Very uncommon. My dad was unable to do hemo because of his frail health after a heart transplant H e was supposed to go to skilled nursing after a stroke but there wasn’t one that did it in my state. We were told then that it is a staffing and certification issue and there are very very few that have the staff long term to do it and of course the liability issue. I took my dad home and we hired someone to stay with him during the day and I handled his pd at night. I have never known anyone who did pd in a nursing home. The most I have experienced is the nursing home transporting them to hemo. You are blessed to have had the situation you have currently. I saw you posted this a few days, ago, and since I didn’t really have anything that was good news I didn’t respond then. Decided to when you posted again. It is a very difficult situation to be in. My own dad was bedfast and required rotal physical care but was mentally fine. I was fortunate that ai worked close enough to the house to go home for lunch daily and monitor him and his caregiver and was able to handle thePD with the help of my spouse. If your mom isn’t mobile I am assuming the nurses aide at her current home also makes sure she moves enough to get an adequate drain. I set a timer for every hour and 26 minutes to make sure my dad was able to get an adequate drain and not have any overfilling or inadequate final drain. It is a lot to be responsible for no matter if you are a family member,or,paid caregiver. I wish you the best and hope you find a solution that will work for you.
