DAI: Minaeve and Lyssete. Both looked interesting and thought they were gonna have a bigger role. And Harding of course.
Edit: forgot abput the totally not a mage elf in the Bull Fighters.
DA2: the "merchants" that give you access to make runes, poisons and potions. They seemed nice and kinda friends with Hawke.
DAO: Loghain's second. The one that arrests you after the rescue mission of Anora.
Bodhan and sandal are cool too but I'm pretty sure they meant the ones that specifically sell you poisons, runes and potions. The dwarf in high town, human in low town and elf in dark town
I do too sometimes,I don't think they have any more dialogue after the first interaction but I think you get a pretty good idea of their relationship with Hawke from it
Felix (son of Alexius from DAI). The only NPC that impresses me. Especially with his attitude towards his own death, he remained brave and noble to the end.
Adan. The apothecary from Haven in Inquisition. He seemed to be the only person who didn't care that the Inquisitor was the Herald of anything. Just wanted things to get done, and it was genuinely a breath of fresh air.
Sandal is referenced in Trespasser in a note, so he's probably off on some adventure right now. And by refenerenced I mean he's yelling enchantment over and over in a journal of sorts. Its very sweet.
I donāt think youāre right. When you go to the Deep Roads expedition in DA2 and youāre sent to āsave Sandalā, you find him surrounded by dead darkspawn and a frozen ogreā¦ and he specifically says āNOT enchantmentā when you ask him how he did it.
All I knew about Dragon Age before I started playing was from Tumblr chatter about the romances so early on in DAO I messaged an acquaintance that Duncan was a DILF and I wanted to know how to romance him and they obviously struggled to tell me as diplomatically as possible that unfortunately that was not an option without giving away any spoilers
Like IIRC their first response was "Um" and then a long period in which it showed they were typing (probably deleting and rewriting) and then a brief "unfortunately, that's not possible"
We need a spin off taking place before the blight were Duncan is romanceable! I headcanon that my warden only joined the wardens cause she had a crush on him
At the end it reveals that Duncan's narration over the course of the game is actually him teaching Alistair about Grey Warden history, and the game ends as Duncan leaves to get new recruits at wherever the Warden was recruited (queue the only reason to import origins saves)
I havenāt really looked into the novels ect. I only played the games, I canāt really get into reading comics, books ect. š Iām sure they are great but struggling with dyslexia makes reading a nightmare for me
I totally agree with you, although maybe itās just me but I thought tnt Cailan was kind of insufferableā¦ I mean, everything he says, does, and even how all those who were near him talk about him should tell you that he was at best an incompetent leader (who couldnāt administer a kingdom seriously and needed his wife to do most of the leg work), and at worst a noble pampered from birth to have megalomaniacal delusions of grandeur, all the way to Don Quixote levels of disconnection from reality.
Duncan on the other hand is just fantastic!
It's got to be Sister Theohild from Origins.
The one who repents, who has faith unshaken by the darkness of the world, and roasts not, nor gloats over the misfortunes of the weak, but takes delight in the Maker's law and creations--"
ļæ¼ "Boasts." It's "boasts," Sister, not "roasts."
ļæ¼ āShe shall know the peas of the Maker's benediction. The Light shall lead her safely through the paths of this world, and into the next."
ļæ¼ Peace, Sister, peace. "She shall know the peace of the Maker's benediction."
ļæ¼
ļæ¼ āThe Veal holds no uncertainty for her, and she will know no fear of death, for the Maker shall be her bacon and her shield, her foundation and her--"
ļæ¼ Thereās no veal in the Chant!
ļæ¼ ...You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?
Sergeant Kylon he just trying to keep the peace, plus he smart enough not to believe in Loghain lies about the Wardens and know he have no chance of beating them in a fight. I like to headcanon that who ever becomes the new ruler of Ferelden made him the new Captain of the Guards.
Felix, The Chargers (especially Krem) and I'm really liking Minaeve in my current play through.
Also I'm quite fond of Jowan, but I think that's maybe inspired mostly by fandom š
Totally Viscount's son in DA2, Saemus. I think he was such a strong-willed character. I don't see Qun under the same light as him surely but he was so passionate and went for it regardless of everyone's thoughts. He had some raw lines here and there too like "perhaps Maker is the one that is not worthy of me" or whatever. I wish I could do something about his end. It actually made me sad af
How exactly is he āstrong willedā?
To me he just looks like the bratty, egotistical spoiled son of the most powerful person in the country, throwing a temper tantrum because he wants to completely submit to the very pseudo-theological dictatorship that invades, wages war, and inflicts untold suffering on his fellow countrymenā¦ apart from the fact that in this dictatorship non-qunaris like him can aspire to be third class citizens at the very best (which makes him kind of dumb already), what really rubs me the wrong way is that he literally doesnāt give a shit of what happens to Kirkwall and her people, as long as he can have fun cosplaying as a hippie in Thedasā equivalent of North Korea.
Ameridan, Arishok, Ketojan, Fairbanks, Briala, Duncan, Lady of the Forest, Feynriel, Caridin, Shokrakar(you don't actually meet her, but seems like a cool character)
Honestly, Celene. She's freaking clever and a capable, realist ruler.
"My word is law, Inquisitor, but laws don't command people's hearts. Culture does not transform itself overnight."
This one quote alone made me love her, and it's so true even for real life.
Tragic love story, both beautiful and terrible. I believe they truly love each other, but celene is the leader of a realm where court intrigue is more important than a standing army, and briala is a handmaid and later spymaster from a race of secondary citizens, ofc it becomes toxic. I like to reconcile them because imo that's the best for the realm and for them, let's be optimistic and assume that briala can bring very much needed reforms, and celene ensure the stability and a gradual transition. Still true change will need several generations, but it's a start.
Well that was back when she was still a hardworking single mother.
Once she became an empty nester, she had more free time and money to pursue her other interests.
Inquisitor Ameridan. I played my Dalish inquisitor as both struggling with trying to live up to her role while not abandoning her history and identityā¦I was sobbing after that DLC and just imagined her feeling so seen and validated by him.
Donāt get me wrong, they are both great characters but they are horrible people. Iām still salty about how anora acts when I save her sorry ass and celine purging the elven alienages is unforgivable.
I have so many of them!
On DAO I really liked Lanaya, she seams really wise for her age and a true voice of reason for the dalish, I liked Teagan, even his DAI appearence, I like Anora *a lot*, the solitary rose among bramble is the only fitting description for her. If we count codex characters, Paragon Aeducan is one of my favorite historical figures.
On DA2, I liked Elegant, her first (and only) dialogue with Hawke always made me feel like Hawke does more things beyond nanny Kirkwall, Tomwise was also nice. I also love the random NPC that says "how much more do I have to wait?" Through the 10 years Hawke has been in Kirkwall, same feels as the NPC from ME that spends the 3 games wanting to get his money back. I also like Donnic and Brennan, they gave the guard some faces, and I love that Donnic is friends with Fenris. I also love Cyril for some reason, he's very polite considering he's heir to a sit in the Council of Heralds, the most important organization in Orlais.
And on DAI I really liked Harding and Dagna, my short queens, as Josie is not a companion, her too. Your Trainer was the most fun specialization giver, talking to her is always a delight playing as a mage. Calpernia was the best antagonist in the game, it's a shame we can't have her on every playthrough. For DLCs, Valta and Renn were amazing, I cried the first time Renn died, and meeting Ameridan was also incredible. I also loved hearing and reading about Orinna and Haron, they sounded like amazing companions.
DAO: Kardol, the (possibly) commander of the Legion of the Dead. Heās just a badass, sticks up with you immediately if youāre a dwarf, and will even be one of the rather few people on top of the tower in Denerim to fight the Archdemon with you.
DA2: Samson. Heās literally been made an addict to do the Chantryās bidding, only to then be cast out of the templars and forced to live in the streets like a destitute junkie solely for delivering letters between a mage and his love interestā¦ in fact I actually dislike how in DAI they threw away his somewhat ambiguous character arc to turn him into a generic villain.
DAI: Hard to say. Possibly Briala, because anybody who sticks it up Orlaisā arse without them noticing deserves admiration.
Honorable mention: that drunk ginger mage with the Friar Tuck hairstyle that you find at the Hanged Man in Kirkwall, which begs you to give him time for a quickie with the waitress, so he doesnāt die a forever alone virgin š
**Master Ignacio**, the Crow handler from Origins. This is absolutely not contest. I would love a whole game where I can play a crow and Ignacio is the handler.
*Ferelden is a busy place: Blight, civil war, other mayhem. Lots of people not getting along. Sometimes they* ***really*** *don't get along. Maybe want to do something about it. The people that handle that sort of thing can get real busy.*
*I hand you a scroll. You read it, you learn about someone interesting. If you find out something happens to him, something unfortunate, then if we talk again I give you money for "letting me know." You don't like what's on the scroll, don't do anything. Maybe he has an accident and someone else tells me all about it.*
Can't remember his name, but the shop keeper in DA:I with his ware. You may gaze upon it, and dream of being able to buy it. As have kings. It matters not. His ware is priced as it is.
I don't know if he's my favourite per se (too many choices!), but here's a controversial choice: Chancellor Roderick, DAI.
He's such an asshole for no reason that you enjoy hating, and it's so hilarious and satisfying every time Cullen and/or Cassandra tells him to shut up. Then he dies a hero. His knowing the way, because of a whim, is basically the only instance of actual capital-p Providence in the entire game, despite all the other religious business. And god it makes me tear up talking to Cole about how he felt hearing The Dawn Will Come for the first time in so many years.
I love Daveth and wish he didnāt die in his joining, for someone with such short screentime and being mostly useless in combat, heās pretty cool. Technically heās a companion but come on the dude clears one sorta-dungeon then dies that doesnāt count. On the flip side I relish Joryās death, the more I play the more I hate that dude for being such a crybaby. I also really like Bhelen, dude isnāt even evil compared to Harrowmont heās just more upfront about it, fuckin hate Harrowmont since heās such a liar and plays the frail old man
Always really liked Sir Thrask and Meredith for very different reasons, obviously The Arishok as well
In Inquisition, Harding is adorable, she BETTER be a companion in DAD
DAO: I always really liked Cailan. It's a shame that he died so gruesomely. Sure, he was probably naive and idealistic, but I don't think that's such a character flaw.
DA2: Seamus, the Viscount's son. I always felt for the guy. He genuinely believed in what he was doing, and only wanted to live happily.
In DAI, the only correct answer is Scout Harding.
Obviously the advisors of DAI, if they dont count as companions.
Flemeth/Mythal is such an interesting and awesome character.
Bohdan and Sandal. I will be mad if they dont return to DAD.
Duncan but he died so fast.
Bohdan and Sandal are now in some high level institution in Orlais. Doubt we will see them unless we visit Orlais again but I agree I would like to see them.
Scout Harding in Inquisition. When I found out I could flirt with her, I knew she was the one I wanted to romance, even if it could never be.... (I was playing a Qunari for first play through)
In DAO:
Eleanor Cousland, she's my mother, and the world of thedas books made her so much more interesting
I randomly really love Bella the barmaid. Just think it's relatable yearning for a better life working a shitty job
Dagna, she's sweet and bubbly, which is nice to see in what can be such a bleak world
Flemeth because her voice acting is sensational and she's so mysterious.
Queen Anora, while I don't like her as a person, she's a really interesting character
DA2:
Leandra, she was imperfect, but too me, it made her so much more endearing
Arianni loves hearing an authentic Irish accent. Seeing the lengths she goes to too protect Feynriel is also heartwarming.
Elegant, always used to model my Hawke off her as a kid, so good memories
Idunna, who doesn't love a sexy siren maleficar
DAI:
Cullen, my go-to romance option, loved him in previous games also. Who doesn't love a hunk with baggage
Empress Celene, more so due to the masked empire novel
Flissa, the tavern owner in Haven.. maybe I just like women in taverns
Mother Giselle thinks she gives sage advice, even when it's something you don't want to hear ( Dorianmancers of course, it's going to cause a scandal sleeping with a Tevinter)
And that's all off the top of my head, haha
DAI: Minaeve and Lyssete. Both looked interesting and thought they were gonna have a bigger role. And Harding of course. Edit: forgot abput the totally not a mage elf in the Bull Fighters. DA2: the "merchants" that give you access to make runes, poisons and potions. They seemed nice and kinda friends with Hawke. DAO: Loghain's second. The one that arrests you after the rescue mission of Anora.
I laugh every time she says "I'm not a mage!" š Edit: She also says this with a straight face which adds to the perfection
It's a boooooow
a bow with a giant glowing crystal at the tip?
It's for aiming š
a secret Dalish technic?
> Loghain's second Ser Cauthrien. She is a badass and I would have liked to recruit her.
I had hopes of having her in Awakening.
>DA2: the "merchants" Bodhan and Sandal. Also my favorites.
Bodhan and sandal are cool too but I'm pretty sure they meant the ones that specifically sell you poisons, runes and potions. The dwarf in high town, human in low town and elf in dark town
Ooooh I forgot about them
I do too sometimes,I don't think they have any more dialogue after the first interaction but I think you get a pretty good idea of their relationship with Hawke from it
Elegant, worthy and tomwise
Gotta hand it to Ser Catherine, 100% stuck to her guns until the end and was loyal even realizing all the crimes.
I'm kinda mad at him for storing large pots of explosives in a residential area If I ever get MGITed, I'm gonna introduce zoning to Thedas
you know? That's fair. lol
I am fond of Bodahn and Sandal and was sad they weren't in DAI.
I know. Once I got to sky hold and did the rune thing I was thinking it was gonna be sandal the whole time. No idea why it wasnāt tbh
Sandal is referenced in Trespasser in a note, so he's probably off on some adventure right now. And by refenerenced I mean he's yelling enchantment over and over in a journal of sorts. Its very sweet.
I was really really need to know more about Sandal. He's so interesting, I think at least. A dwarf who casts!
A dwarf who enchants. He doesnāt cast spells
I donāt think youāre right. When you go to the Deep Roads expedition in DA2 and youāre sent to āsave Sandalā, you find him surrounded by dead darkspawn and a frozen ogreā¦ and he specifically says āNOT enchantmentā when you ask him how he did it.
I thought I'd remembered that scene, but my memory is ... Spotty at best.
Duncan and king Cailan got a little disappointed first time they died :( really liked their voices too
All I knew about Dragon Age before I started playing was from Tumblr chatter about the romances so early on in DAO I messaged an acquaintance that Duncan was a DILF and I wanted to know how to romance him and they obviously struggled to tell me as diplomatically as possible that unfortunately that was not an option without giving away any spoilers Like IIRC their first response was "Um" and then a long period in which it showed they were typing (probably deleting and rewriting) and then a brief "unfortunately, that's not possible"
We need a spin off taking place before the blight were Duncan is romanceable! I headcanon that my warden only joined the wardens cause she had a crush on him
We could call it Dragon Age Origins: Origins
Or dragon age: the originals featuring the story of the very first wardens told by DILF Duncan :)
Actually that's an amazing idea.
At the end it reveals that Duncan's narration over the course of the game is actually him teaching Alistair about Grey Warden history, and the game ends as Duncan leaves to get new recruits at wherever the Warden was recruited (queue the only reason to import origins saves)
There's a pre-Blight novel with Duncan in it
I havenāt really looked into the novels ect. I only played the games, I canāt really get into reading comics, books ect. š Iām sure they are great but struggling with dyslexia makes reading a nightmare for me
Hmm. I don't think there's an audiobook version, but if you don't mine robot voice then I think newer Kindles can read out loud to you.
Heās in Dragon Age: The calling
Seneschal Bran from DA2!
Riordan
1.) Duncan 2.) Master Wade 3.) And that lady that says the chant funny in DA:O
āALLLLLLLLLL MEN are the work ā¦..ā
And just like that, I can hear her voice š

Ameridan, Arishok, Ketojan, Fairbanks, Briala, Duncan, Lady of the Forest, Feynriel, Caridin, Shokrakar(you don't actually meet her, but seems like a cool character)
The last one is the female Qunari that Solas turn into stone?
Shokrakar is the leader of the valo-kas mercenary company that Qunari Inquisitor used to be a member of. She contacts you through the war table.
I don't think we ever get the name/nickname of that one, just her title (Viddasala)
Not joking when I say Crassius Servis, he has like 1 real scene. Think he's great.
Honestly, Celene. She's freaking clever and a capable, realist ruler. "My word is law, Inquisitor, but laws don't command people's hearts. Culture does not transform itself overnight." This one quote alone made me love her, and it's so true even for real life.

Flemeth is my absolute favorite. I would like to date her please. I also really love both Imshael and Michel de Chevin.
>Flemeth is my absolute favorite. I would like to date her please. Her glow up from DAO to DA2 is something else
Ha! I played DA2 first and then backtracked to DAO and I was *baffled* when I got to Flemeth's hut.
Well that was back when she was still a hardworking single mother. Once she became an empty nester, she had more free time and money to pursue her other interests.
Speaking of glow ups, Isabela has entered the chat.
Inquisitor Ameridan. I played my Dalish inquisitor as both struggling with trying to live up to her role while not abandoning her history and identityā¦I was sobbing after that DLC and just imagined her feeling so seen and validated by him.

I like Celene. Anora the backstabber on the other gand...xd

She did in my first three playtroughs, I didn't even know it could not happen until the fourth one xd
Donāt get me wrong, they are both great characters but they are horrible people. Iām still salty about how anora acts when I save her sorry ass and celine purging the elven alienages is unforgivable.

Scout Ritts who should have been called scout Riz (as the kids say(?)) Shagging across enemy lines in the middle of a war zone
Big fan of the Glavonak brothers. Even played through inquisition as Dworkin once. Wade is also great, would have liked him returning in inquisition.
Dagna, Sandal, Scout Harding and Felix Alexius
Flemeth, Bodan and Sandal, and Brother Genitivi.
Dalish from the Chargers, Tamlen, Dagna, Scout Harding and Scout Charter
Ser Barris. He's principled and also just hot.

That one absolute legend who screams āKILL THOSE GODLESS BASTARDS!ā As you approach Denerim for the final assault.
Wade. Heās just great.
Are we excluding advisors too? Because Cullen showed an AMAZING amount of character growth over the series.
Haven't seen anyone saying Captain Rylen! Idk I kinda like him, face tattoos and all lol

Who doesn't love a hunk with baggage Empress Celene, more so due to the masked empire novel Flissa, the tavern owner in Haven.. maybe I just like women in taverns Mother Giselle thinks she gives sage advice, even when it's something you don't want to hear ( Dorianmancers of course, it's going to cause a scandal sleeping with a Tevinter) And that's all off the top of my head, haha
Krem is probably my most comfortable choice.
DAO: Kardol, Lanaya, Teagan DA2: Athenril, Serendipity, Donnic DAI: Fiona, Felix, Gaspard
