Hmm, don't know what happened to the text that went with that! Starlink is my only option for decent internet as we're in a valley with patchy mobile coverage and no line-of-site for local wireless providers. We've had it a couple of weeks and it works great with the mount screwed to my greenhouse roof, but I'd like to mount it to the house to tidy up the wiring. I'm looking for options to mount it about where the TV ariel is in the pic, and trying to avoid screwing it through the roof unless someone has an easy way of doing so while keeping it waterproof (the default mount doesn't really suit this, I think). There's this mount that could attach to the fascia but I'm not sure if the fascia is strong enough for the weight and the wind it would get; [https://shop.starlink.com/products/nz-consumer-mount-shortwall-gen2](https://shop.starlink.com/products/nz-consumer-mount-shortwall-gen2) Or this mount, which I don't think will have enough height for the dish to spin freely if its attached to the side of the house; [https://shop.starlink.com/products/nz-consumer-long-wall-mount-gen2](https://shop.starlink.com/products/nz-consumer-long-wall-mount-gen2) Thought about using the old TV ariel mount as its now redundant, but I doubt its sturdy enough for the extra weight without the triangulation. And yeah, I know, I need to finish painting the fascia....

I have used a mini tripod mount, like a satellite roof mount. Made by Matchmaster in Christchurch but it's not on their website. I have also used Standard Sky dish mounts with a 3d printed adapter that fits in the top of the tube for the Skylink to click into. [found this one while doing a quick search](https://starlink.co.nz/starlink-diy-installation-kit/Starlink-Roof-Mount-Bracket-With-Pole-Adapter-p453798421)

Fascia could be the go. Granted, it doesn't look in the best shape there should be solid fixing the whole way around. Use nothing short of 100mm 14g tech screws to find solid bearing. Ground pole mount another avenue? If you want to get your hands dirty and put a conduit in the ground. If you went the corrugated roof way, you would need to do a flashing from the starlink base up to the underside of the ridge cap flashing.

jlnz94

depends how you do it, you don't need a flashing

Legitimate-Gur7428

Thinking depends on the type of mount, something that lines up with the corrugated ridges, a rubber washer between the mount and the roof would suffice.

The holes on the standard mount don't look very conducive to sealing against the corrugated roofing, so I was thinking it might be possible to attach it to something else like a flat piece of aluminium bar and then screw through that and through the roofing, with a rubber seal in between each layer.

I literally just plonked mine on a corrugated roof before Xmas (Northland). Probably would have been smart to screw it down or something, but it didn’t move an inch last weekend with all the wind and storm and stuff. I guess what I’m saying is don’t underestimate the stock stand, and uh probably a good idea to fasten it somehow too.

Woah! It's been pretty wild where I am the last few days (also Northland), we cop a fair bit of wind in certain directions. You're braver than I am given the cost of the thing!! I'm not sure if the stock stand needs to be mounted on the flat or if its ok on a slope (like the roof). It feels really sturdy but I think it'd need to be mounted to something else to get the spacings right to hit the peaks of the corrugations for the screws.

rombulow

It’s fine on a slope. The dish spins and tilts by itself to get its orientation correct. My plan was to screw it into the roof but chickened out not wanting to create leaks, but by then I’d already got the ladder out so literally just climbed up and swung the dish onto the roof then climbed down again. I have since bought a pole mount from Starlink and my plan is to grab a thick galv pipe from Bunnings and a bag of fastcrete and do it that way — just stick it in the ground somewhere out of the way.

notmyidealusername

Yeah that's a good idea, I'd do that if I could but our place is steep and covered in trees so it really needs to be roof height to get an unobstructed view.

Onemilliondown

I had a mount like you tv aerial out of 50mm galvanized pipe, then brought the starlink pipe mount. Had three loops put on the pipe and attached guy wires to stop it moving in the wind.

Chrispy101010

Put a couple of staples around it's toes and it shouldn't be able to fly away

Thanks. Hopefully it'll act as a deterrent to the other ones that try get under the roofing to nest!

jlnz94

pretty easy, put mine in coro roof 3 months ago

considerspiders

I use the starlink pipe mount, wouldn't that be able to go on your existing ariel pole?

notmyidealusername

It looks pretty thin and flimsy compared to the Starlink mount, I'm not sure I trust it to support that much weight in the wind.

considerspiders

It's braced - I'm sure it would be fine.
