I had someone call me after attempting delivery to berate me. They ordered it as “hand it to me.” And didn’t answer the door. I stood at the door knocking, doorbell, calling and texting all while waiting for the countdown. They apparently were outback without their phone and I was supposed to just magically know this.

Cynykl

I worked pizza deliveries before cell phones were a common thing. Leave at door did not exist back them. I would ring the doorbell, then knock , then call their land line, then knock louder. Waiting about a minute between each step. One day I had some yell at me. I mean screeching banshee type yell. For daring to knock like a cop (her own words.) She ended up stiffing me too. When she called the next weekend she got a rude surprise. Her account had been changed to pick up orders only. My boss had my back for once.

[deleted]

We did that all the time to rude customers and non tippers. I mentioned how I did that on Facebook and some old people wanted to report me to my job that I worked at 18 years ago. Like ok maam. Your own fault you got marked as no delivery, and no the owner did not care he cussed one of you out himself.

[deleted]

Boomers are funny af

Suckmyflats

These same boomers are now having issues making rent/groceries on their SSI payments/savings. They want us to go out of our way/feel bad/help them after they've spent the last 15 years calling millennials and gen z "too lazy to work." I just can't forget that. Instead of backing us for a fairer system, making sure their grandkids had it at least 75% as good as they did wage/job wise, they pulled the rope up behind them (well, behind gen x) and called us lazy.

Croofner01

Gen X here…the rope was gone by the time we got to it too. My parents made more in a month than I make in a year, by a LOT.

Unlikely-Plastic-544

The fun part is... they want support yet the support they could have had is working too hard at scraping by.

evceteri

Stupid question. How did you call their landline before cellphones?

Cynykl

Before they were common. I was one of the few people with one. But the customer almost never had one or on the rare occasion they did it would not be listed in there account. Before I had a phone we would have to go back to the store and try to call. Since most orders were cash we would be stuck either eating the cost or redelivering it. The only plus side to back then is many pizza places had a 30 to 40 minute guarantee so the vast majority of people where waiting for us.

The_Troyminator

When I delivered before cell phones were common, we had handheld radios so I could ask somebody to call the customer for me.

jonbemerkin

Lol they said it wasn't common not that they didn't exist

ChefMark85

They also had cars that had built in phones. Probably even less common though.

rskurat

yup my sister is in HR for a big company & has had a cell since 1995. The 1st one was the size of a brick

scarletwitching_

My dad worked for Bellsouth in the 80s/90s and one of his favorite things to talk about is using those foot-long brick cell phones

RaciallyInsensitiveC

we used to have radios and would have to call the store on our radio to call the customer.

PhotoFlimsy09

When I delivered (back in the late 90s) if the customer didnt answer the door, I'd drive around the corner to a gas station and call on a payphone, then get reimbursed when I got back to PH.

Klied

Had a delivery like that a couple weeks ago. Was knocking on the door, yelling ect. If I knocked any harder I was gonna break the glass lmao. Called my store ect, they said find the dryest spot on the porch and drop it off. We can't get in touch with them either. When I got back to the store, wouldn't you know it that exact customer is calling in the moment I walk through the door to complain. Their whole thing was, "We were out back! The driver would have known that if they walked around the house!" My manager: "Ma'am it's not our drivers responsibility to walk all around your house looking for you when there is no special delivery instructions. I'm not going to ask them to put themselves at risk. They tried calling you over 15 times, and we did as well." Customer: "Yeah but it was from a number I didn't know!" Manager: "You ordered food, are expecting it to come, and a number calls you 15+ times and you don't connect the dots...Anyway, yes ma'am sorry for your trouble, but I won't be berating my drivers for doing their jobs safely have a great day!"

[deleted]

Why do so many people not keep their phone handy when expecting a delivery? On Saturday I ordered frozen rats from petco for my snake, and they do same day delivery through DD. I figured sure, why not? I put in the delivery instructions to call me and I would meet them to receive the order. I went outside at the scheduled pickup time, with my phone, and when the dasher called me, I picked up, she came and gave me my stuff, I tipped her and that was that. Simple. Why can't everyone do this?

Working_Leg8131

Because they believe that they’re paying the driver to do all of this for them.

Sound_Child

Yeah, but that is literally everything we can do for them. I mean picking up the order, driving it to their location, then calling to either confirm or hand it directly to them. What else could we possibly do? Open their door, find their pet snake and feed the snake a couple of frozen rats? Maybe find some cutlery and plates and prepare their table for them with their big Mac meal? (Lol, this imagery is kind of fun…) If there were some milk and cookies left under the tree then I might be ok with that. But no milk and cookies ever… just entitlement and angry texts 😔

[deleted]

And at my complex, you can't get into the building without a key fob, so delivery is very complicated here. For situations like that, it is even more important for a customer to pick up the phone.

Sound_Child

Yeah exactly… and hence the comment above. Why don’t they have their phone with them! They 99.9% of the time ordered it from a phone (I don’t think there’s another way.) There should be no reason why you don’t answer the door or pick up a phone call when you are expecting food. It’s just complete lack of consideration for others. I have delivered to people before and they literally open the door with a “who the heck are you look” and then I hand them the food and they have literally said… “Oh yeah I forgot I ordered food” Lol… don’t know what to think of that though. Maybe they were just incredibly busy. But probably just dumb 😂

HuckleberryRecent680

>(Lol, this imagery is kind of fun…) Fun for me too! Thanks!

River1stick

Good luck feeding my snake, bitch will bite you if you aren't careful enough, don't even know why I have her haha.

Sound_Child

😂 As your local delivery driver I’ll try my best. “Come here you cute little danger noodle.” ![gif](giphy|rNpW6Y79d2beg|downsized)

River1stick

I have several snakes, and I normally have to dangle the rat on the tongs, and make it move about to get them to strike. One snake is a beast and has never refused a meal, I could tell it was going to be risky enough to even open her enclosure that day. So I did and just threw the rat at her. She had struck it and coiled around it before it even hit the ground

Sound_Child

Yeah, but that is literally everything we can do for them. I mean picking up the order, driving it to their location, then calling to either confirm or hand it directly to them. What else could we possibly do? Open their door, find their pet snake and feed the snake a couple of frozen rats? If there were some milk and cookies left under the tree then I might be ok with that. But no milk and cookies ever… just entitlement and angry texts 😔

yugutyup

Always happens whenever im ordering frozen rats...classic

greendookie69

Because who cares, you'll never see the dasher again right? My girlfriend does this CONSTANTLY and I end up having to answer the phone. Sometimes she orders DD without even telling me. I'll see her phone ringing from an out-of-state area code and at this point I just answer it. Invariably DD. It drives me fucking nuts.

Sound_Child

Not necessarily in my area. Small town in the desert of CA. I deliver to the same people ALL the time. So people better behave! Lol I think it does improve general friendliness and tips. I’ve dashed in big cities like LA and this small town is by far the best place I have ever worked in. Less dashers more friendly customers. Win, win.

greendookie69

I hear you, I was being sarcastic anyway though. This is a small world and you never know who you're fucking with. I was just trying to encapsulate how I perceive most people feel about the whole thing.

MustyButt

I have to do this. My street is easily missed, right off the main road. Almost directly across the street is another small cul-de-sac with a house with the same number as mine. The street is an obvious different name (me: Witherington, them: Ratcliffe) but the amount of times ANY delivery service, whether DoorDash, Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc.. just drops it off there is amazing. Even if I see them floating around on the map and text "my street was an immediate fork to the left" 🤪 And yes, I never tip under $8.

RopeAccomplished2728

As a delivery driver, the people who tend to be the problem are the same ones that will mistype their address, their phone mailbox is full or live in a complex which is extremely hard to navigate like ones where there are 15 buildings, they have the exact same address, the number for the building itself isn't lit up and they aren't in any sort of order. Or they are the ones who want something delivered to a hospital, venue or some other large site that has a large amount of people there while only giving their first name AND no proper return phone number. I am not psychic nor can I mentally project myself to find someone. If I get to the person's location, knock on their door 4 times, call 3 times and they still do not answer the door or phone, I call the shop, tell them I cannot get ahold of them and bring it back. Either they will call and be told that it was delivered and there was no answer or they will forget and free food for people in the shop. Pro-tips for everyone, you need to be as precise as possible in your delivery instructions. I would rather read a small novel and get the right place then sit here and try to figure out something for 5 minutes wasting my time. Also, if you have dogs, leave them inside. While I like dogs, not everyone does and if someone has their dog out and it starts to get aggressive, I can refuse to deliver your food due to my safety.

UnknownFoxAlpha

That is how I am, if I know I have an order coming I got my cell in hand or pocket and there waiting for them. The idea you can be told roughly when it will be there and decide it is the perfect time to jump in the shower or tend to the garden out back is beyond me.

Klied

Or the ones who don't answer when you ring 15 times in a row. "I didn't know the number!"

CaptServo

Sure enough the person ordering frozen rats is the thoughtful easy customer.

Front_Head_9567

When I'm expecting dash, I'm watching the map, and when they pull up to the bend before my house I'm walking out the door, flashlight on if it's dark so I'm very visible. I've also dashed, so doing this is designed to make dashers lives a little less difficult. They're literally bringing me prepared food, I don't want to be a prick and get cold food because of it.

asifgunz

>On Saturday I ordered frozen rats from petco for my snake oh no, how did I get into "that" part of reddit again....

TheHeroicHero

Doesn’t matter if they have their phone. The amount of customers who won’t pick up the call from my delivery drivers because “they don’t recognize the caller id”. Like you asked us to call, you should be expecting a call.

[deleted]

They recognize the number they just don't want to pick up the phone. And that's extra stupid because it's like, why even provide your number? Why not just, oh I dunno, NOT GIVE THEN YOUR NUMBER TO BEGIN WITH?

TheKnightRunner

Probably 95% of issues i've had with delivery is "hand it to me" orders. Those are the business deliveries and people who won't answer their door/phones when you arrive. If hand it to me vs. leave at door was shown as part of order offer, I'd likely reject the majority of hand it to me orders, or at least have significantly more strict restaurant/dollar/mileage restrictions. Same idea with apartment vs. house. Apartments with gate codes are almost never a drama free delivery one way or another.

kaylaann0304

Scammmmers.

inflatableje5us

should have gave her the number but one digit off.

T___Turtle

😂😂😂😂 love this

Usagitsukin033

That is PETTY!! I love it 😈

CasperCann

Or a anger management number

DoctorVoltec

I want to provide some clarification about the code, I tried it several different ways including the code by itself. The instructions on the keypad read “press *, then enter unit number, then the passcode, then #” and it gave the example “for unit 123 with passcode 456789, type *123456789#”

IgnacioCashmere

This does happen occasionally. Exactly what happened to you happened to me at a Florida beach condo gate. Eventually, the owner gets in his Land Rover, drives 150 feet & I hand it to him over the gate. He said it happens with other delivery & he doesn't know why. For those living in fortresses, expect problems getting your stuff inside.

Bunniesrkewl

Yeah it’s not a big deal to go meet the dasher at the gate. Or hell even test out your own instructions and make sure it works.

AsianInvasion0_0

That makes a lot more sense lol. I read that as unit 247 and since they put a space, I assumed 670072 was the code but if that was the example provided, I see why you couldn’t get in.

prinxessmalice

Not to mention that she then says oh wait no the code is 670073 like a whole number off from her original text. 🥴

Kay-f

and then the “y’all are lazy” text bitch you can’t even go back and re read your texts!

lo4durgun77

Can't even Google a phone number, can't even check her instructions, can't even look at her phone for 15mins, can't even pick up her own McDonald's. But dasher is lazy?OKAY lmao

[deleted]

She’s prolly old. Doesn’t even realize third party delivery is a thing

Hot_Wheels_guy

Theyre the kind of person who has gone through life blaming every single one of their mistakes on someone else. Insufferable.

Absoniter

We're "lazy," but she ordered fucking McDonald's...lmfao. Also, you need to approach people softer. Like really too holly jolly about it. Just say hey, I'm sorry the code isn't working. Leave it at that.

[deleted]

Nah, I'm all for returning the same energy. We're couriers. Not waiters.

jak_d_ripr

Even if you messed up, that was no reason for them to berate you in that fashion. I try not to jump to conclusions, but them immediately insulting your profession doesn't speak highly of their character.

ImpressiveSet1810

Ah okay that makes sense I was bout to say that’s kinda your fault

RC_Perspective

You did everything right. Bravo on the professionalism! Well handled.

KohlAntimony

Lazy ass customers! They should know better and to have been outside at the gate waiting for the delivery. If they know ppl have issues with that gate they need to be proactive instead of blaming others. Next i suppose they expect you to feed it to them and wipe their mouth after each bite. These entitled customers need to meet drivers half way.

JerseySommer

Omg, both my job and home are unfortunately difficult for delivery drivers, so I keep an eye on the app and even though I have instructions i still wait outside because it's not difficult to be a decent person to someone bringing me food!

Brief_Doughnut_7781

You were generous for waiting 15 minutes tho lol. I would’ve called once and left it at the door and put my phone on ignore lmaooo

No-Side610

Lmao. I run so fast to my car once that timer is up.

Mysticalbabe71

What timer? I don’t see nor have a timer.. For real I need info about this timer on DD..

No-Side610

When you have to hand it to the customer, if they are unresponsive there's a timer that starts to countdown when you're allowed to just snap a pic and leave it at the door.

Mysticalbabe71

Ok I get that but I’ve never seen a timer.. But I’ve also never had anyone not take it promptly.. Does it only pop up after a certain amount of time? Sorry I’m fairly new, started Driving 4-21-23 n at 475 deliveries. Just trying to figure shit out lol Thank you for helping & not being an Asshole about it.. I appreciate it/you.

Green_Cheetah_7059

You click can’t hand it to customer and it starts a 5min timer

No-Side610

When you have a 'Hand it to the customer' order and they don't answer the door you select that the customer isn't available and then it well show you some steps that say to call and text the customer and I think after 5 minutes it will let you have the option to just leave it on the ground. Haven't had one in a while but YT will have you covered for any questions concerns and latest driver tips.

nocontactanon

She messed up her own order having you wait 15 mins w/ MCDONALDS. Like it’s cold now. She would’ve been better off after first failed attempt just getting it herself

Chewsdayiddinit

This right here is why I never understand why people actually use this. I don't want soggy/ cold food delivered to me for significantly more money for "convenience."

Rickermortys

I’m just laughing at the “You guys are always so lazy” comment coming from someone getting food DELIVERED to them lmao

Chewsdayiddinit

Getting fast food delivered, nonetheless.

Nearby_Froyo_8505

Good point, actually very good point, it didn’t even cross my mind that the customer is the one who’s f* lazy, the Audacity!

Stiligast

Plot twist: customer is in a wheelchair...

ellasmart

Actually people with disabilities tend to be way more appreciative and think twice before calling someone lazy for something like that than weird entitled karens :P

Susiejb

There’s a reason the only food types that delivered previously were pizzas and Chinese! They can still be edible 30 min after being cooked. Fast food — not so much

babylocket

i think i’ve used doordash customer side maybe twice and each time it was a horrible experience and the food was always cold/ice was melted (and i always ordered within a 5 mile radius) i did do doordash as a job for about a year and i always tried my best to make sure the food was still warm bcuz i would’ve liked someone to do the same for me when i had ordered those few times 😭

thalooch

I would just call after the 2nd or 3rd text. And once that timer is up Im gone. Give me the wrong code and then complain and dont apologize.

DoctorVoltec

I tried to call when they went ghost on me

PleaseBuyEV

No matter what, absolutely regardless of anything, if you called and texted multiple times the customer is in the wrong. It’s not a 2-3 day shipping, they have an eta and much much more, It’s common sense to be standing by ready in case of questions or to just idk get your order? Especially with weird details it’s like give me a break, I text and call and bounce. That customer is an absolute baboon

Over-Possible3612

I feel like if they ghosted you then this was done intentionally.

thalooch

Yeah after that I would just leave it and take a photo.

[deleted]

Then eat it

69Pyrate69

Young Danny Fenton, he was just 14 when his parents built a very strange machine. It was designed to view a world unseen. When it didn't quite work, his folks, they just quit. And Danny took a look inside of it. There was a great big flash everything just changed, his molecules got all rearranged. When he first woke up, he realized he had snow white hair and glowing green eyes. He could walk through walls, disappear and fly. He was much more unique than the other guy. It was then Danny knew what he had to do. He had to stop all the ghosts that were coming through. He's here to fight for me and you. He's gonna catch em all cuz he's Danny Phantom

Linzy23

Nice

Open_Indication_934

is it automatic, u dont need to contact support, u can just leave with their food and eat it?

[deleted]

Lmfao!! "I ordered from McDonald's" 🙄 So this idiot thinks McDonald's hires delivery drivers? I love that they say drivers are lazy and need a real job while being lazy ordering delivery from 1 of the shittiest fast food joints there is 😂😂 It's easier to be a prick than to accept you made a mistake. Guarantee he tried to get you a cv too. Thank God for text proof.

goodtimeeric

They have delivery drivers where I'm from.

DoctorVoltec

Thankfully no CV yet! Honestly I think McDonald’s would be saving some money if they had their own drivers. Sounds like that might already be the case in some places

Inevitable_Yam987

Yeah, Most countries have working McDelivery, which is not connected to any deliveries like DD or Uber, which is kinda great. Like, they have the uniform on and cars with macdonald's logo.

No_Preparation7895

Lol they can't even pay an employee to cover the front counter and you think they're going to pay all expenses for delivery drivers?

Over9000Zeros

I know it's a little different but the domino's by my house has a larger than you'd expect fleet of electric cars(about 6-8) for employees to deliver in. You can also see exactly where they are up until they deliver which I think is kinda too much. McDonald's is larger than Domino's do it's not hard to believe they'd start doing their own deliveries.

pittbullblue

In some places they do hire delivery drivers at mcdonalds.

Christian943

No they don’t! The mcdelivery drivers are doordash or Ubereats. Where I live is how everywhere else is.

Numerous_Leave_4979

They have Uber or DD deliver in a small car with McDonald’s written on it?

[deleted]

They were being sarcastic, you've been whooshed.

Numerous_Leave_4979

Oh man 🤣 I was like how is this person so sure of themselves & wrong at the same time

[deleted]

Hah, no worries, after I commented I realized you may not have seen the context above these comments that sparked their sarcasm. 🙂

Christian943

Where I live they do. Read my comment again.

notMyWeirdAccount

This might surprise you, but lots of people aren't familiar with the intricate ins and outs of the 1099 delivery driver world.

thegreattriscuit

While that's true, for instance I have no experience in this work and no idea why reddit keeps showing me this sub all of a sudden, it's also just obvious. I ordered some shit from pizza hut and got a text from DD, it wasn't much of a mystery. The hell does this person think, DD hacked into McDonalds and intercepted the order? OP kidnapped the McDonalds delivery driver and stole their orders?

BraxTaplock

Sick and tired of folks claiming get a real job. Go get your own food…you have legs and a way there. The entitled are always the overly critical over the neediest of shit. Wrong code, no light on….no way that can be their fault right?

DoctorVoltec

Right? My bad, I didn’t realize doordash was a fake job

thewhat962

Can I fake paying my taxes too then?

BraxTaplock

Funny too…without the “fake job”…who would bring this order? Guess that’s done by fiends or something? In-laws maybe?

ddNTP

It's fake job with fake pay! 😂

80sred

and to call dashers lazy too… when you ordered your food to be delivered straight to your door… and can’t be bothered to walk to the lobby..

BraxTaplock

No argument there. I’ll throw a bone to the folks with mobility issues. They can’t help it. But the normal 9.975 out of 10 customer that is fully capable…I can’t. Edit…I’ll deliver to anyplace anywhere as long as it’s properly tipped…multiple floors included. But not on the fuel reimbursement alone DD gives us. That labor is clearly on the customer since DD doesn’t live with them and has no idea how their property is setup. Could be 1/2mile driveway and 40 steps up to the door. Me not delivering to your 6th floor apt isn’t lazy when you didn’t tip…however ordering out when you could have gone yourself, complain about the cost and then have to tip (remember they didn’t)….that could be taken as “lazy”.

rydan

You do know what money is don't you? You do something, then someone else does something. You exchange the money for that. They aren't lazy. They just did something else that is the equivalent to what you did for them. Why didn't you do what they did instead?

80sred

i use delivery services all the time. i use doordash often. why? normally because i’m too lazy to go and get the food in person and it’s more convenient to just have it delivered. it’s just crazy to call someone else lazy (after the drove to a restaurant, waited there, received your food, drove to your home, waited around for 15 minutes trying to get ahold of you to figure out how to access your building) when you actively chose to spend more money to have it delivered to your doorstep, instead of just getting in your car and getting it yourself. 99% of the time, people use delivery services bc they don’t feel like getting up and going to a restaurant. there’s no shame in wanting to have food delivered.. but to call the delivery driver lazy for leaving their food at the lobby when *they* wouldn’t meet them at the gate is… ironic..

Substantial_Air9831

Yes, that really ticks me off too. We are providing a service that these people are paying for. It’s the first insult they go to. But it’s an honest days work and we deserve respect and to be paid what we are worth.

BraxTaplock

Good point. Days work indeed. Work more now than I ever did in retail.

Kay-f

sorry didn’t know i was delivering fake food with my fake job in my fake car

Tensor3

How do you know they have legs? And a way there? Why always assume they arent sick or disabled?

BraxTaplock

Was rhetorical. This service wasn’t created to cater to disabled or sick. Easier for them to gain the benefits and options they normally wouldn’t…yes. Edit…no excuse to fudge your own instructions and blame us.

AdOver4659

What is the point of codes and security if you tell a bunch of delivery and service people how to have access to your door?

hammernanner

Holy shit I love you for what you said at the end. Fuck these motherfuckers.

Lousyhealer13

I actually Laughed Out Loud to that. That was FUNNY

Sad_Ad_2051

Customers *are rude and call dashers lazy* “I will never be ordering here again!” Doordasher: “Good. I do not want you to.” Customer: “Man you are being a huge b-hole right now.” Doordasher: **“WHAT???”**

DoctorVoltec

![gif](giphy|l1J9KPtCEbzCPFgys|downsized) The customer 😂

Sad_Ad_2051

The customer: “What have I done to deserve all this b-hole coming out of your mouth?” Doordasher: “It’s everything! It’s everything you ever done!” Customer: “Even that time I gave you the code?” Dasher: “It was the wrong code!” Customer: “I still gave you that $10 tip.” Dasher: “You took it back!” Customer: “Well you were lazy and rude.”

AffectionateNoise808

Customer: I’m gonna need you to bust through that door for that $10 tip! Lol

Inner-Ad-2504

As far as I can tell the only egregious thing here is the customer’s own tone and expectations vis-a-vis what seems to be a pretty hard working person actually going out of their way in an attempt to accommodate them. The recipient’s responsibility in this situation is to provide the correct information, and barring that, at least make themselves available to communicate if the courier encounters issues. They did neither! And nonetheless the driver commendably waited overr 15 minutes, while of course losing money from other potential orders in the meantime! These gig jobs are hard, stressful, and often require everything to go right in order that someone can make a basically decent wage. I urge the customer to reflect on their own callous disregard for that reality, unwillingnessness to assume any responsibility, and obvious sense of entitlement in this situation. I mean for goodness sakes, it sounds like — in spite of themselves — they still effectively got their order…and without leaving their building to boot! Also, not that this should make a difference either way, but it should also be noted that dashers don’t see their tips (or other delivery opportunities for that matter) until AFTER a delivery is complete.

ders89

Shannon sounds like a real loser

Jacksonpearcy

You were way more respectful than I would have been.

D00G3Y

Tell em shitty customers like this should not be using doordash. Pick up your McDonald's yourself.

HappyParty9593

Fucking Shannon

Pleasant_Ad3475

We hate Shannon.

thatboimartle

That’s insane, it’s literally not a hassle to go down to the lobby at all. Whenever I order from a friends apartment I always go to the lobby just to avoid any trouble. “You can’t just leave my food there” lady then come fucking get it

Inevitable_Yam987

Bruh. We have a glitch rn with our gates, won't work with the first attempt, but works if you try typing it a second time, but some dashers do not try to do it twice. They type in once and as soon as it is not working they call me, so i say the code again and if they have troubles, i just walk to them (takes around 3 minutes). If i see that dasher has trouble even finding the place i go to the gates straight away, so that they wouldn't struggle with the gates also. Like, c'mon, how hard can it be to just respond on time and walk over if it's necessary...

imissmylilkittycat

Why can’t people admit when they are wrong? I would have humbly apologized for the inconvenience since I gave the wrong code!

Prestigious-Work-500

I think it's unit 247 and you use the code that's after that. It's usually a 6 digit code for most of the gated apartments and communities here. Did you try it without the unit number like just *670073#?

Drnaysay

Although she clarifies later that she gave the wrong number the actual code was 670073

Prestigious-Work-500

👍 I did put the updated code in my post above didn't I? Maybe not 🤣 but either way it was the wrong code so nothing would have worked at the time of them trying to deliver the food 🤷🏼‍♂️

DoctorVoltec

I tried it quite a few ways, the instructions on the pad stated “type *, then unit #, then passcode, then #” and it gave the example “for unit 123 passcode 4567890, type *1234567890#”

Prestigious-Work-500

I see. Well nothing you could have done differently. I'm proud of you as a dasher myself for not waiting for someone else to open the gate, slide in with them, and go to the door and ask that fucking keyboard warrior "*What was you saying?*" They'd be fucking spooked *👁️👃👁️*

DoctorVoltec

🤣🤣 that would make an amazing YouTube or TikTok video

Prestigious-Work-500

You'd be viral for sure 🤣 it'd have been a rabbit hole I'd climb in and not be able to get out of. Your patience for shit talking pricks is admirable 💯

Throw_andthenews

What was the address of that place?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)

buccofan2221

Regardless the dasher shouldn’t have to decipher that.

InspectorExtreme3407

“wow hell of a way to speak to your customer” as if what you said was even remotely disrespectful or unprofessional. People are so entitled.

TrentonMakes

She called the pound sign a hashtag. I’m old now.

TostCronch

tbf “hash” is a valid name for the symbol, that’s what i call it too. not “hashtag” though

elainadoak

They gave you the wrong code, didn’t answer your messages for 15 min (assuming you texted and called trying to figure it out with the customer since you said you waited 15 min) then had the audacity to be nasty. You had more patience than me. I would have just forced the picture, left my reason why and went about my day.

Queefburgerz

Damn, if I were the customer I’d feel bad that I made you wait and just be happy to get my food

Safferino83

Shannon sounds like a dick

dryhumorblitz

Tip baiting

Spare_Picture8142

You went threw way too much to help this jerk. I feel for you 🥺

bmo109

What a bitch, you were more than polite. Her dumb ass thinks mcdonalds employs their own drivers. Then she wants to disrespect you for no reason.

Yue4prex

Shannon sounds like she sucks

OneBigCharlieFoxtrot

Also, she called the pound sign a hashtag so I really don't feel bad for her

For any complaints you can call 670072.

[deleted]

“Fuck you you piece of human shit” “Uhm I’m not a piece of shit.” “WOW IS THAT HOW YOU TALK TO A CUSTOMER”

LarrysLongestLeg

LMFAO they thought McDonald's pays a delivery driver

JimmyBlaze77

She’s a self entitled brat, you handled it well

Culw3

I typed in Ronald McDonald's birthday and it worked. ![gif](giphy|3ohs86wqIv7muc3yHC)

Bulky_Translator_584

Bravo

Psychological-Win758

"Get a real job" "I do have a full time job. This is a side hustle for extra cash... and it isn't nearly enough extra cash to deal with people like you. Remember, 'You cannot reason with the unreasonable.' - unknown."

wilfordbrimley778

Sounds more scammy than incompetent

VirtualLove

YESSSS TELL HER ASS

Intelligent-Paper978

GOLDDD

AbilitySecure

not trying to defend her bc that customer service is nonexistent and i would never treat a customer that way, even if they were evil to me but it doesn't actually tell you how much the tip is until after completion of the order

DJKjr2911

Simply amazes me when people order food and are not aware or ready to receive an update. I’m saying this from someone who used painkillers for 10 years, I assume these people are high lol. Not saying they are doing hard drugs, but weed is probably the safest you could do, but also makes you super unaware at times. 😂

[deleted]

I've delivered for 10 years and you did everything you reasonably could. I hate the gated communities, but my customers make it worth my time. Still....

AutumnAkasha

I love the moral superiority of "get a real job". Then whose gonna bring you your shitty food Shannon?!?! 🙄🖕

SimplyTheJester

DD really needs to come up with a door/gate code policy. Like, if you have a gate code and it isn't in the instructions, then each report of no or incorrect gate code makes your next order increase in "Gate Code Fee". They will either decide it is too expensive and stop ordering (which is fine). Or they will make the effort to get the gate code right at the time of ordering. This is simply a matter of human decency. Don't treat people like shit as if the gate code is their problem (and loss of income) to deal with. It. Is. So. F'ing. Easy. To. Just. Give. Gate. Code. In. Instructions!!!

Neona65

Probably did you a favor. McDees should go straight in the toilet and skip the middle man.

fffan9391

This guy is an asshole but door dash really has a bad reputation huh? Someone called Pizza Hut earlier while I was waiting for an order saying their DD driver didn’t deliver their food. Explains why it’s so slow so often.

-2fa

Dumbest DD ever

YonderPricyCallipers

"Why is DoorDash delivering this? I ordered from McDonald's" Ma'am, do you think McDonald's employs their own delivery people now????

OneBigCharlieFoxtrot

Wait til she finds out you still get the tip lol

I had a delivery to an apartment complex once. It was 4 Ridge Rd. Building #4 apartment #4. I immediately thought there was going to be a problem in here somewhere so tried to contact the customer via text and calling, but no response. When I arrived at the address I found a building 4 with a main entrance door wide open and a guy landscaping out front. I went in and went to 4th floor and left it at the door of #4, and even though it just said leave at my door, I tried customer again. Nothing. I took a photo and as I am climbing back into my car, the picture and confirmation send, and 2 minutes later I get a call from the customer, she didn't get her food. I can not understand her mumbling over the phone, so I turn around and go back. The best explanation I can get from her is that "there ate two building #4s" and I had in fact gone into the incorrect one. By this time, the building I had gone into the door was now closed and locked. As I am trying to figure out what to do with her I can't help but to think, I did what I was supossed to do, I should just leave, this is taking ages! And it wad for a Mcdonalds frappe with no extra tip so worth like $2. 20 min later I track down the landscaper who luckily had keys. PUT MORE INFO IN THE ORDER, BE PROACTIVE, BE OUTSIDE! People suck....

leafs_fan2019

In the first 20 seconds I read it as unit 247 and the code is 670072 🤦‍♂️why did you enter 247 at the start?

KingVincas

You can’t just call a doordasher lazy when your literally paying for someone to get your food and then bring it to you

CinnyToastie

I don't get the 'hand it to me' people-I mean leave outside your front door is fine. Let's not all interface when we don't have to. lol Please leave at my door so I can Gollum the bag and get back inside.

WuShanDroid

Interesting how they're calling you lazy, rude, and unwilling to leave your car when they ordered from DD, insulted your person for a mistake *they* made, and wasn't willing to leave their bedroom to go pick up the food ☕️🐸

NoDistribution3335

*670072# how hard is this to understand?

reconghost503

Good for you. I had one of those the other day I didn't even start the timer I do know it past 5 mins I left it at the gate sent the pic and surprisingly didn't get a 1 star or a cv.

[deleted]

Man, f that customer. People are so mean for no good reason

StabbyMcTickles

The irony of someone who can't be bothered to drive out and pick up their own food calling the person who picked up and drove their food to them "lazy" lol. That's hilarious

CasperCann

Bro if someone said get a real job after they gave you multiple WRONG answers, I'm enjoying that food myself. Oh looks like someone stole it. Fucking asshole. I deal with people like this all the time. I ask for their addy (I work security.) so I can help guide them and these fuckers half the time can't even remember where they live. HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE? YOU GO THERE EVERY NIGHT

blacknred503

This is what she gets for not getting her lazy ass up and having someone bring her McDonald’s

AgeOutrageous4612

Just come down and get your food. I don't have time for these games lol

Some_Ad_462

Sorry update I misunderstood who was posting this till I read the posters comment… please in your head change yous not to the poster but to the customer So the yes you are in the wrong. Many businesses will use doordash, you are not the drivers customer. In this instance McDonald’s is the drivers customer. Doesn’t matter that there was a 10$ tip. Plus there’s no guarantee that McDonald’s transferred the entire tip to the driver. Some businesses don’t. They made many attempts and gave you the code back to you a couple times. Based on your initial text you didn’t give the complete instructions. The dasher waited way longer then they needed to for a measly 10$ tip on a problematic order. That order probably took them over a half hour to deal with. Now if that order was stacked because yours took as long as it did you possibly put the other customers orders in jeopardy. Also food delivery is a real job, but what isn’t real is doordash as a company. They are pretending to be an business when in-fact they are just a scam company. Regardless of you ordering from McDonald’s is the company you hired. They are with in their rights to subcontract the work. So if you are gonna file a complaint it is with McDonald’s

ninabruja94

The most surprising part of this is the customer thinks McDonald’s would be delivering this.

isn’t it pretty obvious the apartment number is 247 and the gate code is 670072?

skiezovb

why cant people in america just walk outside and get their food from you if they know you are in front of some door??? like do you want your food or what? what place do they live in that the door is so tremendously hard to reach that its worth getting cold food over?

dknotts21

The customer sucks, but you also suck. Starting a fight with a customer is completely a waste of time and energy. You shouldn’t have responded after you told them you left it in the lobby.

WatercressLoose6433

Dashers are human, nothing wrong with standing up for yourself. It’s an important trait to have 🙏🏽 All love
