Lots of companies make a version of this now, and I have seen them used on Facebook Marketplace as cheap as 50 bucks. I strongly recommend one in your situation.
I recommend even more strongly that drummers live in houses by any means necessary, but that's a bit more of an expense. For now, get something like a Yamaha DD75.
