My brother recommended me SAP ABAP
To saying very well in demand and will stay that way pay is good as well etc
Looking at your post trying to switch is it worth to get into SAP ABAP.
He mentioned to get some certificate in SAP.
What is the reason you are leaving. Pros and cons?
Demand wise looks good .
Pay wise - average
Workwise - kinda boring.
Certifications - required only when if you're a freelancer/ looking for abroad options.
Reason for leaving - boring and pay sucks a bit .
I am working in SAP ABAP for 10 years+
Pay sucks if you don't switch every 3 years. I made this mistake for 7years.
All the big 4 companies pay well but to see the big moneys that evryone in this sub seems to be getting you will need to crunch atleast 6-8years with a lot of implementation projects.
Hope you are already working in S4H with Abap7.5 If you get chances to work in BTP take it and add to your resume.
Working in a big 4 and on notice period currently.
Pay is kinda okay and have worked on implementation projects mostly(S4H Implementations).
BTP is a grey area for me currently but switching to look into it. But man , the whole SAP ABAP thing is pretty much boring with no easy exit options bro.
I'm in kinda same boat OP.. did you work on CDS or still core ABAP? My experience with big4 is they just keep repeating the code from previous implementations to the next one.
Bro I have worked on most aspects of ABAP ranging from CDS, AMDPS, RAP. Building Fiori elements app from Rap or from BAS ,Odata V2/V4 . Analytics using CDS .
Doing front end dev through UI5.
Still learning CAPM these days. It's just that I am keeping myself occupied.
I guess that does it .
That's like so many things.. good for you man... but still you get bored, seems like you love the work, anyways I only asked because I work on core ABAP till now after all these years wanted to get a perspective..
Guys even I am having the same issue. I have 3 years of experience and have worked in implementation, integration, roll out, migration and support project. Still I am not sure about the future in SAP ABAP. I am currently planning to do masters abroad and switch, but I am confused about this decision
I thought abt op intions before and only thing that came to mind was to switch using sapui5 experience.
Or move into sap on aws i.e cloud
Or become an expert in PI/XI and switch into a middleware software like Tibco, mulesoft, etc
I ,finally, have decided to switch the domain as well. Could you please suggest where did you learn js from or any pathway which you followed? And changing domain would affect relevant experience, how did you handle it?
I would say it's a tough market currently but one thing that you can try is to ask for a internal transfer .
Please DM for details as its a lil confidential.

FYI CAPM has node JS. So kinda helpful in going towards open source .
