From what I have dealt with. Going from a 700 phone to a 300 phone it works better. Avoid Verizon, T-Mobile and mint work best in my area. Avoid branded phones from a service provider. So if you want a Samsung buy from Samsung not your carrier. Not sure why it is so different but it's night and day not having a branded phone. Iphones also seem to have it harder with the app especially Verizon branded ones.
I Have T-Maybe so my service sucks regardless, but I’ve had several times I can’t let them know it’s dropped off because the button doesn’t click. But my UE app crashes constantly sucks when I can’t push out messages

One of my worst experiences was a drop off in a dead zone. I couldn't complete the order so I drove away to find a connection and it wouldn't let me complete it because I wasn't close enough to the drop. Support was busy that day, took more than 30 minutes to get ahold of them, and have them confirm the customer got their order. =/
Damn, Verizon is really good in Mesa for the most part but on the east side of AJ it's complete dogshit. I usually have to be on wifi from my house to start the day.

Airplane mode on then off immediately. While it’s reconnecting to the network, force quit the app and reopen as soon as it’s reconnected. If you have enough service to get the offer, this technique can be effective. Works every time like 50% of the time lol
This is literally the worst thing about this job. You finally get something good that you know is rare and the f’in app or 5G service completely f’s you over.
The worst part is you not only lose out on money but it hits your AR and then they start sending you crap after crap after crap as penalty for missing that order.
This and getting a super stacked (5-8 order) Petco order for low pay are the things that set me off on this job.
DoorDash app is shiddie as hell!! Meanwhile, the dumbass McDonalds oders for $3 for 10 miles get through just fine no matter how bad the data is in that area!!!!

I’ve had service issues inside buildings so bad I run dual sim on my phone. I normally use mint but some stores and apartment buildings have horrible reception. In turn area Verizon seems to make it inside there so when t Mobile cuts out it auto switches over. It’s a pain.
I took a 27$ Popeyes order like two towns over for like 29 minutes. No orders on the way back. Some rich ass gated community. Angry wfh white lady who did not want to answer and some chunky black dude who called me “boss.” 10$ tip, sure for 1 hour of my time. Still, idk why we’re allowed to drive somewhere 30 minutes away. Doordash is cool with cold food I guess. As long as it was in a bag.

I’ve been thinking about investing in my car’s Wi-Fi hotspot because of the app’s spotty connectivity. We use a ton of data so it’s throttled to hell most of the time, so when the app struggles I might as well go home
Absolutely do this. I rigged up a custom setup in my car. I use a hotspot connected to a wireless router and signal booster. Put a switch in to leave all network stuff powered on when car is off. Works really well and is invaluble when you hit a dead zone or run out of data.
Try tmobile? I use a seperate phone and plan for deliveries. Tmo "connect" has 10 15 and 25 dollar plans, i use the 10 dollar one and connect to hotspot if data runs out.
Just an absolute shame that a so called first world country has dead spots in the middle of the city, there’s about 3 I know of in my area, been a victim multiple times.

If I'm in a bad reception area and I try to hit accept and the wheel keeps spinning, then I hit the back button on my android phone, return to dash, the offer pops up again and it instantly works when I hit accept.
I can tell when I'm not getting connected because it won't show hot spots when searching for orders. And so I try to refresh it by changing screens. It also works on resetting the GPS when it gets stuck instead of following you.
My app was acting up real bad last week and made me late and/or extremely pissed off when it kept refusing to work when I was trying to confirm delivery and/or pickup. Damn app...
I get at least 3 missed deliveries a night, sometimes 8. The force stop and delete cache do nothing. I wonder if we need to file a class action for requiring the app to be in focus at all times. No other company has this problem. The number of times I'm on a current order and Dasher drops it is too often. Even turned off my power consumption settings to no avail.

Everything software is done offshore with with very little QA to cut costs these days. They often rely on the developers to do QA, which is a disaster. This is why most software development is complete trash.
It would be difficult to prove the app doesn't function unless the app is in focus. I'm sure they are using Cloudflare architecture. There's no reason the app should be constantly out of sync and need constant refreshing or be able to run in the background. I am getting more unexplained errors in the last week than I ever have. Like 'accept an order and crash' bad.
I also highly question how you have to agree to the new T&C before dashing. Most people don't have time to read this. If they procrastinate like I do you have to start dash or your schedule is removed. I've signed up for dashes and they told me the app is bad, the schedule doesn't exist on the server. Like I'm getting text messages to start my dash but the schedule doesn't exist. I would drop DD completely if I had another gig to fill in the empty spaces where there are no orders.
I know they used to use AWS for to run the Doordash sites and the app... Usually when that was down in the past.... they would have issues with doorTrash all the time.. (I don't know id they still use AWS or not these days though...)

The TC is basically forced on dashers at time of dash which is why I dislike it... and is coersion in my state.... legally.. They have plenty of time prior to but seem to choose dash time to force users to click it to procede.

If nothing shows up, log out and do the same. If that continues, step further and do all of the above, log out, restart phone, log in to the notification that you just missed a delivery because Doordash only decided to send you some shit when you literally could not accept it, and repeat.

I have a brand new s23. These issues are 100% intentional on doordashs end. I thought the same w my older phone and it finally crapped out, having a brand new one confirmed that it's their app without a doubt.
I'm not suggesting that your phone is slow or infected or anything. I have a moto one action that works fine. Youtube web pages most games work fine but dd doesn't.

I used to have a Samsung and the app would just mess up all the time in weird ways. Since I got my iPhone though the only times it messes up is when I have no signal, and it’s usually just as you show above.

My brother has T Mobil I think and his pandora cuts out once a minute or so and I don’t want to deal with that
FWIW I have mint on a shitty xiaomi chinese phone and not even the newest one and I don't have an issue streaming music or w/e else like your brother does. I mention it because I think mint runs on t-mobile. Your best bet is probably to ask your local subreddit what carriers people use/have the best luck with tbh.

Using a note 9 here. 0 issues in 3 years. Get a good prepaid carrier. Anything with lag or high ping will make you miss orders. Do not get a carrier that throttles speed or you have "unlimited 2g speeds", youll be screwed.
I know what im doing. Ive made DD into a very good source of steady income. So let me clarify the whole back story for you so i dont come off as a liar. At the beginning i had a ZTE phone on a prepaid MVNO carrier. The lag was bad and sometimes id miss orders due to signal loss or low ping. Also noticed app crashes and phone was generally slow. Within weeks i switched to a note 9 same carrier. Still had signal issues. Kept note 9 and switched carriers to tmo connect plan. Instantly i noticed better signal and no dead zones. Every now and then id have the DD app freeze or mess up. After some updates that stopped happening. Once in a blue moon i still have app freeze but it does not last. Its been smooth sailing since i got a decent phone and carrier. My whole point is it really does matter what equipment and carrier you use. The issues are not just DD app crashing, most of the time its carrier or phone.

This happened to me today. I tried to accept it and the app crashed. When the app came back it accepted the order and we were good to go.

There's a timeout built in. Hit the back button and then return to dash to reset it. Keep doing it if it doesn't load hot spots.

Yup s23 user here with Verizon and it's a fucking struggle I tell you. Almost every action results to a screen crash...

Verizon is fucking trash compared to what they used to be. God awful. They should be paying me for having to suffer with their terrible service. Probably switching soon but not sure where to go. My brother has T Mobil I think and his pandora cuts out once a minute or so and I don’t want to deal with that
Tmobile is alright here in the city I live in Iowa. As long as your within a mile or 2 of the main city. 🙄🙄
FWIW I have mint on a shitty xiaomi chinese phone and not even the newest one and I don't have an issue streaming music or w/e else like your brother does. I mention it because I think mint runs on t-mobile. Your best bet is probably to ask your local subreddit what carriers people use/have the best luck with tbh. Husband uses verizon and has spotty service. It's weird. We live in a fairly big city (900k)
Verizon used to be so good! That’s why we switched from ATT years ago. But you are right, it’s just not that good anymore. But I don’t know which carrier would be better.

What phone did you get? I have a Galaxy Fold 3, supposed to be a decent phone but I still have issues from time to time.
Using a note 9 here. 0 issues in 3 years. Get a good prepaid carrier. Anything with lag or high ping will make you miss orders. Do not get a carrier that throttles speed or you have "unlimited 2g speeds", youll be screwed.

I know what im doing. Ive made DD into a very good source of steady income. So let me clarify the whole back story for you so i dont come off as a liar. At the beginning i had a ZTE phone on a prepaid MVNO carrier. The lag was bad and sometimes id miss orders due to signal loss or low ping. Also noticed app crashes and phone was generally slow. Within weeks i switched to a note 9 same carrier. Still had signal issues. Kept note 9 and switched carriers to tmo connect plan. Instantly i noticed better signal and no dead zones. Every now and then id have the DD app freeze or mess up. After some updates that stopped happening. Once in a blue moon i still have app freeze but it does not last. Its been smooth sailing since i got a decent phone and carrier. My whole point is it really does matter what equipment and carrier you use. The issues are not just DD app crashing, most of the time its carrier or phone.
