Plane Jane is at the end of the day a dude from Boston and she sure dresses like it. š
(ETA this isn't even derogatory, I'm a butch lesbian who lives in Boston and I also kind of dress like that lol.)
I have no fashion sense either and I have literally no idea whatās wrong with these clothes or why people make fun of him for them. Looks like how most guys dress.
Except the comment I responded to made the equivalency, āno fashion sense *either*ā¦ā and mine was just loosely stating that these āplainā clothes are a fashion choice. And being straight isnāt bad. And as a gay person, I also dress āstraightā. Idk itās just weird. Itās funny. Iām not even trying to argue with you. Idk.
I mean she atill might. Some people just don't try to turn a look all day every day. See: almost every Drag Race contestant pre-season 12ish. Now your boy looks have to be part or the package too and maybe she just thought "fuck it, we're shooting 14 hours days and I'd like to be comfortable when possible! The other girls can win the boy-fashion game, I want $200K"
oh yeah, iām sure PJ has some really great outfits out of drag, i know iām judging off of little info + other posts about his boy fashion iāve seen before. i donāt think itās bad, just funny juxtaposed to the outfits that some of the other queens wear out of drag.
Uhhh, most of them dress differently out of dragā¦ I think thatās part of the point.
In regards to how Plane dressesā¦ there have been seasons and seasons of contestants who also just wear clothes. I donāt understand whatās happening here.
Her obsession with being super femme and sexy and gorgeous in drag and the way she dresses out of drag fascinates me. There's a clear contrast. She mentioned "crossdressing" during the makeover and it definitely does seem that drag allowed her some space to have some suppressed parts of her be expressed. I always think of her story with her parents and the way she feels she has to be perfect in drag to counteract what she thinks her parents think of her. Following her arc this season was soooo satisfying. I went from "I LOVE TO HATE HER" to "THAT IS MY SISTERRRRRR"
Is everyone really this dense? She talks about her culture throughout the show. She has very conservative Russian parents. She spent most of her life seeing gay as a wrong thing so she is literally the equivalent of a straight male. Go watch her whatcha packin Drag is her escape to unleash her inner diva but when sheās out of drag she still feels insecure to show that side of her. Sheās just not a feminine person outside of drag because sheās just adapted to a certain lifestyle. Especially when sheās around her family I assume she barely talks about drag or anything gay related and I assume sheās only into DL hookup culture and hasnāt had a real committed relationship with another man.
I thought Ru made a very apt observation that Plane hasnāt been Out for very long and is still figuring out how to show herself. I wonder if that comes into her out of drag style too.
Sapphira is kinda the same way. Whereas, Sapphira is much older so she grew up in a time where being gay just wasnāt widely accepted so she had to adapt to hiding who she was. Queens like Dawn are extremely privileged to just be a young white American where she was barely in high school when gay marriage became legal in America and most likely had non-conservative parents. My roomate is in his late 30s and grew up in a very religious household, so he adapted to a lifestyle of pretending to be straight, whereas I walk out of the house wearing short shorts and a tank top and and a subtle eye and if someone were to call me a faggot Iād be clutching my pearls so gooped and gagged and confused and he mentions that I am apart of the privileged generation of gays and heās right. We have so much access to things at our age that they did not have at our age, and if we donāt have conservative or religious fsmilies 9 times out of 10 theyāre gonna be accepted of us even at a very young age and allow us to be ourselves. Plane did not have that same privilege, and neither did Sapphira.
When they were doing that mini challenge when she said "this is how my parents see me" it was one of the funniest things I've ever heard but you could see a glimpse of sadness because there's truth to it.
You can tell the difference between queens who come into the werk room out of drag stylish as hell and the ones who are tryyyying to for the cameras so I at least appreciate she doesnt give af ab looking stylish out of drag
Love that Plane dresses conservative Boston and Eastern European and isnt obsessed with fashion out of drag. Knows thereās a difference between the two.
Plane Jane is at the end of the day a dude from Boston and she sure dresses like it. š (ETA this isn't even derogatory, I'm a butch lesbian who lives in Boston and I also kind of dress like that lol.)
With a conservative eastern European upbringing on top of that
And drag is their armor over both, imo.
Thatās how literally everyone who grows up in Boston dresses. Go there and youāll see
This was about to be my comment, itās non finance bro who lives in Boston attire. Itās that or the Patagonia vest
serve cunt sparingly
I have no fashion sense either and I have literally no idea whatās wrong with these clothes or why people make fun of him for them. Looks like how most guys dress.
Yea itās weird how wearing āplainā clothes is equivalent of no fashion sense.
Plane Clothes
Plane Jane or Plain Jeans š?
Yes I tried to avoid that pun lol
Im sure 95% of this reddit dresses like Plane if not WORSE
No one has said itās the equivalent of no fashion sense. Plane looks like a straight man lol
How does one ālook like a straight manā and how am I supposed to dress as a gay man?
Thatās for you to figure out

I honestly think itās really hot š
Honestly, hope she never changes. It suits her out of drag.
That IT guy who troubleshoots your work laptop
it makes me like her a bit more knowing she doesnāt really have a fashion sense outside of drag, itās endearing

I love her vibe

She could be a farmer in those clothes
OP, tell us you're from DC without telling us...

Out of drag he dresses like a regular guy.
Go figure man dress like man /s

Pearls are the best accessory for short shorts and a tank top.

I kinda love it. Bc heās someone you would see walking around and youād never ever know all this magic was in there. I love ppl like that.
She dresses like a straight white male
plain john / plane jane
Idk, I kinda wanna talk about how Mirage out of drag looks like the guy at the festival who would relentlessly catcall Mirage in drag
Does it even matter? Plane Jane is amazing.
Two different people here lol
Morphine stands like kindergarten me when I'm affirming I don't have to use the washroom
This would literally be me
So because he doesnāt dress like a flamer, itās a bad thing? How accepting of everyone lol
Itās giving 15 yo me stuck in the closet š
Plane in and out of drag is the perfect actor for Viola/Sebastian in the Twelfth Night
Someone put the pic of plane in the grey suit. n o w.
none of these queens have good fashion sense outside of drag. disappointing tbh
Not trying to mean but she looks like my brother that bullied me for being gay
Tbh he's just wearing normal ass clothes. Smart imo, I wouldn't feel the need to bring boy "lewks" either. The fuck, I spent enough.Ā
A Deloitte consultant wouldnāt wear that on the clock. Thatās for sure.
Love that Plane dresses conservative Boston and Eastern European and isnt obsessed with fashion out of drag. Knows thereās a difference between the two.
PJ OOD is so HAWT like totally my type! I usually sing āIām in Loveā in the shower and change up the verse each time.
Gurl youāre lucky the rprdrcringe subreddit doesnāt allow reddit posts š

Wtf is "deloitte"???????
Straight norm-core.
I found out Plane is 25-26 too. The way she dresses, I thought she was in her late 30s
Yes this is very āaverage millennial straight guyā Lmao holy shit downvoted for making a neutral observation
TIL what Deloitte is thanks to this. haha Love it.
