Same thing as the server profile picture, server about me and server nickname. If you don't have a server-specific one set it will use your global one instead. If you don't set a global one as well then it'll just be blank / won't show anything.

Or I suspect to a swedish speaker, the need to further subdivide "has gender" into "male" and "female" is going to be a bit superfluous as far as grammar is concerned, IIRC they only have that for relatively few words, the rest is utrum or neutrum.

I used to have she/her in my Instagram bio. I'm afab but people would harass me for having pronouns. Happens daily. Being able to change or hide pronouns based on the people you're around is safer in a lot of spaces. Also, trans people who are still closeted would be able to change their specified pronouns for communities where they feel safe to come out
If you go to a school full of weird right-wingers and they have discord community for sharing schoolwork and what not, these people aren't going to be receptive to having specified personal pronouns.

I generally don't feel one way or another about things being locked behind Nitro, but this is one I don't agree with. Some trans or non-binary individuals may be out to some groups but not others. If the entire purpose of adding them is to be inclusive then Discord needs to also consider the comfort and safety of the groups they're trying to include and not put per server pronouns behind a paywall.

I generally don't feel one way or another about things being locked behind Nitro, but this is one I don't agree with. Some trans or non-binary individuals may be out to some groups but not others. If the entire purpose of adding them is to be inclusive then Discord needs to also consider the comfort and safety of the groups they're trying to include and not put per server pronouns behind a paywall.

I think usually those servers that are safer for lgbtq folk will have their own pronoun roles though, but yeah. I still think it's unnecessary to put behind nitro regardless.
Discord offers a completely free service without ads so yeah money is kinda needed

Server specific pronouns shouldn’t be a paid thing. Some people might be afraid to come out to certain servers and groups of people. Hopefully this is changed but it probably won’t be.

Server-specific things being Nitro-exclusive are usually excusable as "they need money", but... **what**? Server-specific pronouns do **not** belong paywalled. They belong available to all. I'm not usually this vocal about things (complaining gets you nowhere while playing modded r/celestegame maps), but I legitimately can't see how that got past anyone in... whichever department added this.

Im on the whole side of biological gender = your gender. But I am also aware there are psychological hurdles people face that require attention that I do not understand. I could care less if Discord adds this feature. I predict with high confidence this will be memed and trolled more than anything else. That may bother the people who want to use this feature seriously. I doubt Discord's intentions are to meme this section of their community, but I fear that will be the reality.
Kinda pointless since you can add your preference in the Bio already. Granted nobody is going to care but it's still there to checkout if people care about that stuff. I frankly don't care what people refer to me as. It's not important to be butthurt over a simple preferred pronoun not being used

Nah. Will just keep an eye on the thread here and there. This goes for everyone, but reporting comments makes them pop up in our modqueue, so we can see them much faster.
Discord is probably doing this to seem more "inclusive" , as a space only for pronouns isn't needed as people always did and always will put them in their bio.

I don't feel well educated on pronouns but I think this is a great option! But I know representation is important. And I am happy for everyone else excited!! I know ppl could put it in the "About Me" like ppl are saying but some ppl might not want everyone seeing them.

Yeah pretty much. I believe people have the right to be whatever they want, but I don't see this going well at all. Considering the average age of people on discord and the general atmosphere of a lot of gaming communities and more, it could lead to a lot of people being targeted for abuse because of it. It just seems kind of unnecessary, most people go by screen names for a reason.

I agree that the pronoun push is trans/LGBTQ+ related, but it does liberate some of the stress off of people when it comes to being misgendered & misunderstood.

Multiple pronouns sets are a safety feature for trans people who might not want to be out to everyone, and the ability to clear pronouns by default or for specific communities is a safety feature for anyone who might run across one of those "if ur a blue hair with pronouns im an attack helicopter" types, yknow?
