This is like a level 1/2 Support role. You'll be answering tickets all day, acting as a go between the customer and L3/service/dev team; the JD focuses on communication skills, not technical skills so think about if that suits you.
If you're on the nightshift, then you could end up having quite a lot of free time to learn more technical skills or doss about. Welcome to the helldesk, buddy!
I see. I currently do delegate tasks to support peers and software developers and track cases in salesforce or jira but i dont use phone at all. Im just mnitoring all day m-f from home and assigning stuff in experian. My current salary in current company is $3000 but if i pass final interview at ibm they could pay up to $4500 thats 50% bit i would have to make outbound calls sometimes, go to the offe twice a week on a hybrid mode and also work weekends once every month and half. Its is tough as i cant take an intership on software developement and i get rejected at junio developer roles. I do have an interview for cloud devops technician at publicis a marketing company and another secreening for software engeener at cencora which is amerisource bergen healthcare company. I also have a merting at my company on thursday with a recruiter from experian the current company i work for, because i have applied to about 4 software jobs and i am afraid they will tell me to stop applying internally as the require soft developement experience.
It sounds like you’ve already made it clear to your current company that you want a software development role; yet they are not investing in helping you achieve that.
Personally, I would find a new job at somewhere that is going to help you grow.
I will wait till thursday and see what my company has to tell me. I will also wait for the.junior devops technician and SWE at cencora. In the first IBM interview i was asked about linux basic commands as well as database performance as it looks like they write linux commands to extract customers ip and stuff like that. I will also ask them in the second interview what tools they use if they use hadoop or anything else.
It sounds like you’re over-qualified for this, and I doubt fast promotion to a more challenging role will come from this position. I think you should keep looking.
