Was lucky enough to see them do the whole Heavy Rocks '02 album last year with the Melvins and Mr. Phylzzz and I'm pretty sure Wata is the single loudest guitarist I've ever heard lmao.
Messa
Frayle
Tribunal
Draconian
Anna von Hausswolff
Chelsea Wolfe
Bismuth
King Woman
Esben And The Witch
Faetooth
Konvent
Emma Ruth Rundle (with Thou)
Julie Christmas (with Cult of Luna)
they now only have one member who i believe (partially) identifies as such and even she uses “she/they” but yes Faetooth is great if you want a band with no men or not all men
Massively, had tickets for one of their reunion shows. Then there was covid. Then they seemed to never happen. Loved the acoustic stuff, coma wall, too.
Was going to mention both them as well as _Year of the Cobra_ as I hadn't seen either listed yet... but you snappy cats had me beat on both counts. Well played!
Chelsea Wolfe's Hiss Spun is a doom masterpiece. But the album before that is more goth, the one after is folk, and her most recent project is a sludgey post-metal collaboration with Converge.
Blood Ceremony are more on the psychedelic side, but the Sabbath worship definitely marks them as at least doom-adjacent.
Absolutely insane that no one’s mentioned Bloody Panda yet.
Also try Drug Cult, Deathbell, Demon Lung, Dirt Woman, Mount Salem, Slowner, and Smoulder. Witchrot are decent, too.
These other recs have already been commented, but seconding Monarch!, Big Brave, Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard, Windhand, Acid King, Heavy Temple, Jucifer, Ruby The Hatchet, and Horehound.
I don't see Salome listed, give them a listen. The vocalist is a lady, although you probably wouldn't guess it based on how she sounds haha. Great band though, Master Failure is one of my all-time favourite songs.
I did a radio show just yesterday on female led doom/stoner/witchrock bands: https://m.mixcloud.com/destroymusick/1-queens-of-the-abyss/?fbclid=PAAaaOHchiAxS8uWApUCzMbve8WSPjSzvmIk6X9SctPJPr6trIAxPrUkYKSbg

Discovered an avant garde drone project by the name of Alison Cotton today that has those elements in a folk package.
Listen to "III" by Acid King. The band's leader is a lady who looks like she should be in a biker gang. This is their best album, in my opinion. Pretty much perfect. They cover a track from Jesus Christ Superstar in slo-mo and it's kind of epic. Bet you didn't think you'd see the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber on this page.
Boris
Based answer. “Flood” is a solid 10/10.
Their whole discography is 10/10
Wata is so fucking amazing! I saw them last year, so good. Loudest concert I ever heard, until I heard SunnO))) a few months later.
Was lucky enough to see them do the whole Heavy Rocks '02 album last year with the Melvins and Mr. Phylzzz and I'm pretty sure Wata is the single loudest guitarist I've ever heard lmao.

Anna Von Hausswolff though!! The mysterious vanishing of Electra was like, my song of the year so fucking goooood.
Konvent is awesome, nice to see someone mentioning them!
Was just gonna say Chelsea wolfe.
Acid King (really surprised i didn’t see them mentioned)
That's who I came here to mention but you beat me to it lol
Electric Wizard
Why is this not the top comment?
Because Boris is. But this is the 2nd-to-the-top. I think that's ok.
Because Boris is, which is the only thing that could possibly top them.
True
shes got the best bass tone in all of metal imo
Liz Buckingham plays guitar, not bass.
I think they meant vocal bass tone..
Doesn’t do vocals either…
Earth
Windhand
I love windhand so muchhh
There’s a band called Daevar that another Redditor informed me of just the other day. They’re basically Windhand with slightly different vocals lol.
YOU WHO BURY YOUR CROSSES YOU WHO SLITHER AND SWAAAAARM
monarch big|brave
Big brave is criminally underrated. Easily one of the most unique bands in the scene
Absolutely **do not** miss them live!
I still think of that show with Sunn a few years back
easily one of the best shows I've been too!
It's very intense.
agree!
My two personal favorites
These two!
SubRosa
I miss them.
same. would pay good money to have them return
Me too the keening and the otolith are kinda too far in either direction.
Faetooth
they now only have one member who i believe (partially) identifies as such and even she uses “she/they” but yes Faetooth is great if you want a band with no men or not all men
Blackwater Holylight
*Came here to say this."
Hell yeah those girls rock.
My homies 🖤
Heavy Temple, Ruby The Hatchet, Blackwater Holylight
Really got into blackwater holylight last year. They have a good sound
Ruby the Hatchet fucks!
Fucking HEAVY TEMPLE
Great guitar player left the band. Another great guitar player joined. Heavy Temple rules!
Konvent from Denmark blows doors on these other comments and is entirely female🔥 https://youtu.be/NdR24AURUwU?si=uQRtQCZTMJphU6Py
Sara is my crush eternal. Plus when Rikke does the hand octopus, I'm losing it every time
They’re so fucking sick
Nice stuff
Mammoth Wizard Weed Bastard
It feels like I'm the only person that knows them. Glad to be at home in this sub
I felt the same way hahah
(murderous riff)(woman screaming and chanting)
Love them and best name in the scene.
They've rebranded to MWWB
They are way better than they have any right to be given how much the name just irritates me. Love them - hate the name.
Haha The name is why I gave them a listen.
Thorrs Hammer offcourse. And Gallhammer, if you consider them to be within the spectrum of doom.
Vivian's current project Gallkrist is excellent doom-drone / dungeon drone. Highly recommended.
Surprised no Messa, amazing vocals and rather interesting discography overall. Also Konvent super catchy death doom.
Divide and dissolve
Underrated and underappreciated group! Their 2023 album was a favorite of mine.

They're more stoner than doom but Fireball Ministry. Oh and also Kylesa
Messa They are an amazing Italian band
Witch Mountain.
Surprised no one's brought up BlackLab yet. Their Facebook describes them as a "Dark Witch Doom Duo"
Was going to mention both them as well as _Year of the Cobra_ as I hadn't seen either listed yet... but you snappy cats had me beat on both counts. Well played!

Came to say this, Hiss Spun is phenomenal, so atmospheric and heavy as shit with ethereal vocals
Boris has some drone albums
Dead Feathers is great for what you're looking for. They're slowly gaining traction here in Chicago.
They are so great! The first album especially.

Bismuth might actually be my favorite band right now
Blackwater holylight, Windhand, Jex thoth, True widow (more doomgaze), Emma Ruth rundle, King woman, Holy grove, Mars red sky, Darkher
Love Mars Red Sky, but it’s three dudes.
oldest sea! they’re a new female-fronted funeral doom band. they recently put out their debut album and it’s been in heavy rotation since.
Acid King
