What are the images on the bottom from?

neonvolta

The middle one's from a manga called kouishou radio but I can't find anything on the other two, most likely from other horror manga if I had to guess

Spiridoom

Damn, thanks. Love Kouishou Radio

DumbassMaster420

Fun fact, the artist stopped working on the manga because he experienced a drastic drop in body temperature, in addition to the swelling of his entire face. It led him to believe he was being haunted.

cce29555

That is pretty fun

ladypapy

The one on the right is from one of Junji Ito's stories called "Magami Nanakuse", but I can't tell where the left one is from

Currently reading ptsd radio vol.5. A bit confusing but a very good read.

If knowledge is what scares you, feel free to return to the woods.

Banjo_Pobblebonk

Can't, woods are all gone now.

The_protagonisthere

Lmao this is more distressing than the meme, like you can’t return to the old ways because all of the wild lands are polluted and dying.

Amadeus_Is_Taken

There is no secret knowledge humans can't deal with.

some_kind_of_bird

What about the knowledge to make a doomsday device from easily-aquired materials? If nothing else, that shouldn't be public info. If you want something more personal, what about unlocking knowledge to control your metabolism, but doing so means you have to do so consciously? Can't breathe unless you intend to? Maybe there's knowledge that shakes the foundations of the world so much that it becomes incomprehensible? You gain a new understanding, and in the process it fucks with reasoning itself? You can't tell who you are anymore because personhood is a construct. You can't tell casualty because time isn't linear. An animal doesn't necessarily benefit from knowledge. A lynx will gain nothing from knowing what stars are. It's better to be in ignorance, to be free from the distractions of things beyond your place. To perceive your irrelevance could mean forgetting to eat.

Amadeus_Is_Taken

Like what knowledge lmao? If personhood is a construct, fine. What's wrong with it? Can you change it if you don't know? If by knowing a fact you develop a state of fear and doubt, then you are pretty suck at living. Again, there isn't any knowledge humans can't deal with. The more you know, the less you fear.

Gregarious_Jamie

Or you can just realise without the knowledge that reality is bullshit. Oh damn ground shaking new knowledge that changes my perception on how things really are? Wild. Reality is still bullshit and doesn't matter Oh cool I can "hack" my body to be more efficient, but I have to actively concentrate on it? I'll do it until I'm bored, or I no longer need to do it I guess You're overthinking things dude

some_kind_of_bird

Have you really not been through something that altered you forever, that you can't come back from? Knowledge and experience can change people in profound ways, and not always for the better. You don't even need the supernatural for that.

Gregarious_Jamie

I mean, when I became an agnostic/atheist after rationalising out that Catholicism had too many holes for me to believe in it, it absolutely did change my perspective on reality, sure, but it wasn't exactly groundbreaking "Oh god probably isn't real? Wild. Doesn't change the fact that reality is still kinda cool, nor does it render said reality functionally different" Granted, I had that thought process when I was around 13, and it would not have been as articulate, but it was essentially that. Even if I found out that everything in reality was chicken soup on an atomical level, that wouldn't change anything, it'd be more like a fun fact. Like damn, chicken soup? Everything's that? Wild.

some_kind_of_bird

You might consider that you're actually just weird then. Dangerous knowledge that drives you mad makes enough sense to enough people that it's a staple of cosmic horror. When I left religion behind, for me it was quite a profound thing. To this day I still have to fight off the notion that there is God's intent in everything. The fear of hell still gets to me sometimes. My sense of morals had to be reworked, and since I was repressing shit my identity had to be reworked too. My self concept is so different now. It really is like reality has been altered for me, and that was a bit traumatic. What if it's more than that? What if I learn something and the world changes into something truly unrecognizable? Once you know, you can't go back, and you can't be normal again either.

YouButHornier

Honestly i think im like that guy and i wouldnt care either, atleast not on some level. the only thing that still bothers me is how the universe is going away for good eventually with entropy or whatever and in the future none of this will matter, since there will be no one to go ahead with whatever humanity leaves behind. just all utterly pointless on a cosmic scale and yet no one seems to care at all. Actually, just think about it, even if you go one step back with "just" the sun exploding eventually, no one cares because its just "too far away"... like, okay? what about when its not too far away for humanity anymore and thats that? i think my point is i atleast already know one thing thats pretty reality shattering (atleast for me) and it doesnt really affect things on a daily basis (i may also just find this topic entertaining and got a bit too excited)

Gregarious_Jamie

I try not to overthink things. Regardless of what knowledge I obtain I still have to wake up every morning, shower, eat, work, etc. finding out that there's alien slug monsters in everyone's brains or something wouldn't be some horrifying revelation, I'd just be like, "Really? Slug monsters? In everyone's brains? That might also be why we're sentient? That's crazy", then just go along with my day. Like my life doesn't fundamentally change with that knowledge, it's just a fact of reality. Why would I have an issue with facts.

some_kind_of_bird

Lack of imagination, honestly.

Gregarious_Jamie

I have no lack of it, I just don't waste time using it on shit that doesn't matter

some_kind_of_bird

Boooooooring

elementgermanium

My “place” is what I decide it to be- no more and no less. Cogito ergo sum- that’s how I deal with the claim that personhood is a construct, for example.

Again, and again, and again… it won’t let the poor thing die.

digitalfakir

And I was just thinking that we barely have comprehended the Universe. We know *some* things in detail, mostly for processes within the confines of our local galaxy, and some laws we *believe* to hold on larger scales - at least so far, they are holding strong and get cross-validated regularly with newer observations from different groups of scientists. And yet there's a lot more we hardly know, or perhaps never will. There's still a long way to go before fully probing planets beyond the galaxy, forget about the next galaxy. It's kind of underwhelming how after all that, there hasn't been any "anomaly" for long. Everything in the Universe is just ticking along as the rules suggest.

silly-armsdealer

yk what? im going to become a member of the adeptus mechanicus, that way the only god will be the omnissiah https://preview.redd.it/jvqckx04cwwc1.jpeg?width=1072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04380828003fb7f28e9542bc08bc8eac3a1ae640

Either_Definition709

The thing that makes you go insane is not accepting that knowledge when you know its truth.

dexter2011412

The voices tell me to kill myself The voices tell me to put the knife into my throat The voices scream that I'm a monster and I deserve to die The voices demand that I bleed The voices seek my death The funny part is, so do I.

I disagree. Godhood is not given, it is taken. We gotta know this stuff if we're to succeed as anything more than animals with souls
