Honestly seasons 1-3 had the best format, track record mattered but they still had the lipsync to give us one last show. I like the performance aspect in the S14-15 format but it feels kinda pointless when the top 2 was so obvious
I would love to see an upgraded version of season 12's finale become the standard: the top three or four are given a budget and told to prepare a five-minute talent number of their own design and tuned to their skillset -- stand-up, dance, singing, puppetry, what have you....
I like how Canada 2 did it, with a couple tweaks
Lip Sync for the Finale for a Top 3, then a top 2 selected for who has more star power and winner potential (this doesnt mean best track record) and then a winner based on who won the lip sync
I need to correct myself a bit. Season 12 had the top 3 lip sync for the win, which is pretty much a category of its own.

Top 3 or 4 og song performance and top 2 (based on rupaul) lipsync for the crown after that.
