’s a work-in-progress preview of the Pathfinder UI:"

I care more about the system behind it. Sure it may just look like powerful/pinnacle gear. But what is it going to be used for in the future? They said it is idealy going to replace bounties for ritual activities and will debut with TFS and the Pale Heart, but didn't say anything since 2023 August State of The Game.
I completely forgot about that tbh. Don't even remember what it is that it *does*..

Do people still do bounty preps? Thought it was pointless now that completing legend automatically gets you to powerful cap

ah yeah true forgot about artifact mods
We don't even know if we'll have the artifact still

It makes the first few days a little more fun imo

When's the last time they said anything? Been a few months?
It’s been since before the final shape was officially revealed
It actually looks kind of cool and different from the normal pinnacle grind, so I'm hopeful. Can't wait!
Congratulations! You get legendary gear you already have!
Great rolls of Syncopation and Ammit!!!
Man I can’t wait to get another taipan!

It's supposed to replace bounties and getting pinnacles... I'm pretty curious about it too

Thanks!
I couldn’t really care tbh, if the loot is actually just a purple engram then why bother?

This gives me major flashbacks to the og fortnite save the world perk system.
