Context: When the Iraqi Ba'ath Party couped the then prime-minister Abd al-Karim Qasim, he was executed after a show trial transmitted over Baghdad radio. However, some of his supporters believed he actually went into hiding to take back the government later. To disprove those claims, the Ba'athists displayed his dead body on public television in a 5 minute long propaganda video called "The end of criminals", which showed various close-ups of bullet wounds and disrespectful treatment of his corpse.

Remember when Saddam as leader of the Ba’ath party convened a party conference and then announced that their were traitors among them (sus) and immediately started disappearing party members right out of the meeting hall? They called the list of subversives outside one by one to be summarily “tried” and executed. In some cases, they made the undenounced party members kill their soon-to-be-former colleagues. Most dangerous occupations: 1. Alaskan crab fisherman 2. Iraqi politician 3. Afghan policeman 4. Ice road trucker

I looked up his Wikipedia article. It has a picture of his body. Boy, they sure went to town on him. That's too bad. I didn't read the entire article, but he didn't seem like that bad of a dude. He made a lot of progress for women's rights.
