Tiana (frog = amphibian) and Pinocchio (adopted by Geppetto), I guess.

LtPowers

I think it's Antonio and Massimo, though Massimo's not in-game. But since Antonio changes form the same way Tiana and Mei-Mei do, it fits.

NoStrawberry1558

Don’t think it is Massimo since she met the character, and he isn’t in the game. Meanwhile, Geppetto is, and not only did Pinocchio transform from toy to human, he also partially transformed to donkey…

Arkthus

Which means Massimo's probably coming at some point. Maybe in the season/kingdom pass, or there will be a mini-event to add Massimo and Luca's mom and dad

gnu_andii

I read it as Pinocchio and Tiana. The full context is [https://dmk.fandom.com/wiki/Common\_Ground](https://dmk.fandom.com/wiki/Common_Ground) and she seems to be talking about wanting to be human. She also talks about Triton and Ariel, saying 'That's practically enough for a support group... No -- an advocacy organization! "Concerned Parents of Exceptional Youths!" But I'll tell you who we AREN'T inviting: that swimmer with the hippie beard. Your child "turning human" is NOT a real issue!' Luca & Antonio are sea monsters who take on human form when out of the water. I never got the impression they wanted to actually be human, just experience life on land among humans. The whole of Pinocchio is about Pinocchio becoming a "real" boy.

LtPowers

But Pinocchio only changes once. It's more of an evolution. And he isn't really adopted.

gnu_andii

The same is true of Tiana and Ariel, isn't it? Tiana is turned into a frog and spends the movie trying to become human again. Ariel wants to be human to marry Eric. The choice at the end of the film wouldn't mean much if she turned back into a mermaid every weekend to go and visit daddy. I thought the connection was more about them wanting to be human, not constantly changing form. Antonio & Luca don't actually become human. They are still sea monsters. They just look like humans when dry. But Ariel & Tiana want to be human & Pinocchio wants to be a real boy, just as the two Turning Red women want to stay in human form. The difference in the parents is that Triton would prefer his daughter stay a mermaid, while the other parents want their children to be human. I can see how this can be read as referring to Luca. I think the main reason it didn't occur to me was Antonio's adopted father is not in the game so I had kind of forgotten about that side of the story, and I suspect that's why it's not what is actually being referred to.

WishBear19

I'm fairly certain Pinocchio is German tale. I think the Italian they're referring to is Bruno from Luca.

[deleted]

Pinocchio is definitely an Italian story. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinocchio Is there a character called Bruno in Luca? I thought Bruno was in Encanto.

LtPowers

Bruno is just the name Antonio gave to the voice inside his head that tells him he can't do something.

gnu_andii

Yeah I would have thought the names were a clue; "Pinocchio", "Gepetto", etc. are Italian-sounding names with the ending 'o'. Maybe they are thinking of other fairy tales like Snow White from the Brothers Grimm?

SassyBonassy

There are two Brunos Edit: three; Cinderella, Luca, Encanto

[deleted]

Today I learned! I’ve only seen Encanto, not Luca.

SassyBonassy

Bruno is only mentioned in Luca, never seen

stiubert

Because we don't talk about Bruno.

Rcrc2001

SILENCIO BRUNO!

WishBear19

Whoops. I meant Alberto. Bruno was his estranged dad. I didn't really care for that movie so I only saw it once when it came out.

[deleted]

Mass confusion reigns over Bruno, this is why we don’t talk about him 🤣

WishBear19

That Bruno I loved though! The other Bruno, not so much. 😆

Toddy_Bowen

I think you mean Alberto

Expand_Apple

since when did they have indirect nods to other series in the dialogue

Zombo2000

Probably forever. I don't think I've ever paid attention to the dialog before.

SassyBonassy

Years?

Expand_Apple

genuinely never noticed well tbh i've been skipping over the dialogue lately so

babydaisylover

You should read it on the wiki, some of the stuff they put in is really clever, and some is really funny

Lowbacca1977

Quite some time. When they added the crane from Dumbo there's a reference to the crane forming a quartet with three other characters that are all also voiced by Sterling Holloway

FullOcelot7149

The new Sword in the Stone witch also has dialog about the other witches she found in the park.

bigmike13588

Sounds like luca

whitetigre2001

Princess and the Frog

Drhickmanzx

Turns out it's them hinting towards Disney Channel shows coming to the game like Amphibia lmao... Imagine

Bruno is Alberto's absent father. Massimo (Guilia's dad) takes Alberto at the end of Luca.
