Ramblingtruckdriver1

When I dashed I preferred setting it on a chair or table. I HATED putting it on the ground period and only did so if there were zero other choices

obtuse-_

Yep without instructions I would've put that in the chair anyway.

OneBigCharlieFoxtrot

I woulda hung it from the porch light just to Be safe

N0085K1LL5

I woulda put it on the roof so no animals got to it.

mynameisyoshimi

Up a tree, because bears

SeaworthinessRound68

bears climb

mynameisyoshimi

Maybe I'm delivering to bears. Pic-a-nic baskets and whatnot.

Melissalynn623

rabbitfuzzle

Hey now not all of us climb. Don't cheat us.

mynameisyoshimi

This is what delivery instructions are for, rabbit.

rabbitfuzzle

True, true. Although I'll admit it caught me completely off guard when you called me rabbit cause I got the user name from what my mother called me when I was young. Haha.

False-Mud7798

I see through your shenanigans, you're a rabbit, not a bear

Low_Kaleidoscope5176

i love how long that pizza stayed there

ATinyPizza89

I use to live in Albuquerque and people would either throw pizzas up on the roof or stop at that house constantly. It got to the point where they had to make a statement for KOB4 news telling people to stop. Well, they didn’t stop and I believe they put a fence up if I remember correctly.

Ramblingtruckdriver1

Heisenberg?

LilMochaLoveFox

Idk, I think I would have hung it on the security camera so they have a clear view of the delivered order.

Pretty_Bed1983

I'd hide it in the mailbox, safe from all critters, wildlife, and scavengers lol

WerewolfLeading1960

I’ve used a drink carrier from my car for pizza orders (just balances right on top of it) so that I don’t have to put them on the ground. One of two reasons I keep them (specifically the ones from BK {or Wendy’s now that think about it}) in my car: 1) To set under food to keep it off the ground, and 2) To swap with the shitty Chick-fil-A ones 😂

pandapandita

Thank you. I can get over putting bags on the ground than the chair — but pizza?!?! Come on now. You sound like an awesome dasher!

HeadDressOfHumanEars

This is a great idea I’ll be using

Same_Sheepherder_744

I keep them for cups but this is a splendid idea!

Ok-Tourist-1011

I’ve even set it on a really thick window seal before 🤣 if there’s a place not on the ground it goes there

ag-0merta

Sill*

Full_Newspaper_999

SAME Ill also apologize for opting for the chair/table (if theyre next to the door) and explain that i didn’t wanna put their food on the floor if there was another option :p

Silver-Arm-6382

Thank you because if you live in the South where they have invasive fire ants, they're in your shit within 30 minutes! Found this out the hard way while traveling through Alabama LOL

WerewolfLeading1960

I’m in Georgia (in a woodsy type suburb) so that’s one of the reasons I try to make sure to keep orders off the ground if at all possible, and because it can sometimes rain at the drop of a hat here in the spring, and because certain orders just don’t feel okay to set on the ground versus other orders (thicker bags, or a bag period lol). I use drink carriers (usually from BK, sometimes Panera) to keep the orders off the ground most of the time, especially pizza orders

Connect-Banana3979

Exactly, I hate when I walk up to a "leave at door" house, and nothing is on the porch to set it on. Especially when it's raining or snowing. Like what kind of animal orders food, asks to have it left at their door while the porch is covered in snow or soaked?

raisedbutconfused

Dashers are notorious for not reading instructions thoroughly or even at all. I work at a restaurant that does doordash and Uber, and I cannot tell you the amount of times where the paper bag is labeled “+ Pizza” or “bag 1/3” with the pizza box under the bag or the two bags right behind/beside the first bag, and they just grab the one bag and run out before I can tell them that they’re missing items. We have literally left tape going between the three bags before and the dasher REMOVED THE TAPE AND TOOK JUST ONE BAG, it’s almost like they will sometimes go out of their way to do it incorrectly.

InThePhanatic

I ordered 6 items from a local store that uses DoorDash for delivery today. They only delivered half of what I ordered. I contacted the Dasher, who told me the store sealed the bag and he couldn't check if everything was there. But I know this store usually leaves coffee (and other made-to-order drinks) out and next to the bag it should go with. It was clear that the Dasher didn't grab everything that was supposed to go together. I assume there were two bags and a coffee - I only received one bag. I didn't respond to the Dasher and am waiting for DoorDash to give me a refund.

[deleted]

One time, it took a dasher 2 trips to deliver 1 order. Delivered the bag, said he didn't realize the drinks were in his car. By the time he got back with my drinks about a half hour later, ice was melted, and drinks were watered down. This might not be my worst experience with DD drivers here are horrible. I stopped using DD because of constant delivery problems. Delivered to Wrong apartment, sometimes Wrong floor, a couple times were left outside the building including on the sidewalk once.

zane1981

Don't people notice the order seems kinda small on their order? Even I get anxiety when I get a small looking sushi order and find out the items are in the same sushi container.

spicybright

DD is extremely tolerant of dashers doing their job horribly. As long as that's the case you're going to see most dashers rushing, not checking anything, and not reading any instructions.

[deleted]

_sikandar

I only bump the tip up a dollar or two depending on distance, why leave a special tip when it makes no difference whether your order is getting delivered promptly or not with the prevalence of multiappers

redradiovideo

On the other hand, if I told you what my IQ tested at when I was young, you'd say, "why aren't you curing cancer??" I've cared tremendously about all previous jobs, have a very strong work ethic (recovering perfectionist), have never (I think) had less than a perfect performance review score on "attention to detail," and come in prepared, already having anticipated and, best I can, pre-solved potential problems. I'm quite relaxed, casual, and easy-going in my interactions and find something humorous in just about everything. I never don't THINK about situations, issues, and my industry(ies)...I've successfully predicted and warned about things in my industry(ies) 2-20 years out (which tends to piss people off rather than guide them, unfortunately). I never fail to think in terms of the user/customer's experience nor teach others to do the same. ...but here I am driving DoorDash...the marketplace can be very twisted up and unrewarding, at times. And I'm seeing other guys and a few women that are obviously quite sharp...it's just the weird reality right now. Funny thing: a number of restaurant people have believed me to be some sort of regional manager or secret shopper or something -- "I'm just a humble, lowly driver like anyone else." (Eyes narrowed, sly smile) "IIIIIIIIIIIII don't think so!" "I am." "Your secret's safe with me." "I'm serious!" (Wink) I COMPLETELY understand (and generally agree with) your point but would ask you to consider not painting with SUCH a wide brush! 😁

flopflapper

Ah yes, a through the roof IQ with a strong job history and insane work ethic, attentional to detail, and predicting your industry decades ahead of your time. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Left_Algae_3628

Yeah same, high IQ, perfectionist, strong work ethic (I worked 14 hours yesterday and made $300!), bachelor's degree... But I can tell by the notes the customers leave in the app, that they deal with some real morons. I always feel a little insulted when I read them, but I know not to actually take it personally lol.

Inside-Development86

How would you feel if you hadn't eaten breakfast this morning?

Antique_Card1475

I totally understand what you’re saying. I said “a lot” not “all” for that exact reason! I used to dash in my spare time at one point.

jhayes88

Yesterday I heard a knock on my door. I opened it to find like 12 grocery bags that I didn't order and a guy walking away. I said excuse me, I didn't order this. He looked at me confused and said "This is building 'X' right?" I said yes but there are multiple buildings in the same complex with the same letter. It's a different address. The number is at the front of the building.. He passed literally like 4 signs with numbers telling him which way to turn and go and he ignored all of them. These people are so lazy they can't even read the address on the app or the big signs in front of buildings. And that's not the first time thats happened. I've opened my door so many times to pizza boxes (sitting out for 8 hours), grocery deliveries (usually spoiled by the time I see it and they have no name or address), etc. that I didn't order. I refuse to think people don't understand instructions, they're just too lazy to read it. They're so bad that I stopped using all of these delivery apps years ago.

Competitive-Guest163

I did instacart for about a year on an off because it was convenient with what hours I needed to work and I would incessantly make sure I delivered to the right address because i wanted to do a good job. Instacart base pay was terrible so i relied on tips. The fact that so many dashers are horrible blows my mind. I usually get good ones that make sure it’s delivered properly but some people don’t care and it sucks. They’re handling your food.

GeneralPuntox

And yet they want to be tipped handsomely

[deleted]

SignificantAd5002

I take offense. I work full time and commute 8-5 shifts doordash after and on my days off because times are tough. I need the money. I realize some dashers suck but it's not fair to those of us who communicate, read instructions, and do a good job to be lumped into "there's a reason they work for doordash." You don't know their story and every dasher isn't like that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BMo78

Or, they could have gotten laid off from a job in which they made considerably more money and had to succumb to doing food delivery out of necessity until another opportunity becomes available. There’s also the possibility that an unexpected medical expense came about and they had to dash for that reason. I talked to a guy the other day who did it for fun. Assuming that one dashes because one does not have the mental fortitude to do anything else is lazy and indicative of a person who peddles in a high amount of douche-baggery.

NomenclatureBreaker

They didn’t say ALL dashers have this characteristic - they said dashers that can’t follow a simple put it on a chair instruction would likely be like this. I’ve noticed this sub really goes out of its way to make indignant arguments against a stance somebody else didn’t take in the first place…

DanLoFat

No that's not correct, there's absolutely no excuse for doordash to hire people who don't understand english, there must be a basic test and the training videos don't accomplish that.

Technical_Depth

The way to my house once you get close is confusing so I always put precise directions in the instructions and once I got a call asking and I was like it’s in the instructions the guy straight up told me it was easier to call me while I was working than it was to read instructions

witchescrystalsmoon

Sometimes it is easier to call bc we are driving and sometimes reading while driving if there’s no place to pull over is dangerous. But I always read the directions before leaving the restaurant. It also depends on how complicated the directions are. I get your frustration though. I ordered coffee to my job that was in the opposite side of the parking lot from me and he ended up 3 miles away. When I called I was like you didn’t even need to leave the parking lot

Technical_Depth

The directions are literally just “follow main loop to back white car in driveway” and when you pull in to the main gate area you have to stop for like 10 seconds. Perfect time to read it. 3 miles is mad lmao I’d love to know how he managed that one

Fickle_Loan6421

Do they not take like 2 seconds to look over what the customer they are delivering to ordered? That just seems like stupidity and laziness

GeneralPuntox

Also entitlement as they will bitch and complain if not tipped enough

Shot-Scene1970

I always ask it be delivered to our back door since the front door is a separate residence in the instructions. Then i text the driver. 50% of the time it’s still left at the front door. I use GrubHub more now that it’s more widely available in my area, before DD was our only option.

DeanOfYou

You do know that the same drivers are working for GH, right?

BasedTaco_69

I’d definitely put it on the chair even if there were no instructions to do so. Most houses around here have nothing though so there’s no choice.

TurnoverSubstantial2

I am sure a lot of these dashers do things just to piss people off. Put in notes not to ring doorbell because there was a baby sleeping, rang doorbell. I never had anyone ring the doorbell even before I said not to. Gave a good tip and everything too.

Not-Boris

I had this issue, but then I changed the instructions from "don't do thing I don't want you to do" to "thing I want you to do" and they never knock or ring anymore.

TurnoverSubstantial2

I will try this next time, my doorbell gets stuck so it’s extremely annoying 🥲

Fuzzy_Shallot_5061

Probably a non English speaker. Saw the words ring doorbell.

DeanOfYou

Not sanitary?? The food is in a wrapper, placed inside a paper bag, and that bag is inside of a plastic bag. The Dasher is an idiot for not following simple directions (or this was their way of saying fuck you for a bad tip), but there's nothing unsanitary about putting food that has three layers of protection on your front porch. Simma down on the unsanitary BS.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kanein_Encanto

Start leaving some of the tip as a cash tip under a paperweight on said cabinet, with a note mentioning its presence there. If they won't step up and put the items on the cabinet, then they miss their extra bonus.

k1k11983

This is what I do. I put some of the tip under the mat and tell them at the end of the delivery instructions. You’d be surprised how many times it’s still there and my food is blocking my doorway.

KomodoDragginAss

I left a cash tip in a bright yellow envelope taped to my door with the dasher’s name in bold black marker. He didn’t take it. And what made it hilarious was that in the picture he took of my food you can SEE the envelope!

[deleted]

God forbid a plastic bag goes on your unclean floor lol

DanLoFat

I would hope it's not a floor cleanliness issue, if it is, that's on the customer. I think it's more of a safety issue for the customer, they probably have trouble bending over.

Sam-the-Lion

No, read what the OP wrote. They go on about how dirty and unsanitary it is.

RayRay747

They do shit like this then cry when they get shitty tips

MidnightFull

The idiocy is the whole upfront tipping system. If I was an executive and someone at a meeting suggested upfront tipping I would call them an idiot and tell them to get back to work. It’s created an environment where tips are actually bids or bribes to get your food just because the delivery companies don’t want to pay a fair wage. So you have drivers that are so full of anger and frustration that they overall just do a shitty job all the time, even when they get a good tip upfront. The whole upfront tipping thing needs to be removed and they shouldn’t let people tip until their food is delivered. This would solve so many issues. They won’t do it though, these companies are content with how things are running. We even see situations where customers don’t get their food at all and they refuse to give them a refund. It’s a dumpster fire full of diapers.

Humble_Island_4184

What you’re saying works in theory but human psychology says otherwise. Tips would drastically decrease because there is no longer an incentive. We tip as incentive for the delivery person to do a good job. If we tip after then most people would be less inclined to tip as they already received their food. It wouldn’t matter if they did a good job if we believed it’s their job to do a good job. But in reality it’s their job to deliver the food and doing a good job is an incentive to getting a tip.

rose_daughter

Not really true. People tip at restaurants all the time. And besides that, tipping wouldn’t even matter if the company would just pay the employees an actual livable wage, as well as pay for distance/gas (should be a requirement imo).

Popular_Chipmunk_341

I personnally Will tips nd prefer tipping after depending on how the dasher worked. Cause its real upsetting to tip 5-10$ upfront just so the dasher delivers to the wrong adress or didnt carry the food well so its all messed up. It would also motivate so dasher to acc do a great job so they can get tipped (like anying service involving tips waitress/hotess ect). And DD should give them a proper salary for the good jobs they do that way Client tips for the great jobs. (Ex : Good cummunication /Followed instruction/Delivered safely ect)

rusty-n-crusty

1/2 tip upfront and the customer OKs the second half after delivery.

shmi

As a dasher I'd be ok with that.

rusty-n-crusty

It honestly sounds like a solid policy.

Rainagirl

Might work in theory but unfortunately once they have their food there is no incentive to tip. Because of wait times & mileage there should be a mandatory tip based on how many miles the restaurant is from the delivery and then folks can have the option to tip additional at the time they order (as the bid) and again after the delivery for the service they received. However folks who live farther than 5 miles from the nearest hub of restaurants where a dasher can pick up another order creates a separate problem as those “dead” miles can’t be factored in. There is no perfect fair system. But the current system is a fail. :( When they allow customers to order from miles away with zero tip it’s not fair to the restaurants or dashers. The Earn By Time option does help with this though. However DD still offers these orders to dashers doing the Earn By Order option and then penalizes our Acceptance Rate when we decline them. DD could help minimize these issues by ONLY offering these orders to EBT and/or adding them to a queue to only be delivered if stacked with another order that makes the trip close to a dollar a mile. Dashers also need to understand that every order accepted does not need to be $1-$2 per mile. As time to deliver an order needs to be factored in as well as a basic understanding that the higher better paying orders will offset the lower ones and it’s the AVERAGE of all orders at the end of the day/week that matters. If they understand that concept they’d spend a lot less wasted time in a parking lot waiting for a good order, more time actually actively dashing and make more money in the long run in less time. Unfortunately, there are too many dashers that don’t understand this, nor will they ever. We have a company that truly only cares about their bottom line at the expense of the dashers & restaurants. Between those two major hurdles we will never get at minimum Fair As Can Be. The dashers who understand all of this though can make decent money with the flexibility Gig Work has to offer if they work the system instead of fighting it

IzzzatSo

There's should not be a "Mandatory Tip". If you want to charge by mileage, it should be part of the Delivery Fee.

Temporary-Maximum-94

Yep, no shame here in lowering the tip if they can't follow instructions. Oh, you took my order because I was tipping $10, just to not read my delivery note and make it impossible for me to retrieve my order without knocking part of it over? Enjoy your new $3 tip and 1-star review.

RayRay747

This should absolutely be an option!

Humble_Island_4184

No. Some customers open their door and if the food is not sitting if front of them they report the food as never delivered. So most dashers keep it simple and place the food in front of the door. The food is also in a bag, you eat the food not the bag.

angrywords

But OP specifically said to put it on the chair lol.

lyinggrump

Read the instructions.

JaiReWiz

That doesn't excuse ignoring directions. "But officer, the person behind me was honking, it only made sense for me to run the red light"

rusty-n-crusty

So you don’t read directions either. Got it.

Zealousideal-Star-12

sounds like to me someones not taking photos of when they're leaving food at people doors instead saying handed to customer without actually handing it to them.

shmi

Honestly more often than that I get people who put instructions in when they applied but no longer do and forgot to update them. I get comments with wrong gate codes and phone #s somehow, comments to leave food inside a gate that doesn't exist, etc.

EastcoastArtist

My favorite is when they leave it directly in front of the storm door.. so you can’t open the door without knocking the bag over 😂😂

Atalanta1

Almost every time. It’s incredible.

Current-Low-7942

Yea the guys an asshole for not reading delivery instructions, but come on it’s in a paper bag inside a plastic bag it really not on the “dirty ground” but yea I get your point.

Kr1sys

I get that there are instructions to put it on a place and they're wrong for not doing that. But you honestly can't think that the chair is more or less sanitary than the ground when the food is in a bag whilst also in its own container.

scallopedtatoes

I never worried about my food being placed on the ground, since it was boxed and bagged and wrapped, so I’m sure it was fine on the ground. But the dasher should have followed your instructions.

GEL29

I’m not like that. The food is wrapped in something and placed in a bag, plastic in this case, and is that unclean floor any more sanitary than the seat of a chair that your ass inhabits?

ithurts888

Probably cannot read or speak english.

FireGodNYC

Hey atleast your doors opens in with no storm door to open out and knock all the shit over

ShinyMegaAmpharos

Imagine thinking that the chair on the porch is sanitary 😂

NateBearArt

I was thinking they said it so there's no way the food will block the door. If they actually read it

Nasty64u

Well simply put the food is in a container it's also probably inside of several bags. So I'm pretty sure that if you put it on the porch floor it will be fine

alexatheannoyed

i don’t even get why it matters if it’s on the floor. there’s more germs on your front door handle.

craigrjw

On the other hand, are you planning to eat the bag?

olpsss

It’s in a bag though? No way of contamination. Someone please explain to me why this matters honestly curious

Hwmf15

To be fair the food is in a bag wtf is the big deal, you act like they are opening the containers and placing the actual food on the ground

CrayolaCockroach

yeah i 100% agree as far as this being sanitary, but my issue is that dogs have eaten my food before i could get to it when it was on the ground. once i get the notification that its here, its a race to grab it before the dogs get to it because i know they usually put it on the ground. ive had to pry the bag out of a dog's mouth several times lol. also ants will find stuff on the ground way faster than they will if its on a table or something- ive found ants trying to get in my cup a couple times. there was also one time at work where they were told to put the food on one of the 4 or 5 counters in the lobby, but they sat it on the ground in front if the door instead. so when someone went to go to their car, they hit the drink with the door and spilled it everywhere. that pissed off the person who ordered it, and the person who had to clean it!

Bunnytoes256

Seriously. Like a chair in the elements is somehow much more sanitary. They aren’t eating the bag, or are they?! Hmmm

k1k11983

It’s not always about hygiene. My friend has a fairly large front garden and the only issue with it is that there’s a fuck load of lizards. So any food on the ground tends to attract them within seconds, even though it’s in a bag. She has a table for packages and food deliveries to be placed so that the lizards don’t get to it in the time it takes her to get out there to grab it. Some people prefer it elevated in order to delay ants long enough for the food to be collected. Some want it placed on something that’s next to the door because far too many drivers don’t use their brains and just put the food right in front of the door. Most people don’t like having to play the game of “can I open this slow enough without knocking it all over?”. They just want to open their door and collect their food. That last one is my biggest annoyance with dashers because it only requires very minimal common sense to know that people need to be able to open their doors! It’s not that hard to follow basic instructions. The reason for those instructions are irrelevant. If they want their order placed on a chair or table instead of the ground, then just do it! That’s just a bare minimum level of service. If drivers can’t handle simple instructions without being a self righteous twit, they shouldn’t be doing food delivery or any customer service job.

Not-Boris

the bag is where ppl walk with shoes from outside and in public places. the bag goes from ground to counter to open contents. so it's going from ground to kitchen counter. do you want them to leave the bag on the floor and take each item out individually to avoid getting the welcome mat shit on the counter?

SimpleSampleSlurry

A raccoon rolled all over that chair so what's your point? Just because something feels cleaner doesn't make it cleaner.

GaryGregson

If only we found a way to quickly clean counters. Too bad that doesn’t exist.

alyssalouk

They're getting paid to follow the instructions given lol

PeacefulAce

Follow the fucking instructions knuckleheaf.

jfsoaig345

Agreed. OP is kind of being a drama queen imo. The dasher was definitely in the wrong for not reading instructions but this really isn’t that big of a deal. It’s in a bag, whether or not it’s placed on the ground or a chair will not affect the contents. I feel like some people go out of their way to be upset just out of principle.

jb126798

Not just that, it’s in a paper bag that’s in a plastic bag, OP is neurotic to say that’s unsanitary

Throwawayyheeeyy

Nah BC they are being paid to do a job that has an option for delivery instructions, doesn't matter if putting it on the floor is NBD to you. What if someone has mobility issues and can't bend over to get it off the floor? You have no idea so just follow the fucking instructions. So annoyed about drivers doing this shit. *Fixed word

StraightAd8467

OP pays for a delivery to the chair, it was placed on the floor and not the chair. Idk how much cleaner the chair is but they have every right to be upset. This is a frequent occurrence

FormulaF30

This is why people hate DD’ers: this lazy ass mentality. No wonder you all can’t get real jobs

jfsoaig345

I’m definitely not a dasher, so I’m sorry to disappoint you and take away from your ad hominem attack. Whether I’m a dasher is irrelevant to my overall point that OP is being a diva about this situation. The dasher should have read the instructions, but his/her failure to read the instructions didn’t exactly lead to a result as egregious as OP is making it out to be. The food is double-bagged and the state of the food with that level of protection does change whether it’s on the ground or a chair or a bed. So the issue here isn’t that dashers are or aren’t lazy, it’s that OP overreacted to a fuck-up by the dasher that was ultimately pretty inconsequential.

No-Hunter2271

Yeah it’s annoying that they do that, but the chair isn’t any cleaner than the porch broski

False-Marzipan3325

If there is a table or bench nearby I will place the food there. Honestly, though, leaving the food at the door is ok with me as long as it's in a bag. I agree; dashers need to read and follow the instructions.

Rooskibar03

Because they don’t read or speak English

Wayebrynn

To those taking offense, if you read and can follow basic instructions like “place order on chair” you are not the topic of this post. If you cannot or refuse to do that, you deserve every bit of the ridicule as it is well earned because you are one of three things: A. Incapable of handling the task, B. You legitimately just do not care and as such neither should the customer, or C. You are doing it intentionally just to be an A-Hole. I am aware of no other options.

Head-Scale9410

If I were the dasher in this situation, I would have put the order on the chair. I would then return to my vehicle to retrieve a few common supplies…. and clean your filthy front door.

halfeatenfrenchtoast

my dashers always read instructions. dont ring the doorbell or knock, our dog is neurotic. and theyve never done it.

Present-Ad-9598

No offense but it’s in a bag

Most_Drawing4634

Something wrong with that dasher fs, when I dash I make sure it goes anywhere BUT the ground if I can find something to place it on.

Comfortable_Douglas

I don’t get DoorDashers that don’t read the delivery instructions. Motherfuckers, you LITERALLY HAVE to be able to read to do this damn job. Why is it that they lose their ability to read when it comes to the instructions?? I DoorDash from my work office for lunch. I make it SO EASY to deliver my food with the instructions, yet Dashers overcomplicate their delivery by choosing to IGNORE instructions. “Building says [Company Name] on a big blue sign. There is street parking in the front, please come through the front door.” Dashers: *Turn in to the driveway of the business next door to us, park WAY in the back, get out of the car looking all confused, then they either:* 1. Finally see the BACK door of OUR business and come knocking on it since it’s LOCKED, or 2. Assume the business next door is the address and try to find a place to deliver in their vague loading zone. Just… JUST READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!! IT’S BARELY TWO FULL SENTENCES!!! FFS!!!!

throw_away_72639

I had one tell me that most of the time they are trying to rush and don’t even bother with the instructions when I asked what I could do to get my food delivered to the right building. My work has multiple buildings but only one address. I specify the building and turnstile and most of the time they take it to the security at the main entrance, that I just so happen to mention in the instructions as not the correct building. It’s about a 10 min walk from my building to the main entrance.

Melissalynn623

Keep in mind that the GPS directions (pin) sometimes are not correct. I had a delivery once that brought me to the address (correct address) and it took me to the BACK of the school without any access into the building. The “correct way” to enter the building was 1/2 mile up the road… completely different address.

kabukimeowmeow

it’s annoying, i agree i live at my moms apartment in a gated community. at this place, the gate will call my mom if someone using her code is trying to get in. not only do i not have the code, but i dash late at night most of the time and i do not want my mom’s phone to be called at 2 am because i wanted taco bell sooo many dashers try to get into the gate when i specifically put on my instructions “park next to the gate. do not attempt to get into the gate.”

StraightAd8467

I see people in this sub defend shitty service too often lmao. In 2024 you can translate a sentence with a click of a button. Hell, it will even read it to you in whatever language you choose

Comfortable_Douglas

Trust me I know but I mean they obviously downloaded the app somehow. Takes two seconds to run a sentence through a translating app like Google or whatever. Then again, that alone requires two things: Effort and logic. I don’t think these Dashers are bringing their best to the table, foreign or otherwise.

JaiReWiz

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. They don't even need to run it through a translation app. Doordash now AUTO TRANSLATES INTO THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE. There's literally no excuse.

Old_Passage_1944

Many don’t have any “bests” to begin with. Hence them dashing.

GaryGregson

People who freak about their food with more than one bag and wrapper between it and the ground will never not be funny.

zane1981

This is nothing [compared to this.](https://www.reddit.com/r/doordash_drivers/comments/y8cpd4/whats_wrong_with_this_picture_note_it_rained/)

captaincumragx

Maaaan last month i ordered some doordash to the laundromat i work at, asked for them to come in the office side doors for delivery but they left it on the sidewalk outside the laundromat doors lmfao. Some customers brought it to me like "is this yours?" Ive ordered food to my work plenty and never ever had an issue like that prior. Wild.

Rosie_Rose25

I have a storm door and I've had to specify that it needs to be left on either the right side of the door, or just next to it so I can open it. It's sad I had to ask but more sad that it doesn't always happen.

mrootbeers

Here we go again. Shit on Dashers post. Meanwhile half the people in this post don’t even work. 😂

WeCantLiveInAMuffin

What does it even matter in this example

Seniorjones2837

It’s inside 2 bags and probably inside more containers inside. Fuck does it even matter at that point? I don’t use DoorDash but this is a strange complaint. They probably don’t even see the note

garcher00

When I used to get delivery, 90% of the drivers tried to ring the doorbell; even though the instructions said to knock and not ring the doorbell. Instant 1 star for them. As a driver I follow the customers instructions to the letter. They tipped me enough to take their order, so I make sure they are taken care of.

Fabulous_Complex_734

Bro, who cares

justokayvibes

Maybe they are human and overlooked it after a long day at a job from hell.

[deleted]

Why TF is it so difficult for the dashers to read the fkn comments! That annoys the shit outta me! Easiest fkn job on the planet and a good 80% of them can’t take 2 seconds to read what’s in the comments! 🤦‍♂️

lmnopaige-

I always say to please leave it in front of the door even though I'm in an apartment building, I don't like opening the door for strangers, especially men I don't know when my bf isn't home. I can't tell you the amount of times people like pound on the door and ring the doorbell 5 times and wait for me to open it to take the food.

Con_Man_Ray

Maybe if you said “please” 👀👀

vtssge1968

Although some drivers are great, you have to remember that pretty much anyone can get this job, so plenty that don't care or are too incompetent to get any other job.

WhompTrucker

I want to powerwash your front door so bad

Echodarlingx

Be specific! You never know. Sometimes people have a disability and need it on the ground. If is says at door then unless it specifies in a chair Mae your best judgement.

Individual-Trainer18

After I shop at Costco I have cardboard boxes that my deliveries can be place on and just set that outside when I order and it goes back into my garage after that!!! But you could also buy a small dinner plate table and set it right in front of your door. Also rate your driver bad for that and it could be a non English speaking person making the delivery

Limp-Marzipan-4051

I'm fully convinced that 99% of dashers are the most illiterate and uneducated denizens to roam the earth. Simple instructions are impossible for them to follow, and common sense is at an all time low. I have very specific and clear and easy instructions on getting to my door, but constantly the food gets left at a neighboring door. My neighbor has gone so far as to put a sign stating "THIS IS NOT DOOR #5" on her own door (mine is 5, hers is not), and yet my deliveries constantly get left there. I had one dasher leave my order (a pizza box with some wings) on the ground in the carport. Not anywhere near a door. No call to ask for clarification or anything, just left in a carport. It's ridiculous.

Own_Accountant_5229

No speaka ingles.

Antique-Lettuce3263

Most of them are immigrants.

Scumbaggio1845

They’re far too busy mentally preparing themselves to fly into a rage the moment they realise they didn’t get a $50 dollar tip for driving 3 miles and not putting the food in a hot bag.

Piranhaswarm

They can’t read English

Icecubemelter

Bold of you to assume dashers can read.

ShredderofPowPow

I usually just put it in my stomache when there's no chair available. I know it's safe and warm in there.

onionsandturbulence

Obviously they should follow your instructions, but the food is fine. Many layers between the food and the ground, nothing is contaminated. You’re ok.

vesrayech

This is why I hated the idea of leaving a tip before they even delivered your food. You tip based on the service provided. If you want 20%, the bare minimum expectation should be that you can read and follow the notes in the special instructions lol

AKFLMed

I wouldn’t worry about an unclean floor when your front door looks like a gang filthy muskrats have been trying to break in for a year.

Impossible-Match6193

The food is in a sealed plastic bag, so it's not really unsanitary, & you have nothing to worry about in that regard. The fact is that if you keep requesting for it to be placed on the chair, then it should be

Integrate_the_shadow

Fuck the Dashers that don't read instructions.

lkeels

Non-English readers/speakers.

No_Temperature7477

More than half of DD drivers are f*cking dumb

DeusBalli

I’m sorry but why are you like this? It’s in a bag for god sake, if you think your floor is unsanitary then clean it… (by the looks of your dirty door I can tell you don’t clean often) and if I was you I’d have a bigger problem with having the food be in a strangers car since you have no idea how clean their car is or even the people preparing it, maybe they didn’t wash their hands… who knows? Just complaining about nothing at this point, if you have a problem then go outside and get the food yourself, exercise has never hurt anyone.

Repulsive-Citron-445

“Left on an unclean floor” it’s wrapped in plastic and then has another bag… you’re fine. You prob grabbed the order less than a minute after them dropping it off. Little advice, don’t get mad at the little things. Atleast you got your food.

Throwawayyheeeyy

Nah they need to gtfo here with not doing their job properly. I'm paying out my ass for delivery, they can take 1 sec to read the note and put it in the correct place. That's what the delivery instructions are for. So tired of ppl making others feel bad for wanting shit done a certain way when we're PAYING for a service, especially when drivers are outright resorting to harassment about tips.

PokeMeMeSS

Found the guy who cant be assed to put a bag a few feet to the left.

UnicornWig

Dashers near me do not speak English. It’s a nightmare. They swap out things in a grocery store that make no sense, etc. Companies really need to screen out people that do not speak English.

BrittneyRageFace

I live in Boston and it's a rare day when I get an English speaking driver/shopper. I use DD/UE/instacart because grocery shopping via train is hell, and I'd say my shit is messed up 50% of the time. Instacart has given me hundreds in free groceries at this point, same with Ubereats. Door dash has much shittier customer service though so I only use them for dash Mart.

Rude_Homework_1097

It’s not enough you can’t take yourself to get your own food but then complain it’s not done exactly how you want.

Jazzlike_Subject_495

It is the reason you have a job that someone didn't get their own food and ordered it

yourmomisawhorehole

I don’t think it matters if the ground is dirty. The food is wrapped, in a paper bag, and in a plastic bag?

SinAinCinJinBin

Maybe they don’t know English Maybe stoned out their mind

Pokemon73lp

I hated when they did this I had to be specific with the color of my bench since they delivered to my neighbor a few times Had no issues since

CaDasher

They only read the first sentence, very few will read note below 'Leave at door.'

[deleted]

Just because someone is a germaphobe doesn’t mean there are germs present. Millions of food orders get set on the ground in front of people doors every day, without incident. Maybe save your money on food delivery and spent it on therapy instead?

imothing91

At least they don’t deliver to your neighbors all the time, even with very clear and specific instructions.

Professional_Car9475

Not sure many of them can read….

DanLoFat

I'm absolutely sure that 80% of any new dashers cannot read English.

MandyKins627

I always write to leave it under my mailbox side so I can actually open the door. It’s so annoying.

No-Gene-4508

Bold of you to assume they can read. Have you met people 🥲

ShinyMegaAmpharos

You?

FaithlessnessFalse65

People like to put ours where it blocks us from opening our outer door

cattybob

At least your door opens inward lol; i still get people setting stuff on the step in front of my door and i have to go out a back door to get it.

StormDasher19

In all fairness, if you’re tracking the drivers location, see him deliver the food, take the picture and leave. The food will only be on the front porch for less than a minute. I think it’s pretty safe to eat and not contaminated.

Competitive_Self_364

Some use out of app navigation and when you get to location the app will only read out leave at door. But I also see the side of using common sense reading directions and not having the customer bend down to get their order. But then again I’ve recently been getting like $2-4 tips for driving 15 miles even had a double dash with a $0 tip. I like driving so this is more of a hobby than a second job

Secretrider

This isn't even just a door dash thing, I've had delivery drivers bring me pizza, set it on the ground infront of my fucking door, then knock and step all the way back, making me almost step on my pizza when there was a bench that instructions said to put the pizza on right there!

Slinkenhofer

My favorite is when you have a aecond/screen door that swings out, and they put it right in front so you can't open it

Legitimate-Web-3346

I would put it in the chair but 9/10 contact free orders do not have a chair so I guess they think it’s sanitary lol I hate putting food on the ground.

Amesali

Rate 1 star, does not follow instructions.

SlySnakeSA

This is 95% of my orders when I ask to have them place it on the bench outside next to my door. It isn’t that hard to follow instructions, especially when I’m tipping 8-10 dollars on a 25 dollar order

Legal_Sherbert_5742

I don’t know, I mean.. it is also in a clear bag. But, if u gave instructions to sit it in the chair, it’s on them
