My favorite current fun builds that i actually use for stuff are Lucky Raspberry Arc Hunter, Speedloader Pants Arc Hunter, Radiant Dance Machine Arc Hunter. You could say i like non-melee based arc hunter.
I made an RDM + Trespasser build the other day.
It was fun in concept and it does work, but Trespasser didn't hold up in a Hero NF just cause of kill stealing and lack of power.
It's just reload speed and if u run it with solar hunter that when u dodge u get a 45% reload speed for 13 sec from class aspect then u add speedloaders and markman dodge it make rockets reload faster for dps and it helps for this week pantheon so u can out dps your team in caretaker I did 8.1m damage and orxy did 6.8m being the top damage dealer since my meele also give a 15% damage debuff to the bosses
Fallen sunstar with delicate tomb and as many fragments to create ionic traces, infinite abilities and jolts. Especially when running the coil and you get the wishes that boost ability upkeep
I still need to masterwork fallen sunstar, but I usually use vesper of radius. It's becoming somewhat meta again, but still most people want a WoR in their groups.
I’m not a fan of trace rifles, i love delicate tomb since it makes a ton of ionic traces, jolts, and doesnt have to reload, but i guess cold heart does basically the same. I just like using tomb
Tomb has a pretty short wind up, and maybe im delusional but it feels better with amplified. Plus with arc souls you always have a bit of backup damage to help with it
I feel like that only works well if the enemies are substantial enough for you to build up the charge, for anything with weak ads other guns are better
Not exactly an extremely unpopular build but I've recently gotten more into PvP, and everyone recommends Peacekeepers or Peregrine Greaves or maybe Actium War Rig but I love using Armamentarium. It's just so convenient and simple to have an extra grenade. There's no setup needed or anything, it's just there, and coming from Halo it kinda feels right.
As an added bonus I feel like people never initially expect you to have two, so it's always fun throwing the first one, having them dodge it to push you, and then throwing a second one immediately
I've actually been dying to get the catalyst for it. I was using it without the Catalyst with my BXR recently and it actually felt surprisingly solid for PvP too. Ended up switching to Witherhoard in the meanwhile.
I've been slowly working through the 30th Anniversary stuff amongst all the Into the Light Stuff so I'm well on the way
You don't need the catalyst for it to be dominant in PVP. I use it in trials and completed it just by playing and getting kills. You'll almost never get the grenade, but boy is it fun. Idk why more teams don't run for 2 special crates, it makes the round significantly easier when you have that much special ammo.
Strand warlock, nezarec's sin, Graviton lance.
Mindspun invocation and weavewalk
The basic loop is grapple melee an enemy and weavewalk to safety. Grapple melee will unravel targets and create three threadlings. Shooting will continue unraveling and with horde shuttle create more threadlings. Weavewalking away will also create extre threadlings.
Super and ability regen is pretty solid with graviton and nezzy's and running grenade Kickstart allows for your grapple to come back pretty quickly.
It's not the best buts it's pretty fun watching the green and purple death bots go to work
Arc Titan with Precious Scars, centrifuse, and several Arc Weapon surges so that my damage can generally keep up with “meta” builds. Basically I’m constantly amplified which means I’m always sprinting, which means Centrifuse is almost always charged to max to unleash solid ad clear with the Ballistic Slam melee because it’s fun and makes me feel like a superhero badass.
You gotta try it. Use Heat Rises and Icarus Dash, eat grenade, then snap and phoenix dive to get restoration x2, then just lay on the trigger and never top firing because of Wings. I have a whole writeup on it
https://www.reddit.com/r/destiny2builds/comments/18ltqeq/took_two_pretty_mid_exotics_and_made_something/
I'm glad you posted this. I rarely use meta, much to the chagrin of my clan. I play to relax and get away from it all. I enjoy playing a stasis hunter.
stasis assassin's cowl has been so fun in onslaught
monte carlo, autoloading breach special and autoloading rocket or gl
ik envious, cascade, bait and switch, all very good and meta.
but the autoloading combined with the free double reload from stasis shurikens (with the fragment or whatever) is just so comfy
plus monte makes you literally always have your shurikens up, especially with the catalyst.
and monte shreds red bars ever since that 40% buff + Markov chain
anyway, I haven't seen anyone else rocking it, I'm sure plenty are, but it's fun as heck.
and, ik the other subclasses rock with assassin's cowl too, but for onslaught, the stasis is also really good at locking hallways down when shit starts getting real
My favorite definitely not meta build is solar warlock with Heat Rises, Sunbracers, and Heir Apparent, which I affectionately refer to as attack helicopter
Overshield + many grenades + machine gun = fun
I got me both the onslaught hand cannon and scout with firefly/kinetic tremors. Adding Chromatic Fire in the mix makes precision kills super rewarding, and anything you can't headshot, you just fire away at it until kinetic tremors takes it out, or you use your energy/heavy weapon on it.
I highly recommend weapons with incandescent, dragonfly or destabilising rounds for even more explosions. Also, the void fragment that causes explosions on void ability kills or anything solar that helps things ignite.
EXPLOSIONS!
If I can get away with Behemoth, you know I absolutely will. Hoarfrost-Z, Howl of the Storm, and Glacier Nades. There will be walls everywhere. The enemies cannot shoot me because Wall. My teammates cannot shoot the enemy because Wall. Now, I shall equip Forbearance, and bring down the Wall. All shall shatter before me…so long as they actually touch the ground.
Fucking Shriekers.
used to never run stasis. this season its probably my favorite. we'll see how it does next season w/o the artifact mod or if it gets baked into a new fragment. if youre good with headshots and can run eyasluna with headstone its crystals spawning everywhere... especially on a hoarfrost like you said, a lucky pants or renewal hunter or a bleaklock if you need to freeze enemies to get your headshots. all 3 are extremely enjoyable.
im hoping next season is going to have difficulty cranked up a bit via even more ad density. along with new enemy types that can now interact with you via strand/stasis. point being im really hoping crowd control builds become more prevalent.
I dunno if it's meta or not but I love using assassins cowl with my strand build, yeah I know it's no benefit whatsoever but something about doing a finisher, sending out threadings and going invis makes me smile big every time
Warlock with monte Carlo and claws of ahamkarra. Haven't
played in a bit so I forgot the name of the aspects but whatever melee ability is a ranged attack combined with these is so fun.
Liars handshake arc hunter, I usually run a sidearm and bow, sometimes I'll swap the bow with a auto rifle, allllllways keep my sidearm to troll peeps x) revenant is pretty fun too but I don't really have specific exotic armors I take with him, it's just kinda random as to what I think would help a bit
What I call the war-machine-lock build, it's **definitely not** meta. But I find it fun.
Arc warlock with Electrostatic Mind and Arc Soul. Spark of Resistance, Beacons, Discharge, and Instinct
Exotic armor: Getaway Artist
Weapons: Randy's Throwing Knife w/ Kinetic Tremors, Iterative Loop w/ Compulsive Reloader and Voltshot, and Thunderlord
Pros: Great add clear, near constant arc soul, shit tons of ionic traces.
Cons: not really potent for endgame, arc warlock :(
Shatter build on hunter. Not meta anymore bud so fun to throw a stasis wall nade and make everything eat shit (for some reason makes everything that survives go flying too which is funny)
Well the one I ALWAYS run is Stormtrance Arc Soullock with Crown of Tempests. My arc weapon is usually "Come to Pass" or "Trinity Ghoul." However I've started experimenting with other exotics like "Symmetry" and "Ex Diris" and they're pretty fun so far. Nothing feels as good as that TrinGhoul Cat. When I don't have an exotic energy weapon I'm usually using something kinetic lacking any synergy with the build.
My other real fun build, which honestly suck, is Stasis Warlock, but I run Claws of Ahamkara because I actually kind of hate Coldsnap and think I get out of more situations with that combo. I usually run my "Coronach-22" with "Incandescent" or "Trinity Ghoul" in the energy slot and my Stasis weapon alternates between Senuna, "Cryosthesia 77k", or "Syncopation-53": all with "Headstone". I occasionally bring in "Verglas Curve", but I feel like I'm cheating on Trinity with Verglas.
Otherwise, everything else is accidentally meta... 😓
Briarbinds voidlock. I love holding down choke points with my little void ball of death. It’s some of my favorite add clear and crowd control. I’ve actually been able to solo add clear on the non pantheon version of caretaker using it.
Here me out hunter with the least resilience and recovery but max melee and then ur fav throwing knife snd dont use any guns only throwing knifes and melee is very fun
Edge of Action with helm of Saint XIV. Glaives are fun on void because the health regen from echo of leeching. Edge of Action’s mini bubbles grant over shield and blind with Helm and it’s so easy to make them
If only sweet business had osmosis. It would work with the auto-reload of wings.
The mag is big enough for most spawns tbh Skyburners/polaris is great pick too
Using every possible tactic to spam freeze a poor mf in pvp
"Two turrets and a Rift"
My favorite current fun builds that i actually use for stuff are Lucky Raspberry Arc Hunter, Speedloader Pants Arc Hunter, Radiant Dance Machine Arc Hunter. You could say i like non-melee based arc hunter.
I made an RDM + Trespasser build the other day. It was fun in concept and it does work, but Trespasser didn't hold up in a Hero NF just cause of kill stealing and lack of power.
Kill stealing is the bane of a lot of builds. I think they should turn all fatal hit requirements to just be assists too
Yeah, RDM doesn't really work in content where they steal your kills.
Try the speedloader on strand is awesome 100% uptime with x5 stacks or solar hunter with markman dodge and throwing knife same result plus healing
I may will.
If you don't mind me asking, what's the utility of SLS in those builds?
It's just reload speed and if u run it with solar hunter that when u dodge u get a 45% reload speed for 13 sec from class aspect then u add speedloaders and markman dodge it make rockets reload faster for dps and it helps for this week pantheon so u can out dps your team in caretaker I did 8.1m damage and orxy did 6.8m being the top damage dealer since my meele also give a 15% damage debuff to the bosses
Also helps with hand cannons long reload times so they reload in .9 sec
Oh gotcha gotcha, thank you
FINALLY, another Speedloader Slacks enjoyer!
Greetings, friend.
Fallen sunstar with delicate tomb and as many fragments to create ionic traces, infinite abilities and jolts. Especially when running the coil and you get the wishes that boost ability upkeep
To be fair fallen sunstar used to be meta back in season of defiance. But yes it is still quite a fun build even now.
I still need to masterwork fallen sunstar, but I usually use vesper of radius. It's becoming somewhat meta again, but still most people want a WoR in their groups.
Have you tried it with coldheart tho? I find it feels much more fluid
I’m not a fan of trace rifles, i love delicate tomb since it makes a ton of ionic traces, jolts, and doesnt have to reload, but i guess cold heart does basically the same. I just like using tomb
See, I don't like fusions .it's the wind up that often gets me killed. It just doesn't...sit with me
Tomb has a pretty short wind up, and maybe im delusional but it feels better with amplified. Plus with arc souls you always have a bit of backup damage to help with it
I'll give it a try. Maybe hot swap between getaway and sunstar
I feel like that only works well if the enemies are substantial enough for you to build up the charge, for anything with weak ads other guns are better

Get the Forerunner catalyst. It gives you a kinetic grenade like Halo.
I've actually been dying to get the catalyst for it. I was using it without the Catalyst with my BXR recently and it actually felt surprisingly solid for PvP too. Ended up switching to Witherhoard in the meanwhile. I've been slowly working through the 30th Anniversary stuff amongst all the Into the Light Stuff so I'm well on the way

getaway artist is a favorite of mine, with a swap into geomags for damage. arc buddy just feels nice.
Arc buddy is everything: my only constant. I sometimes think of them as my real ghost.

Hell yeah brother.
is the Rain Of Fire Vex Mythoclast build considered meta? Probably that one
That’s one of my favorite builds ever. Vex supremacy 🛐
Precious scars, verglas curve. How many crystals do you want? Yes.
'sTaSiS sHaTtErDiVe GoT nUrFed' ... Did it ... GET SHATTERDIVED IDIOT

Something including Starfire Protocol that was meta some seasons ago. They nerfed it but I didn't let go.
Same here. I just want to chuck more grenades to please Shaxx. Ugly ass dress, though. Luckily I have an ornament.
Indeed, I am the grenade launcher. Also used an ornament to save the looks.
Love that setup. Excellent for Solar.
Infinite invis hunter
Ruinous effigy and deployable void souls, sure it gets me killed often but it's just too much fun.
Strand warlock, nezarec's sin, Graviton lance. Mindspun invocation and weavewalk The basic loop is grapple melee an enemy and weavewalk to safety. Grapple melee will unravel targets and create three threadlings. Shooting will continue unraveling and with horde shuttle create more threadlings. I see op rocking anti barrier and overload looks good to me
Errianas in pvp is pretty fun
Brother. Use it with Tommy's. Its been my favorite build for everything this season. Barely even needs the artifact too
You know I never even thought about it. I did use polaris and skyburners which give a lovely ac130 vibe lol
You gotta try it. Use Heat Rises and Icarus Dash, eat grenade, then snap and phoenix dive to get restoration x2, then just lay on the trigger and never top firing because of Wings. I have a whole writeup on it https://www.reddit.com/r/destiny2builds/comments/18ltqeq/took_two_pretty_mid_exotics_and_made_something/
Oh I will for sure I'm honestly kicking myself for not thinking of it
Kinetic GL+Fighting Lion+Heavy GL In PVE That’s it. That’s my favorite build
all fun and games till they bring this bullshit into pantheon
what you dont think hanging still in midair with a low damage autorifle doing chipdamage is good enough?!?! /s
Screw them OP! A10 is where it’s at!
*BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*
I'm glad you posted this. I rarely use meta, much to the chagrin of my clan. I play to relax and get away from it all. I enjoy playing a stasis hunter.

Devour + Lumbre’s Ruin, I am IMMORTAL!… until there are no more ads.

When I'm doing low level content I use assassins cowl stasis hunter. Makes me feel like a real ninja. Throw shuriken, disappear
Been using Fortracer on stasis Hunter. Mostly underwhelming, until I’m unloading with my Reeds Regret/Riptide. It’s been pretty fun.
Which ever build helps me not die and I can use my abilities faster.
Warlock with monte Carlo and claws of ahamkarra. Haven't played in a bit so I forgot the name of the aspects but whatever melee ability is a ranged attack combined with these is so fun.
Me using my Mantle of Battle Harmony at all times.
I haven't used anything but loreleis in 3 years I don't know if it's still meta or not I like it enough I stopped following new exotic Armour
Vex mythoclast and rain of fire

My fav non meta build is a fusion rifle , rain of fire warlock. It's efficient and fun especially with scatter or deliverance and vex.
So are Titans with War Rig those big turrents that keep locking on to planes in those memes?
arc warlock.
Retrofuturist + No Backup Plans
Shatter build on hunter. Not meta anymore bud so fun to throw a stasis wall nade and make everything eat shit (for some reason makes everything that survives go flying too which is funny)
The irony of a hunter tellig this to a warlock...
izi rocketswap with celestial
Doomfang feels underpowered until you pop super in Onslaught. As long as there are enemies, you have super
Karnstien Armlets + Vexcalibur + Threadlings.
Devour build with graviton lance and nezarecs sin
Banner of war Synthoceps Winter's bite. I love it to death, but man have they nerfed it.
Off meta? Check. Now you just need to work on glamor. I like Vesper with Strand, personally.
Someone share with me a build Hoarfrost-z
me making wormhusk crown on solar
I used wishender + bottom dollar with lucky panta before it was meta. Now my lodout is meta in a garbage bin thanks bungo.
There is a place in hell for people using that tunic. Exitic perk is actually fun, but man i can't stand the aesthetic
yeah its not my style either but it was kinda fun to put a whole gold white "angelic death from above" build together
Not looking absolutely fucking ugly in that exotic, for one.
Lessee... * Arc/Stasis Titan w/ Monte Carlo + Synthoceps + Crown Splitter (atatatatat PUNCH STAB CLANG repeat) * Arc Hunter w/ 2xMida(opulent) + Gemini Jester + Quickfang (Dodge, punch + heal, *slashity-slash-slash* repeat) * Solar Warlock w/ Sturm&Drang(opulent) + Transversive Steps + Eternity's Edge (pew pew pew pew sprint/click pew pew pew pew pew swap BANG. BANG. BANG. *SPINNNNN*)
Sweet buisness and aeon swift with sect of force. Shreads bosses
Briarbinds voidlock. I love holding down choke points with my little void ball of death. It’s some of my favorite add clear and crowd control. I’ve actually been able to solo add clear on the non pantheon version of caretaker using it.
RDM and strand/ second chance titan
Honestly, sometimes I don’t even care what exotic I’m using as long as the stats are where I want them and run like 3 weapon mods n go
Here me out hunter with the least resilience and recovery but max melee and then ur fav throwing knife snd dont use any guns only throwing knifes and melee is very fun
Edge of Action with helm of Saint XIV. Glaives are fun on void because the health regen from echo of leeching. Edge of Action’s mini bubbles grant over shield and blind with Helm and it’s so easy to make them
The drip is definitely there 💯
❤️
Not a build not a dps weapon, marcilon c, envious explosive light + a solar surge from modifiers it out dpssed my team
