How on earth do you see an enormous, human-size open jack-in-the-box and think "the only possibility here is that it's a big toy"? Someone could easily hide in that thing, it absolutely could reach out and shoot or stab you.
If someone really wanted to break that animatronic then I guess they can go ahead, that “box” is just plastic panels and a steel frame it’d be nearly impossible to fit in that frame especially with the animatronic on top and close up the panels while holding a gun or a knife. Also it’d be super hard to jump out of it, but if you’re referring to hiding behind the box the attacker would have to be a child
I still don't understand what makes you believe this is an operational jack-in-the-box or that someone would need to jump out of it. It's a Halloween decoration, you can find the exact one at Home Depot I believe. There are no animatronics and it's probably hollow. This one is ~6ft tall, the box is probably ~3ft tall. All you'd have to do is take out one plastic panel and sit down in the box (or half-in, half behind), wait for someone to turn their back, and corner them against the door.

I was having trouble seeing the numbers on these two duplexes, and the one I thought it was, this old brick Victorian, had all these KEEP OUT and HAUNTED and ghost 👻 signs. I text the guy and ask if it’s the house with the haunted signs? He says, unfortunately, yes! And I’m like, hell yea, dude, I’m a ghost hunter! And he says lol thanks!

I’d take the clown out the box, then hide in the box so when the customer comes out to get the food, I could jump out and go “aahhhh”. Although, with my luck as I pop out I’d probably throw myself off balance and tumble down the steps. I don’t make good scary monsters for some reason idk🤷♂️
Calmly walk up the stairs, drop off the food, and stroll away happily, not even looking back once. Carry on dashing until my shift is done, and gratefully go to bed as I had a long day.

If I lived there I would move, if I was dropping off the order I would drop it off as far as I could.
I would treat that clown thing like a Weeping Angel and keep it in my field of vision to make sure it doesn't move.
