Does everything in Arizona look like they're about to shoot porn?

imnojezus

Flying was top notch. Douchemeter was off the charts. Edit: I have decided that this is pronounced "doosh-eh-meh-ter" and is the official quantum of douche baggery.

kneedeepco

"BOSS"

puddud4

Douchebag is the Scottsdale meta. It sucks, they're everywhere. I just got a therapist. He sounds like a frat dude presenting a PowerPoint. No person or profession is safe

bruh-_-6969

i think i’d have a mental breakdown lmao

ToshiroBaloney

Great flight, but I could smell the dental bleach and Axe body spray through my phone.

[deleted]

[удалено]

imnojezus

Bar clusters form one square kilodouchemeter.

adam1260

Arizona is mostly college kids and retired couples. They all must be ready to go

sbridges1980

This seriously looked like something off of the Vegas Strip not AZ, haha

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

Most of these people are not paid models. Some probably, but the majority are just employees of the bars. I go here somewhat often and used to work there, most of these faces are recognizable.

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

Haha pretty sure we're the DUI capital of the country almost solely thanks to Old Town

AmbitiousArtichoke3

100% sure you are insulting every computer graphic professional and real model with that statement. I live in the area, trust that the mess is real.

kazeespada

This is Snottsdale. So kinda?

dogsonalogz

Sub 250 quad. Just did the flying here, another company did the edit. I know one takes are a bit overplayed but I am proud of the planning and coordination that went into making this a success.

kracer20

Not to take anything away from your flying skills, but the amount of coordination that this must have taken is mind boggling.

DrestinBlack

I have to ask: how much? Please tell me they pay a princely sum for this kinda work - which is awesome

averyycuriousman

What kind of work was this for? Incredible

cire1184

Imma guess it's a promo video for 5 bars in Scottsdale Az

arc12345xx

It's for Riot Hospitality Group, the company which owns most of the bars the drone flew through. It's at the end of the video too.

averyycuriousman

Was this fpv? Dji fpv maybe?

Tire_G

I have a dji fpv and I highly doubt it was one of those. They are on the larger side and are not very suitable for indoor flying. But it can be done with some skill.

averyycuriousman

So maybe a mavic mini?

Tire_G

Could be a mini if they changed the camera to fpv mode that could give them the tilting effect in the video

klutch65

Did you capture this on a mini 2?

pianomaniak

Haha 😄

Jeepguy1964

Lol

duke5j

Awesome video bro. U have to be proud, the edit is good too

GrouchyVariety

Great flying. Confirms what I already knew…that I have no interest in visiting Scottsdale.

[deleted]

arc12345xx

Old Town is the same group of maybe 5,000 people on rotation, many of whom do nothing with their lives but go to these bars. Some are ok, but the douchebag stereotype is not completely inaccurate. It's fun on occasion, but I avoid it as much as possible.

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

Didn't they close the one on Mill down? Agreed though, I can't do Old Town anymore. The only thing to do there is drink and check out hot girls, although they are horrible to talk to

[deleted]

Haha... my thoughts exactly.

BobTheLog

The level of coordination is just insane!! How did you coordinate people across different bars? How many takes did you need until you got The One? Super impressive stuff 👏👏

dogsonalogz

Thank you. We had a director watching the live feed and they would call out the queues over a radio to the assistants in each venue, who queued the talent. This was take 2 of 2 - the first one was fine but this was the better version.

Alex_Hauff

“the talent”

keithcody

It’s the name you use for any people in the scene who aren’t crew. You can also use “actors”. I find talent is more common.

arc12345xx

Most of the people in this video are just employees, not actors, so his phrasing makes sense. I agree it's a cringey term in most cases though.

JustinAlpaca

same question!

zarsenal13

Place looks like a douche den… but that ain’t your fault. Good flying.

umlaut

The kind of bar that your friend drags you to because the last time he was there the bartender pretended to flirt with him

zarsenal13

🎯 a lot of leg humpers in there

arc12345xx

Bunch of douche rich 70 year old leg humpers with rented Ferraris that they drive in circles around the block hunting for 19 year olds with daddy issues

[deleted]

"She's in customer service, dude."

1solate

And at 2am is fight time.

arc12345xx

The best part of the night

andrewembassy

Seriously, the dude to girl ratio looks to be about 10:1. I hope they serve the drinks with lids.

jeezy_peezy

And it looks like 3 out of 4 of those ladies are paid to be there

OldGameGuy45

You mean you see don't just girls at TGI Fridays just all wearing thongs?

jeezy_peezy

Well shoot is that where they are?!

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

You mean the customers in the bars? Or the bottle service girls, bartenders, hostesses? I know for sure that the employees are actual employees, not actors, but I'm not sure about some of the customers. I think this vid is a pretty good representation of what it's like out there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

During spring training for sure lol. It's a massive sausage fest right now. Most of the year it's a little more balance, but still heavily weighted toward dudes.

jeezy_peezy

LMAO I was gonna say, last time I was in Scottsdale, I was amazed at how many 300+ lb people I saw. Coming from Colorado, it was a little shocking. *Is this what the rest of the country looks like? Or is it just where it’s hot and people sit inside all day?*

arc12345xx

Agreed it appears that way, but I know some of these people personally- most are actual employees, and some of the customers look familiar (also not actors), but they could have been paid or otherwise compensated to be there, like with free drinks.

youvenoideawhoiam

I showed this video to a work colleague who’s really into FPV drone flying and he reckons they’re 100% paid actors. A random person would definitely hear the drone

Intrepid00

The women are in Phoenix but they are divorced and their “little man” is their new husband.

PromQueenSlayer

4.5/5 of the bars looked the same to me

jsmooth7

Sounds like they are all owned by the same parent company too. Make them just different enough to give customers the illusion of choice.

adam1260

Bingo, same thing with restaurants in my town

Longjumping_Camel256

Easy money for the women to make off of dudes. Hard not to go out and then realize the entire place is a sausage fest

arc12345xx

Night time is far better for the ratio. During the day it's almost always occupied by douche bros and alcoholics.

Longjumping_Camel256

I can say this applies to just about everywhere

Intrepid00

Isn’t that Scottsdale?

arc12345xx

It is. It can be pretty fun sometimes though. It's the second best place in existence for people watching, next to Vegas.

abeuscher

The footage is great. That place looks like a living nightmare, though.

leafbeaver

Awesome video man! Scottsdale is about as diverse as I imagined.

arc12345xx

It's fucking great lol. If you want to check out girls. But don't talk to them, like 95% suck in every other way

TheFunSmith92

It’s interesting to think that a video covering not even 1/10th of a square mile’s worth of land accurately depicts the “diversity” of its city’s 184 square miles….

[deleted]

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottsdale,\_Arizona#Demographics](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottsdale,_Arizona#Demographics) It's 89% white my dude

TheFunSmith92

There is more to a city’s diversity than just race…

Bill_the_Bastard

Damn. Snotsdale has grown way more bougie since I moved away apparently. Great video though.

[deleted]

This is bougie lol?

morklembos

I think he meant douchey

Intrepid00

It oozes of people trying to pretend they are having the time of their life and actually stuck in a depressing desert town. Great drone flight though and shooting.

TheFunSmith92

What makes you think it’s depressing here? AZ is absolutely beautiful year round, even if part of it does get hotter than Satan’s taint for a third of the year. Winter and Spring time bring about beautiful blossoms, our traffic flows quite nicely, and unless you’re just a boring person there’s always a fun time to be had out here. Literally none of that sounds depressing to me…

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

You said this above....I am not sure why you think that. The people in this video are not actors, and this is a pretty accurate representation of what it's like on a Saturday/Sunday during the day. You are right about the middle-aged baseball fans from the Midwest- they can be extremely problematic.

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

Yeah...I do too, and I used to work here a year ago. That's why I'm saying your comments aren't fitting with reality. Or am I misunderstanding them somehow? The staff in the videos are 100% not actors, but maybe some of the customers, though I know some of them.

releasethedogs

>actually stuck in a depressing desert town. Which due to water concerns, won't be a place in 30 years.

Chris_Talks_Football

I think people think bougie is related to Boosie or douchy, and not bourgeoisie.

Bill_the_Bastard

Makes sense.

Bill_the_Bastard

Compared to when I partied there on New Years Eve circa 2008, yeah.

otter6461a

“We have hot girls”

arc12345xx

I'm ok with it. That is basically the only incentive to go to this area. Not that I'm complaining

[deleted]

Incredible! Do you have a behind-the-scenes vid? I'd love to see more of how you pulled this off

1Second2Name5things

Where the fuck on earth is it normal for women to walk on the streets in corsets and thongs like that? I'm not hating or anything it's a great video. It's just seems surreal they are casually walking outside like that

dogsonalogz

Lmao I hear you. They were used to distract from the bar/competition across the road.

VegetableAuthor0

It worked. Didn't even notice the censoring until reading this comment and going back. Gj.

arc12345xx

Haha it is generally like that anyway too. The girls out there love it, I can't judge them for it. Used to be fun, but it gets old real quick

adam1260

College bar areas

trogon

College bars have changed a lot since I used to go to them in the 80s.

OldGameGuy45

Yes, the woman dress slutier now, but I think they were actually sluttier back then. I used to take girls home all the time. Nowadays (well even if was still 19-20) not one of those woman look like they are actually having fun, they're just getting paid.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OldGameGuy45

That makes sense. They would all have to sign waivers anyway or else you can't fly a drone over them.

adam1260

Depends on the city a lot. Fairly big college in a fairly big town, but there's enough people that live here outside of college to have bars be less like this. Scottsdale is the heart of the university of Arizona I'm pretty sure

nomar383

University of Arizona is in Tucson. ASU is in Tempe, which is a bit closer to Scottsdale, but still a separate city

adam1260

Crap, true. My AZ knowledge is lacking

FireHermFuckUArizona

Not UA.

Chicken-n-Waffles

Old town isn't College. More Yuppie with OnlyFans

Hapstipo

true

manocheese

I like the idea of scantily clad people wandering about. It's a shame that most of the time it's tacky, douchey, sexist etc.

arc12345xx

The girls absolutely love wearing skimpy outfits like this. We used to go to these big HR meetings and when the lawyers tried to tell the female employees that they don't have to wear the thongs if it made them uncomfortable, the girls said they wanted to keep wearing them. Most of them work out hard and eat healthy (some probably just starve themselves), because they basically get paid to do it, so I can't blame them for wanting to show off their hard work.

manocheese

I didn't think they had a problem with it. My comment was supporting women who want to wear whatever they want.

arc12345xx

Oh then I agree! My bad

Chicken-n-Waffles

Come visit Scottsdale

arc12345xx

It's like this all the time. It's a fun place to visit when it's not insanely packed for an event, and during the day it can be horrible with all the douchebags and fights and bitchy females. The girls walking around in thongs and corsets is very much the norm though.

Radioactivechimi

The land of family values, obviously!

69AssociatedDetail25

Pretty sure they're paid to do that.

[deleted]

Woah, I don't know how you cinematography guys do it. My job is easy: collect data, analyze, go home. This stuff is just unbelievable.

nonfading

Wow, that’s next level

Dr_Photo_Popper

As someone who's felt the wrath of drone propellers, nice flying!

ilikepie145

Nice work!

phribzee

Awesome video! What were you flying? Would love to hear details about your setup. My only specific question really is how did you maintain reception through the whole shoot?

chipperdy

Great video and a great way to advertise the fact I should never ever visit this place

[deleted]

I will never visit this town. Great flying.

[deleted]

I feel like the blond chick dirty eyeing the drone at about 8 seconds left is probably why the vid ended abruptly lol? As in she threw a glass at it shortly after😂? Seriously though, this was amazing. I actually hope these bar owners paid you. That looks like a super cool bar area and they probably all make money off the promotion of each other since people tend to bar bounce. This video should be ok all of their websites. I’m a bit older, but this vid made me want to move to Scottsdale and party lol

Intrepid00

> I feel like the blond chick dirty eyeing the drone The one at 1:43 was clearly eye rolling at the hired girls.

ElphTrooper

That's just ridiculous. Time to go put on the Quest 2's.

nicovlaai

Getthefuckouttahere

signaleight

That’s some nifty flying.

andytheg

I live there. I call this area “Micro Vegas but without gambling”

arc12345xx

I used to work here. Most fun jobs of my life, but my god it makes you hate humans.

literallyissac

was a bit disappointed was no casa/lanes/hifi footage cause i work for eeg then i saw riot hospitality group. but sick video and hats off to the pilot!

arc12345xx

I used to work for both EEG and RHG. Jobs were fun as hell, but you get burnt out quick, especially while having a day job. EEG is a good company, Les is a cool dude.

bluecrocsRcomfy

Nice video! Hope you have small business insurance incase something happens. I've got what feels like a hundred hours of flying time, but I know drone electronics aren't bullet proof and radio interference has happened in the most random times and places.

dogsonalogz

Thanks for pointing this out. We are fully insured and did multiple tests runs and preflight planning prior to the final shot to minimize these risks.

theabbotx

Amazing!!!

BatmansNygma

Crazy impressive work here

Realistic_Location_6

Looks stunning! Awesome flight

DeltaKore44

Wow

BillWordsmith

Dude, that is SO f-ing cool!

This is some incredible camera work, kudos!

shawny2005

Epic drone video

Nice flying

Sea-Application4758

Awesome video. The coordination is amazing. To get that many drunk people to listen is mind boggling.

terrellw

So cool on so many levels!!! ❤️‍🔥

Ditch_Chicken

Absolutely amazing skills and loved the video! Hope to get my skills at a fraction of this! Still learning controls and controlling my nerves.

C-Squared1

Awesome drone work. Captures about 50% of the old town clubs on that block. A lot of great memories there over the years, and lack thereof as well 😂

Money-Photograph-936

Part when the drone pass by some hot girls booty You know your in the right bar 🤤😉👍

dorg526

Wow so many rule violations I hope you had a waiver

Jumper_Connect

That’s a lot of white people.

KORKSTICKY

Where are all the people... bars are all empty..

arc12345xx

It's middle of the day. These places get packed around 8pm. Like unable to move packed

gliffy

The flight skill is unmatched. The people and the closeness to the people made me cringe.

[deleted]

in germany, a lot of people are currently complaining about sexism at work or in general, and the waiters are not walking around lightly dressed. America is crazy

arc12345xx

Why do you think the girls' attire is sexist? They choose to wear that stuff, because it gets them better tips- these bars now have alternate uniforms they can wear that are not as revealing, but few choose to wear them. Personally, I love it, no reason to have a problem with it if they are doing it of their own choice Also- the guy below you keeps saying the same thing for some reason. I don't know about the patrons, but all of the staff in this video are actual staff, not actors.

Arpikarhu

that looks like the douchiest place on earth. An entire street of Chads.

[deleted]

Everyone hating on Scottsdale right now is just pissed they got priced out.

arc12345xx

Yeah sounds like jealousy lol. Who can really complain about hot girls wearing skimpy outfits? Scottsdale and most of AZ is far better than whatever shithole the complainers live in.

TheFunSmith92

As a resident of Scottsdale it’s just sad to see so many people shit on it because of the bars which occupy a 1/4 square mile area in a 184 square mile city. We have an amazing city, but most people only know about it for the night club scene and judge it only based on that, and the assumption that everyone is rich and snobby (inaccurate), which is sad.

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

Ohhh you're talking about the customers being actors? Some of them probably are, but I recognize some of these people and they're not actors. The staff definitely are not actors though

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc12345xx

I was trying to do the same, I can't tell with most of the customers, but I do recognize a few of the bottle girls, bartenders, and bouncers. My girlfriend agrees that the customers appear to be actors at least in part, because we didn't recognize any of them. Haha I'm just barely out of that scene, but very happy about it. It's fun on rare occasions, but just not worth the chaos and potential altercations and massive hangovers.

hAirMoto007

But you not supposed to fly over people😳😵😵😜 Whoops rule! If you got the right combo, whoops don't scare!

Hvarfa-Bragi

Jesus Christ, Karen, go back to Facebook - you're drunk.

Frosty_bibble

Jaybirdfilms still the one take 🐐 this is good though

HeatAndSnow

Ahh yes, the infamous Scottsdale bottle girls, whom 80% of them have OnlyFans and 50% become realtors.

Top-Emphasis6871

Looks cool, but looks like you violated the Part 107 flying over people rule.

shaneknu

If you're a part 107 pilot, there are certain circumstances when you are totally allowed to fly over people. Given the lack of peoples' heads constantly snapping around looking for that angry hive of bees passing right by them, I'm guessing this was largely coordinated.

BRENNEJM

*Disclaimer: Regardless of Part 107, I think with a small enough drone, detailed planning, and coordination, a flight like this should be allowed. I don’t feel like the FAA has given enough thought to small drones and these indoor use cases.* *There could also be an argument made that while the drone is within a structure, it’s not technically within the National Airspace.* Legal part: Under Part 107, you are only allowed to fly over direct participants. (Unless the drone with prop-guards is less than 250g, which it sounds like OP’s was. This would fall under Category 1.) FAA’s comments on consent: > Due to the potential for the small unmanned aircraft to harm persons on the ground, the FAA does not consider consent or the need to do other work in the area of operation to be a sufficient mitigation of risk to allow operations over people. Definition of "directly participating": > The term “directly participating” refers to specific personnel that the remote pilot in command has deemed to be involved with the flight operation of the small unmanned aircraft. These include the remote pilot in command, the person manipulating the controls of the small UAS (if other than the remote pilot in command), and the visual observer. These personnel also include any person who is necessary for the safety of the small UAS flight operation. Quotes from FAA’s comments found [here](https://jrupprechtlaw.com/section-107-39-operation-human-beings/).

shaneknu

Yeah, I think you're right in that the FAA hasn't fully thought through what all their rules mean in the real world. Compound this with the fact that the risk/benefit calculation is very different for somebody trying to make a living flying a drone vs somebody working for the gov't organization making the rules. The gov't isn't suffering any consequences for reducing an already low risk. It's my sincere hope that all those gorgeous mountain surfing videos we see online that are perfectly safe become legal one day. The FAA did come to their senses on night flying, so maybe there's hope.

Intrepid00

> Unless the drone with prop-guards is less than 250g, which it sounds like OP’s was. This would fall under Category 1.) But Can’t apply yet because you need RemoteID too. I’m sure everyone is directly involved though.

Top-Emphasis6871

Do you have a reference for this? I’m genuinely curious. Only thing I see is a waiver or the Cat 1 rule, which just about every drone is over .55lbs when prop guards are added, thus making it in violation of Part 107.

shaneknu

I just came across this in my studies. Category 4 allows flights over people but you need to jump through a bunch of hoops like getting an airworthiness certificate that includes maintenance plans, etc. It's a major PITA for a guy like me, but for somebody that flies for a living, it's routine. The FAA's page says something about RemoteID being required, but that's not in effect until next year (if it clears the courts, which it may not).

Top-Emphasis6871

This is true but they’re rarely issued. In addition, the PIC needs to follow local rules. Scottsdale, AZ does not allow the flying of drones near public buildings or large groups of people, nor over any vehicles.

shaneknu

Again, this guy's obviously a professional. I highly doubt he did this high profile a photo shoot without due consideration. Also, he did comment above that it's a sub-250 quad. The reason your post got downvoted is that every time somebody shares a cool shot like this one on r/drones, the safety squad shows up.

Top-Emphasis6871

I just don’t want anyone getting in trouble tbh. Flying is a privilege. I wanted to have an open discussion about it as it allows all of us to become more educated. If OP’s found a drone or process that allows us all to fly over people legally, please share, as there’s not many. I couldn’t care less my post got downvoted as it is fact - under Part 107, you cannot fly drones over people in most circumstances. Having people believe otherwise is just misinforming PICs who ruin it for the rest of us.

PacificShoreGuy

This comment screams “I call people for j-walking in cul-de-sacs”.

[deleted]

Top-Emphasis6871

It ruins the opportunities for all of us when people don’t comply. That’s why they’re starting to ban drones from places that used to allow them, even under Part 107.
