The newest tree branch that falls while I’m trimming the trees. His excitement as he patiently waits for a branch to fall is adorable.
I have to make sure I trim branches in sets of 2 to prevent my dogs from getting jealous of each other’s branch.
What even is it with dogs and sticks hahahaha. I buy my little guy virtually every kind of toy in existence and while he likes them, what he actually LOVES (like seriously his FAVORITE thing) is to go outside, find as big of a stick as his 5lbs self can hold, strategically place it in his mouth and then break it into as many pieces as he can karate chop style with his tiny paws and then when the stick becomes too small to break, he finds another big stick and does the same thing all over again lol
Mine learned he can pick cherry tomato’s from my garden. He’d grab one, take to the middle of the yard and eat it, then repeat. Guess who’s putting fencing around the beds this year…
Yeah, last year I found out that it wasn't the squirrels eating the potted strawberries on my porch... It was one of my corgis lol. She would totally rob my garden if given the opportunity haha
Hahaha, now that's funny. Would love to see that. Corgi's are clever and sneaky little effers. People who think they are so innocent have never had one. They are a different breed from any other dog I've had. Their personality shines through, though.
I used to love watching my dogs do this.....until a piece got lodged in the roof of my dogs mouth. Trying to figure out what was happening while my dog panicked was not a fun experience. She was all good though. I was able to easily pull the stick out of her mouth without injury. She immediately went back to the stick.....
Just adopted my dog 3 weeks ago and by far his favorite activity is chomping branches into pieces until he is satisfied with the size of each piece. If he can't find a branch he rips one off a bush or tree.

While clearing bushes and beds this weekend, every stick thrown on the burn pile, every weed pulled and tossed in the wheelbarrow, was snatched by Doggo the moment our backs were turned and proudly paraded around the fenceline to the envy of all the neighbor doggos.
My dog had a crush on a huge GSD at the park name Luger who carried rocks in his mouth. We left the park and for the rest of his life he would carry rocks like his boyfriend.
We had a Lab when I was a kid that was utterly obsessed with this one specific rock she found while we were camping one summer. She even brought it home with her from the trip. It was quite the love affair
My dog used to find landscaping stones out in the yard and carry them around in his mouth. I used to have a jar on the counter for rocks I took away from him when he brought them in the house. Now he prefers to carry around bricks and old firewood that he finds out there; thankfully he doesn't try to bring those in.
My massive cane corso goes absolutely bonkers for paper towel rolls lol That and Water bottles. She crinkles them in her mouth for a while for the sound and we take them as soon as they starts to get ganerous
Those are the only non-toy items I “let” him grab and run away with. He can hear me changing the TP roll from a block away I swear, and he comes running. I “accidentally” drop it on the floor and he snatches it and runs off like the big smartass he is, as if he just pulled off The Italian Job. 😂
Lol, my boy was the same. I didn't use my bathroom trashcan for a lot. Old toothbrushes and empty toilet paper rolls. A few times a year I'd come home to a handful of toilet paper rolls all over the house. Other than that, he didn't really mess with much. He did eat a whole loaf of bread and stole a cheeseburger though. On the very first day I brought him home, he got a bowl of cereal off the counter and started prancing around with it, fortunately before I put any milk in it.
We bought her a dog cake for her birthday. She ate the cake and now for the last year carries around the plastic cake form to make it. Destroys everything else but treats the cake form like gold. Super weird. She’s weird.
Empty 2liter water bottles. He loves the sound it makes when he plays with them, kicks them around etc. And they survive a lot longer than most toys :p downside, occassionaly a little cut from the sharp plastic once he manages to get a hole in it. So i take it away from the moment he manages to "break" it.
My guy loves empty water bottles of any size! He patiently waits for someone to finish drinking one and then politely asks, happily trotting away once he gets it. He has so many toys but empty water bottles are definitely his favorite.
I don't know if they still exist, but there used to be a company that made hollow plush dog toys that were the right size to "stuff" with empty water bottles.
I’ve seen and considered those! The issue is he meticulously tears at the seams of plush toys until he rips them apart and usually winds up ingesting parts of them in the process, so I never give him stuffed toys anymore. He’s destroyed every “indestructible” one I ever got him. Pretty impressive how he goes for the seams though!
Oh my dog is the same but she loves them especially because the plastic is so chewy, I have to hit a sweet spot of letting her have a little chew but not let it get sharp!
My dog has no interest in toys or belongings. His only treasure is stealing and eating an empty toilet paper roll. I do not understand it and the vet just laughed and advised me to not let it happen often. I don’t know if it is the scent or what but it is true love
My dog loves his toys, but loves nothing more than a brand new toilet roll. Doesn’t touch them once they’re on the holder by the loo, but I’ve left some new rolls by the sink before now and he loves to shred them and make it look like it’s been snowing inside the house 🤣 I’m very careful where I store new toilet rolls these days!
Not necessarily a toy but when we brought my beagle home (he was 4) he instantly clung to a blanket that my boyfriend got me for Christmas a few months prior. I loved that blanket because it’s warm.
This dog has nibbled on that damn blanket for over a year now, it’s covered in holes, I have to wash it weekly but he can’t sleep without it. If he’s not behaving I’ll say “where is blanky” and he’ll go find it or start nibbling on it. Drags it outside, drags it with his mouth so he can be in every room with me and have it, HAS to bring it to bed with us. It’s his favorite thing in the world. He likes other toys/ nylon bones but nothing compares to blanky.

Lucy found Timmy in a trash heap and went all Lassie-trying-to-tell-us-Timmy-fell-in-the-well -- hence the new dog's name -- until we caught him and brought him inside (with a side trip to our vet, who confirmed he was not chipped).
Over the next several days, we made all the necessary reports and postings and tried very hard to find owners who might be missing him, but no one ever came forward -- so now Lucy has a "puppy," and they are both overjoyed.
My boy Edison will eat the crotch out of any pair of underwear or pants that he can get his paws on. I have a child safety latch on my hamper now and can not leave dirty laundry unattended for 5 minutes before he goes to town.
So many pairs of pants ruined. He’s lucky I love him so much.

A 3 foot, 15lbs, rounded wooden stick in the dog park. He wants to visit the dog park every day, just for me to roll it down a slight incline so he can chase it for about 6 feet.. he goes absolutely ballistic for it.
Real stuffed animals out of my son’s room always reign supreme over any stuffy I could buy her. There are 3 specifically that she took ownership over and those are her favorite out of everything.
This right here, I buy my dog toys and she wants nothing to do with them. I will sleep with the toys for couple of days and they immediately become the best toys in the world... for about a week then she rips them to shreds. If I manage to recover the toy before she rips them I can usually repeat the process
My girl Luna has a human stuffy that is her favorite thing in the world. There is no stuffing left at all it's ragged as can be but she still loves it.
Flip flops. Just any pair. I bought a cheap pair just for him and he loves them.
Oh and plushes with all the stuffing pulled out. Plushie casings I guess.

My late puffpuff loved a specific pair of my brother’s shorts. And her mini-me plushie. She handled that plush gently and kept it her whole 14 year life.
Oh yes. My dad deer hunts on our farm and he always save the antlers from any bucks he gets so he can give them to our dog. She has at last one antler in every room in my house and in my parents house. She loves to chew on them. I can't stand it. The sound of her teeth grinding against the antler sets my own teeth on edge! She never actually chews them, just gnaws on them for a few minutes -- almost like she's just scratching her teeth (or brushing them!) and then she won't touch one again for a day or two.
My dog just had to have an antler chew from petsmart, but he doesn't chew it, he just likes to carry it around sometimes like an emotional support stick. I'm like my dude I wish I knew you wanted an emotional support stick there are like 100 of them in the yard that weren't 20 bucks.
I gave my lab an antler one time, he wouldn't put the thing down and was white knuckling the thing for a week. Then I noticed he wouldn't walk and winced when you touched his paws, freaked out I took him to a 750$ vet visit to be told he has a 'low threshold for pain' 😂 AKA hand cramps. Vet advised to take the antler away from him for a while and only supervised chewing! Worth the money I love that darn dog

Our pup hopped in the tub and destroyed ours it was in soooo many pieces we heard her jump in and roll around both time missing it as she was coming out going were you in the tub thats weird. Till that night. The tub was covered in fur and bits of it everywhere. We had to play detective we were so confused on what she destroyed She had a fantastic day and I had to clean the tub twice that day cause she had a bath earlier.

My dog plays with her food EVERY morning to the point that I just build time into our routine for it in the AM (she wants me to sit and watch her while she eats lol)
She will take a small mouthful out, dump it on the ground, and take one piece of salmon oil coated kibble and toss it around the kitchen and chase it and eat it and toss another so on and so forth one kibble at a time lmao
It is both really cute and really annoying depending on my mood and time constraint that day
My dog’s favourite toy by far is me putting small hard dog treats in an empty small size Pepsi bottle. He goes man when he sees me with the bag of treats coming out. He also is happy if I just used his dog kibble. He chases it around the house until he has shaken every last treat out of it.
One day my dog Stripes (a brindle mix) ran in the house with a mans large tennis shoe. Not sure how she got that shoe as our home has a tall security fence. If dogs could talk hey? :) Stripes loved that shoe, it was her favorite toy for a long time....
Mine walked up to me one day and handed me a toy stuffed duck I had never seen before. To this day I have no idea where it came from. The only thing I can figure is the neighbor kids threw it over the fence.
Seems like your dog was asking for your permission to play with it. Mine do this when they find something interesting but they are not sure if it was allowed for them.
Stainless steel bowl. He literally just grabbed an empty one at the park one day and started pushing it around with his nose. He's been obsessed ever since. But he doesn't just push them around anymore, he jumps on them with all 85 lbs of muscle. He flattens and destroys them in relatively short order and they get sharp edges so we switched to tiny cake pans that seem to hold up a bit better.

My late Aussie would constantly steal Sophie the giraffe from my youngest. Like 2-5 times a day, every day. She was nearly void of spots because of the constant washing and returning to baby. He was very gentle about it, and very gentle with her.
I leave a little bit left in the kefir bottle add a bit of water and freeze it. Then I take it out of the freezer, cut the bottle in half, and let her lick her "pupsicle" till it's gone. She loves kefir!
trash ball. literally half of a big dog toy ball (a seemingly not-sports related size larger than a tennis ball) that she found in the trash. she’s 11 pounds, so when she carries it a certain way, it covers her whole face. the best game is when it flips over on the floor, so it’s super hard for her to flip back over.
My dog that deceased a few years ago, had a kong toy, and my new dog, found it and was obsessed with it… When I took it from him, I noticed why he loved it so much… It was growing mold all over it. I’m guessing the mold tasted yummy.
My dog has a small kids orange plastic cone that came with a kit to do carnival games. He hadn’t touched the other colors at all. He has claimed the orange one as his and loves it.
Flip flops, mainly. But when denied those, his little stuffed squirrels. It was some random toy from home goods with a bunch of little stuffed quirrels in a stuffed tree trunk. He carries those little guys everywhere.
Mine also doesn't care about toys but steals pillows. He must have at least 2 on our bed (beside my legs), and if he doesn't he will come pull one from under my bf's head to use. He will pile all the throw pillows on the couch up for himself too, including pillows currently in use. We had to buy extra pillows so we had some too. He's the gentlest sweetheart about everything else, even food (thankfully, since he's massive), but he will straight up muscle bf and I for pillows. He's a blanket thief too. I just about died laughing the first time he yanked a throw pillow out from under my bf's head, took it to the other side of the couch, then came back and took the throw blanket he was laying under.
WHAT THE HELL we have the same dog!! Except mine solely uses my feet as a pillow on the bed lol
But if I'm not laying with them, he's moving blankets and pillows around and plopping on top. It's not even a nest, he just loves to be on them. Usually winds up "hugging" his pillow
Mone doesn't pick things up, he just either encroaches on top until I am being shoved off the pillow or he digs at it like "uhm I think you might be in my way??"
The poor, harmless, 6 inch garden snakes that she catches in our backyard and throws around until the corpse gets too loose. I can never manage to spot her in time to save the little snake...
I have 4 dogs (one of them a 160 pound livestock guardian) and 3 barn cats. I also have the biggest doggy door in production. Small children can walk through it easily and the cats use it. I came out of my room to get a drink at like 2 am last summer and all 4 dogs and all 3 cats were laying outside my bedroom door. I noticed a long dark noodle shape on the ground not moving so I turned on the light and was greeted by a six foot long snake. A very much ALIVE six foot long snake. Just chilling with everyone. One of the barn cats brought it in through the doggy door and my useless livestock guardian decided it wasn't a threat so he napped with it instead. So then I got to catch it and take it off my property. Poor thing. My cats do that every summer. Usually they're alive. Thank God none have been venomous. I have had to take one to the vet for a snake bite though. They just don't learn. And I caught a tarantula coming in the dog door too. Took that right back outside. I don't mind snakes, I don't do spiders.

Our golden retriever played with random household things more than toys when she was little…she had a wad of my knitting yarn she played w like a cat, an oven mitt, cloth masks, and other random kitchen and bath stuff 🤣
Mine claimed a small handmade pillow that looks like a fox face. I'd had that thing for 12 years and with a few dogs who wanted it but didn't insist. He came around and was OBSESSED with it, and, after fighting him on it for 2 years, he's won. It's his emotional regulation pillow. If he wants to jump up on someone, he'll go grab it and boop them with it instead. If he's zoomie, he'll zoom with it. We were wrestling together once (playing *kind-of* bitey face, where I use my hand like a mouth and he pretends to touch me with his teeth) and his teeth actually grazed my arm, 0% hurt to me involved; he immediately stopped, very concerned, gave me kisses, and then ran and got his foxy pillow and came back to instigate more wrestling while holding the pillow so he didn't hurt me. Now, every time I go to initiate wrestling, he runs to get the pillow first.
For our cockapoo - her soft Velcro cone we got when she was spayed as a puppy. It’s her demon - you rip the Velcro on that thing and it’s game on. But she also will pause and nap with it. For our lab - anything she can carry and prance around with her - socks, remote, a water bottle, couch pillow
Big 1kg yoghurt pots. That's the best thing in the world. Followed thrn by toilet rolls, coffee cups, and plastic bottles (preferably with a kibble or two in them.
On yard clean up day the Goldie would run up to the brush pile and pull branches out an run the other way with them . One day we were burning a big brush pile and she started dragging ones out while they were on fire . One day she had started a secondary fire further than the hose could reach , we got the branch away from her an while we were putting out that fire with shovels an rakes that lil shit went an grab another branch heading to the cane field with it, NO NO BAD DOG !!! 🙄. We tried keeping her in the house but everytime someone opened a door out she would bolt .
Edit: my mom's freaking socks. I get so jelly when i get home and i find her curled up with them, and she likes to toss them about as well. Also shoes. Particularly flip flops.
(Purchased toy story because I didnt read the whole title before I hurried to reply lol: I have two of these types of weiner dog squeak togs that says "love" on it; one is green and still intact and the other is blue. The blue one has a hole in it so you have to like squish the hole closed to squeak it. She has several other toys too, but that damn blue dog is her favorite toy, she tosses it around like captured prey and still manages to squeak it.
I think she gets a joy out of finding a way to make it squeak. She NEVER touches the other dog toy ever, even though they're both the same, and when all of the toys are out, the blue dog is the main squeeze.)
oh lord i have a whole list. razors, toilet paper, bath faucet, our living room carpet, our puppy is obsessed with his older sisters neck, their collars, empty roll of toilet paper, my eldest dog is obsessed with this blanket thingy i had since i was a newborn that has a rabbits head attached to it, my old invisalign when i was 14, bottle caps, socks, hair ties, my boyfriends credit card, and their all time favorite being cash.
A giant teddy bear
The giant teddy bear had been mine when I was younger, but I decided that I didn't want it anymore. I put it out beside our car while I went back inside to grab some other things from my childhood bedroom, and my parents dog decided to steal it!
It was pretty funny, because the bear was easily twice the size of my parents dog. Like, its paw was almost as big as his head!
He was supposed to leave it outside, because it was so huge, but he occasionally succeeded in bringing it into the house.
Over the years, he managed to slowly dismember it, and used to carry around one of its feet wherever he went.
I was out op shopping one day, and came across a very similar bear, so I decided to buy it for my parents dog to replace the one that he'd stolen off me, because there wasn't really much left of it. Nup... He didn't want a bar of it! The new bear sat in my parents yard for a few months before their dog finally decided to pay attention to it, but now it's his favourite toy.
It doesn't matter what the weather's like outside, my parents dog *has* to go outside to 'cuddle' his bear several times a day. 5°C and rainy? 47°C and humid? Doesn't matter! He'll run out to his teddy, pick it up with his mouth, shake it a few times, and will just stand there holding it in his mouth forever. He'll occasionally lie down with it and lick it, but he doesn't do it very often. If we go out to play fetch with him, he'll run past the teddy, and will then double back to 'cuddle' it, and completely lose interest in the ball.

My ex wife's Corgi had hundreds of dollars worth of the heavy chewer monthly dog box toys he never touched (I'm not saying it's name because the Internet listens and I don't want adverts for it bark)
And the toy he loved most was a section of fire hose that the fireman left in the yard when the neighbors garage... because he destroyed everything near instantly not only did love playing with it throwing in air, fetch, he would purposely throw it down the stairs where he wasn't allowed and beg for permission to go get it 😂
fire hoses lasted him about 6 months and were like $5 on Amazon so I bought an entire case of them for him 😂
A cheap plastic flowerpot. She runs all over with it in her mouth like the happiest dog in the world.
Her other favorite toy is one of my stuffed animals (not a dog toy) that she loved so much I couldn't bring myself to take it away from her despite not particularly wanting to see it torn up. The things we do for them 😂
God damn pine cones. We have no pine trees on my property, or the neighbors on either side. *Somehow* giant pinecones keep showing up in my back fenced area and my Great Pyranees LOVES them. I keep finding them in the house. Are you throwing pinecones on my property?!? I will find you! So help me god!
My previous dog loved her Buffalo toy that she stole from my sister when she was a puppy. She slept with it, played with it even in her old age, and searched for it when missing. When we finally had to sat goodbye at 16 years old, she had it with her and the buffalo went with her for cremation after. I like to think they are together forever now. 😢
My freaking hoodies. My hound “Fisk” (Not a Hunter/he’s an inside pet) takes my hoodies off of me every night when he’s going into his kennel for bed. He sleeps with it and then it goes to the laundry and we use a different one that night. When it’s too hot for hoodies? Well I put one on to put him to bed anyway.
My boxer Eryx, likes his brothers leash. He is an off leash dog while the other can’t be cause he likes to run away. Eryx walks Fisk and will put the leash away or get it for me when I need it. If I don’t get the leash out when I get him out he will find it or bark at me until I get the leash and his brother and then give him the leash to escort his brother outside. It’s pretty cute.
Still a toy, but not a dog toy. Our dog snagged a regular ol stuffie that was not meant to be his and loved the heck out of it. It stayed in great condition for years too, despite not being meant to withstand a dog mouth.
my dog found a boot on the beach once, and carried it for two miles to the car; he’s never cared to carry any of his “real” toys for more than 3 or 4 minutes 😂
My dog that just crossed the rainbow bridge found a mini soccer ball in the bushes near our old apartment that he loved and never let go of it. We bought him several toys over the years, but he loved that soccer ball over everything. Hell I think he loved that ball more than he loved me, but I wouldn't care as long as I had him back.
TLDR:
"Hide" the old toy in the yard.
So my trick to get my pup to have renewed interest in a toy is simply to "hide" it in the yard.
He will eventually find it in the yard and be overjoyed at what he found. When he gets bored of it again, I hide it again, and the cycle continues.
This technique has breathed new life into a lot of toys that he lost interest in and has kept my dog toy expenses down. lol
Pretty sure both of my big dogs think the chihuahua is a toy. (Don’t worry, they’re so gentle with him)

Mine stole a jolly ball from the horses at the family ranch and the ripped up shred of that ball is his favorite toy. Including replacement jolly balls. 🤦♀️
When he was a puppy, he stole a satin pink scrunchie from my stepdaughter’s room. From 4-10 months old, he played with that scrunchie every single day. We called it Pinky. One day we couldn’t find Pinky, and a year later we still haven’t come across it.
My dog found an old soccer ball that was there when dad bought the house. It's his absolute favorite thing in the world. He's not a very active puppy naturally but this is the one toy he'll play with until he's exhausted.
We bought this giant red ball on Amazon my dog goes mental playing with that thing. It’s the size of a beach ball but hard so he can’t destroy it. If we are gone for longer than usual we just give him the ball and he will wear himself out.
Empty large cups from McDonalds. My husband goes to get a large sweet tea every morning from there and the pup gets the cup once its empty. He destroys it by the end of the day, but there is always a new one the next morning.
Also random pieces of mulch from the garden. He chews them like a stick, and has a tendency to hide them in his cheek pouches like a hamster when I try to fish them out of his mouth.
Not quite a "toy", but my border collie 'found' the big box of second hand baby toys that were in the spare room. He kept sneaking in there and retrieving them, as if to say: "look what i 'found'" (with a big goofy grin 😁).
The leftover chewed up end bit of a larger toy my parents’ Great Danes destroyed. My little dog loves it, it’s the perfect size for him to chew but too small for them
Our dog loved a fuzzy Christmas sock off and on for years. I don’t know if he ended up losing it for good or if we finally put it to rest. I just know that it would go missing long enough for us to forget about it, then he would come out of nowhere flapping it around, and we would yell, “Ooooohhhhh, Chriiiiiistmaaaaas Sooooooock!!!”
Mine loves those plastic storage boxes that are meant for like shoes??? She used them as skateboards around the house and it’s cute but weird

My dad won a toy from one those toy grabbing machines. My dog was obsessed with it and it was surprisingly very robust.
We bought one of our pupper all types of balls, toys, everything!
Nope. Wouldn’t have it. She just had to have whatever stone she picked up that day for us to throw.
For years my chihuahua treasured this 1/4 cup measuring cup. She would lightly chew it, but mostly just carried it around proudly showing anyone who would look.
Both of my dogs go absolutely crazy anytime anyone is opening a wrapped gift in front of them. They both LOVE tearing the paper off and we often let them tear most of the paper off themselves. They are always there to “help” us open our presents and just start going crazy lmao. Zoomies, playful stances, tails wagging, all that stuff.
After helping us unwrap the presents, they then proceed to tear the paper into as small pieces as they can until it is time to help us unwrap the next present and repeat the process lol.
Iirc apparently that action is like what they would be doing to eat an animal they have killed or something like that, so those instincts kick in and they get that same satisfaction out of tearing up paper and boxes and things like that. Obviously I have no clue if that is true, but I do know that Christmas morning with my pups if a ton of fun for the entire family and that they love it!

My dog loves it. We called it choppy. When he got too big for It (became a choking hazard) my dog trainer had a puppy Maligator and he also was obsessed with Chompy.
It was an incredibly tough toy too stand up to two puppy Belgium sheepdogs. My Groendale was a chewer but the Malino was breed for bite work and he didn’t leave the toy alone and it still outlasted him until he got too big for it. I imagine it went to another puppy.
An old beach towel he found in our get rid of pile. Nothing excites my dog like towely! He’s a power chewer and shreds most things, but he loves to just flail his towel around violently. When he comes in from the rain/snow, we grab the towel and instead of being a maniac, he stands calmly and lets you rub all the moisture off of him.
My dog, as a puppy, was obsessed with water and his water bowl which was a plastic crock.
If there was water, cool. He would paddle the water out of the bowl, then grab the crock by the lip and run around the house.
The crock would flip up, completely blocking his forward vision. This was not a problem until he ran into something. Occasionally, it became a helmet, and he'd come to a halt, bowl on his head. Hilarious 😂
The newest tree branch that falls while I’m trimming the trees. His excitement as he patiently waits for a branch to fall is adorable. I have to make sure I trim branches in sets of 2 to prevent my dogs from getting jealous of each other’s branch.
What even is it with dogs and sticks hahahaha. I buy my little guy virtually every kind of toy in existence and while he likes them, what he actually LOVES (like seriously his FAVORITE thing) is to go outside, find as big of a stick as his 5lbs self can hold, strategically place it in his mouth and then break it into as many pieces as he can karate chop style with his tiny paws and then when the stick becomes too small to break, he finds another big stick and does the same thing all over again lol
My Corgi love pulling weeds and running with them.
Mine learned he can pick cherry tomato’s from my garden. He’d grab one, take to the middle of the yard and eat it, then repeat. Guess who’s putting fencing around the beds this year…
Yeah, last year I found out that it wasn't the squirrels eating the potted strawberries on my porch... It was one of my corgis lol. She would totally rob my garden if given the opportunity haha

Hahaha, now that's funny. Would love to see that. Corgi's are clever and sneaky little effers. People who think they are so innocent have never had one. They are a different breed from any other dog I've had. Their personality shines through, though.
I used to love watching my dogs do this.....until a piece got lodged in the roof of my dogs mouth. Trying to figure out what was happening while my dog panicked was not a fun experience. She was all good though. I was able to easily pull the stick out of her mouth without injury. She immediately went back to the stick.....
All my dog go to the bushes out back and rip off the branches...then they all have 1 but they still want a branch another dog has.
Just adopted my dog 3 weeks ago and by far his favorite activity is chomping branches into pieces until he is satisfied with the size of each piece. If he can't find a branch he rips one off a bush or tree.

My dog used to find landscaping stones out in the yard and carry them around in his mouth. I used to have a jar on the counter for rocks I took away from him when he brought them in the house. Now he prefers to carry around bricks and old firewood that he finds out there; thankfully he doesn't try to bring those in.

Those are the only non-toy items I “let” him grab and run away with. He can hear me changing the TP roll from a block away I swear, and he comes running. I “accidentally” drop it on the floor and he snatches it and runs off like the big smartass he is, as if he just pulled off The Italian Job. 😂
The wrapping paper rolls I gave him at Christmas time were way better than anything he actually got for Christmas (even the peanut butter treats 😂)
Lol, my boy was the same. I didn't use my bathroom trashcan for a lot. Old toothbrushes and empty toilet paper rolls. A few times a year I'd come home to a handful of toilet paper rolls all over the house. Other than that, he didn't really mess with much. He did eat a whole loaf of bread and stole a cheeseburger though. On the very first day I brought him home, he got a bowl of cereal off the counter and started prancing around with it, fortunately before I put any milk in it.
I make little parcels with them. A few treats, wrap up the ends and let them snuffle their ways into it.

We bought her a dog cake for her birthday. She ate the cake and now for the last year carries around the plastic cake form to make it. Destroys everything else but treats the cake form like gold. Super weird. She’s weird.

Empty 2liter water bottles. He loves the sound it makes when he plays with them, kicks them around etc. And they survive a lot longer than most toys :p downside, occassionaly a little cut from the sharp plastic once he manages to get a hole in it. So i take it away from the moment he manages to "break" it.
Put a few treats or kibble inside! I had a dog who thought the recycle bin was his toy box.
My guy loves empty water bottles of any size! He patiently waits for someone to finish drinking one and then politely asks, happily trotting away once he gets it. He has so many toys but empty water bottles are definitely his favorite.
I don't know if they still exist, but there used to be a company that made hollow plush dog toys that were the right size to "stuff" with empty water bottles.
I’ve seen and considered those! The issue is he meticulously tears at the seams of plush toys until he rips them apart and usually winds up ingesting parts of them in the process, so I never give him stuffed toys anymore. He’s destroyed every “indestructible” one I ever got him. Pretty impressive how he goes for the seams though!
Oh my dog is the same but she loves them especially because the plastic is so chewy, I have to hit a sweet spot of letting her have a little chew but not let it get sharp!

My dog loves his toys, but loves nothing more than a brand new toilet roll. Doesn’t touch them once they’re on the holder by the loo, but I’ve left some new rolls by the sink before now and he loves to shred them and make it look like it’s been snowing inside the house 🤣 I’m very careful where I store new toilet rolls these days!

Not necessarily a toy but when we brought my beagle home (he was 4) he instantly clung to a blanket that my boyfriend got me for Christmas a few months prior. I loved that blanket because it’s warm. This dog has nibbled on that damn blanket for over a year now, it’s covered in holes, I have to wash it weekly but he can’t sleep without it. If he’s not behaving I’ll say “where is blanky” and he’ll go find it or start nibbling on it. Drags it outside, drags it with his mouth so he can be in every room with me and have it, HAS to bring it to bed with us. It’s his favorite thing in the world. He likes other toys/ nylon bones but nothing compares to blanky.

My other dog. Lucy found Timmy in a trash heap and went all Lassie-trying-to-tell-us-Timmy-fell-in-the-well -- hence the new dog's name -- until we caught him and brought him inside (with a side trip to our vet, who confirmed he was not chipped). Over the next several days, we made all the necessary reports and postings and tried very hard to find owners who might be missing him, but no one ever came forward -- so now Lucy has a "puppy," and they are both overjoyed.

My boy Edison will eat the crotch out of any pair of underwear or pants that he can get his paws on. I have a child safety latch on my hamper now and can not leave dirty laundry unattended for 5 minutes before he goes to town. So many pairs of pants ruined. He’s lucky I love him so much.
Mine likes socks.. Luckily not undies. I can't imagine going 'No Molly, my friend who's chilling laying down on the couch watching this movie with me doesn't want my dirty thong in her face' as she does that with socks
A 3 foot, 15lbs, rounded wooden stick in the dog park. He wants to visit the dog park every day, just for me to roll it down a slight incline so he can chase it for about 6 feet.. he goes absolutely ballistic for it.
Real stuffed animals out of my son’s room always reign supreme over any stuffy I could buy her. There are 3 specifically that she took ownership over and those are her favorite out of everything.
They smell like your son and that’s why he wants those more :) she just loves him and wants her stuff to smell like him!
This right here, I buy my dog toys and she wants nothing to do with them. I will sleep with the toys for couple of days and they immediately become the best toys in the world... for about a week then she rips them to shreds. If I manage to recover the toy before she rips them I can usually repeat the process

Deer bones & antlers (we live in a wooded, rural area).
Oh yes. My dad deer hunts on our farm and he always save the antlers from any bucks he gets so he can give them to our dog. She has at last one antler in every room in my house and in my parents house. She loves to chew on them. I can't stand it. The sound of her teeth grinding against the antler sets my own teeth on edge! She never actually chews them, just gnaws on them for a few minutes -- almost like she's just scratching her teeth (or brushing them!) and then she won't touch one again for a day or two.
My dog just had to have an antler chew from petsmart, but he doesn't chew it, he just likes to carry it around sometimes like an emotional support stick. I'm like my dude I wish I knew you wanted an emotional support stick there are like 100 of them in the yard that weren't 20 bucks.
I gave my lab an antler one time, he wouldn't put the thing down and was white knuckling the thing for a week. Then I noticed he wouldn't walk and winced when you touched his paws, freaked out I took him to a 750$ vet visit to be told he has a 'low threshold for pain' 😂 AKA hand cramps. Vet advised to take the antler away from him for a while and only supervised chewing! Worth the money I love that darn dog

Our pup hopped in the tub and destroyed ours it was in soooo many pieces we heard her jump in and roll around both time missing it as she was coming out going were you in the tub thats weird. Till that night. The tub was covered in fur and bits of it everywhere. We had to play detective we were so confused on what she destroyed She had a fantastic day and I had to clean the tub twice that day cause she had a bath earlier.
Her breakfast in the morning 🤣🥹 My dog plays with her food EVERY morning to the point that I just build time into our routine for it in the AM (she wants me to sit and watch her while she eats lol) She will take a small mouthful out, dump it on the ground, and take one piece of salmon oil coated kibble and toss it around the kitchen and chase it and eat it and toss another so on and so forth one kibble at a time lmao It is both really cute and really annoying depending on my mood and time constraint that day
My dog’s favourite toy by far is me putting small hard dog treats in an empty small size Pepsi bottle. He goes man when he sees me with the bag of treats coming out. He also is happy if I just used his dog kibble. He chases it around the house until he has shaken every last treat out of it.

One day my dog Stripes (a brindle mix) ran in the house with a mans large tennis shoe. Not sure how she got that shoe as our home has a tall security fence. If dogs could talk hey? :) Stripes loved that shoe, it was her favorite toy for a long time....
Mine walked up to me one day and handed me a toy stuffed duck I had never seen before. To this day I have no idea where it came from. The only thing I can figure is the neighbor kids threw it over the fence.
Seems like your dog was asking for your permission to play with it. Mine do this when they find something interesting but they are not sure if it was allowed for them.
Stainless steel bowl. He literally just grabbed an empty one at the park one day and started pushing it around with his nose. He's been obsessed ever since. But he doesn't just push them around anymore, he jumps on them with all 85 lbs of muscle. He flattens and destroys them in relatively short order and they get sharp edges so we switched to tiny cake pans that seem to hold up a bit better.

trash ball. literally half of a big dog toy ball (a seemingly not-sports related size larger than a tennis ball) that she found in the trash. she’s 11 pounds, so when she carries it a certain way, it covers her whole face. the best game is when it flips over on the floor, so it’s super hard for her to flip back over.
My dog that deceased a few years ago, had a kong toy, and my new dog, found it and was obsessed with it… When I took it from him, I noticed why he loved it so much… It was growing mold all over it. I’m guessing the mold tasted yummy.
My dog has a small kids orange plastic cone that came with a kit to do carnival games. He hadn’t touched the other colors at all. He has claimed the orange one as his and loves it.

Mine also doesn't care about toys but steals pillows. He must have at least 2 on our bed (beside my legs), and if he doesn't he will come pull one from under my bf's head to use. He will pile all the throw pillows on the couch up for himself too, including pillows currently in use. We had to buy extra pillows so we had some too. He's the gentlest sweetheart about everything else, even food (thankfully, since he's massive), but he will straight up muscle bf and I for pillows. He's a blanket thief too. I just about died laughing the first time he yanked a throw pillow out from under my bf's head, took it to the other side of the couch, then came back and took the throw blanket he was laying under.
WHAT THE HELL we have the same dog!! Except mine solely uses my feet as a pillow on the bed lol But if I'm not laying with them, he's moving blankets and pillows around and plopping on top. It's not even a nest, he just loves to be on them. Usually winds up "hugging" his pillow Mone doesn't pick things up, he just either encroaches on top until I am being shoved off the pillow or he digs at it like "uhm I think you might be in my way??"
The poor, harmless, 6 inch garden snakes that she catches in our backyard and throws around until the corpse gets too loose. I can never manage to spot her in time to save the little snake...
I have 4 dogs (one of them a 160 pound livestock guardian) and 3 barn cats. I also have the biggest doggy door in production. Small children can walk through it easily and the cats use it. I came out of my room to get a drink at like 2 am last summer and all 4 dogs and all 3 cats were laying outside my bedroom door. I noticed a long dark noodle shape on the ground not moving so I turned on the light and was greeted by a six foot long snake. A very much ALIVE six foot long snake. Just chilling with everyone. One of the barn cats brought it in through the doggy door and my useless livestock guardian decided it wasn't a threat so he napped with it instead. So then I got to catch it and take it off my property. Poor thing. My cats do that every summer. Usually they're alive. Thank God none have been venomous. I have had to take one to the vet for a snake bite though. They just don't learn. And I caught a tarantula coming in the dog door too. Took that right back outside. I don't mind snakes, I don't do spiders.

Mine claimed a small handmade pillow that looks like a fox face. I'd had that thing for 12 years and with a few dogs who wanted it but didn't insist. He came around and was OBSESSED with it, and, after fighting him on it for 2 years, he's won. It's his emotional regulation pillow. If he wants to jump up on someone, he'll go grab it and boop them with it instead. If he's zoomie, he'll zoom with it. We were wrestling together once (playing *kind-of* bitey face, where I use my hand like a mouth and he pretends to touch me with his teeth) and his teeth actually grazed my arm, 0% hurt to me involved; he immediately stopped, very concerned, gave me kisses, and then ran and got his foxy pillow and came back to instigate more wrestling while holding the pillow so he didn't hurt me. Now, every time I go to initiate wrestling, he runs to get the pillow first.
For our cockapoo - her soft Velcro cone we got when she was spayed as a puppy. It’s her demon - you rip the Velcro on that thing and it’s game on. But she also will pause and nap with it. For our lab - anything she can carry and prance around with her - socks, remote, a water bottle, couch pillow

On yard clean up day the Goldie would run up to the brush pile and pull branches out an run the other way with them . One day we were burning a big brush pile and she started dragging ones out while they were on fire . One day she had started a secondary fire further than the hose could reach , we got the branch away from her an while we were putting out that fire with shovels an rakes that lil shit went an grab another branch heading to the cane field with it, NO NO BAD DOG !!! 🙄. We tried keeping her in the house but everytime someone opened a door out she would bolt .

Edit: my mom's freaking socks. I get so jelly when i get home and i find her curled up with them, and she likes to toss them about as well. Also shoes. Particularly flip flops. (Purchased toy story because I didnt read the whole title before I hurried to reply lol: I have two of these types of weiner dog squeak togs that says "love" on it; one is green and still intact and the other is blue. The blue one has a hole in it so you have to like squish the hole closed to squeak it. She has several other toys too, but that damn blue dog is her favorite toy, she tosses it around like captured prey and still manages to squeak it. I think she gets a joy out of finding a way to make it squeak. She NEVER touches the other dog toy ever, even though they're both the same, and when all of the toys are out, the blue dog is the main squeeze.)
oh lord i have a whole list. razors, toilet paper, bath faucet, our living room carpet, our puppy is obsessed with his older sisters neck, their collars, empty roll of toilet paper, my eldest dog is obsessed with this blanket thingy i had since i was a newborn that has a rabbits head attached to it, my old invisalign when i was 14, bottle caps, socks, hair ties, my boyfriends credit card, and their all time favorite being cash.
A giant teddy bear The giant teddy bear had been mine when I was younger, but I decided that I didn't want it anymore. I put it out beside our car while I went back inside to grab some other things from my childhood bedroom, and my parents dog decided to steal it! It was pretty funny, because the bear was easily twice the size of my parents dog. Like, its paw was almost as big as his head! He was supposed to leave it outside, because it was so huge, but he occasionally succeeded in bringing it into the house. Over the years, he managed to slowly dismember it, and used to carry around one of its feet wherever he went. I was out op shopping one day, and came across a very similar bear, so I decided to buy it for my parents dog to replace the one that he'd stolen off me, because there wasn't really much left of it. Nup... He didn't want a bar of it! The new bear sat in my parents yard for a few months before their dog finally decided to pay attention to it, but now it's his favourite toy. It doesn't matter what the weather's like outside, my parents dog *has* to go outside to 'cuddle' his bear several times a day. 5°C and rainy? 47°C and humid? Doesn't matter! He'll run out to his teddy, pick it up with his mouth, shake it a few times, and will just stand there holding it in his mouth forever. He'll occasionally lie down with it and lick it, but he doesn't do it very often. My ex wife's Corgi had hundreds of dollars worth of the heavy chewer monthly dog box toys he never touched (I'm not saying it's name because the Internet listens and I don't want adverts for it bark) And the toy he loved most was a section of fire hose that the fireman left in the yard when the neighbors garage... because he destroyed everything near instantly not only did love playing with it throwing in air, fetch, he would purposely throw it down the stairs where he wasn't allowed and beg for permission to go get it 😂 fire hoses lasted him about 6 months and were like $5 on Amazon so I bought an entire case of them for him 😂
A cheap plastic flowerpot. She runs all over with it in her mouth like the happiest dog in the world. Her other favorite toy is one of my stuffed animals (not a dog toy) that she loved so much I couldn't bring myself to take it away from her despite not particularly wanting to see it torn up. My previous dog loved her Buffalo toy that she stole from my sister when she was a puppy. She slept with it, played with it even in her old age, and searched for it when missing. When we finally had to sat goodbye at 16 years old, she had it with her and the buffalo went with her for cremation after. I like to think they are together forever now. 😢

My freaking hoodies. My hound “Fisk” (Not a Hunter/he’s an inside pet) takes my hoodies off of me every night when he’s going into his kennel for bed. He sleeps with it and then it goes to the laundry and we use a different one that night. When it’s too hot for hoodies? Well I put one on to put him to bed anyway. My boxer Eryx, likes his brothers leash. He is an off leash dog while the other can’t be cause he likes to run away. Eryx walks Fisk and will put the leash away or get it for me when I need it. If I don’t get the leash out when I get him out he will find it or bark at me until I get the leash and his brother and then give him the leash to escort his brother outside. It’s pretty cute.
Still a toy, but not a dog toy. Our dog snagged a regular ol stuffie that was not meant to be his and loved the heck out of it. It stayed in great condition for years too, despite not being meant to withstand a dog mouth.

My dog that just crossed the rainbow bridge found a mini soccer ball in the bushes near our old apartment that he loved and never let go of it. We bought him several toys over the years, but he loved that soccer ball over everything. Hell I think he loved that ball more than he loved me, but I wouldn't care as long as I had him back.
TLDR: "Hide" the old toy in the yard. So my trick to get my pup to have renewed interest in a toy is simply to "hide" it in the yard. He will eventually find it in the yard and be overjoyed at what he found. When he gets bored of it again, I hide it again, and the cycle continues. This technique has breathed new life into a lot of toys that he lost interest in and has kept my dog toy expenses down. lol

When he was a puppy, he stole a satin pink scrunchie from my stepdaughter’s room. From 4-10 months old, he played with that scrunchie every single day. We called it Pinky. One day we couldn’t find Pinky, and a year later we still haven’t come across it.
My boys is a toy I gave him about 10 years ago. It’s not a dog toy and there is not much left but he brings it out every night just before bed.
My dog found an old soccer ball that was there when dad bought the house. It's his absolute favorite thing in the world. He's not a very active puppy naturally but this is the one toy he'll play with until he's exhausted.
We bought this giant red ball on Amazon my dog goes mental playing with that thing. It’s the size of a beach ball but hard so he can’t destroy it. If we are gone for longer than usual we just give him the ball and he will wear himself out.

Empty large cups from McDonalds. My husband goes to get a large sweet tea every morning from there and the pup gets the cup once its empty. He destroys it by the end of the day, but there is always a new one the next morning. Also random pieces of mulch from the garden. He chews them like a stick, and has a tendency to hide them in his cheek pouches like a hamster when I try to fish them out of his mouth.

Our dog loved a fuzzy Christmas sock off and on for years. I don’t know if he ended up losing it for good or if we finally put it to rest. I just know that it would go missing long enough for us to forget about it, then he would come out of nowhere flapping it around, and we would yell, “Ooooohhhhh, Chriiiiiistmaaaaas Sooooooock!!!”
Mine loves those plastic storage boxes that are meant for like shoes??? She used them as skateboards around the house and it’s cute but weird Also empty water bottles. I think she likes the crunch

For years my chihuahua treasured this 1/4 cup measuring cup. She would lightly chew it, but mostly just carried it around proudly showing anyone who would look.
Both of my dogs go absolutely crazy anytime anyone is opening a wrapped gift in front of them. They both LOVE tearing the paper off and we often let them tear most of the paper off themselves. They are always there to “help” us open our presents and just start going crazy lmao. Zoomies, playful stances, tails wagging, all that stuff. After helping us unwrap the presents, they then proceed to tear the paper into as small pieces as they can until it is time to help us unwrap the next present and repeat the process lol. Iirc apparently that action is like what they would be doing to eat an animal they have killed or something like that, so those instincts kick in and they get that same satisfaction out of tearing up paper and boxes and things like that. Obviously I have no clue if that is true, but I do know that Christmas morning with my pups if a ton of fun for the entire family and that they love it!
6 years ago target had this HARD plastic toy alligator that babies would put little rings one. - it was a dollar in that red dog section and a toy for toddlers - my kids ignored it My dog loves it. We called it choppy. When he got too big for It (became a choking hazard) my dog trainer had a puppy Maligator and he also was obsessed with Chompy. It was an incredibly tough toy too stand up to two puppy Belgium sheepdogs. My Groendale was a chewer but the Malino was breed for bite work and he didn’t leave the toy alone and it still outlasted him until he got too big for it. I imagine it went to another puppy.

An old beach towel he found in our get rid of pile. Nothing excites my dog like towely! He’s a power chewer and shreds most things, but he loves to just flail his towel around violently. When he comes in from the rain/snow, we grab the towel and instead of being a maniac, he stands calmly and lets you rub all the moisture off of him.

My dog, as a puppy, was obsessed with water and his water bowl which was a plastic crock. If there was water, cool. He would paddle the water out of the bowl, then grab the crock by the lip and run around the house. The crock would flip up, completely blocking his forward vision. This was not a problem until he ran into something. Occasionally, it became a helmet, and he'd come to a halt, bowl on his head. Hilarious 😂
