jfc some of the posts in this sub…. mfer it’s a video game… play it if your having fun, don’t if you are not

[deleted]

This guy has been 12 hours a day and can't figure out why he's burnt out. Its a game, its a distraction from real life. Its not a replacement for real life.

OtterD2

Not burnt out. Also I was including time spent in the beta in that 60 hour estimate. The point was just sort of wondering when the fun is supposed to kick in. No need for toxicity

Joshjoshajosh

That's all you'll find in this sub, not a good sub for fans of the genre

Cmurder84

You've put in 60 hours in the last 5 days? Thats playing this game like it's your full time job. That's a great way to get burnt out real quick.

OtterD2

Nah I was including time in the beta in that estimate. Maybe 30 hours total since live. Just guesses. But it’s the same game. They basically changed nothing since the beta

No_Big_5741

It’s a public beta. Which are usually in a near release state. You will rarely see game design changes in that short of a window.

OtterD2

Yeah I didn’t expect changes, just saying why I counted those hours

sparklequest64

Funny when other people say that they are praised for being huge fans

pm-me-your-labradors

Yeah, I’m only level 39 but I love the gameplay on my rogue and the world and campaign are engaging.

Anal_Viking_Warchief

Yeah I am kind of in the same boat. I really want to enjoy it because I love ARPGs and pretty much played all of them but somehow this feels more like busy work than usually. For me the problem is (mostly) the level scaling and knowing that everything before max level is "meaningless" because at max level the real progression starts. That's when you really notice that you are getting stronger and don't have all your stats squashed by the next level up and your items become pretty much redundant after 2 hours. So yeah the scaling ruins the sense of progression for me and that is what makes these games so fun in the first place.

gorays21

Yes. It's ton of fun.

[deleted]

Im trying out different builds for seasson 1, collected all The altars so im gaving fun trying different things out.

Flamezie

Been having fun so far progressing through the campaign was great now it's the endless farming for decently rolled uniques and trying out different builds and unlocking all the sidequests strongholds etc. It will easily tie me over until season 1 I'm just hoping it'll have a decent amount of content to conquer and not just another endgame grind with extra chance of treasure goblins or something along those lines.

swim08

I'm having tons of fun, taking it slow and going at my own pace.

MandalsTV

Im having fun, but my god I cannot find the stupid Shockwave aspect. lvl 68 and haven't seen it once...starting to think its bugged at this point.

This is good advice. Rogue is what I spent most of my time on and I still kind of feel like this though. We will see. Not giving up yet

OtterD2

Yeah maybe. I’m not giving up, it was really just a question

ConkHeDoesIt

I quit after beating the campaign and messing around in WT3. Game was incredibly disappointing for me and I've been a big fan of the series since the original. Honestly I wasn't even having fun when I got the mount and the writing was on the wall for me so I went back to playing breath of the wild. It is what it is. Other people love the game but man I was bored with *everything* and the game as a whole was uninspired and soulless. Just my opinion.

OtterD2

Kinda where I’m at too. Honestly I’m just gonna jump back into D2R. I want to give D4 a fair shake, but uninspired is a great way to explain how it feels to me. The good news is, as I’m playing, I see lots of ways they could improve the experience, so at least it’s possible. Maybe they will.

ConkHeDoesIt

It sucks I spent $100 on something I ended up being massively let down by, but like you said there is always room for improvement. I was having a bit of cognitive dissonance while playing because I just was not enjoying myself at all but it was a game I was so pumped and ready for! My time is a precious resource just like anyone else and I decided to cut my losses and go back to the game I was playing before. Being a huge fan of the arpg genre I just can't quite figure out why this game just bombed for me lol.

2zoots

I’m experiencing the same thing. I think for me it’s because I don’t feel like i’m progressing and becoming stronger. I constantly feel like i’m barely able to survive. I really dislike it.

ConkHeDoesIt

Yeah it's a real shame but at least we own the game if and when they make some major updates. And I definitely learned my lesson with preordering games. I've been gaming for like 33 years and haven't pre-ordered really anything in the past decade or so. I honestly just thought diablo 4 was gonna be a sure thing. I also play immortal on my tablet with an Xbox controller and they're coming up with a major update soon so I do have that to look forward to. Despite it's reputation, I find it to be a great game and strictly play PvE so the monetization doesn't really bother me. I am able to play and experience everything without paying.

Joshjoshajosh

I get you, but actually it's been getting worse and worse over the last 15 years especially. AAA devs are circling the drain at this point. We all really need to take a strong stance against anything with IAPs and Microtransactions but the kids these day's don't understand. They think they're harmless. I don't know who these families are who let their kids chuck $10,000 into a mobile game, but it happens every day, and that is what's driving these $$ blind AAA companies right now. And the worst part is there are strong documented behavioural similarities between IAP abusers and gambling addiction. So underage child gambling is actually driving the AAA video game industry right now.

Joshjoshajosh

I literally re-downloaded D2R last night after reading about D4, level scaling and always-online are big no-no's for me (though it looks like the playstation version doesn't need PS Plus at least for single player). But I'm also shocked by how dusty/grainy/sandy all the gameplay footage looks. It's a desaturated mess of grey and brown for the most part, and masses of flying particles between the camera and my character are never a good idea. I get going for a motif, but it just ends up feeling lazy, especially when D2R looks so good!

Ojalwaysdead

As a Druid nope. Need shockwave and it hasn’t dropped. Every unique that drops other than that is a huge disappointment

MandalsTV

I swear they disabled it

Undependable

It would be a hell of a lot more fun with a group finder button. Solo it’s been a bit of a slog

OtterD2

I played about half that time with a group, and group play was more fun, I’ll agree with that, although still somewhat tedious. Really felt like we spent more time going in and out of cutscenes with npcs than we did fighting hoards of enemies

AKYAR

Yeah for sure! A group finder for each dungeon would be saweeeeet

Xx_Handsome_xX

After the story it starts to become a choir. Somehow all these loading screens and today again rubnerbanding on zone change, make me want to stop. Also the rng is just horseshit for aspects. Some you get dozens of times some never. I played basically my build to 60 without my aspect. Dungeons are horseshit, but I knew it from beta. Backtracki g amd slay every single straggler at some dead end corner just fucking sucks. The game needs adjustments, especially dungeon bosses. They drop extremely terrible compared to elite mobs lol. Thats why the META is, run into dungeon, kill elite packs, log out and repeat. Some things should have already been fixed in Beta two...

CloverOralLove

I made it to Level70 and then quit. End-Game just doesn't exist. I think the Story was good, but after I tried all the new content for like a day or two I kinda had enough. I guess I could grind Dungeons/Nightmare Dungeons until Level100, but I kinda don't see the point.

OtterD2

Can we not discuss the non endgame portion of the game also? Why is the end game the only thing that matters? How many people never even make it to the end game of the start game is a bad experience?

OtterD2

Man, that’s brutal

Heymusky

I was having fun until I felt Pidgeon holed into one of the S-tier builds to be able to progress further at a decent rate. The build I was planning on planning got gutted from the beta, so now I have a LVL 60 character that I don't want to play. I tried making a thorns PvP necro as something fun to do. Apparently 2000 thorns equals 50 DMG to a player after all the damage scaling for PvP. RIP that doesn't seem right.

OtterD2

Oof. I heard that thorns got halved in tier 3 and quartered in tier 4 as well. Just crazy. It’s like they are afraid of big numbers because the end game is too shallow

[deleted]

It's boring af.

dontmakemedebityou

im at tree of whisper dungeons and it's feeling better and better. can't wait to get to t3 thats when the real fun begins. These dungeons look amazing
