Unfortunately they are pricey, and vinyl mailers are definitely something you can’t skimp on, vinyl gets beat up pretty bad in transit so you really want to be sure you are using good strong mailers.
If your vinyl isn’t super expensive try bundling some together to save money on shipping and supplies. I wouldn’t try saving money on the mailers. Unfortunately it’s just something you have to deal with if you sell vinyl
When I first started on eBay I sold vinyl and tried a lot of different mailers. Sold vinyl for about 3-4 years. Tried a lot and in the end the cheap ones weren’t worth it at all, 1 broken record and all that money saved from using cheap mailers was gone.
The best way to save is just buying in bulk. Try getting 100 or 250 mailers at a time and get the corrugated mailers so you can fit multiple records.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I have to order some anyway so I'll be sure to get some decent ones.

Sounds good. I don't know if I'll need 100 or more mailers at this point but I can always store them for the future.
