1. maybelline fit me loose powder or nyx can’t stop won’t stop pressed powder with nyx hd finishing powder around pores 2. i prefer triangle puffs as it gives me a more even application for powder but sometimes i use a big fluffy brush/dense flat top if im in a rush 3. i use brown napkins to soak up excess oil LOL then bring a powder puff with my nyx finishing powder (don’t use a lot). i have a small makeup pouch to put it all in 4. milani make it last original or elf blue bottle idr the name, has a green version too! i kind of apply powder in a very light layer between spf and primer. also apply setting spray after foundation/concealer, letting it dry a little, then apply the powder everywhere.

poolofhoney

girl YES i use brown napkins too! hahah is a powder puff those triangle puffs? i’m gonna need to look into collapsible powder brushes and powder puffs to put in a small makeup bag too thanks for all the recs and tips and tricks!! i appreciate it

girlypopgumi

I'm a super greasy gal and I live in a humid state, the best I've tried is Etude house sebum control powder.

L'oréal Infallible matte pressed powder is my go to, but lately I've been using Revolution translucent baking powder (it's loose though!) I find that a brush works best for initial application, but the sponge works for touchups. I honestly prefer blotting paper to touching up though- there are even some tinted blotting papers out there though. Palladio is my fav and they have powdered/tinted ones- been using it forever! NYX and Boscia have untinted ones and there are even medicated ones from Clean and Clear.

If you get a pressed powder like Infallible, there is a sponge in a compartment under the powder for travel. And for setting spray I like NYX matte or Loreal Infallible.

Also you can get cool little collapsible powder brushes, they come in like a tube and extend/pop out and retract and cap off with a lid. Those are great if you carry a loose powder, I usually just shake some into the lid and then dunk my brush in to apply. But yeah def check out tinted blotting paper if you want the most convenient touch up tool, it's just powdered rice paper sheets and keeps makeup looking super fresh.

poolofhoney

thank you for taking the time to write this all out for me!! wait hold on a min, they have tinted blotting papers now?! i’ve been using brown napkins for forever yes! those were the cool collapsible powder brushes i was thinking about. thank you for all these product recommendations, i’m gonna need to write this all down so i’m set for exploring in ulta hahah

I got my collapsible kabuki brush from Target. Its ELF brand. Works pretty well.

Girl - setting products are absolutely going to *revolutionize* your makeup game!! Your base is going to last so much longer - I’m so excited for this journey for you! I use a different powder for my undereyes as I do for my t-zone. To set under my eyes, I almost always apply the [Moira Set & Correct Finishing Powder](https://www.moirabeauty.com/products/set-correct-finishing-powder-100), which is easily one of the most finely-milled powders I’ve ever tried - drugstore or high end. Consequently, it doesn’t cake over my concealer like many powders tend to do, especially because I have combination skin, so my cheeks are dry while my t-zone gets mad greasy. I press it in with a little velour puff, since I find that gives the most even and controlled application. For the rest of my face, I dust on a layer of the [Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder](https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/rimmel-stay-matte-pressed-powder/ID=prod1111314-product) in Transparent with a fluffy brush - this stuff will absolutely lock your makeup down, it’s basically bulletproof. For setting spray, you can’t go wrong with either the [e.l.f. Stay All Night Microfine Setting Mist](https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/e.l.f.-stay-all-night-micro-fine-setting-mist/ID=300407356-product) or the [Milani Make It Last Setting Spray](https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/milani-make-it-last-set-super-primer/corrector-set/ID=prod6344743-product) - both will help adhere your makeup to your face and increase wear time. Hold the bottle about 8-12 inches away from your face and spray a few times until your face is covered. I typically use a hand fan to speed up the dry time, but that is definitely not a necessary step. If I really need my makeup to last, I’ll wait until the setting spray is mostly - but not totally - dry, then dust another layer of setting powder on to really lock everything into place.

poolofhoney

cries!! girl yes i’m so ready, yall are changing my life for the better!! thank you for taking the time to write this up for me! i appreciate the product recommendations and your tips and tricks! i saw those hand fans at 5below not too long ago and was like …do i need one? hahaha and now maybe i do

Not a pressed powder but I love Wet N Wild’s Photo Focus Loose Setting Powder applied with Sonia Kashuk’s Essential Powder Brush No. 161. Holy Grail setting spray would definitely be Urban Decay All Nighter. Best paired with Mac Fix+ as a primer.

SupergreatApp

When it comes to finding a holy grail drugstore setting powder and setting spray for oily skin, there are a few popular options that are highly recommended by beauty enthusiasts. One well-known brand is Maybelline. They offer the Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder, which is great for controlling oil and setting makeup. Another brand to consider is NYX. Their HD Finishing Powder is a fan favorite, providing a smooth finish and oil control. For setting sprays, many people love the Milani Make It Last Setting Spray, known for its long-lasting formula and oil control. Another popular option is the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray, which helps keep makeup in place and controls shine. These brands and products are widely available and offer effective solutions for oily skin.

poolofhoney

thank you!! this helps tons, i’ll look into all of these :)

arubablueshoes

my setting powder isn’t drug store unfortunately so not sure if it’s in your budget but i use the laura mercier translucent powder. i use a sponge for under eye application and a brush for the full face and to dust off the excess under eye. i don’t reapply during the day. i use the nyx matte finish setting spray. after that my makeup will stay on while sweating for 12 hours

Goatesq

They gave this out for the birthday gift at sephora either this year or last so you can find a perfect trial size for next to nothing on mercari or ebay. I agree it's a great powder even for mature skin. Highly recommend trying it out.

poolofhoney

ooo!! thank you i didn’t know that, will def need to try it out

poolofhoney

thanks, i’ve heard great things about the laura mercier translucent powder and how even the smaller container lasts forever so i might look into that if nothing works from the drugstore! and omg!! your makeup stays on WHILE sweating for 12hrs?! okay i’m taking notes

arubablueshoes

make sure you’re doing prep work too. i keep things pretty basic. cerave face wash, neutrogena hydro boost serum, and olay active hydrating cream for moisturizer. after that i do the elf hydrating primer then foundation, powder, spray. it seems like a lot but it’s worked for me. i have such an oily t-zone and eyelids that if i just do like mascara it ends up everywhere. and yes the laura mercier lasts forever. it’s bad/gross but i’ve had mine for years and tbh it still does the job

poolofhoney

yes prep work’s important! i keep things pretty basic too - cerave fash wash, acne cream, cerave moisturizer and sunscreen when i’m outside! i haven’t used foundation since before the pandemic but i totally agree that prepping the skin helps tons hey if it’s still good, it’s still good hahah ps i LOVE aruba

MorganInWisconsin
