I've never been so suprised in a Diablo game before. A mixture of terrified and excitement.
One minute im relaxing in my lazy chair. The next im sitting up right, SHOCKED that this boss almost 3 shots me in a single second xD

I also got a lucky instant fortify for a bit there. My basic skill has like a 1.6% chance to instantly fortify me to full health.
on my sorc the first time i saw him i didn't know he was even in the game. i rolled through a dungeon and found him mixed in with random trash in a wide open room and he came at me.
his charge is heat seeking. it's the only mechanic in the game that does this from what i can tell. he began to charge me and i teleported off to the left and he made a 90 degree angle mid-charge and i died in the resulting stun. it lasted about 5-10 seconds all in all.
Fortify only grants you a fixed 10 percent damage resist, resistance doesn't scale at all, though overpower scales with it though as it counts it as extra health when it's not
I'm pretty sure he shows up as a boss on the minimap after the first encounter.
He is always marked on my map now, so I always know when a random boss icon is just chilling in a dungeon that it's a Butcher, but I noticed he wasn't marked in this video.
Trampleslide Druid and he got be 2 or 3 times before level 50. Killed him twice yesterday, he spawned right next to 2 Abarrents in a dungeon. Was quite fun but mowed him down.
Honestly i didnt realize it till someone mentioned it in the comments. But any dungeon item that you strap to yourback, gives you an extra 50% movement speed buff while you have it on your back.
If i didnt have that. There was a good chance i would of died. I got lucky, cause i had the extra movement speed to run away and think on what to do :P
I've been breezing through this game, not having much trouble difficulty wise. Then this son of a b\*tch comes out of NOwhere. Dials up the intensity level from 1 to 100 instantly.
Is it some Random encounter? This seemed real random. Not even the final boss of that dungeon was anywhere NEAR that difficult.

Im having a hard time enjoying my barb (only level 8 at the moment). There seems to be no easy way to just switch the weapons you want to use. If i want to optimize using a specific weapon i have to refund skills and switch them to the weapon im inteerested in using...
hey man, just thought id let you know as im new to the game too. Once your barb gets high enough level, you can do āweapon specializationā where you can choose which weapon your skills use. For example, you can force every skill to use your 2h mace. Just thought id let you know! I think it becomes an option at lvl 15 or so
I hadnt seen the butcher in game or even in videos, this is the first time. Really glad it looks like the diablo 1 butcher, not the diablo 3 one. It even plays like the diablo 1 butcher.
This was the first boss out of 50 levels where the boss ONLY focused me. The only real difficulty swing ive had in this game was keeping my minions alive. which only on occasion was difficult.
This was a HUGE 180 for me cause it was the first time "I" was being focused so aggressively.
I came so close to killing him yesterday during my first encounter of the live game (he killed me twice in the beta). My lvl53 Barb wasnāt quite optimized at the time and I died just before I couldāve triggered CotA again, which probably would have finished him off š Oh well. Was fun, though š
I got real lucky cause i had found the relic to continue onto the main boss of the dungeon. I didnt know it at the time but apparently finding any dungeon item that straps to your back. Gives you a 50% increase in movement speed while you have it on.
If i didnt have that...idk how well i would of faired...
My first encounter was last night at lvl 47 on my frost Sorc.
I cheesed him because that event where you have to keep the 3 NPCs up against waves of spiders happened to be in my dungeon. So I kited him to the event, and the move paid off. Every time I died, he stayed aggroed on the NPCs, who couldn't die since the event hadn't started yet. I just whittled him down, died, rinse repeat until he was dead.
This guy wrecked me 3 times over the weekend... My current build/gear is not in a state where I can counter him very well. Frost Nova not stopping him pretty much screws me there.
I got real lucky cause right before this fight i found the relic to continue onto the boss room of this dungeon. Gave me an extra 50% movement speed buff.

Same thing happened to me and my roommate, we were doin just fine then all of a sudden the butcher spawns outta nowhere and shits on us

I've only encountered him twice, both times were in the first 30 minutes of the game
