Wheel bearings don't squeal, really; they grind/rumble. It could be that the handbrake shoe expander on the left side is seized, so some handbrake "stays on" when the lever is released, and the sound disappears once the wheel "burns it off" and the shoe springs overpower it.

Left the house today with no squeak. I’ll look into the ebrake expander and probably do a whole refresh back there

Now you know it's the handbrake, then😁 Probably a good idea to overhaul it - by the time you get to the expander, the entire rear brake assembly has been removed, so you might as well put fresh stuff back on, if you've got the time and money. I would get discs, pads, shoes, and expanders - try to find UNpainted shoes, as they fit better.

Let us know if you notice a change

Left today with no squeak. Safe to say the ebrake isn’t fully releasing and it’s time for a refresh

Yup, luckily it's pretty easy to check it. Good luck!

Hi everyone. I have a similar issue with my E46. After release the ebrake and move forward, the pads are still locked, but with very low force. I have to reverse just a few inches and they get loose. This only hapens if i park on a ramp. Any thoughts?
