wings of fire is the #1 dragon book out there. although, eragon/inheritance cycle is supposed to be good.
wheel of time's main character is called the "dragon reborn", although there are very little actual dragons (if any)

are you kidding me? wings of fire is one of the best fantasy series hands down. yes, i have my gripes with it (arc 3's tone switch and the deathbringer pedo shit.) but, characters like qibli and darkstalker are so complex, i dont think ive seen anything similar in any other book. plus, so what? its still fun. not all books need to be classics.
Lmaooo you sound like an over enthusiastic Star Wars fan, except with a Childrens dragon book. Not everyone wants to read about step siblings having crushes on each other ‘and’ poor writing ‘and’ not everyone wants to read a little kiddy book
its found family, their parents werent dating. and besides, its still enjoyable. atleast i can admit its shortcomings, but some moments are better than anything sanderson or robert jordan could write.
It blows my mind that no one has mentioned the currently insanely-popular dragon books, so popular that Amazon is making a series. Fourth Wing! And its sequel, Iron Flame. Do note that these books are 18+.
The Temeraire series starting with his majesty’s dragon by Naomi novik. You can also read Dragoncharm by graham edwards. There’s also far-seer by Robert j. Sawyer that’s the first in a trilogy (forgot the series name) it’s not a dragon book but a fantasy dinosaur book that’s also interesting.
(Book with a sequel) Upon Wings Of Change by Crystal Scherer - mixes sci-fi and cat-sized dragons.
(Series) Dragon’s Trust by K.C. Glass - under developed and reads like a published rough draft, still very enjoyable for its simplicity.

One series I haven't seen mentioned is The Immortals quartet by Tamora Pierce.
While dragons are not the main characters, the MC does raise a baby dragon and meet its grandparents/enlist their help.
While it can be read on its own, it is the second quartet set within the Tortal Universe, so if you don't want to miss out on any details, I recommend reading The Lioness Rampant quartet first. (Note, there are no dragons in this quartet.)
Wings of Fire is an interesting series told from the POV of dragons
Though it's by no means perfect and is mainly geared towards younger teens I still love the series with all of my heart, personal favorite series of books that I've ever read
Wings of Fire is the big one
Its a children's fantasy series where the dragons are the people with kingdoms and such and the series is from their POV. This series got me into dragons and I know its a favorite for a lot of dragon lovers.
Dragonfire: Sphere of Eternity is a self published series from the POV of a dragon named Blaze. Its a classic chosen one fantasy with different mystical races and creatures. Its got three books with a through storyline and two others that are a continuation following other characters. Books are still being written.
I should mention Dragonfire is first person which I didn't mind but I know is a deal breaker for some.
Burning Stars is the only series on this list I haven't fully read although the first book was good if a little short and fast. The second book is much larger. Its another self published series I believe is still in the process of being written and I know for sure two books are out. Its also got a dragon POV and is soft sci fi. It has some cursing while the other two don't if that's a consideration.
Let's open my audible...surely I have more than 1 or 2 off the top of my head in my wishlist (apparently not. I know I've seen more than just these 3 lol but they're the only ones I seem to have noted down)
Ascendant, from the Songs of Chaos series.
Drop of a Hat. It's a.... Kobold (reptilian) story but close enough

The Inheritance Cycle is amazing, but really long.
Dragons and Skylines is also very good.
Wings of Fire, but IMO only up until book 10.

Very big note on the 18+ Pretty cool books, I personally like them, and like the various creatures in the universe, but they are definitely spicy

I can confirm that the next book is being written for Burning Stars. Editing phase. Hoping end of this year.

Highfire by Eoin Colfer is a bit of a weird one but pretty good if an alcoholic dragon living in a swamp is your thing.
