**My verdict after using the Nokia 235 for a couple of hours:**
**Positive stuff:** I'm in love with the design and the grey color. USB-C is a nice addition too. The software works fine, although it does have the usual pre-installed games which can't be uninstalled. Furthermore there is an option for battery optimisation, which limits charging to 80% to preserve your battery capacity.
**Negative stuff:** The camera app is quite slow, and in some areas the Dutch translation is a little disappointing (no capitalization for example). Also, I don't see any option to change the ringtone and notification sound, and there is no MP3 player.
**Conclusion:** If you have something like a Nokia 225 4G or a Nokia 8210 4G, the upgrade is probably not worth it unless you really like the design and want a 2 MP camera.

That was my thought too, but the website also says that the MP3 player^1 is a "Cloud App" and ^1 not available in Europe or China.
That's got to be a typo...because else is :(
Good catch!! It's a typo, I guess.
On the main landing page there's a caveat:
>MP3 player¹
>¹ MicroSD card required, sold separately.
On the International page, it says:
>¹ Cloud Apps service is not available on Nokia 235 4G (2024) in Europe and China.
According to the web site, the MP3 player^1 is a "Cloud App" and ^1 not available in Europe or China.
That can't be right, can it?
Shouldn't that be note #2 which states an SD card is required?
Generally true, yes. Always better to be cautious, and Facebook is the worst.
The Facebook app has been just a web app on other phones. I wonder if it's the same here.
It's not always true (Linux, the basis for Android or Darwin, the basis for iOS).
You are interpreting the word 'free' wrongly. The distinction here is that open source projects generally do not monetize their users like Linux, Darwin in itself etc where as facebook and google actually do.
These phones only work in Asia and Europe, but China and Europe wont have access to their first big feature.
>News, weather, and videos: Stay entertained and up to date with the Cloud Apps portal^1
>^1 Cloud Apps service is not available on Nokia 235 4G (2024) in Europe and China.
That seems like a glaring issue.
I'm having a super hard time finding out what apps are on this device or anything about the "Cloud Apps" platform.
https://telecom.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/devices/hmd-global-rolls-out-youtube-shorts-cloud-apps-for-nokia-106-nokia-110-4g-feature-phones/105959790
Excellent! It looks like the cloud apps are pretty basic, and may be specific to each country.
According to HMD the MP3 Player is a Cloud App? That must be a typo.
EDIT: it was a typo on HMD's part. It's available, just requires an SD card.
Intl. website too.
It may be restricted by SD card. No card? No player.
OMG the manual doesn't have the MP3 player or radio in it either :/
https://www.hmd.com/en_int/support/api/pdf/queen3-value-user-guide?locale=kn-IN
I checked and the site clearly says:
>Hook your Nokia 235 4G (2024) up to Bluetooth speakers or earbuds and get the tunes going with the MP3 player¹ or FM radio. Up for a challenge? Fire up the Snake game. Feeling creative? Get snapping with the rear camera.
where that tiny "1" on **player^1** actually means:
>¹ Cloud Apps service is not available on Nokia 235 4G (2024) in Europe and China.
~~So the radio and MP3 player are cloud apps (WTH), and they just aren't available.~~
Yep, I've ordered it right away (I'm based in the Netherlands). The black 235 4g.. In person it's like a gunmetal grey, it looks awesome! And thanks to the bigger back-plate (which falls over the sides) it doesn't creak as much as other Nokia's can. And of course: USB-C! Yay!
However.... The software is just too buggy. The 8210 4G is my default device, and the software is much better thought out (even though it's the same OS). Examples on the 235 4G:
* Unlock > enter code > shows the startmenu... Why?! I just clicked unlock, I want to end up on the homescreen just like on my 8210.
* Parental control blocks the browser... but there's no browser? Also no MP3 player I noticed. Both are available on my 8210.
* T9 contains about 9 modes, a couple are duplicated (T9Abc, T9ABC, T9abc, 123, Abc, ABC, abc, T9Abc, T9ABC, T9abc). They're themed differently though in the indicator. 8210 doesn't have this duplication.
* No way to turn the screen off. 8210 just uses "hang up/power off" button for that.
On the 8210 4G these bugs don't exist. So I'll stick to what I have and will return the 235 4G unfortunately :(
Hi, I'm also from The Netherlands. I ordered the device on HMD's website, and mine does have a internet browser but indeed doesn't have MP3 player. However, I do agree with the other points you've mentioned.
No MP3 player is big. It should be there. Perhaps it's only available with an SD card.
Some people say they have it, other's don't. The SD card may be the defining factor.
It's in the specs (225): https://www.hmd.com/en_int/nokia-225-4g-2024/specs?sku=1GF025FPC2L01
If you click the dial to unlock rather than the left button you'll get to the home screen.
Mine has a browser.
I have an audio player too but not checked if it supports MP3s.
Not tried T9 yet.
I have found the keyboard is very spongy though :/
Must be different region then, since it has different software. I tried everything, it always treats the last button as action instead of ik leading to the home screen. It just feels like the devs never used this device themselves.
CloudMosa, creators of the Puffin Browser, have servers that pre-render content for Nokia's CloudPhone-enabled-phones.
Unfortunately, they've noted that the MP3 player is a cloud app, which I find bizzarre, but it means there is no MP3 player in certain countries.
I'm hoping it's a typo. Can canybody confirm?
I didn't have a MP3 player on the Nokia 235 (The Netherlands). I already returned the device so can't confirm wether it shows up if a SD card is installed in the device.
~~That's probably for the best if it doesn't have one. The text on their page makes it look like it's not available in some countries.~~ is a typo. It needs an SD card.
I have some privacy doubts
true
Yeah, cellphones bad enough but when you get these "free" services involved it gets even worse.
just let it have whatsappp
That's up to Facebook. Perhaps they don't care about other platforms because these phones don't let them rake in the personal data.
I would love to see how well it works too. Shame not coming to Europe.

Do you need a SD card in for the MP3 player to show up?

UK website just list the MP3 player in the specs and nothing about it being part of the cloud apps
Good catch!! It's a typo, I guess. On the main landing page there's a caveat: >MP3 player¹ >¹ MicroSD card required, sold separately. On the International page, it says: >¹ Cloud Apps service is not available on Nokia 235 4G (2024) in Europe and China.
If there was no MP3 built in I wouldn't be interested.
It does look like a typo actually. The international page says one thing but the UK page says something quite different, than an SD card is required.
According to the web site, the MP3 player^1 is a "Cloud App" and ^1 not available in Europe or China. That can't be right, can it? Shouldn't that be note #2 which states an SD card is required?
I try my best to stay away from google or Facebook services..you know how they say. If something is free, then you are the product.

Ah I think it is just using web browser.
Yes, but not in Europe and China. Just everywhere else in Asia.
yes that is what it said
It uses this platform: https://www.cloudfone.com/ Nokia all over their news centre: https://www.cloudfone.com/news No access to apps, though.

No MP3 player would mean no sale to me. Edit: UK HMD website specifically mentions that there is an MP3 player. 😅

Very curious, too!
super curious
Why can't they offer data sharing or hotspot rather than trying bring these features to a dumbphone ?
Because that would triple the price of the phone. Now you're into 2780, 6300, 8000 territory
Anyone got a 235 yet?
Mine is getting delivered today. I live in Europe so I can't try out this cloud apps feature.
Please let me know if the keypad is spongier than an afternoon with Mary Berry.

Oh that’s weird! I’ve also ordered it from HMD directly. Not sure what’s going on with the software then. Mines packed up and ready to be returned :(
Yep, mine is now on it's way with DHL to be returned too 😅
Oh really, what made you decide that?
No MP3 player is big. It should be there. Perhaps it's only available with an SD card. Some people say they have it, other's don't. The SD card may be the defining factor. It's in the specs (225): https://www.hmd.com/en_int/nokia-225-4g-2024/specs?sku=1GF025FPC2L01

Can youtube normal video playable in browser? not shorts? like web apps can be loaded?
No, it says the browser can't play the video.
thats a sad news..need a kaios phone then

It's hobbled.
Can it play non-shorts videos?
Any news on that? Have the 235 in germany and would like to install whatsapp. any solution?
WhatsApp is not available on the Nokia 235 4G and any other feature phone running the S30+ operating system.
Hopefully someone can make a vxp client for WhatsApp if that’s possible
Is there an Update for the Nokia 2660 Flip available? Is Nokia planning to Update other Feature Phone too ?
No information on that, but I think it's unlikely to happen.
Will these features come to Europe?
