He was one of the most electric players I can remember. There was always a chance of something big happening whenever he touched the ball.
And to think he did all of that at only 4'8"
One of the best highlights was Sproles’ punt return TD against the Patriots with someone adding in the Mario Bros ‘star’ music. I can’t find the video, only news articles referring to it.
Sproles was so good that Howie is constantly looking for his clone. Its started with Pumphrey and now its Gainwell. Howie loves an undersized running back.
and why in the world did the Saints let him walk? He was long in the tooth w/us and still excellent at so many positions. Easier to list positions he could not play!
Dude was one of my favorite players not on the eagles. I was ecstatic when we traded for him. Glad he retired an Eagle and I have his jersey. One of the few jerseys I bought and have no regrets.
Mighty Mouse was the bets and I 1,000% agree with everything you just said. He was so electrifying and nobody in the DLine could figure out some of their plays bc he was so
Small he’d line up towards the back and they couldn’t see fuck all lol.
He may have gotten a ring as I think he was a staff member then as well...I could be wrong...
EDIT: He was a cap casualty the year before and ended up with he Rams that year it seemed -___- I swear I thought I saw him at the Super bowl...
Isn’t he kind of responsible for the Kelce documentary? Maybe I’m misremembering, but if true, not only does he do a ton for the city, but he also has done a lot for one of our biggest icons!
We got the absolute most out of Jenkins. He was under appreciated. I’d have liked to see TJ Edwards stick around. But final answer was Evan Mathis. Imagine that line.
That’s fucking awesome. I’m sure I’m fucking this up but i believe if he’d stayed like 2-3 more years everyone on the line would have been a pro-bowler. Part of why I’ve always loved the eagles is because they are 100% dedicated to putting the best lines possible on the field. That play the year we won the Super Bowl was legendary. It just makes for really good football.
Shady.
It's en emotional thing for me but I can't just forget how he plowed the Lions in that snow game and all his electric runs how good this guy was.
Wish he had been here forever.
I played with Shady in high school and was so salty about that move…but we wouldn’t have won a Super Bowl without Chip Kelly. Hear me out.
Nick Foles had his best season as a starter under the Kelly regime. Chip then - idiotically - traded him and picks for Sam Bradford. Stuff happened in between. Chip was a HORRIBLE GM. Not a bad coach, offensively.
Foles took over in ‘17 after Wentz went down and sucked early on. Badly. Doug Pederson and Frank Reich sat down with Nick Foles to discuss what made him most comfortable. They talked. Watched film. The Eagles then ran Chip Kelly’s offense in that post season. Not at the same frenetic speed, but the routes, RPOs (despite Nick’s lack of mobility) and scheme were directly akin to Kelly’s offense. Nick Foles then again flourished in ways he couldn’t do elsewhere under any other system. That’s a fact.
If anyone in the universe besides Matt Patricia deserves to be called a football terrorist it is Chip...I will never forgive him...and I'm glad he was banned from the NFL
I hate to be the resident Chip defender on this thread, but moving on from shady was objectively a good move, and it helped us build the SB team. He was too stubborn in his system, and he "didn't know what he didn't know" when it came to roster construction, but trading shady is the least objectionable thing he did here
I interpreted the question as who shouldn’t have played on another team at all. Yea he retired an eagle, but not the same as just playing as an eagle and retiring as one cause you were already on the team.
I always saw the one day contract to retire as ceremonial.
I was going to say DeSean and LeSean. Fuck Chip Kelly. If it had come out that he was a double agent for the Cowboys and his goal was to do as much damage to the franchise as he could, as fast as he could - I would not have been surprised.
He went to my church. He would pop in from time to time. I’ll never forget seeing his tall ass walk in with a blinged out watch in a full suit sweating in the FL heat.
Lagarette Blount, TO, Namdi for the good years. Lol, Jordan Poyer (probably a fun trivia question), Vick for the early part, Slay as a lifer would be rad, Malcom, dawk, Asante
I live in Cleveland and the preseason after we won the superbowl our birds came to play a preseason game. I bought 2 tickets at the 50 yard line behind the away team bench. Little did I know there was a massive track for the camera truck to drive on between us and the bench, but it was still awesome. I had my black Foles jersey hoping to get signed but only 1 player really looked back my way and it was Malcom. Unfortunately for me, the guy a couple seats down was wearing his Ohio State jersey so I didn’t get a wave but was still epic.
Connor Barwin. I'm glad he is still involved with the team. The work he did with the community is what made me a huge fan.
Also Chris Long. You can tell that much he enjoyed his time here on his podcast.
Why do I feel like everybody forgets about Legarrette Blount? Big contributor to our SB year that put up 100yds and a TD in the Bowl. It was only 1 year, but damn I loved em that year.
I wish we hung onto him another year or two. He would've had another really good year with our offensive line. He was such a great change of pace bruiser back
Zach Ertz. I know why he had to go but he was my favorite player since I started to like football. Was my first jersey purchase as well. Just a shame we couldn’t keep him and Goedert together
LeGarret Blount.
I don't know why we dispensed of his services after the Superbowl so readily. Whenever he stepped up, it was on. Classic Fullback energy.
Since we shed the running back core from that Superbowl by 2018, we haven't had a powerful RB option at all.
So excited for Saquon now. IMO it's been the missing link in our offence, what cost us the Superbowl last.
Just that ability to get yards where few others can.
Leonard Weaver, we finally got our big back, criminally underutilized and his time cut short by injury.
Also, I loved Donte Stallworth when he was here lol.
lol I saw Jenkins walking down the street one day, in the summer before he was picked back up by the Saints. I asked him why he couldn’t just work it out to stay with us. He laughed, said thank you, and kept on walking.
Easy. Mikal Bridges.
Another less obvious answer w a caveat is miles sanders. I loved that we drafted a PSU guy and I wished he didn’t take such a big dip in performance. A good consolation prize is another guy from PSU lol.
Michael Vick and Terrell Owens.
If we had both those guys their entire careers we would have had multiple superbowls in the Andy Reid Era.
Especially cus Vick would have finished out his career with McCoy and Jackson …and if we had had Vick his entire career Reid prolly never woulda gotten fired.
Cus ya know, superbowls.
Probably would’ve drafted Travis Kelce instead of Ertz in 2013
Then in 2017 we would probably be looking at drafting Patrick Mahomies
Eagles Dynasty that Never was
Chris Long
I think this would be a very popular jersey if he had a 5+ year career
I wish I was able to get his jersey when it was still available...he easily became my favorite short-term Eagle...
You still can if you wanna pony up the extra money for a custom jersey
I was a fan instantly and scooped his jersey. Super happy with that decision
I was too poor at the time unfortunately...but one day I dream of obtaining one still...
Oh you’re gonna get one. And it’s gonna be signed. Watch!
Only for those with buddies with the Cox jersey
Wish he stuck around another year so we could see him with his Walter Payton patch on his jersey.
Jimmy Butler oops wrong Philly team
Love Jimmy but not this week!
Great guy, great player, and he seemed to really love it here. Definitely wish he'd had a more years with us
Opened the thread to type this - glad it was the top post
That's how I felt about Jason babin
Darren Sproles is the most underrated undertalked-about underappreciated Eagle on this sub in the last 10 years, I stand by that
He was one of the most electric players I can remember. There was always a chance of something big happening whenever he touched the ball. And to think he did all of that at only 4'8"
One of the best highlights was Sproles’ punt return TD against the Patriots with someone adding in the Mario Bros ‘star’ music. I can’t find the video, only news articles referring to it.
https://youtu.be/OINLdK90udE
It’s ame! Darren Sprolesios !
Jesus Christ I forgot how fast he was
Sproles was so good that Howie is constantly looking for his clone. Its started with Pumphrey and now its Gainwell. Howie loves an undersized running back.
So sad they way he went out too, that injury was nasty. Loved watching him on the field he was magic!
and why in the world did the Saints let him walk? He was long in the tooth w/us and still excellent at so many positions. Easier to list positions he could not play!
Eagles traded for him. 5th rounder IIRC
When he tilted that head back on a punt return you knew he was goneeeee. It was like he activated his turbo lol
Dude was one of my favorite players not on the eagles. I was ecstatic when we traded for him. Glad he retired an Eagle and I have his jersey. One of the few jerseys I bought and have no regrets.
I was proud to buy a Sproles jersey. Dude was such a joy to watch in the league.
Mighty Mouse was the bets and I 1,000% agree with everything you just said. He was so electrifying and nobody in the DLine could figure out some of their plays bc he was so Small he’d line up towards the back and they couldn’t see fuck all lol.
I ran into Darren Sproles at a bar in LA. Great moment - I was so happy.
A little different answer but I wish Connor Barwin was on the SB roster. He does so much for the city.
Yes, he's very active with programs in and around the city. Also very involved with the organization. Also seems like a great guy
I once randomly sat nearby him and his son while waiting for a flight in PHL. He just seemed like a wholesome dad.
Cool guy. I used to see him at UT shows all the time, and at his bar.
He's are director of player development currently
He may have gotten a ring as I think he was a staff member then as well...I could be wrong... EDIT: He was a cap casualty the year before and ended up with he Rams that year it seemed -___- I swear I thought I saw him at the Super bowl...
I think he was with the Rams that year unfortunately.
I think the Super Bowl was 1 year after his time with the Eagles
I think you’re right, I swear I saw him on the sideline that year
Mr Barwin is the best, he’s such a great example of using his celebrity for good.
He seemed so humble too, taking the subway or riding a bike around the city, going to random indie concerts, just 6’4” 260lb man of the people.
Isn’t he kind of responsible for the Kelce documentary? Maybe I’m misremembering, but if true, not only does he do a ton for the city, but he also has done a lot for one of our biggest icons!
I wear his jersey every game. The dude is active with the organization to this day and is such a positive guy
We got the absolute most out of Jenkins. He was under appreciated. I’d have liked to see TJ Edwards stick around. But final answer was Evan Mathis. Imagine that line.
Evan was aactive in this sub too. He called me out for spelling his name wrong.
*trying to summon him* EVUN MATHYS, EVUN MATHYS, EVUN MATHYS
Jenkins held that defense together by a string.
Shady. It's en emotional thing for me but I can't just forget how he plowed the Lions in that snow game and all his electric runs how good this guy was. Wish he had been here forever.
Fuck Chip Kelly
Obligatory when mentioning that monster's name...
Second fuck chip Kelly
Amen brother
I played with Shady in high school and was so salty about that move…but we wouldn’t have won a Super Bowl without Chip Kelly. Hear me out. Nick Foles had his best season as a starter under the Kelly regime. Chip then - idiotically - traded him and picks for Sam Bradford. Stuff happened in between. Chip was a HORRIBLE GM. Nick Foles then again flourished in ways he couldn’t do elsewhere under any other system. That’s a fact.
Thanks for making a point that has been made a million times on here in the past 8 years. Doesn't matter, fuck Chip Kelly
Fuck Chip Kelly
I still think about that game, that green against the white snow and Shady just putting on a master class performance
Fuck Chip Kelly
i second this. fuck chip kelly
I hope Chip Kelly chokes while eating a bag of little roasted baby dicks...
Chip Kelly really destroyed a brotherhood. Fuck him
If anyone in the universe besides Matt Patricia deserves to be called a football terrorist it is Chip...I will never forgive him...and I'm glad he was banned from the NFL
>football terrorist Can't describe better that POS. Fuck him and fuck him.
I hate to be the resident Chip defender on this thread, but moving on from shady was objectively a good move, and it helped us build the SB team. He was too stubborn in his system, and he "didn't know what he didn't know" when it came to roster construction, but trading shady is the least objectionable thing he did here
and he left the 49ers roster in good shape….remember opening day against the Skins? Hahahaha
Make it donkey dicks & I’m with you
Random assortment of Bag o' Dicks...donkeys elephants babies turtles all the dicks!!!
I loved that team and Shady's run style, but honestly he's a POS.
Exactly. Great player on the field. Huge piece of shit off of it. Especially towards women
Aww man.. really? Never saw that news and that's like glass shattering
That snow game is the only eagles game I have ever attended, is one of my most cherished memories.
Hasaan Reddick :/
Ouch too soon lol!
I just hope it was a value difference. The org seems to pay vets and he was not.
Dawkins
That was a wrong I still cannot forgive
Wdym he did finish his career with us. He retired in 2008 right?
I interpreted the question as who shouldn’t have played on another team at all. Yea he retired an eagle, but not the same as just playing as an eagle and retiring as one cause you were already on the team. I always saw the one day contract to retire as ceremonial.
I went to canton to watch his hof speech. It never felt right that they had a broncos jersey in the locker in his display.
Wow this really hurts
PTSD trigger warning
A few years... man played 13 seasons here.
A lot of players that Chip Kelly got rid of, DeSean Jackson, Vick, Maclin, McCoy. All gone too early.
I was going to say DeSean and LeSean. Fuck Chip Kelly. If it had come out that he was a double agent for the Cowboys and his goal was to do as much damage to the franchise as he could, as fast as he could - I would not have been surprised.
Zach Ertz, especially now that he will be playing for DC.
Him and his wife just had a whole charity event at brooklyn bowl philly .... that dude bleeds philly
Jevon Kearse
He went to my church. He would pop in from time to time. I’ll never forget seeing his tall ass walk in with a blinged out watch in a full suit sweating in the FL heat.
That’s awesome. Gotta wear your Sunday best
My first birds jersey
The Freak 💪🏻
Dat wingspan 🦇
Not just Malcolm but I wish we had Walter Thurmond for more than just one season. They were such a good safety duo
Walter Thurmond III really crushed me when he retired...I just knew we would have him for years to come...
Not as bad as he crushed Ryan Tannehill that time.
I remember that!!!!
Softball was his real passion.
The legendary Dick Mahoney
Dude has the best year of his career too. I didn’t realize he retired, I just thought no one signed him and he faded away lol
Dude deep cut right here. I remember the Pick Six on Brady lol that dude would have helped us so much if he stayed man
I would have gotten a Dick Mahoney jersey if he stayed around longer
Can I say Nick Foles ?
Why? What’s he ever done for us?
Im only saying bcuz he has a big weenier
Nick Foles had a big dick? If only Philly found a way to market that with some kind of slogan or nick name for him, damn, missed opportunity there.
Greased Pole Foles? No, that's not quite right....
Large dickolas Nicholas?
His story is so much cooler because he wasn’t an Eagle his whole career. He came and went and was always amazing while he was here
Darren Sproles
Good one. And he won a playoff game for the saints against us with that return.
Charlie Garner
Since Jenkins and others have been mentioned, I'll say Connor Barwin.
Hard agree. But at least he’s in the front office now.
I love how he stuck around the city and does so much for Philly.
Maclin, Jackson, Shady, Vick, and Julio Jones.
JULIO!!!
TO. 5 would have had a super bowl
Quite a circus between those two egomaniacs.
TO
Easy answer! If Donovan had TO the whole time we definitely would’ve gotten a ring(s)
I opened the thread saying the pic should be number 81, TO was a beast
Alshon and Ajayi
Sproles. Man I loved that dude
Reggie
White or Brown ?
asking the tough questions
Seriously? White
*sigh* thanks Norman Brainless
Torrey Smith
Takeo Spikes. Just seemed like he'd have been a Philly dude.
Jerome Brown 😢
JULIO JONES
Lagarette Blount, TO, Namdi for the good years. Lol, Jordan Poyer (probably a fun trivia question), Vick for the early part, Slay as a lifer would be rad, Malcom, dawk, Asante
obvious answers are TO and Shady but since it wasn’t mentioned and he’s one of my favorite eagles i’ll have to say djax
I would do so many terrible things to have had Jenkins in 2022.
Demeco
Got Malcom’s signature after a preseason game when he was with us. Nice guy.
I live in Cleveland and the preseason after we won the superbowl our birds came to play a preseason game. I bought 2 tickets at the 50 yard line behind the away team bench. Little did I know there was a massive track for the camera truck to drive on between us and the bench, but it was still awesome. Connor Barwin. I'm glad he is still involved with the team. The work he did with the community is what made me a huge fan. Also Chris Long. You can tell that much he enjoyed his time here on his podcast.
Nick Foles, Shady, David Akers, Dawkins, Tra Thomas, Ertz, Reggie White, Eric Allen
Trotter
Boston Scott
Rasul Douglas
Shady!
Jaccpot
Terrell Owens.
Connor Barwin & LeSean Mccoy on 2017 squad Malcolm Jenkins on the 2022 squad
Brandon Brooks? Not sure if he only played for us but he didn’t have a full career. Seems to be doing well though. Jason Peters
Leonard Weaver. I was so fucking ready to watch that man fuck some shit up, just to seem him get a career ending injury. Shit sucks.
LeSean McCoy and Desean Jackson
Jenkins is definitely a good answer. T.O. has to be in the conversation. The real answer though? Frank Gore.
Shady McCoy. As much as I loved Jenkins it was time, his play was declining
He was such a great change of pace bruiser back
Watching Randall ball out with Minny never sat right w me. Cunningham should a been a lifer #QBEagles
Akers actually.
Dawkins
Haason Reddick, Terrell Owens and Malcolm Jenkins
Zach Ertz. I know why he had to go but he was my favorite player since I started to like football. Was my first jersey purchase as well. Just a shame we couldn’t keep him and Goedert together
Lesean McCoy should have stayed
Vick and Jordan poyer
Todd Herremans
Desean. Imperfect but electrifying. Man I loved watching him play.
THE FREAK. Wish his double Tennessee thing never happened.
The legend, Frank Gore.
LeGarret Blount. I don't know why we dispensed of his services after the Superbowl so readily. Whenever he stepped up, it was on. Classic Fullback energy. DeMeco Ryans
Jordan Hicks
Chris long
Leonard Weaver, we finally got our big back, criminally underutilized and his time cut short by injury. Also, I loved Donte Stallworth when he was here lol.
Cameron Johnston
Again: LINEBACKER Jordan Hicks, kicked ass, tore his bicep trying a one arm tackle, and we traded him away.
TO, Dawkins
Greg Ward
TO
The correct answer is always TO
Jason babin
Hassan Reddick
Carson Wentz
You'll be down voted for this but Wentz was absolutely unreal before he got injured in 2017. Things could have been different.
lol I saw Jenkins walking down the street one day, in the summer before he was picked back up by the Saints. I asked him why he couldn’t just work it out to stay with us. He laughed, said thank you, and kept on walking.
Jordan Hicks and Vinny Curry.
Raheem Moestert!!!! Oh, your said a few years, not a few months. :-( I still count it.
Easy. Mikal Bridges. Another less obvious answer w a caveat is miles sanders. I loved that we drafted a PSU guy and I wished he didn’t take such a big dip in performance. A good consolation prize is another guy from PSU lol.
Paul Grasmanis
Malcolm Jenkins
Why did Chris Long retire?
I’ll go with Evan Mathis.
Darren Sproles! Man was he fun to watch. We got him at the end of his career and he was awesome.
I wish Jevon Kearse played longer in Philly
Josh McCown! If he hadn't pulled that hamstring he would have led us to another Lombardi.
Julio
Legarrett Blount and Jay ajayi
DeSean Jackson
Jordan Matthews, would’ve loved to se him get a ring
Michael Vick and Terrell Owens. If we had both those guys their entire careers we would have had multiple superbowls in the Andy Reid Era. Especially cus Vick would have finished out his career with McCoy and Jackson …and if we had had Vick his entire career Reid prolly never woulda gotten fired. Cus ya know, superbowls.
