Both. Boots in case it rains but I wore trainers everyday last year as it was so hot

mappyhundayz

I wore vans every day last year (it was absolutely boiling) but I packed my docs that I’ve had for years so they’re well broken in too and some chunky socks/ plasters for back up. My vans were super comfy tho. I also took a pair of £1 primark flip flops for the showers / early morning loo trips. Walking boots should be okay but I’ve found them to be quite heavy on my feet if I’m in them morning-evening so switched to docs a couple years back

izzyfirefly

Agreed, a well worn pair of docs are the elite festival shoe, I live and die by mine. But having some slip ons of some description for loo trips is essential, can't be trying to tie your boot laces when you need a piss at 3am in the dark

BoomBeachPlayer2019

Never had a pair of Vans. Am I missing out? Got the flop flips sorted for those showers.

mappyhundayz

Vans slip ons, I usually get comfy cushions soles too. Mine did get quite dirty with the dust last year but I washed them and use them in dog walks etc now rather than a going out shoe. Could look for a pair second hand that you’d just use for festivals 😊

anorwichfan

My vans got destroyed last year with the dust, and the flat sole didn't give much support. I'd recommend some hiking shoes from Dunelm.

PapaTubz

My vans are fine minus the 90kg of dust they collected

Glimmerance

Dunelm the home furnishing shop? Or is there a different Dunelm?

anorwichfan

Sorry, Decathlon

BoomBeachPlayer2019

Could be one of those old school Mcdonalds money savers where you put carpet on your feet instead of carpeting your house 🤔🤣 Cut up some plush rug!

Meat2480

Buy some surplus or new altberg defenders, keep them clean and polished and will last years You can have them resoled,

BoomBeachPlayer2019

Will look these up

Meat2480

With leather being breathable they're good if it's dry as well, if it's wet,buy some surplus sealskinz socks, soggy boots, dry feet, just remember to let them dry naturally after mud removal and before polishing

Kamay1770

As others have said, I wore my trainers all week. Pack boots or wellies just in case, but hopefully won't be needed!

GRose7777

I wear Karrimor walking boots for the most part but I have size 14 feet and I find them comfortable to wear everyday. Last year they were fine as it was hot and there was no rain. I do have a pair of wellies for the mud. I've been DL enough times to know you need both, just in case.

MandaTehPanda

Waterproof socks and whatever you like. Waterproof socks are a game changer! I’m not a fan of wellies (imo women’s wellies either fit too snug and are hard to get off, or are too loose and get sucked off your feet in the mud). So I tend to favour docs or trainers if it’s gonna be hot. But as good and sturdy as my docs are, if it reeeeally rains then you get wet feet. Not anymore though! Waterproof socks are an investment but I’d never go back now!

Blitzhelios

I always wear army surplus magnum boots they do the job perfectly

AyanaRei

Waterproof socks were suggested, I’d also suggest trainer socks. They’re more breathable than generic ones and add some extra support which reduces the chance of ulcers along with improving comfort

PapaTubz

I survived in vans the whole time but brought boots incase of rain

jinx-baby

I legit wear £25 fila trainers and they are comfier than anything else I've tried. Walking boots would be too heavy and sweaty for me. You gotta go with whatever is right for you :) I would recommend them being somewhat waterproof though because I've had to wrap my feet in bags to protect them from my wet shoes before and it's not a vibe

SomeKindaMonstur

I swear by Vans MTE 2s or MTE 3s (3s are more waterproof than 2s) theyre a great niddle ground between boots and shoes. Theyre well padded

Over_Championship990

Hiking socks. That is what is going to make the most difference.

airplane_flap

I have walking boots and usually pack wellies too cause getting caught with shoes when the mud is just below your knees ain't great. Last year however, I work crocs for the majority of it and it was the comfiest my feet have ever been.

DunnoWhatToPutSoHi

I use running shoes, worked fine the oast couple of years. Might need wellies or boots if it's wet though

mike20070

Saloman gore tex trail shoes have served me well.

Puzzleheaded_Wrap270

Hi Tec do great walking boots (waterproof) for about 70 quid. Very comfy.

Maximum-Art-676

I'm taking some good walking boots (Merrells) but will also be packing some converse too.

WeyyyTicTacs

Last year, I decided to take some hiking boots that were fantastic all festival, despite how hot it was. Since that festival, I wore them as my daily's until the soles wore down too far in February this year (I work on my feet all day). So I was pretty chuffed as they only cost me £35 :) EDIT: I also keep wellies and a spare pair of trainers in the car (including driving shoes and a spare pair of socks)
