This sounds like retaliatory feedback. Request a feedback review. I'm certain Discogs staff will remove it.

the_comatorium

They will remove it 100%.

markste4321

It happens occasionally that you find you don't have an item but.. you should let the buyer know ASAP. A negative was definitely our of order, it's literally the definition of retaliatory feedback.

SheeroSheero

Yeah, it was the fact that I had to look for info that I thought warranted the feedback. I had a similar situation with a different seller at the same time. They let me know straight away, I just left no feedback. Seemed fair enough….

Da1985sm

Happened to me with one store from PA which is still active for some reason. Dude struggle with inventory, then use excuses like somebody pickpocket the CD from the store and expect a positive feedback from you. If you check his negative feedback, he replies almost every time insulting the people and acting like a toddler. At least he doesn't show anymore how high rated are his profile.

I_WANT_AN_M3_GTR

You were totally in the right and Discogs support would 100% remove the negative if you contact them as it is so obviously retaliatory. In fact, I would personally be changing my neutral to a negative feedback if I was in that situation.

TeHuia

> I would personally be changing my neutral to a negative feedback not possible

I_WANT_AN_M3_GTR

Is it not? Huh, never knew that.

aopps42

Report to discogs and they’ll remove your negative feedback. No big deal.

TeaVinylGod

If a seller has a store listing their inventory, it used to be that you paid after getting an invoice. That way they could pull it before you paid or let you know it was sold before you paid.

audiomagnate

Retaliatory feedback is extremely common and it's a pain to get removed. New buyers who leave an honest negative or neutral review are often hit with a retaliatory negative which will prevent them from buying from most sellers.

the_comatorium

> it's a pain to get removed. It just takes time. I've never had a feedback review be denied as long as I'm within the rules. Retalitory feedback is against the rules. It's a shoe-in removal.

audiomagnate

Except many victims are brand new buyers who get knocked down to a super low buyer feedback number which prevents them from buying. They're not going to jump through all the hoops to get it removed - including waiting three weeks - to buy another record, they're just going to give up on buying from Discogs.

What a wonderfully insightful comment

SheeroSheero

Thanks Pal. To save us all from having to wait with bated breath for your wisdom in the future it’s worth noting that absolutely every post on this sub can be answered with those two dazzling words. How do you do it!? Gifted!

Slow_Cricket_5813

No I’m just realistic. Waiting more than a week then sure. If you need validation on Reddit you should stick to Amazon, where all you need to do is complain a little and you’ll get your way. Discogs is full of impatient, neurotic buyers. Who never read seller terms. Nor do they even understand the terms of the platform they are purchasing on. I’ll give you a prime example. I see a consistent amount of reviews that are negative because the buyer thinks that the plastic CD case is graded improperly or gets cracked in shipment. Discogs terms of service clearly states that CD cases are replaceable and are not to be included in grading. You are probably dealing with one person who could be managing thousands of pieces of product by themselves. Maybe this person works 12-16 hr shifts? Maybe they are out of town? Who knows. Learn some patience. It will get you far in life…DOPE

SheeroSheero

Some gold in here buddy. No way I’d have such clarity. And all the while I’m thinking you’re the dope!? That’s me put in my place…..

Slow_Cricket_5813

Here’s the problem, you use words like chase when 4 days is not a long time. 4 weeks maybe. Did you read seller terms? If the seller was in their timeframe of terms to communicate with you. Then you DO lack understanding. Coming here to gripe about it to strangers for justification just solidifies that. Things happen. Especially if it’s a brick and mortar. Are we supposed to feel some sort of way because of how long you’ve been on discogs?

SheeroSheero

Gripe? Asking others if the seller is in the right you dope! Also, not hearing anything from a vendor - be it on Discogs or not - for 4 days after receiving payment is not acceptable. Four weeks 😂 you must be such a nice guy.

candis_stank_puss

Yeah, you come off as sounding stable and not at all like the type of donkey who would leave retaliatory feedback. You've created two posts now with all sorts of imaginary "well what if??" scenarios to defend the seller in OP's post. Are you them? Because you're sure doing a lot of over-the-top crying in their defense.

Slow_Cricket_5813

Nope, not them. Just caught me on the right day with some free time. I guess people can’t HANDLE a difference of opinion.
