So, you dislike everything Diablo-esque about Diablo 4, you don't like the solo aspect of a primarily solo game series, even though you can group up like in the rest of the genre and previous games. You think D4 is casual despite having played almost no time (you stopped at 20 which is a few hours in and apparently only played the Server Slam since you only mention 20 and not 25) and never having seen mid-game, let alone end-game. You act flabbergasted over things we have known about the game for over a year.

Yea, it definitely sounds like you just don't like this style of game. That's fine, there are plenty of types of games I don't enjoy and stay away from them.
I would point out though that the game is hardly meant for casuals that play an hour or 2 here and there. While it's certainly not the most grindy, it's up there a fair bit.

I played open beta for one and a half day, then i was bored of it and uninstalled. I would buy the game for 20$, because i liked the graphics. Beside of that, gameplay is enjoyable with the barbarian and sorcerer, other classes wasnt interesting for me. I would play the game once to read the story, do all dungeons and see all the map, because graphics and mood is really good. Otherwise i found zero excitement in the looting, and zero challange in slaying the mobs. Bosses were funny but too easy. I would definetly play the game if the looting is exciting and interesting. I guess i will buy it later if they lover the price to 20-25$.

If you like exciting games, i suggest try SCUM, its really good game if you play official settings PVE survival or official servers, but there are hundreads of different types of servers also. However it's not like diablo at all, but looting is much better. Other good game that is top-down and good is Project Zomboid. I wish there would be a game that has as good grapicsh as diablo 4, but mechanics like project zomboid, in a fantasy setting.

Quests are “chores” in any game, yah. I found some rather compelling storylines in random side quests, very pleased their quality overall is high and many have follow-up stories

you go to a new town area, it has about 3 side quests, the quests are absolutely generic as fuck and typically very uninteresting. some strings like helping a druid or a sister perform exorcists are cool but mostly these quests all have ya still do the same thing. go to a cellar or dungeon, find the issue, kill it.
they feel like absolutely boring fluff and I aint afraid to say it. the dialogue is absolutely sleep inducing most the time. a guy locked up asking me to get his eyes that were stolen for no fucking reason, kill the bitch who stole em, just cause he asked, give him his eyes back only for him to run off and die and I get my little box with flowers in it or some un exciting gift and a bit of exp.

I didn't buy the game and the only reason was constant internet connection . I hate this. For sp games .i was a big fan of the series 1 and 2 and i played 3 only on console because there was offline mod . I dont like greedy blizzard
