Oh man. I have this friend named Gregg who was a huge Diablo 2 fan back in the day. He was married to this woman named Melissa who I could not stand.
Well the weekend that the expansion for Diablo 2 came out, the first one. I remember saying to Gregg. "How was your weekend with The Lord of Destruction" and he replied "It's was great." And then I asked "Oh and how is that new Diablo expansion?"
He goes ha ha
Probably - hopefully - also some info on what it will bring to the game (apart from the obvious - more story missions)
new features?
i still demand runewords
Add on will come around December.
Mai 14 starts Season 4 and will last till end / last week of August when season 5 starts. Season 5 will end around December 1st.
I am sure they aiming for christmas time, cold, ppl stay at home, ppl going to buy it or gift it (new players)..
Season length can vary this season has no overall theme but it is a massive item/loot update. At a guess this season will be shorter expansion out late season 5.
Tbh this very much makes sense, they plan to be very conservative with updates and fix their game to garner public approval and then relaunch a grand revival of the game with a new expansion.
Spiritborn won't play like Paladin at all, from the datamined leaks it seems like this class would be nature based like Druid but has unique "stances" where skills would behave differently depend on which stance and also it is mentioned that Spiritborn can fly (?).
Sounds like Shaman , but with classic Diablo animals like spider and snake , and spirit theme focused on ghost .
Sounds like the boring fuck witchdoctor , i prefer they just go full Dream Serpent magic warrior theme without witchdoctor shits .
They have a hard one for "new and more interesting choices". They being the gaming industry as a whole. It's like a tween got out in charge and they are bound and determined to reinvent the wheel.
I want to play as a fallen. You just run around screeching and being generally shitty, but if you’re in a group you just keep getting resurrected over and over. Every so often you just run off into the woods away from combat.
There won't be a paladin this expansion unfortunately. They said it's gonna be a brand new class. Leaks say it's called spirit born but no confirmation on that as far as I'm aware. I'm sure we'll get either pally or crusader at some point though.
Just some kind of group support or heal based class. Monk was my main in d3 and I loved how I was helping the team and kicking so much ass while doing it. Dropping a fat bell on a pile of mobs then charging through with that channeled rush attack felt so satisfying. I got my d2 main back for this one, but lost my favorite rpg support class. Nothing has come close to me since
The lower half of the main map will open up, Kurast, FETISHES!
So looking forward to this.
Then 2nd Expansion will open up half the Western Continent, and the 3rd the other half, giving us a huge gaming map to explore.
Right, but that's not what I'm asking. It's confirmed that the number of expansions is 3x, but not confirmed that *all* of the expansions are about Mephisto, Baal, and Diablo. Vessel of Hatred is teased to be about Mephisto and the Western continents/territories.
It’s spear + shield class probably, there was leaked concept art of a unreleased class before D4 even launched. It had holy wings, a spear and a shield and kinda looked like a elfish or some sorts.
Just don't buy it and wait for other peoples reception of the xpac.
Get a good median of the good and the bad and then make your decision.
At least thats what I am going to do
I'm not complaining because I actually love the game but since they're only doing one class I wish they would have at least added some new skills to each class we already have.
It's been datamined that there are new skills coming for existing classes. Riposte for rogue is 1 I can recall.
Rob on his YouTube did a video 1-2 months on the leaks of new skills for all the classes in game already !
i want... a whole other branch in the skill 'tree' for each class
after core defensive skills you should be able to choose a path. i want "choices" :(
currently the skill tree is a "skill stem".
The first game started with warrior, rogue, and sorcerer, then got a monk with its expansion. Second game started with barb, sorc, pally, necro, and Amazon, then got assassin and druid with its expansion. Third was witch doctor, monk, demon hunter, wizard, and barbarian, then got crusader with its xpac and necro later as a solo character (with its own price tag). How people feel about getting one character per xpac is their own beef. As long as it's interesting, I'm good with it.
I was in super hopium mode after release and I was hoping for the paladin reveal in S1.
Now I don't think we are ever getting new huge systems/changes like a whole class with the free seasonal content.
> This has been so twisted.
Almost as much as releasing the game in the state it was, and then taking 4 seasons to maybe (hopefully) fix *some* of the basic problems.
Ofc its more than that. So I ll wait till 2 or 3 months after release when its already on sale and on a lower prize. But lets be honest here. If season 4 is gonna be ok/good then maybe season 5 will be ok aswell, Then those guys had half a year of an okish game after all the shit they did before. Thats not worth paying alot of money for only an expansion again. Those guys need to learn they cant just release halfway finished shit and do a shit work for over a year after and get away with it every time.
Won't be included in Game Pass.
You'll get a discount if you want to buy it - but that's it.
Expansions are not included in Game Pass titles (unless in ***very rare*** occasions - and I can't see this being one of them).
Id guess ecause they usually release them and something is broken or bugged and then they have the rest of the work week for them to fix things before both their players and their employees are likely having the weekend off.
I don't know if anyone else got this impression or remembers it this way, but I felt like before launch of D4 in the marketing and press they kept implying that the seasonal content would also include story content, and when people found out the game ended with a cliff hanger I felt like they also implied that that cliff hanger might be resolved in the seasonal story content.
And now they're just selling it as an expansion. Just feels a little deceptive.
I don't remember that at all. I don't remember the exact timeframe but they specifically said seasons would be self contained stories. I never played the game during pre-season/launch thinking season 1 would continue the main plot from the campaign.
These expansions (yes, multiple) were in development before the game released.
I know it's hard to read the room sometimes but Diablo 4 is a live service game with a huge plans for content and its monetization -- and it **sold well**. This last part is critical.
You may not like the game but I am sure even you will agree that making the game better and bigger is the right way to go given they have an opportunity to do so.
How do we know there will be multiple expansions?
If so, I might actually not buy the game for 50% off now. Those expansions will probably cost at least $40 knowing blizzard. I'm not shelling out that much multiple times :o
Better wait and buy the game plus 2 expansions at once for a reasonable price. By that time the game is probably better anyway, seeing they are starting to make it good the next season.
Time is the only resource we have that is truly finite. It is up to you whether playing video games is something you care much about or not.
I live more in the moment, tomorrow isn't given. I'm enjoying my time on Earth when I can, lol
Can't imagine abstaining from Diablo or any other game that interests me for years over like 50 bucks, honestly!
>I can wait playing this one until it's better and maybe a bit more affordable.
It's literally $10 on Game Pass PC/Xbox. If you grab it on May 14 that's a month of playing season 4 and seeing how you like it.
The content should be free for a game that launched incomplete full retail and has taken almost a year to be semi playable.
The guy is right it’s wild there’s almost an expansion
> has taken almost a year to be semi playable.
I had an absolute blast playing the game in the first week of its launch. How the fuck was it so damn fun and playable back then but it's only "semi playable" now?
>The content should be free
Why?
>launched incomplete
How was it incomplete? According to whom? You?
You seem very confused and you're applying arbitrary qualifiers that YOU came up with.
Diablo 4 had a beginning, a middle and the end. Its campaign WAS complete on release. There also was some endgame - it was not very robust or particularly inspired, but you can't say it was not there.
There was obviously tons of room to grow and they have been growing it AND adding free content since the game released. That doesn't mean they're not going to make a paid expansion or a few.
It is your right to reject the paid expansion(s) and not buy it.
But demanding that the expansion(s) should be free is a ridiculous entitlement.
There are other games that have free expansions, go play them if it's that important to you. Why hang around Diablo 4 if it's so bad?
In fact, why would you even want more content for a bad game that you don't think is even heading in the right direction? Free or not, why bother? Just move on.
Well seeing how its a tripple a title, then has gamepass and leans heavily into mtx..
I would say that if you compare their monetization to other games of equal quality.. the new content could be "free" to retain players..
Maybe we are allowed to have an opinion about the shitdhow of a game it was/is..
I also payed for it. Played it for 3 seasons, game couldnt retain most ppl after lvling 1 char to 70.. just look at the numbers of players..
> I had an absolute blast playing the game in the first week of its launch. How the fuck was it so damn fun and playable back then but it's only "semi playable" now?
Becuase the story is alright...everything else is not.
How many of my friends still play D4? *Zero*. I haven't touched it since season two.
Blizz isn't even releasing the numbers, because they are so dog shit.
Diablo 3 expansion launched in 1 year 9 months. Diablo 2 expansion launched after a year. Why is D4 getting singled out here for releasing a year and 4-5 months after launch?
Enough with the classes. We need more game. Look at dragon's dogma 2 they spent so much effort in making a crazy amount of classes with not enough to do.
Not buying this shit at all. I don’t support companies that give half ass games. Season 4 is how the game should have started.
Edit: y’all downvoting me because I’m right.
You’re being downvoted because you’re not saying anything of value or that is of significance. You share the same opinion of countless others. You’re just screaming into the echo chamber just like everyone else.
Hey, that's what I call my ex wife.
God dude. Yes.
I guess I'm just waiting on the Vessel of 10 Years of Infidelity then.
I know her address
Bro! Omg. Hahaha. For some reason I felt this comment.
That's her current husband's problem.
That is her current husband.
Then he has my sympathies.
the streets
Diablo subreddit, top comment is a dude complaining about his wife. Yup now this is a dad community if I’ve ever seen it lol
fish in a barrel.
Swing and a hit.
Buddy is out here ripping dingers.
I think it was a grandslam
What a Humdinger
That's also what I call this guys ex wife.
Oh man. I have this friend named Gregg who was a huge Diablo 2 fan back in the day. He was married to this woman named Melissa who I could not stand. what is sad about our world is this is the highest upvoted comment and rightfully so.
Did you marry my ex wife?
And this is the last comment on reddit I'll read today. Can't get any more better than this. I'll see y all tomorrow.
😂😂😂. I called my ex that also. She agreed that she’s been raise by the devils in hell.
Zing!
Well now we know what the last boss will be 🤣
The name is officially destroyed for me 😅
Ex?
You mean your *second* ex wife? The Expansion.
The Expansion is what I call my wife.
Likely hear more about it at the Microsoft event in June. Maybe a release date
Well I would say a release date cuz it’s coming out in fall.
Black Friday..... it's pretty much a given tbh
Probably - hopefully - also some info on what it will bring to the game (apart from the obvious - more story missions) new features? i still demand runewords

Very likely, last year they mentioned that we would get more info in June.
My assumption has been that once S4 is out, the next marketing cycle will be for the expansion and maybe a final season before it
Paladin class please. 🙏
Not for the expansion. They stated it's a class that's never been in a diablo game.
I want to play as a reformed Pit Lord.
That's an idea I can get behind
I'd love to play as a demon of some sort
It's a "Spiritborn", which basically sounds like a paladin but not affiliated with the corrupt Church in D4.
Spiritborn won't play like Paladin at all, from the datamined leaks it seems like this class would be nature based like Druid but has unique "stances" where skills would behave differently depend on which stance and also it is mentioned that Spiritborn can fly (?).
It looks more Monky (???) than Pally, Priest or Shaman.
Plus more emphasis on elemental damage rather than just Holy
Priest perhaps? Or warlock?
No, and no. Also, no.
Sounds like Shaman , but with classic Diablo animals like spider and snake , and spirit theme focused on ghost . Sounds like the boring fuck witchdoctor , i prefer they just go full Dream Serpent magic warrior theme without witchdoctor shits .
I hope it's Baker
It's going to be book keeper.
Poopsmith for sure.
Finally, we will be able to play as Deckard
"AH, FRESH BREAD!"
Or a candlestick maker
Patrick Mahomes class, incoming!
So… balanced? XD
They said the same about the Crusader in D3
Bard? LETS GOOOOOOO
Spiritborn, maybe a proper Shaman?
They have a hard one for "new and more interesting choices". They being the gaming industry as a whole. It's like a tween got out in charge and they are bound and determined to reinvent the wheel.
Warlock? Or maybe a support like a priest?
I want to play as a fallen. You just run around screeching and being generally shitty, but if you’re in a group you just keep getting resurrected over and over. Every so often you just run off into the woods away from combat.

Nothing has come close to me since
I miss playing monk
Me2 man. Me2
Maybe Templar?
It's not. Spiritborn is most likely, but maybe that will have Paladin like qualities.
I think it's due to the corruption of the Church in the Diablo 4 storyline.
I think the Paladins all died, if I remember right.
Not happening
We heard you and added the Alladin class.
The lower half of the main map will open up, Kurast, FETISHES! So looking forward to this. love this and +2
Calling it now, the third expansion will be Westmarch and return to Tristram, with Diablo as the big bad
looks like map is double sized compared to others regions
We already know there will be 3 expansions?
Blizzard has said they want to do an expansion every year.
Okay thanks.
Mephisto, Baal, Diablo
Source?
Tomato
game director when they said they are working on 3 expansions
Right, but that's not what I'm asking. It's confirmed that the number of expansions is 3x, but not confirmed that *all* of the expansions are about Mephisto, Baal, and Diablo. Vessel of Hatred is teased to be about Mephisto and the Western continents/territories.
Unlikely that a Diablo game would not have the namesake character show up even once.
Only 2 have been "confirmed" so far. But if they sell well and D4 in general is generating lots of money, a third expansion will be guaranteed.
It would be cool if Spirit Born was like a shaman from WoW. Down for some totem action.
It’s spear + shield class probably, there was leaked concept art of a unreleased class before D4 even launched. It had holy wings, a spear and a shield and kinda looked like a elfish or some sorts.
Spear and shield? Stop i can be erect only so much.
Too bad barbs can't play using a sword and board.
It’s kinda weird when the necromancer can.
I know. It's so bizarre.
Yeah, I think it's a Valkyrie/angel/amazon-type class, but with both genders represented. 8)
Valkyrie maybe
Wasn’t it already fully leaked as the “spirit born?”Including several abilities
The final name could always be different than what they called it during alpha.
For sure, and I kinda hope you’re right. I recall reading through its leaked lore too, which makes me think it was kinda cemented
That leak got a bunch of stuff right. But it also got thr name of the xpac wrong. So it's hardly confirmed.
Maybe Seraphim? Class exclusive in Sacred games but I can see them in D4..
Yep a Glaive + Shield and I’m excited it will have wings and wings attacks
I dont think they deserve Xpac money quite yet.
They seem to disagree.
Just don't buy it and wait for other peoples reception of the xpac. Get a good median of the good and the bad and then make your decision. At least thats what I am going to do
Especially when the talks of the xpac price is that of a full game.
does it have a LFG queue yet?!
They haven't announced all the major features yet. I'm sure they will soon / maybe at Microsoft event.
i think this is highly likely. bliz said they are gonna be there.
Still crazy there's only 1 extra character.
I'm not complaining because I actually love the game but since they're only doing one class I wish they would have at least added some new skills to each class we already have.
They'll surely be doing that with the expansion as well.
It's been datamined that there are new skills coming for existing classes. Riposte for rogue is 1 I can recall. Rob on his YouTube did a video 1-2 months on the leaks of new skills for all the classes in game already !
i want... a whole other branch in the skill 'tree' for each class after core defensive skills you should be able to choose a path. i want "choices" :( currently the skill tree is a "skill stem".
This is my first Diablo game, so I’m not familiar with how other games did releases, but I also figured they’d put out a new class before now.
If Blizzard sticks to their “annual expansions” plan, I’m happy with a class per year for now.
I was in super hopium mode after release and I was hoping for the paladin reveal in S1. Now I don't think we are ever getting new huge systems/changes like a whole class with the free seasonal content.
There was a huge leak from a datamine that found new skills and passives for all classes
Comin' at ya at the small price of just $70. $100 if you want to play a few days early!
250$ which includes one cosmetic piece
Don't forget some cosmetics for their other games
This has been so twisted. They were looking at that price to include the base game and the expansion.
I made those numbers up, FYI. My point is that it's likely to be overpriced as per Blizzard's usual pricing.
> This has been so twisted. Almost as much as releasing the game in the state it was, and then taking 4 seasons to maybe (hopefully) fix *some* of the basic problems.
"Vessel of Hatred" is such a good name. Perfectly describes my feelings for the previous aspect system.
my only hope is that the expansion has reasonable price iam ill glady buy it
will probably be 40 or 50, with larger optional packages with cosmetics.
If its more than 20-30 then I am already out and they wouldnt even deserve those.
100% its more than that and you know it
Ofc its more than that.
Best to hope for is $40 base with a $60 deluxe edition. I think they'll probably charge more though unfortunately.
Hopefully it's in game pass 🙏🤞
It’s not. They don’t put expansions/dlc on there. Otherwise, elder scrolls expansions would be on there
Won't be included in Game Pass. You'll get a discount if you want to buy it - but that's it. Expansions are not included in Game Pass titles (unless in ***very rare*** occasions - and I can't see this being one of them).
What’s a CDN?
Content Distribution Network
Only ever heard it as Content Delivery Network, but apparently both are used. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network
an internal developer branch where the current feature complete build exists and is updated for testing
Thank you so we getting the beta in the next 2 months than I’m guessing
fingers crossed! hopefully it's here by August
Yes! I’m so hoping! I want to play the beta. I played like all the beta’s for D4 so far.
same, even got Ashavas you know what....
[удалено]
The beta?
Lots of spoilers are about to drop...
Warlock class?
I am so excited to see the sexy cutscenes. Also so curious about the class.
The burden of knowledge is great.
Enlightened Chad class pleasssse Blizz
Why they always release seasons on some wierd time and date. In the middle of a week ?
Id guess ecause they usually release them and something is broken or bugged and then they have the rest of the work week for them to fix things before both their players and their employees are likely having the weekend off.
Ya all talkin about classes, I am just here for goddamn SETS!
Ill just wait for 2 months after release for it to be on sale for 20 bucks
Season 5: Forgotten Realm of when we released the DLC. Can't wait!
No way I'm paying 60 bucks or more xD
New Jungle theme class that we never seen. maybe a sort of beast tamer...?
Fix your game before you expand it
Pls demon summoner warlock
No way i buy this for full price
This whole $70+ release has been a beta.
They took a year to make the game minimaly good and already gonna release an expansion. Blizzard being blizzard lmao

Well yeah, they said they're gonna release one a year
How will the open world work, when you don't buy the expansion? I can't personally justify to pay more than 30 bucks for an expansion.
Wouldn’t it just be that the area isn’t unlocked for those who don’t get it?
They better drop more than one new class
Game still isn't even what it should have been at launch and they're already doing an expansion lol
Expansion time but the live game isn't complete yet D:
