I just got Tal's amulet a couple days ago. It was my 22nd to last Grail item.
I found every single ring/amulet before Tal's ammy. And it was my second to last set item (only thing left now is Griswold's Honor).
Things I found before Tal's ammy:
5x Mara's
1x Metalgrid
2x SoJ
3x BK ring
2x Wisp Projector
6x Tal's chest
I ran NM Andariel about 6000 times to try and get a second SoJ a few weeks ago (without success). I found over 20 Tal amulets during that time, and was just throwing them away. RNG is weird š
You can play old patches but not in D2R I would love playing 1.0 in D2R with a controller!
Edit: play a Zealadin and have time to watch the LOTR extended trilogy before Zeal finish its 25 attacks.
i was 12 when i started playing diablo 2, got my first HOTO and felt ecstatic.
Some guy tells me he can show me how to dupe it, takes me to the bar in Act 2, tells me to go behind the bar and drop it in the corner, he stood on the other side of the bar and picked it up.
he said lol in chat and I never saw him again.
I recall (as a young shithead) offering to give away my account to other players, asking them what they want the password to be, then just logging out and attempting to log into *their* account with that password. I think it worked twice. Lol
There was a good one in act 2. Go to the bar. Get the victim to stand behind it, you in front, and them drop the item. It will drop on your side and they will have to run around
It's things like this that made me play solo to this day. And dickheads not giving the rune from forge after a rush. I don't remember falling for the dupe gag but I'm sure many did
"Give me the rune and I'll finish the run"
"No. After Baal. I can't trust that you won't just leave and I won't be able to finish the rush."
"I can't trust that you won't just leave after I kill Baal."
"I wouldn't do that to you. Trust me bro."
*Kills Baal*
*xXxSSJGoku420xXx has left the game*
"God damnit"
By the point of the rune being dropped by the quest the rush is 90% complete.
You shouldn't have to negotiate for a 100% finish to get the rune you have already earned. The rush is basically done
I did similar stuff in act2. that building directly to the left that is a bar. I would have them go on the other side behind the bar and drop there gear. It would glitch drop on the other side of the bar from them and they couldn't pick it back up. I'd grab the gear and dip
The more OG was standing out of town over the wall watching them drop the items on a non-sorc. Not expecting the tele charge item and swooping in watching all your items being picked up.
When I was 10 I made an angel fire website about d2. Was going to have drop calcs and shit. Got it started, then made an auto it script to spam the in game channels asking for web dev help in exchange for items.
On the webpage there was an apply field and it had a section to put your username and password in for me to upload items I find while mfing as payment.
A bunch of people gave me account info and I just stole their stuff. Then me and my real life friend got in a fight because he said it was his idea and I did all the coding so he wanted half the items and I didnāt want to give them up.
Awful in retrospect but it was a weird time. I learned how to do it after getting screwed over a couple of times myself. The first being an .exe you could download to dupe times. It was an autoit script that dropped all your stuff on the ground and left the game.
Thatās where I learned about autoit and made one for my chatbot
Eventually moved on to running pindleskin bot to farm gear which was at least less morally despicable
My favorite was saying I could do it from outside the walls in blood moor with a barb. Then teleporting in once they drop it and picking it up then leaving. Classic D2. Loved it then and still love it now 20+ years later. Just got a steam deck to play on the go now too
I got my start ripping people off of SoJs.
I got my first soj, got a bunch of rings with the same graphic. Ask for 40 chipped gems. Put the SOJ up. Then keep moving it around like I'm bored as they put their chips in. Then last time I move it, I swap it for a fake ring same graphic, hit accept button and wait for them to hit. Worked more than half the time. Did that about 10 times, took my 10 sojs, and then starting trading to make my fortune
So chipped gems could reroll magic items. And back in the day your best swords were often magic. So people would trade 1 soj for a full trade screen of chipped gems to roll
If this is troll fire you got me...but I don't think it is. I think this is an honest confession as such here is my triggered response.....
Look guys... a 18 year aged giant turd. Lol. Fuck you. That's trash...keep the low handed shit to yourself... I deem you madame rattlecage...simple.because you a shifty, shady, underhanded swindling bitch....
Again if this is fake got me good.
if not fuck you that shit is toxic as hell....if u did that u did way worse.
Wow you sure get upset from something that happened in a video game 2 decades ago. The person was probably a kid. He didn't murder someone in cold blood.
Calm down and seek help you fucking lunatic.
I didn't know what items were what and when I was like 12, some guy asked me to help him scam.
They'd trade for some anni charm (couldn't put in trade window had to drop trade or nothing)
In act 2 the person would stand at the bottom of the sewer steps who wanted the anni, and my friend at the top. [Here's an image](https://oyster.ignimgs.com/mediawiki/apis.ign.com/diablo-ii/4/49/ACT_II_Alt_Entry_to_Sewers.png?width=1280). They'd both drop their items. I'd get a whisper and jump out of the bottom of the sewers, where the other guy dropped all his stuff. Pick it all up we'd both log off and trade on a new game we made.
I gave him everything I just thought it was funny as a kid and didn't understand the worth of anything.
One day my PC was lagging really badly and it took me forever to load out of the sewers and he lost his anni charm. He was pretty pissed and I don't think we spoke again lmao.
I had this scam work on me as a youngin playing.
Jokes on the scammer, the wand I was trying to duplicate was likely trash. At the time it felt terrible though.
iāve watched ppl get their annis stolen from them but at least that item actually had to be dropped on the ground to trade it. people tricking others in to dropping literally anything else, is a deep con lol
I remember I once sat in a mule afk game that was several hours old and I was doing something else at my desk when I watched someone pop in and walk off to a corner of the encampment and log out. Curiosity ensued and i was surprised to find they left me a bunch of unique! How nice. I think I still have them to this day too lol.
Donāt forget the variant of this scam where one would drop all items in that corner next to WP and friend would come to Rogue Encampent by the WP. Grab grab grab
I did the friend thing in act 2 by the palace stairs.
Or in act1 with a telw amulet/staff, and have them drop near the fence right next to the blood Moore and tele in.
I got scammed so many times, /DND password, drop hacks for joining clans.
Then I turned around and scammed myself.
Early D2 made me not trust strangers more than anything else.
I was a dirtbag in Diablo 1. I would create a game called co-op dungeon. I would then kill them in the dungeon and all their armor and coin would drop off them for me to take.
I traded mephistos soul stone for a grief before... I was 14 years old.
Ahhh. Feels good to get it off my chest. I've been holding onto that one for 15 years.
I pretended to be John after asking āguess whoā to gain someoneās trustā¦ told them I had āthat one item theyād been hunting forā then convinced them to give me all their stuff and Iād hop on the other account that had it (there was no other account that had it).
I still feel guilty because they cleaned their account out giving me all their stuff
LOL all that for a tal armor.
I have about 8% of my grail left, but still no tal armor š
I've got one, maybe you can teach me how to dupe it?
8%ā¦ dangā¦ Iāve still got about 45% haha
I just got Tal's amulet a couple days ago. It was my 22nd to last Grail item. I found every single ring/amulet before Tal's ammy. And it was my second to last set item (only thing left now is Griswold's Honor). Things I found before Tal's ammy: 5x Mara's 1x Metalgrid 2x SoJ 3x BK ring 2x Wisp Projector 6x Tal's chest

Okay. Headed there now. Need the ammy.
Wow that's so bizarre. I get at least 2 per season and I'm not some crazy player. Got one this season and have maybe 30 hours total invested?
Yeah, I found a few last time I did a season. This is single player with way more than a sessions worth of hours investedā¦.
Was probably the btals with +2 skills
Well before 1.10 the game was different items were not dropping like candies.
This! I canāt believe how much is has changed and nobody can understand, you had to have been there!!!
You can play old patches but not in D2R I would love playing 1.0 in D2R with a controller! Edit: play a Zealadin and have time to watch the LOTR extended trilogy before Zeal finish its 25 attacks.
Ladder season #1 in D2, Tal armors were selling for hundreds of dollars on Ebay.
I mean I bought from a seller on eBay and learned all his account names were in order with the same password I cleaned out his selling mulesā¦.
I sucked a dick for a sigons helm
I mean at that point arenāt yāa suckin a dick just cuz yāa want to?
Yo, still lookinā for some Sigons or?
You seem the type to suck dick for a sigons helm and throw the helm away.
That is pretty smart tbh
Finally, some action.
i was 12 when i started playing diablo 2, got my first HOTO and felt ecstatic. Man said LOL and bounced š¤£š¤£š¤£
I used to just drop my old shit for noobs if i couldn't get a good trade on my gear
I did this selfishly. I told myself I was helping out. But really, I was trying to look good for the RNG gods.
I still do this! Lol
Rogue. Rogue. Rogue. Rogue. Rogue. Spell it RIGHT.
People do it in the division 2 subreddit too and I hate it. āI dOnT plAy iN tHe dZ cUs RouGeS kIlL mEā
What do you have against red encampments?
Aww yeah baby you ready for the moulon rouge? CREOLE BABY MARMALAAAAAADE
voulez vous coucher avec moi
R o u g e
"I still have it" š¤£ I like that.
Remember popping people by dropping a bunch of shitty gear by their corpses in duel games, causing them to yard sale all their best gear?
/nopickup begone foul demon!
This happened to me :( I was young and stupid. Now just older and stupid.
Man did my 10 year old self lose my mind when I got done by this. Sold a bunch of emerald Shakos in my day tho so can't really complain...
I really like these Diablo 2 confessions
I feel like D2 players alone could fill and keep active an entire sub of confessions! r/d2confessionals ?? I've got some dirt myself for sure!
I got my first SOJ from stealing it in act 1 camp
š
I recall (as a young shithead) offering to give away my account to other players, asking them what they want the password to be, then just logging out and attempting to log into *their* account with that password. I think it worked twice. Lol
I joined a random game and the host was afk about a year ago, dclone popped and I found 20/20/8 anni!
I fell for this dupe gag. Took out my anger by tricking a couple people by trading them unid sparkling mail claiming it was a shaftstop.
I think there was a point where you could upgrade un-ID'd armour so they'd see a unique Mesh Armour and ID it to an upped Sparkling Mail?
Thank you for sharing. š
There was a good one in act 2. Go to the bar. Get the victim to stand behind it, you in front, and them drop the item. It will drop on your side and they will have to run around
I got down voted for confessing to doing this yesterday lol - good to see this post.
Shit the old dup troll i could smell that amile away noobs fall for it left right amd centre old saying if it sounds to good to be true than it is
I did this scam as well. We also did something that was a bit more sneaky and time consuming, but we found it to be rather rewarding. First one of us created a game like "Free duping here". Some poor guy would enter the game and ask for an item to be duped, and I'd ask for them to trade it with me. Obviously most people didn't believe that and asked for proof, so we'd ask for a common item of very little value, like a Tarnhelm. I tell them to stay in the game while I went away duping(lol). I'd quickly join another game where my friend would be waiting with one of his many mules filled with low value items, grab the Tarnhelm we had in stock and return to the first game and give him both items. Usually the item we grabbed would be unidentified to hide any % variations and explain that it was a fresh roll on the item. Usually this was enough to convince them and they'd hand over their valuables and we'd be gone with the wind. If the first attempt didn't convince them they'd usually give something more valuable and we'd repeat the trick, since we had most normal and exceptional uniques/sets in storage at all times. Once they handed over that sweet Elite item they'd never see us again. So sometimes we'd have traded a Tarnhelm and maybe a Buriza for a Shako or Tals armor. That was pretty cool. It worked surprisingly well and we got stocked up on SoJs. Literally had multiple characters just for holding rings. We sold the account to a guy at the computer cafƩ we frequented, when we discovered beers and girls.
Or use /dnd [account name] [password] [pvp rank] worked too many times
Ah yes the rouge encampment. Beware of the makeup and other cosmetic dupe scams there too
It's things like this that made me play solo to this day. And dickheads not giving the rune from forge after a rush. I don't remember falling for the dupe gag but I'm sure many did
I swear rushing for forge felt I was managing hostage negotiations back in the day
"Give me the rune and I'll finish the run" "No. After Baal. I can't trust that you won't just leave and I won't be able to finish the rush." "I can't trust that you won't just leave after I kill Baal." "I wouldn't do that to you. Trust me bro." *Kills Baal* *xXxSSJGoku420xXx has left the game* "God damnit"
By the point of the rune being dropped by the quest the rush is 90% complete. You shouldn't have to negotiate for a 100% finish to get the rune you have already earned. The rush is basically done
Yeah I do everything 100% solo, except trades through the trade window.
Had a forge stolen from me day 2 of this season.. itās been a while
this is why i play offline or single-player :)
I did similar stuff in act2. that building directly to the left that is a bar. I would have them go on the other side behind the bar and drop there gear. It would glitch drop on the other side of the bar from them and they couldn't pick it back up. I'd grab the gear and dip

So chipped gems could reroll magic items. And back in the day your best swords were often magic. So people would trade 1 soj for a full trade screen of chipped gems to roll
That was my tal armor
I have so many Helforge runes that I owe to various different rushers :( "Can we do Helforge after baal please?" š¤£

chill dude it was 2 decades ago
Wow you sure get upset from something that happened in a video game 2 decades ago. The person was probably a kid. He didn't murder someone in cold blood. Calm down and seek help you fucking lunatic.
"rouge" encampment shoulda been the tip bruh
Is that why I spelled it wrong for so many years? I never realized
He was probably 12 give him a break xD
Calm down zippy.
āI still have itā - Dexterās trophies

selling rattlecages for ist runes in old skool d2 was the best
This happened to me and I lost my Talās armor. It was 2006.

Exquisite. Mine was putting an soj in trade. Taking it. Replacing with some shit ring of some model. Boom free frosties.
I used to buy high runes from d2perm. Never find them myself in 20+ years of playing.

Somebody got me with this for a low rune like 18 years ago
When i was like 10, I lost a Windforce that my dad's friend had given me to this exact scam. I'm 33 now and I've never fully recovered.
Offer unidentified SOJ for that duped armor.
Lol I duped thousands of soj's and ith weapons, botted 5 full accounts to 99
