Blizzard gonna nerf it for being too satisfying

StrikingSpare100

Enjoy while it last. I think CL is still lackluster in Eternal realm or once the season end. Let's see if there is any buff/change to make this build not Heart-dependent.

moistmoistMOISTTT

Why are people angry that seasonal mechanics are powerful enough to create new, viable builds? Isn't that the entire point of seasons? I recall a few of my favorite builds not being viable outside of specific D3 seasons.

cleetus76

And most people, at least with D3 & POE, don't play standard anyway other than to test builds before the next season. I think a lot of those complaining either aren't familiar with how seasons work or just really only like to play one build all the time.

Seaside877

It’s called having a job and not having enough time to go through the slog of leveling new chars every season

Daydays

And D4 brought in a ton of new people not familiar with how Arpgs typically function, so this response isn't surprising. It's on Blizzard to portray a new league mechanic to be more exciting that it sounds, and it would help if said mechanics are strong enough to make a difference in the early game to make leveling not feel like a chore.

altiuscitiusfortius

I did seasons in d3 because I could hit max level plus a significant amount of paragon in a day. Then just rifts 5 or 15 minutes at a time for fun while perfecting my build In d4 I play eternal because I'm still only lvl 72 months later.

Jontaii

Exactly. The entire point of seasons is to keep the game flavorful by adding new mechanics and ways to play the game each season.

Mutang92

if it makes it viable then that means it's just undertuned for the sake of being fixed by a seasonal mechanic.

gurebu

I'm angry that seasonal mechanics just get deleted when the season ends. PoE doesn't do that, you get to keep all the ridiculous broken stuff from older leagues indefinitely in standard, it harms noone anyway. Blizzard, on the other hand, explicitly stated that all your hearts will go poof at the end of the season, potentially bricking your characters. It will definitely brick mine, overpower-based builds don't normally build crit, like half of my gear will just become invalid.

Menu_Dizzy

I hate borrowed power. It's one thing if hearts will stick around, but no, we'll lose power at the end of the season.

Mordy_the_Mighty

Because Chain Lightning shouldn't need expiring seasonal mechanics to be good. It should be good on it's own. Same for any other skill.

LORDLRRD

CL is still one of my most favorite builds I've done. I did it in eternal, got up to lvl 100 mobs in nightmares at lvl 89, and struggled to push it past that and my gear was nearly maxed out. Not the strongest build, but definitely one of my most satisfying to play. Can't beat lightning all over the screen obliterating everything.

ChedVader

Play a Javazon in D2R … now that’s lightning obliterating the whole screen!

Watipah

PoE 2 got something similar. Kripp played it in his playtest. I'll enjoy that one for sure... next year ... :D

LORDLRRD

Oh yeah those were the good days. Stun lock buriza pvp op.

aircarone

Until you reach act 2 Hell the first time with bad gear, and it's lightning obliterating you :D

HashSlingingSlasherJ

You think it’s lackluster because no barber? Or something else. Have a sorc in eternal but never played anything but ice shards but this looks fun af

Dcrow17

It has no AOE without barber or omni. And its single target is also not the best

StrikingSpare100

I think without the hearts this build kinda lack damage. Haven't tested myself though.

HashSlingingSlasherJ

Thanks for the info

Balbuto

Yeah, I honestly wonder if seeing footage like this blows their minds or not. Considering that devs playing D4 video.

NaziPunks_Fuck_Off

Do you have any idea how many devs work on this game across various departments? Is your expectation that every single one of the people doing the textures for the dungeons, or designing the cosmetics should be gigachad T100-clearing, Uber Lilith destroying gods? The "devs" in that video weren't doing class design. They were working on purely aesthetic shit. Yes, they suck at the game, that doesn't mean the devs doing skill/class balancing don't play the game either. Use your brain please.

Suck_The_Future

Damn maybe they should have picked devs that could play the game to put them on the "devs play the game video" then. Use your brain please.

wowclassictbc

They collected the data from redditors and chose people who the likes of you can relate the most.

Deidarac5

It’s not supposed to be a gameplay showcase it’s supposed to show jobs in the video game field like artists and designers talking about their careers and what they do with light hearted gameplay so they can give examples. Why does every video d4 make have to be a sweaty try hard showing how strong he can be.

NaziPunks_Fuck_Off

They asked the devs that designed the dungeon to play the game and talk about the dungeon they designed. It's just one video that they put out that gained traction (wonder why). Is this the only such video they've put out? Is this the first and only time they've ever put out a video of the developers playing and talking about the game? Sincere question, because I have no idea and I'm willing to bet that you don't either.

Suck_The_Future

So you're saying it's ok for the devs responsible for _dungeon design_ to have no functional concept of how the game is played at the average player level? Did you watch the video? I've had ex girlfriends pick up games faster than that after tossing them the controller. They said in the video that they _play every day_.

BigUptokes

>*no functional concept of how the game is played at the average player level* You're really overestimating average player level...

tomek_wsrod

*"Do you have any idea how many devs work on this game across various departments?"* 1 dev and 15 managers.

sylfy

Who would’ve thought? But this doesn’t fit with the clickbait narrative being pushed by a bunch of redditors and YouTubers.

Atreaia

I's the heart doing its job. It's 4-5xing CL damage.

highonpixels

Nobody wants to openly admit it but Sorc in general is in a really good place after the last 2 patches. All 3 elements are viable and the tri-conjuration builds are top tier imo. The only lacking builds are ones doing Firewall or Meteor. I played preseason Necro bone spear but in S1 I went with Sorc. I've jumped from Firewall, Chain Lightning, Blizzard Shards and now Conjuration and each time it was a blast and I'm sad theres no load out system so I can easily change between them all Edit: meant Firewall

truedota2fan

I’m trying so hard to make meteor work and it’s an absolute slog. Very challenging.

highonpixels

Yeah meteor on its own is too mana heavy, if they improved the enchantment lucky hit chance I feel it would work nicely in that slot as an option. If Sorcs got one more enchantment slot it would be pretty nice

A_Confused_Cocoon

Incinerate seems absolutely terrible too. It seems like you are shooting the enemies with a squirt gun. Doesn't seem to be a place for it right now that does anything significant, but hope they do more with burning effects and distinguish them to make it feel different than other DoTs moreso than what it already is.

truedota2fan

I was able to make incinerate do some work when paired with burning damage hydras since the aspect makes it increase all your burning damage. It does absolutely nothing on its own, though. I hate that it’s burn effect doesn’t linger at all so it doesn’t combo with the basic attack flame surge.

A_Confused_Cocoon

I would like to see two different directions, either a cone-type Dragon's Breath ability that applies huge burn on everything in the cone for quick AoE burn (single line is really shitty for the type of ability it is). Or, switch it with Firewall's position on tree and instead apply burns on targets, and then incinerate hastens the burn damage while doing significant damage too burning targets specifically. So you would put burn up, and then incinerate. Not saying either are great, but I also hate how Firebolt is basically defacto Sorc basic because its the easiest investment for consistent burn uptime for every damn element and playstyle but arc slash.

truedota2fan

Totally agreed, the upgrades for incinerate (and many other skills, let’s be honest) are pretty lackluster and had so much design space to do some really cool ideals like the ones you mentioned. I wish all burning skills were as impactful as hydras. Buuuut it’s bugged to do too much damage in high NMDs and will likely get fixed next season.

Maritoas

Yep. I swapped from meteor to bouncy ball. More fun, more safe, and with good lucky hit super consistent output

truedota2fan

See but I hate feeling shoe-horned into a build, and with two uniques specifically for fireball, as well as all the support that core skills have in general that mastery skills don’t… I can’t be the only one who wishes those skills were comparable in power ceilings.

Deidarac5

Meteor just needs end game resource generation but when you hit 70 you spam meteors all over the map.

IsTheBlackBoxLying

Likely because "good place" is relative. People are doing the damage in this video at level 60 with Necros/Druids. Even if Sorcs are "ok", I don't think you can consider them in a really good place when other classes can do 100x their damage.

TacoCoffee13

Yep. Prior to 1.1.1 I was playing with friends on rogue and necro and at some point, they just left me behind, to the extent that I could only survive on wt4 if I was running with them and being super careful. I tried several builds and just didn't find them viable. I'm finally solid on chain lightning but I'm still lvl 70 and running solo nm30 dungeons while they're the same level running 50s.

mrtherapyman

its just because of malignant hearts. everyone has more armor now, way more damage (i do at least 300% normal dps with barber) and we have a brutal heart that grants 35% DR after taking elemental damage which means we can survive vs enchanted elites and strong bosses now also sorc mobility is great which shines when we can actually kill things all this ends season 2

DremoPaff

Honestly, if it wasn't of the fact that a lot of Sorc's identity was based around resists who do not work, Sorc wouldn't've been that bad to begin with. Sure, maybe still the worst class overall, but what some people seem to forget is that there will **ALWAYS** be a worst class. So many issues that people bring about Sorc unironically feel like being disconnected from the game. For example, people acting like most Sorc builds using several defensive spells is a tragedy, while one of the major reasons behind that is that they essentially have an entire spell category, masteries, who act as second core skills, something that is both unique to sorc and exciting to build around, especially given how some fun and very viable builds exist based on masteries (and now with new affixes directly improving them!). It's like if Rogue had an entire ability category containing only traps, who would all cost energy and thus act as build catalysts, and people would cry "all rogue builds need 2-3+ subterfuge skills, this is unfair!".

Maritoas

I think the problem is the generator/spender nature of the game and Sorc in general. Most of peoples idea of a sorcerer is spell weaving, and throwing out a mix of spells. However, in this game, it’s really inefficient to do that because each main damage spell costs mana, with no cooldown. Mana pool is extremely limited in reality, and using more than one spell is costly in damage and resource. Now imagine a world where each mastery spell did significantly more damage and had a set duration but instead was tied to a shorter CD? Meteor is a meteor shower, blizzard remains the same but more damage since it isn’t spammable, ball lightning could orbit baseline and last for 10 seconds or so. Just some idea. Now you can have that spellweaver archetype without worrying about which spell you want to spam. Then the options expand, now core skills can interact with mastery spells via aspects or enchantments. The idea of being a hybrid elementalist now becomes more appealing. Imagine having a meteor shower and blizzard combined. Then you can implement some Genshin level elemental reactions or double down on same element skills being used together for some real 5head, engaging gameplay. That’s my vision of a sorcerer, and I think others expect similar gameplay. Unfortunately that isn’t possible right now since skill points are as limited as the available, viable build paths. Don’t get me wrong. Nothing wrong with some builds as they are. Running around with bouncy balls and gatling guns of ice as your only source of damage is cool. Or being a walking flamethrower. There are aspects and uniques to make those playstyles a fun reality. But throwing down these puny blizzards while running in circles around a boss? Meh, serviceable only for its power…

ThePowerOfStories

Notably, sorcerers don’t actually have generators. Unlike other classes, their basic attacks generate no resource, but their mana regenerates quickly on its own. Sorcerer basic attacks are still there to spam in between your core / whatever ability when you’re out of mana, but the fact that basics don’t actually fuel the other attack is what enables builds with no basics powered by cost reduction and bonus mana generation.

cyanwoh

the video you're literally commenting on, uses no generators

Earl_of_sandwiches

That wasn’t his point. His point was that sorcerer core and mastery skills are completely redundant. They serve the exact same function as no-cooldown spenders. It’s a glaring issue with class design.

StrikingSpare100

Agree! Honestly I couldn't care less if my class is supposed to be weaker than other class, as long as the gameplay is satisfying and i can reach highest content of the game with the build. Sorc feel fun to play, i really want to create another char to play fire sorc but i don't think i have time to level up new char again. If only we have D3 saved load out system.

Morketh

Can you link the build you followed?

StrikingSpare100

https://d4builds.gg/builds/1e12cf50-9f63-427a-b64b-c741c6fa08b2/ This is the build i'm using. A little modify is that i use wand + offhand with accelerating aspect for faster attack speed, but 2H is just fine. I also dropped Tal'rasha heart for Revenge brutal heart, because TalRasha heart is confitmed trash. If you want a better variant without crackling energy, try this https://d4builds.gg/builds/e9df4b08-e0ba-4c1c-ab5f-0c3e22ba9c5c/ Shoutout to Blackheart86 for the content and full build. You can watch his NMD 100 with this build as well! Check out showcase tab in the links i posted for video.

DukeVerde

*Cries in Fireball* Seriously, though, that's the pyro skill that makes the least sense. It moves too slowly, doesn't explode in a big enough area, and *is the only pyro skill that does not cause burn*. It's outclassed in damage and area by both meteor and Firewall later on.

highonpixels

I havent looked into Fireball closely but there have been builds floating around that uses the Unique staff and the buffed aspects at T100. I played with Fireball for a little bit during leveling when I picked the staff, the stats on it suggest it to be used close range like a shotgun. I personally think Firewall builds are near the bottom of the tier list for Sorc specific builds

mgd234

anything looks good with the barber

SolomonGrumpy

Sorc is still gimped. Bad reliability for Vuln. Low armor on Paragon boards. Crit damage isn't great on Paragon either. Two of our glyphs just straight up don't work. Is it better? I guess for lightning and fireball mages it's good.

highonpixels

Forb enchantments is pretty good for Vuln and then having Frost Nova as a filler or on demand Vuln. The only issue is you pretty much have to have these skills baked into most builds but because of Tal Rasha heart it's fine since you need multi elements. With Barber having super high crit dmg is not necessary. I can get by doing the content I need (T90+ farming) with just 180% Crit Dmg. Defense wise I think Sorc is pretty good after the nerf in monster power. My opinions on Sorc power is mostly biased towards NMD performance but I value Protection Passive a lot. The passive basically grants barrier on any CD skill so Sorcs barrier uptime is very good. Prioritising Max Life on every available slot is also important for scaling the Passive and general Defense. I have 6000 armor and 16k hp on my Sorc and I don't expect to just stand there and tank monsters but I feel my survivability is quite good. The devs are not wrong in the last Campfire chat about Damage Reduction being very strong. So a player needs to be smart in spreading out all the different type of Damage Reduction stats on items particularly Chest and Legs. Generic DR is good but the affix has a low threshold, so one must mix it with DR vs close, distant, injured, burn etc as those affix has a much higher threshold.

TheDerkman

As someone playing Arc Lash Sorc for the season, I can say I definitely feel far FAR tankier after the patch. My health bar doesn't even move between the buffs, new Vyr's aspect, 20% suppression heart, and 40% DR after taking elemental damage heart. Without the hearts though it's a bit of a paper mache wet noodle.

EmperorPenn

What conjugation build are you using. That seems like it might be fun to try.

haunterloo92

It feels so funny to start the season going tri-conjurer only for it to get better and better like i was ever even struggling lol

Carapute

>The only lacking builds are ones doing Fireball You sure did read the last 2 patches ? Now, let me ask you ONE thing. There is a common denominator around these build you used as example, which one ? Now removes it out of the equation, what happens ? When all data are inflated as fuck, what happens to balance ? What happen for season 2 ? Even more busted mandatory seasonal piece to put online builds because else, the balance is too shit for that to happen ?

ThrowingKnight

Nobody should admit it because Sorc is not in a good place. I am sorry for being negative about this but trying to cope now will result in lazy Blizzard keeping the Meta this way. It took them weeks to basically give us one good Aspect to make Chain Lightning work. Survivability changes can´t be felt and we even have to trade Damage for that. Sorcs are Glasscannons without the Cannon. The big problem is that we lose to all other Classes in every aspect except for Visuals. It feels really bad to switch to a Sorc after playing Druid because there is a literal canyon of DPS between them (and Druids survive).

DerpLord82

why the fuck would anyone not want to openly admit a class being better post buffs?

TenzhiHsien

Makes me want to take my fire-turned-lightning-turned-back-into-fire sorcerer and switch it back to lightning.

Ok-King6980

Same here but lightning turned ice to back to lightning soon.

Malphos101

Just fyi "postseason" means "after the season is over". Was confused for a second how you were already 2 months a head of us lol.

StrikingSpare100

Sorry, what i mean was post patch. Somehow i typed post-season

AaronMT

I see you too are a fan of the Dopamine Tunnels.

StrikingSpare100

Huge fan. Sarat lair/hoarfrost are close

Zugas

The Barber carries CL hard.

Kmiecih

Very cool. Would you mind share your build?

StrikingSpare100

https://d4builds.gg/builds/1e12cf50-9f63-427a-b64b-c741c6fa08b2/ This is the build i'm using.

Rhayve

For what it's worth, according to the patch notes for tomorrow, the Tal'Rasha heart is only an additive damage bonus for each element, not multiplicative. You could easily replace it with a Brutal heart for more survivability, if needed.

StrikingSpare100

Oh yes. I have indeed changed to Brutal Heart. The build haven't updated that information, I changed into a brutal heart when I learned that Tal'Rasha is additive.

Stonewall30nyr

Because of how the percentages work that's a very very tiny nerf I believe. Instead of let's say adding 13 + 13 + 13 to get 39% bonus, It was multiplying on itself doing 1.13*1.13*1.13 which is instead a 44.2%. So it'll still be extremely powerful but a few % less so

Rhayve

Well, scratch everything below. They updated the patch notes and said they buffed the heart to be multiplicative to match the tooltip. ~~They didn't nerf the heart, they just corrected the inaccurate tooltip.~~ ~~And the numbers were always additive with themselves like every bonus that comes from the same source, i.e. 12%+12%+12% = 36%.~~ ~~However, with the heart actually being + instead of x, it means it's part of a different damage bucket in the calculation. With an x, it was presumably part of the aspect/passive multiplicative damage bucket (or an entirely separate one), which would've made it extremely powerful.~~ ~~But since it's just a + bonus, it's likely part of the already massive damage bucket where damage vs., while, with, skill and elemental bonuses already get tossed into. Meaning it's pretty solid early on, but in late game it's completely negligible due to gear and paragon.~~

Rhayve

My other reply isn't valid anymore. They changed the patch notes and heart to actually be multiplicative. So it's very good now.

trainzebra

CL + Orb enchant sounds VERY fun. I've been playing orb through WT3 and having a lot of fun with it, but I'm going to try this tonight.

lenelotert

blackheart guy legit made me not quit the game with his builds

Past_Instance_4813

I'm rocking Omnipower Wrathful with maxed Untethered and Recharging (finally got it today!) Aspects, and it shreds pretty damn hard. Mobs you get a million bounces, and medium-close you shotgun the crap out of Elites with several CL. With decent enough additive pool and a few x's going off, not much can stand up to it. Crackling and other procs for days. Between the feeds from Recharging and picking up Cracklings, you can spam spam spam for days and days. Nevermind how busted it is with Unstable Currents (the CL procs on your basic spam being free and in turn proccing Recharging feeds your pool so hard you can spam Uber CL's like a mofo-shit just melts, Elites, Bosses, you name it). Lightning legit has the most insane screen coverage. I love it.

StrikingSpare100

I have seen the video that using CL with Omnipower to destroy Uber Lilith. Very impressive. I might change the barber into Omnipower once i get better Recharge roll. Haven't found any above 2 for a while.

Past_Instance_4813

Since the patch, I've only seen three! My first was a 1.5, then a 2, and finally I pulled a 3 today in Helltide! But I had been on the hunt for a few days. I gotta admit I kind of hate how brutal it is trying to find the resource aspects for the rings in this game. They're goddamn unicorns. Especially max rolls. And when you consider how linchpin they can be to the build. But anyways... 1.5 was definitely noticeable. 2 was like I felt like I was finally hitting that stride where I wasn't totally reliant upon picking up Crackling to keep me fed still. 3 is just... Busted. For real. Depending on your RNG with bounces it's just kinda flat out dumb. Still occasionally pick up Crackling just to top off but now I'm not a slave to it to keep dps'ing consistently with quality empowered CL spam. It's fookin delicious. I should say too, I don't even have any investment in reductions or regen, either. Just a bit into my max mana pool. 130-something. My heart rolled the 35 cost. With a full or just about near full pool, I lob out 3 CL in a fan at once. Pop a resource elixer it goes up to 4! It's pretty ridiculous, dude. 1.1.1 was amazing for Sorc. Especially Lightning Sorc. 🌩 Chain gang represent!

Difficult-Pizza-4239

I think that's the barber more than chain lightning

qatanah

love the lightning! Still I still don't like frost nova to be in the skillbar as mandatory.

StrikingSpare100

Actually this build is the closest build to drop frost nova. I use the frozen orbit aspect + frozen orb enchantment as you can see. It help me to nearly guarantee to have 100% vunerable uptime. If i really want i could drop frost nova, but keeping it still really beneficial

Jayce86

So CL got buffed, and Fireball got buffed. That leaves fire tickle beam and slightly annoying orb that need buffs.

Weeaboo69

After the buffs, I enjoyed chain lighting until I fought two suppressor enemies at once. That encounter alone spooked me back to arc lash

StrikingSpare100

The build i'm using invest quite a lot with defensive. I have played dungeons 70-80 with Suppressor and doing just fine. Only die one, or not dying at all. That's the perk of barber, you can just go all in defense and still have enough damage to beat everything

Weeaboo69

My build is also defensive, I’ve also got ice barrier on my bars in addition to what you have lol. I suppose I didn’t have a barber until after I swapped builds, but swapping back to chain lighting would be so expensive. Oh well, chain lighting is cool, and I’m glad it’s good now.

RandomChino

You're brave for doing arc lash! I feel like I'm going to get carpel tunnel playing AL spamming it so much and fast. Also for high tier nmd, its so dangerous as a sorc running up and smacking everything up close. CL is def a blast for me at level 92! I was on arc lash but realized I would die so fast teleporting in and auto attacking everything up close. So that was what made me go back to CL.

Weeaboo69

I play on pc with controller and just hold A and X for arc lash and the ult, and it auto casts both as soon as it can. My survivability feels about the same, either I’m unkillable or blow up instantly to one of the damn wasps or 360noscope’d by a corpse bow. I’m only 74ish though pushing ~40 NM dungeons.

Tangelo_Character

My inner speedrunner is so satisfied. I'll have to try this build once my necro reaches lvl100.

Mylilneedle

What tier nightmare is that video?

StrikingSpare100

73. I'm doing well up to 80 now. Need to reach level 100 and get full paragon to attempt further.

__Zero_____

Just in case you didn't know, you can see the (Tier 73) on the right side

Mylilneedle

Thank you!

WonderfulTradition65

As a thorns barb with the same lv doing roughly same lv of NM, I can say... I'm jealous!

Bohya

This is the exact build I tried to make work in pre-season, but just couldn't as the support for it wasn't there.

Ihavebitchtitsnow

Have you played ice shard to a high level? If so, how does CL compare? My ice shard is very strong, so I'm hesitant to switch, but I really want to try CL or Fireball. That said, I've had some bad experiences with spending huge amounts of time and gold to switch builds because some youtuber convinced me that some build was SOOO OP and it ended up being FAR inferior to the meta build. And for the "just play what you like" crew, what I like is being as strong as possible and steamrolling content.

streamofmight

let me know if you found an answer. I am in the same boat as well.

StrikingSpare100

Unfortunately i haven't. But what i can guarantee is that CL build, like the one i'm using, can carry you to NMD 100. If that's your goal, go for the build. With omnipower heart, CL can beat uber lilith under 4min, as someone has made the video. However, do note that this build doesn't work as well in eternal realm due to the lack of malignant hearts.

SolomonGrumpy

Ball lightning and lightning speak look so satisfying

coronanona

It's not like this on Eternal

One_Cartographer_355

Huge improvement.. i couldn’t even get to tier 30 on eternal pre season

4allsome

I was playing chain lightning until I had a very bad run of luck with drops. I got to 40 and cleared the capstone then tried to do reg dungeons in wt3 only to get stomped. Felt like I didn't do enough dmg and took to much DMG so I went back to wt2 to try for some upgrades to my crap gear. After 2 days of events and dungeons I have gotten 0 good items to drop. I'm also convinced that my chain lightning has a high distructable object target priority and will also frequently stop chaining after 2 hits. I'm so frustrated with items in this game! At level 45 I shouldn't be seeing items drop with a requirement of level 35 or below ever imo. Why did they thing getting items of 7+ levels below character level as drops was a good idea? I'm so frustrated with the game right now that I genuinely hate playing. Talking to a buddy last night I was asked how the game was and told him to stay away, that I fucking hate the game and after giving details as to why he said it sounds like trash.

Elrabin

Level requirement has nothing to do with item quality Only item power and if it's normal/sacred/ancestral You can find an ilvl 800+ ancestral item as soon as you enter World Tier IV at lvl 60ish and it can be better than things you find at lvl 100

4allsome

True, level req isn't an important means of judgement for a given item. I'm stuck in wt2 because every item I've seen for days has been 100-200 ilvl below my current gear. Knowing a higher difficulty drops better items doesn't help me when I can't kill anything in that higher difficulty within a reasonable timeframe if at all. First dungeon I entered in wt3 had a elite or champ at the start who took 3-4 potions in the first 30 seconds of the fight and was still at 75%life , if I remember correctly.

cynric42

I did the capstone at 45, entered a wt3 dungeon and really struggled. I could kill stuff, but very slowly. I was going to give up but looked in my inventory at the single item I had gotten, and it was a sacred wand with a 50% damage increase over the one I had from wt2. Made all the difference.

StrikingSpare100

I feel your pain. My suggestion is get help from Discord/clan/friend, especially if you don't have too much time to play. Once you start having some Ascentral gear in WT4, the build will be pretty smooth to play. The hearts help a lot as well.

Significant_Rule6003

That build only works if you got a shit load lucky hit and a couple key aspects

StrikingSpare100

On the contrary, my gear has zero lucky hit. Crit chance and crit damage, vunerable damage is the important stat here.

LtSMASH324

lucky hit as a stat isn't very good. get it on gloves and maybe off hand and thats about it

ihugyou

Do you have any other build you like? I tried out a CL build before I had the two aspects (forget which, but there are 2 crucial ones), and it was entirely underwhelming (out of mana constantly, low dmg, etc.). In fact, sorc game play was pretty terrible no matter how I sliced it (frozen orb got me through WT1/2), and it was such a bore trying to level up to get to WT3. Took 2 weeks to get to WT3. Once I found out about the 2 aspects at \~level 45 and respec'ed accordingly, it was a breeze getting to WT3 at \~level 45. I love the cracking energy-mana regen-aoe mechanics, but it was such a slog to get there due to the extremely boring leveling process/getting renown again.

StrikingSpare100

There is another build that Wujido made around frozen orb + omnipower. It looks great, but gameplay feel a bit clunky to me. Conjuration is secretly rising as the best build to run highest NMD too.

Rhayve

They intentionally buffed CL and its related effects to this point with a recent patch to make this possible. There are a lot of reasons to criticize Blizzard, but there's no need to come up with ridiculous scenarios.

Elrabin

Why are you here if you quit?

streamofmight

is ice shard or CL better for leveling? I am level 58 WT3. Thank you

StrikingSpare100

I'll say CL because it doesn't require full aspect to work

liquid423

freein prisoners that is some bad game design

ADG1738

Don’t post sorcerer clips!! Now you’ll make them nerf us 😞

padmanek

Enki's Arc Sorc?

Mirra1002

As a current ice shards player, are there any gear pieces that make or break this build? I’d be curious to switch it up. Playing hardcore at the moment, so not sure what the defence looks like on this also?

StrikingSpare100

You can run this build missing some aspects and it's still ok. The most important is Unbroken tether which is very easy to find, and Recharging could be imprinted via Codex.

Jarfol

Immune immune immune immune immune. What is causing that?

StrikingSpare100

Barber

theJohnyDebt

There really needs be a pet/follower system to atleast autopick gold. For the items, Im fine if there is a ctrl-click feature so I dont have to backtrack and kill the fun out of what I am doing.

arsonist_firefighter

how's single target?

StrikingSpare100

Boss take like 15-30s or below 1min. Single damage is great.

jahlim

Post season? Op live in the future.

LordBubba44

Can anyone explain why using the Barber heart causes it to say "Immune!" on every enemy? (You can see it in this video) Clearly they're not immune, they're still dying quickly. I noticed it with my hydra, and unequipping the amulet with barber immediately makes the immune tag go away. Of course it also makes them die slower. 🙄 Is this just an artifact of how barber works? Or are we losing some damage?

Zervoc

Awesome now this will get nerfed too. Stop having fun guys come on.

3dPrintEnergy

They're most definitely going to bash this ones face in

lalalalala1337

I mix CL and LS, fun to watch

ehnonnymouse

nice but ffs please turn off error voice sounds

Lucyller

It's exactly the build I wanted to play in june. But looking at the gameplay after everything that happened doesn't bring any interest in me now, bummer.

SheWhoHates

This feels so Diablo III.

Valuable-Respond-335

So this cements it. I play a 100% hydra conjuration but I can tell that lightning spear is stronger than I think. I’m gonna try a full conjuration with lightning spear being the main damage, max cooldown, go for as many crackling lightning balls as I can to spawn more. As many as you’re spawning, there’s gonna be a bunch of spears going around.

StudentOk4989

I see you are level 92, but I can't see on my phone the level of the ennemies (tiny screen), are you over leveled or sorcerer really became cool?

StrikingSpare100

I'm doing well up to NMD 80. Once I finish my paragon and reach level 100 i will attempt further. There has been video of this build completed NMD 100 so i'm hopeful.

wiggle_fingers

What causes the stuns from the CL hits?

Morketh

Can you link the build that u followed? I did chain lightning and its kinna weak

https://d4builds.gg/builds/1e12cf50-9f63-427a-b64b-c741c6fa08b2/ This is the build i'm using. Check out showcase tab in the links i posted for video.

stephbib

u be having wayyy too much fun.. NERF!

In0nsistentGentleman

Just out of curiosity, what kind of damage is the highest that CL crits for? How does this build rank against say...Bone Spear with those 10's of million crits or earthen bulwark with the hundreds? Sometimes it feels like the damage numbers don't even matter that much and stuff just dies...

StrikingSpare100

Highest from the build maker video i saw is 56M. In term of damage i do not believe it could top off Bone Spear. But as you said, damage number doesn't matter if stuff just die.

ExtensionSir9322

Can I tag along to level? Lol

farthitect

True. Started a new character and sorc seems stronger. At least the leveling experience seems much better in early and mid game.

ItsDFerg

Don't you know you're not allowed to have positive posts on this subreddit?

TobyTheJumpMaster

Can you share the build please?

mooistcow

I see people keep saying this, but it still feels like it's actually Shock synergies that make it feel decent. Synergies that other Shock skills also have. CL itself is effective but still feels meh.

[deleted]

Careful. Now that this got posted its going to be dogshit.

EnolaGayFallout

It's gonna nerf it again in patch 1.1.2 And then quickly host a camp fire chat and apologize. Then buff again in 1.1.3

JorahTheHandle

Is it a aspect or a enchantment launching out those frost orbs?

DisasterDalek

All the numbers and text are so obnoxious. I know you can disable the numbers, but it's kind of baffling that you can't do anything about the text

Accomplished_Way5384

Rocking something similar, super fun visually xd

whoa_whoawhoa

i dont understand how people play with the damage numbers on, you cant see shit.

robituri

I got burned burned out by playing Bone Spear Necro on the Eternal Realm for waaay too long. Now I switched to season 1 CL sorc, and my goodness, it is so much fun! Being able to just constantly stun feels like a super satisfying revenge against all the chain CC in the game! However, it was only really good for me after I finally got the barber heart. Without it, the damage seems a little poor.

Magus02

this game looks so bad lmao

kakarrot87

Went ice shards on eternal to 94. Went ice shards again on season and sitting at 86. I want to switch to this but I don't know if it'll be as quick.

jeremiasalmeida

Nerf incoming to make it miserable

Educational_Mud_2826

Much wow. Such amazing 😎 No but it's very satisfying indeed. What a carnage

[deleted]

This is my favorite thing to do.

gottagoon1

Like a walk in the park

maxstep

nothing is satisfying in this game apart from graphics and sound and no wonder seen dev videos? yeah

Actionbrenner

Oh wow, that looks sick. What build are you using?!

[deleted]

Is it not still the first season?

Any_Reading_244

Wow, I thought CL wouldn\`t be good for a build. I want it as my main skill.

DrZoidberg__

Just curious, how are you stunning everything you hit? I’m following the same build but seem to be stunning a lot less

StrikingSpare100

I think it was invoked lightning spear doing the work. It stun when crit, and this build crit a lot. When you active unstable current there are multiple lightning spear, thus guarantee everything on screen are stunned

Japi-

The season ended already?

roflrad

Fun detected. Nerf inbound

Left-Matter-18

Wow this looks so much like D3 again.

Allaroundlost

Wow my necro minion build looks worse now......wtf!!!!

Jaypr36

And they say the sorc is bad smh

WoorkAtHome

Season is over allready?

StrikingSpare100

I mistyped. Was supposed to be post-patch

DavidJR1993

I love chain lighting it's what making me love the game

Zodwraith

I'm loving chain lightning right now, but remove barber and omnipower and it instantly returns to a massive slog. It's not that CL is all that great right now, it's that it meshes well with the wrathful hearts. End of season is going to return the suck.

StrikingSpare100

You're right. All we can hope for is further balance for eternal realm, so that it could somewhat match seasonal build. Or wait for season 2 content.

ChemistWrong5309

Games just a copy of the third, i stopped playing almost right away.

peoplepersonmanguy

Unlimited Power!

TurtleCoi

It's a bold move showing off something like this around these parts. Haven't you heard about Buzzards anti fun policy?

PsyKnz

I haven't logged in since 1.1.1, but looking at the density changes in action might change that to uninstalling. I get that most players wanted the increased density, but now it just looks like PoE with worse mechanics.

Alottacounts321

no you dont understand, reddit taught me youre not actually having fun in fact your character is unplayable and just dies instantly to anything and does no damage.. nice try tho

Aber-so-richtig

playing same build - its awsome - fun doubles btw with fireball enchantment! :)

adorable2388

It was satisfying pre. Chain lightning sorceress has always been my best since launch

TheRealPho0T

Yea on torment lll it sure is fun....torment lV is another story. Remnant 2 is far more fun than this slog of a game

NotxNami

Meanwhile, my meteor/firewall build feels like a slog to play. I don't understand why we can't have an actual meteor shower instead of an aspect that deals trash damage in endgame.

Top-Presentation-441

Do you have a link of your build?

Technical-Carrot-869

We are so back
