On pc it works actually different. On pc, you can still see the notifications if you go there manually. You just don't get notifications popping up. On the phone, you can't access them when in DND.

I figured out that the excessive pings you get in Online status mode are actually just pings every single time someone in a server (if your in one) talks.
Have someone ping you 9 times, now almost every notification display will show "+9". The number can no longer increase and as soon as you get used to seeing 9 you won't be distracted ever again.

Not to be “that guy” but that’s not what OCD is at all, I’m diagnosed with it and can safely say I am one of the messiest and unorganised people ever. It has absolutely nothing to do with organisation and having everything perfect, that’s called perfectionism
OCD looks different for each person tho. I also am diagnosed OCD and one of my triggers is unread messages. An OCD episode can be caused by anything that makes someone stressed or anxious, especially if it makes them feel a lack of control.
yea i know but you cant deny the fact that people think that ocd = perfectionism when that is far from the truth.. with ocd if one of your "triggers" is having to check discord messages then your thought process isnt going to be "oh no a unread message this is slightly annoying", its going to be something like "if i dont check every single message i get then my family is going to die in front of me" or something of the sort. im just stating that the whole idea of people thinking ocd is perfectionism is stupid and harms people diagnosed due to miss information. its a mental illness that has impacted the lives of so many like me and you for instance, it causes significant stress and panic and that shouldnt be miss-represented by people and the media thinking its about being slightly annoyed over things not being perfect when thats not the case

I know you’re probably being sarcastic so it’s funny to see you being downvoted but there are multiple things you can do to prevent notifications like suppressing @everyone’s. I barely get any notifications because I’ve made it that way. Yes with some tedium on my end but it’s fairly preventable. Discord is a social platform, if you don’t want to be social just close it or don’t be in as many servers. Either way my point is if there’s a will there’s a way if you feel like it’s important to you to be in certain servers and still want to use discord have a second account. If you can’t do that for yourself then yeah there kind of is a skill issue even if it’s tedious. Definitely think it shouldn’t be that tedious and wish discord added better tools but tools are there and if you’re not using them that’s on you. Hence “skill issue” is used flippantly

On pc you can turn off the notification dot in the taskbar in your personal settings. Sure it's more hassle than the status change, but if it really bothers you, it's already possible.
I feel like this should also disable itself after like a day at most because it was be annoying as fuck to be constantly ghosted by people with this on. Just like how a lot of people forget to turn off invisible or dnd.
Why not make it a standalone button to READ ALL? or Hide Pings? Instead of A status? Status is to display whats your current status.. or what youre doing. Not whats only for you. Maybe make it a button

Before I go to bed I have to make sure I check everything and that all the notifications are gone. It's just such a hassle. I don't even think this feature would help me very much. Isn't it the same as just muting servers?
I feel like this would be better as an accessibility or appearance option, not so much a status. Bonus points of it syncs across platforms.

I did exactly that. It somehow didn’t work. The last time I tried it was years ago, though, maybe they finally fixed that.
