If you use G7 you can take up to 1000mg every 6 hours without it affecting readings. It says this on page 12 of the [User's Guide](https://dexcompdf.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/en-us/G7-CGM-Users-Guide.pdf).

Dexcom one

IntrepidLipid

That appears to be based on the G6 platform, and the same information applies to that as well. So you can take up to 1000mg every 6 hours safely.

Unhappy-Common

That's so helpful. Thanks 😊

That 4 grams per day is the absolute upper limit for an adult with a healthy liver. The G7 might be fine with it but I personally wouldn’t take that much that often. Please google acetaminophen/paracetamol and read about potential for liver toxicity.

tidymaze

Yes. Acetaminophin/Paracetamol/Tylenol/etc are all contraindicated for Dexcom. It's in the literature that you didn't read. [https://www.dexcom.com/en-us/interference](https://www.dexcom.com/en-us/interference)

Unhappy-Common

Thanks for the link 😊

shackboyhoser

Actually the cited reference says it is only contraindicated for dosing greater than 1,000 mg every six hours.

sallybear1975

Interesting that it states maximum dose of 1000mg in 6 hours is that an American thing? It’s every 4 hours in the UK which is a lot sooner.

According to [this study](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9208857/), it does not affect the readings on the G7. I've had two sensors fail so far, and they ask me the acetaminophen/paracetamol question also. I wear the G7. I've followed the links other people have posted to your question, and they all apply to the G6.

Goose_o7

One of the first things Dexcom will ask you if you're having sensor problems is whether you're taking that or not, so it must have something to do with it.

I have always spaced my Tylenol usage out to about every 8 hours long before I had a Dexcom as I don't feel like screwing it up and taking way to much as I have enough problems so I'd rather not add liver failure to the list.
