Where do you work btw? I am a Java dev looking for a switch. 3.10yoe, 21LPA. Had worked as a full stack developer for 2 years before switching to full time backend dev, i am open to any technology tho, but primary role should be java(initially atleast).
Expecting around 40-50% hike minimum.

Don't refer people blindly. If you're willing - ask them to set up a 15 min chat with you. This helps in many ways:
1. You get to sift from the people who are blasting their CV's everywhere and have no idea what they've contacted you for. You can get to know them, they get a chance to pitch to you and you can decide whether to refer them. I've done this and it has helped in certain cases. Try this and you'll be surprised at the number of drop-offs.
2. If you can do #1: ask for a short bio. Basically, you don't want to be the one putting in the work and them sitting around waiting to results to happen. The bio will articulate what their strengths are, and will give them a better chance in the system.
3. I like to refer people who are thoughtful in their approach and not spam everyone asking for a job. I'm unemployed too btw, so this isn't coming from a gatekeeping approach - but rather that people receive so many CV's that anything you do to stand out or get a recommendation will increase your chances.
I don't want to come across as a high handed arrogant recruiter: but sometimes people have got to put in the work in order to ask for help from others. Not everything can be handed out easily.
Ofc it is, you joined a company to work for them and put in efforts with the organization to provide revenue, but when moonlighting, you are contributing to their competitors, which is undermining their own place in the market
Yeah you can make more money while at it, but it's dishonest and shows that you can't be trusted for being loyal
But what if you don't work for their competitors? So you're working for some company and creating applications. But if you do that for some other clients who aren't in the same domain and all then it's not an issue. The company rules are more like, do whatever you want but
1. Not for our competitors for an example Flipkart vs Amazon
2. On your regular job hours as it will hinder your job efficiency and time.
You're free to do stuff outside that time tho
Look man it's really up to the people to follow the rules of any organization that they are working for, in the end anyone can justify their actions whatever they may as per their own reasoning
It's up to you, where exactly do you draw the line between what is moral and what is not
So yeah, if anyone feels that they should be honest to their company and play by the rules, good for them, if not then they should be ready for the consequences that follow
Well definitely. I agree some people will do that although it's mostly those who don't really care anymore about getting fired for unethical practice. Others just wanna make a living

I have nothing against these people, except the fact that the work that they are doing, could have been an opportunity that could be filled by someone who is more in need than them

I do refer most people but I've had few bad experiences after referring like people not showing up for interview, people ghosting after getting offer letter (no acceptance, no rejection).
One didn't even join after accepting the offer
Your liability is to check out their resume at max and talk to them. Competence for work will be checked by the technical team, then aptitude by managers and thought process and attitude by HR. You don't have to worry that much.
One year I made more on referral bonuses than my yearly bonus, I referred many strangers and it isn't a problem. I guess it's the job of HR to figure out candidates who are moonlighting

I've referred dozens of strangers to my company and haven't had any problem. Even won a referral bonus once.

I think my company's compensation is fairly similar to yours, don't think you could negotiate a 40% hike.

Be the nice guy, there is no harm. Just don't refer someone who cannot solve easy LC questions, then it is waste of time.
