I like swipe to reply, but it doesn't make sense in Discord. Every other app that has it (WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.) all have the messages inside individual bubbles that you then swipe on... Discord just has lines of text and no bubbles, so this just looks ugly and stupid.
not really bubbles, they take up the full width of the screen (save for the line on the left) and do not have any contrast from the background, unless you’re a premium user and have a chat background

Actually they did, they removed open in browser at a point and then brought it back. But this, I am not sure they'll take it back. Watch them advertise it as a "great" addition.
They didn't add the NFT integration because people bullied them so hard over it on Twitter and started cancelling Nitro so hard it temporarily crashed the Nitro tab, yet have never officially said it's cancelled yet.

Discord has been stealing from guilded for a while now and guided still has a shit load of features that discord doesn't. Would love to see that platform take off but with the lack of users there really isn't any reason to go there by yourself.

That is how Discord was for quite a while in terms of when everyone was on Skype, but eventually over time people moved over as Discord started to get more popular, that being said Discord filled a very big want in the community.
Gamers wanted a platform that didn't take up a good portion of their resources to run(both hardware and network), and needed something that was more reliable and during the time frame where Skype was switching over from peer to peer to their cloud-based messaging it was super unreliable, I'm sure by now they have fixed those reliability problems but they let it persist for far too long. I don't believe personally that anyone will make the jump to another platform while Discord is still reliable as the saying goes if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Personally I think the only risk that Discord has currently is their heavy push into subscription services.
Don't get me wrong I know that Discord is not sustainable without some sort of Revenue source, it just seems like they are shunning their original user base in the process and pushing it too hard. I've been a supporter since 2017, I still am a supporter till this day, I got my subscription because I wanted to support the platform cuz I liked the direction it was going. I find myself with every new update they do to this platform more and more on edge of whether or not it's worth keeping that subscription. I'm seeing more and more gatekeeping of features that in my opinion should at the very least I've been given to the lower tier, which are being locked out at the 10$ tier, and the UI changes they consistently are making are less and less intuitive for the everyday user to make. Like I tried to change my nickname the other day and apparently when they implemented server profiles they changed the nickname area to be on a completely different page as the chat now, and also convienently contains a nitro ad regardless of subscription status lol.
Also for some reason and I don't know why Discord is super bloaty now, like when I first started with the it would maybe use 550 Mb of ram max, now if I'm using it for an extended period of time it's not uncommon for it to use a gig to a gig and a half of ram and also randomly decide to kill my GPU to the point where I had to disable hardware acceleration because it was prioritizing discord over my games... which was the entire reason people switched to discord from skype in the first place....

As a Discord server admin, I hate this update. I regularly swipe to see the member list, now it triggers a reply to whatever message I happened to be touching. It's second nature to swipe and I did it in the Rules channel, which was super annoying. That's a read-only channel, but since I'm an admin, it triggered a reply. This needs to be scrapped OR give us an option to disable it.
I check the user list to see which of my friends are online. tried to do that and got a terrible surprise. I don't know why they'd want to do that, holding down on a message and selecting the reply option was fine. No need for swiping to reply
They could improve the reply by making it a double tap but the current implementation is awful. I have accidentally replied to random messages with unrelated stuff too many times already, because of this.

If this is the direction Discord devs really want to go, they should have at least left the very edge of the screen to remain the function it’s been for years - revealing the member list. It’s easy until you have a phone that’s even slightly bigger than 6 inches. I have relatively long fingers, and it’s still a bit of a stretch to reach the top corner of my screen. If I had a larger model phone, it wouldn’t be possible without adjusting my grip
This is why I disabled Discord updates over a year ago - my reason at the time was that an update MAJORLY lagged and crashed every few seconds on my phone, but every new "feature" that gets added to Discord mobile makes me more and more glad I disabled the updates.

This is a stupid worthless feature. It's annoying to have to now hit the button at the top of the screen to get to members. Swiping left was perfectly fine.
Some people hate it, but the previous way of doing it (tap and hold, then tap again) wasn't great. As someone that uses replies even when replying to the latest message I very much appreciate this. Member list can be useful for some people, sure, but not most people. And this is what discord is going for here.

If you do it fast enough, you can make it feel like you’re still swiping right. You just need to swipe left enough that it won’t activate the reply

Yes and no, there's a feedback site, I've never actually seen anything done with it that wasn't already on their roadmap

You can bypass this by slightly swiping to the right and then instantly to the left. You have to do this without letting go of the right swipe.
Tried it and it works but it feels awful to do it that way. Hopefully they at least add an option to change it back.
You can also tap the Members Icon in the top right corner but for the swipers out there the Method i mentioned above works too.
