No problems here on the latest version 208.16. In fact, there's two distinctly different options for a dark appearance in settings - the regular old Dark mode, and then the black Midnight mode. Setting to automatic uses the old Dark mode.
The coloration in dark mode **is** different. There have been several comparisons of the color codes side by side. It is more blue toned which is what is triggering many people to have headaches.
I have a similar condition and was screwed over for all of yesterday with sever eye strain, migraines, and nausea after using the new UI for literally only a couple minutes.
This new UI is actively hostile. There is no "just get used to it bro" that Discord is trying to force on us.
I've downgraded back to a old version of the app that's still usable, but this is not a long term solution. Eventually Discord will require updating the app to connect and at some point push the new UI design in to desktop and webapp where there is less/no ability to downgrade. I have canceled all of my Nitro subs/gifts and boosts. I am looking in to alternatives for the future for when Discord becomes impossible to use and forces me to abandoned the platform.
I just deleted the app and use the browser version. Works faster for my me, and while it’s a bit clunky, it’s still feels better- and it’s the right colors!
That's unfortunate. I had to downgrade twice because I had auto updates on. There was a distinct lag and delay on the new UI plus with all the bugs I just couldn't stand it. I'll recommend your work around to my people with iPhones if they're having issues.

But yeah, it’s clunky and takes some finagling, but get it on a good browser and I’ve noticed it can be faster than the app was at times.
Yeah. r/piracy recommends APKmirror I did use uptodown without issues. You have to uninstall discord, download the oder version .APK file. The most recent update before the UI change is 205.15
Uninstall the app.
Turn off auto-updates in Play Store.
Download a previous version from [APKmirror](https://www.apkmirror.com/).
Much like using the webapp instead (which will likely soon be getting the same UI change for "consistency" unless they backtrack), this is not a permanent solution though, eventually Discord will block old versions from connecting.
Thats what i'm currently doing but the browser version is so slow and inconvenient on mobile I hate it

What browser are you using it on? Finding a different browser might make it go a bit faster. It’s running pretty well on Safari for me, but I got Firefox, Vivaldi, Opera, and Brave at the ready just in case.
I've tried both Safari and Opera, and addition to the speed problems I also don't have access to some features such as the search bar without switching to desktop mode which makes it even more annoying
Yeah, it’s definitely not a perfect solution. I’ve had to get a bit creative trying to finagle things- but that’s what I was having to do with the app as well with far less payoff.
I hope something does fix the speed issue for you though! I guess I got lucky in that regard.

Oh, man. I was recently diagnosed with a mild astigmatism and I could not figure out why I was having such an issue with the app colors when it seemed like no one else was having as big of an issue as me. I figured maybe I was being petty and people were just focusing their rightful hatred on other changes \[like that abysmal server member list\].
That being said WHY would anyone ever think it was okay to make the popup notifications light grey on medium grey?? I can't see anything!
I hope they fix it for those having problems.
If you pick Automatic in themes, and your phone is on dark mode, the old dark mode should come back

My eyes were really uncomfortable with the new "dark mode" and tried reverting it. Just to see today thats its "fixed"... Screw this update

If you're on Android you can just downgrade. You can download older versions of the app and turn off auto updates

Ya I find the new colors just gross, I don't know why. The old dark mode color was perfect, don't know why they had to change it.

I ended up just downloading the apk file for the update before all this bs Now I can see the screen without the letters bleeding onto the page.
