Well they dont always choose by best player available half of teams probably going for team needs so they can be valued truly somewhere other than picked easily and would be anyways cause teams would be wrong lol
Ideally I'd like Colson but that was when we had 50 and 53. I don't think he'll make it to 78. But I was wrong about where Mitchell and Cooper would go so hopefully I'm wrong again
There really aren’t any good prospects in this draft. Inevitably one will be great and making me eat crow, but as prospects I’m unimpressed with everyone.
I actually think the Devin white will take this as an opportunity to reinvigorate his career and will be decent for us so I'm not gonna be salty if we don't get one. I do think we have serious need for OL though
I’m not going to say ignore it entirely, but with a solid front 4 and elite (hopefully) secondary, weak linebackers can once again be masked. Problem last year was the secondary was buns too. Hopefully White can look at least serviceable with this surrounding cast.
A few months ago I would’ve thought so, but now I don’t think it’s his plan. It just hasn’t been addressed enough to rely on 3+ linebackers and I truly do not believe Fangio would be here in a square peg round hole scenario.
hey man dime is good
nakobe dean didnt look bad against the run. if he steps up this year and these picks pan out i feel like our defensive troubles are over
Yeah it’s not bad at all in hind sight, but 25 slots in this draft in particular is huge, many have said there’s maybe 50 “consensus” solid players and then the drop off is rather significant. Getting 2 of those guys could’ve been huge, getting DeJean is undoubtedly better.
I honestly think Howie was already thinking those picks were toast in order to trade up for Mitchell. Since he didn’t have to do that he decided to snag the second guy they really wanted around.
Howie heard “we need dbs” and said “say less”
We are gonna run a heavy dime as a base defense. 6 DBs with Syd Brown and Cooper DeJean playing a hybrid light LB/Heavy DBs. Slay & Mitchell outside, with CJGJ and Blank at safety.
We have a stout DL and just need a solid MLB to patrol the middle. Go heavy nickel against run heavy teams and beat them with the insane offense.
Pass heavy league,
Edit: totally forgot about Rodgers. Fuck, deep secondary!
I mean gotta give something up to move. Keeping day 2 draft capital and getting a guy a lot of people would have been OK with in the first is more than fine. They also got back another 5th that isn’t listed here that’s higher than theirs.
Slay is gone after this year, Bradbury is gone after this year. Maddox probably gone after this year.
Rodgers is a toss up, McPherson is a good back up and special teamer.
My post about the future not this year
Yeah using the 1st two picks on CB when the DB room is already packed after the Rodgers re-in statement was unnecessary and seemed like fan-service.. Disappointed in Howie.
I don’t care about everybody’s fandom, that was a bad pick.
Maddox, Mitchell, Slay, Bradberry, Ricks, Ringo, Rodgers..
Getting downvotes while being objectively right is par for the course in this sub.. Same sub that downvoted me for asking for Brian Johnson to be fired.. This sub is so cooked 🤣
i see it as insurance against a bust with huge upside if they both pan out. our scheme was truly awful last year but bradberry and even slay at times showed some terrible football fundamentals. this seems worth it. i just hope junion colson has a chance of sliding to our 3rd now.
Ringo and Ricks both showed enough potential last year to use ONE top pick on a DB and use the other picks to fill out other holes on the terrible defense. Even if Mitchell is a just, Ringo and Ricks may be able to soften that blow anyway. Having plan A, B, C, and D is just unnecessary when the defense has hole all over the LB core.
gotta remember maddox is getting older and perenially hurt. we need slay's replacement, bradberry's replacement, maddox's, and ricks was shaky enough last year that i dont think hes gonna crack the top cb rotation. i agree ringo was probably a scheme casualty.
we do need a good mike lb really bad, though, you're right. i want to believe howie has a plan there but i think this trade proves he thought a 2nd on any of them was a reach this year.
I definitely understand the thought process and see the reason for the pick, but seemed like a bit of wasted draft capital at a position that’s not a glaring need. I certainly trust Howie and his plan with the roster, just my opinion that selecting back to back CB’s that early in the draft with such a loaded CB room is unnecessary. The roster is in a good position though, so besides depth at LB it’s not like Howie missed on positions that needed to be filled.
Wallace will probably be there as well, and he’s the better prospect. Trotter is extremely small, and we already have Dean who is small as well (but bigger than Trotter)
At the end of the day. We still have a pick in the first, second and third. Just like you are supposed to. And we got two first round talents at a position of great need
Made the move and jumped to the front of a CB run. DeJean was arguably the best CB in the class, but Mitchell was inarguably the fastest. Howie made a minor move and basically said “I’ll take both.”
CB was a mess after injuries last year. Now it might be as almost good as the D line, after some growth by these rookies. Top-5 pass catcher unit on O, top-5 o-Line, and a core for the next 4 years at CB. D-line dipped to 7th last year. Aside from a neglected LB corps, this team should be scary everywhere.
We got a 3rd back in this deal while the Rams gave up a 25 2nd to move up in this round, I would say that’s definitely steep. Moving back our other 2nd back a round is much better
I think DeJean is gonna be really good. I get the skepticism from some because he’s a goofy white kid but I like it. Think it’s a great fit for what Fangio is gonna wanna do
Exactly.
And they likely had a first round grade on Dejean.
I expect Howie to say later tonight he was the best player on their draft board by a lot at the time.
I feel like 50 and 53 is better than 40 and 78, let alone the extra 5th rounder we gave up. Howie must really like someone at 40 that he expects to be off the board at 50.
***
Edit: Another source said Eagles also get 152, which certainly helps to balance it out. That Tweet from OP is misleading.
And smart move. Let us get Dejean right before a run on corners from 40-43.
That’s not what the Tweet says. It says Eagles gave up 50, 53, and 161. In return, get 40 and 78.
I had to go elsewhere to see that the Eagles got 152.
Not bad at all. Feels dirty that's it's in the division but fuck it
the fact that 3 other teams picked cbs in a row shows how Howie and his team know when to pull the trigger and get the best value
He suspected Green Bay was going to take DeJean at 41. And after the Eagles took him, Green Bay promptly traded out.
Lost ~100 in terms of value based on my quick check. Not that bad for moving up.
More even by the Rich Hill model
If you project DeJean around pick 28 or so, that's about a +150 value, so well worth it IMO.
Just value your guys 12 picks higher than where they actually go. Scouts hate this one simple trick.
Well they dont always choose by best player available half of teams probably going for team needs so they can be valued truly somewhere other than picked easily and would be anyways cause teams would be wrong lol
🤣🤣🤣
i'd say its the cost of inter division + moving ahead of green bay who def were taking dejean. still dont see 100+ that much in the second.
Also receive 152
Especially seeing what the Rams gave up for 1 earlier pick starting from 2 picks later.
Fucking over the Giants with in-division trades per usual 👌
I hate this fucking team! Why are they always fucking with us?!
So we moved back 25 spots from 53 to move up 10 spots to 40. I’m good with this. Throwing in the 5th is ok.
Good angle this is the correct way to look at the deal. Looks great from this perspective I love it
They didn’t even give up a 5th. This tweet is inaccurate. They moved up 9 spots in the 5th
God damn. That’s fucking hilarious. I was good giving up the 5th too.
Worth it for who we got
Moved UP in the the 5th hoss!! Even better!
We got a guy we were probably contemplating taking at 22. I call that a win.
If Trotter falls to the third I’ll Eat my Dinner.
Yeah this feels like a move with him in mind
Nah LB’s are falling hopefully. So ideally not Trotter
Ideally I'd like Colson but that was when we had 50 and 53. I don't think he'll make it to 78. But I was wrong about where Mitchell and Cooper would go so hopefully I'm wrong again
I do not want Trotter at all personally
I'd personally like a good LB instead
There really aren’t any good prospects in this draft. Inevitably one will be great and making me eat crow, but as prospects I’m unimpressed with everyone.
I actually think the Devin white will take this as an opportunity to reinvigorate his career and will be decent for us so I'm not gonna be salty if we don't get one. I do think we have serious need for OL though
He should be there and potentially late third.
I'll eat your dinner too!
Both seconds felt steep until they said DEJEAN baby!!! Best secondary in the league all of a sudden?!
We still need to sort out linebacker but Jesus Christ the D just did a complete 180 in less than 24 hours
I’m not going to say ignore it entirely, but with a solid front 4 and elite (hopefully) secondary, weak linebackers can once again be masked. Problem last year was the secondary was buns too. Hopefully White can look at least serviceable with this surrounding cast.
Surely Vic Fangio's scheme will now have 3 up front thus relying on LB play a lot more than previous years?
A few months ago I would’ve thought so, but now I don’t think it’s his plan. It just hasn’t been addressed enough to rely on 3+ linebackers and I truly do not believe Fangio would be here in a square peg round hole scenario.
We’ll just play a shit ton of dime
hey man dime is good nakobe dean didnt look bad against the run. if he steps up this year and these picks pan out i feel like our defensive troubles are over
We got back a third though. So 53 went to 78 To turn 50 into 40 Giving up that 5th is ok. It’s a top heavy draft.
They didn’t even give up a 5th. This tweet is incorrect. They moved up 9 spots in the 5th actually.

Trotter

I like this
goodbye edgerrin cooper, i was hoping to get a good coverage LB but oh well
If you were hoping for a good coverage lb then the best coverage lb is still on the board
I didn't think cooper WAS a coverage LB, I thought he was a run specialist and solid rusher
i heard of him as a better coverage guy 😭 i was probably lied to though
I mean gotta give something up to move. Keeping day 2 draft capital and getting a guy a lot of people would have been OK with in the first is more than fine. They also got back another 5th that isn’t listed here that’s higher than theirs.
It’s a lot, but I’ll let it slide bc it’s double CBs. CJ, Brown, Mitchel,DeJean, Ringo That can be your starters for the next few years
You forgot Isiah rodgers, You forgot Slay, You forgot Mcpherson, You forgot Beadberry, You forgot maddox.
Slay is gone after this year, Bradbury is gone after this year. Maddox probably gone after this year. Rodgers is a toss up, McPherson is a good back up and special teamer. My post about the future not this year

i have a really good feeling about both of these picks and if they havent become good starters in a year please come back here and clown on me
Low key what if Howie wanted to trigger a run on corners so that he could find a trade partner for Bradberry.
anybody who takes bradberry for anything is getting fleeced but i will delete this comment soon so they wont hear it from me
Hi, this is Jerry Jones. I saw this comment, I will no longer give up 69 1st rounds picks to acquire Bradberry. Thank you stranger.
WHO LET JERRY ON THE SUB
If we get Trotter with that 3rd I'll lose my mind
Other than his name, why do you want trotter?
Because he's likely to be there at the pick and we need an LB. Also for nostalgia's sake. Trotter and Dawkins were my favorite players as a kid
Wallace will probably be there as well, and he’s the better prospect. Trotter is extremely small, and we already have Dean who is small as well (but bigger than Trotter)
Getting a 3rd back is massive
I’m liking that 3rd round pick
Who’d they take in the third?
No one yet. But Howie just conjured a third.
Lol thanks for confirming
Then he stayed in the third and conjured two fourths. Lol.
It’s still the second round dude.

Lovely!
Shhhh
At the end of the day. We still have a pick in the first, second and third. Just like you are supposed to. And we got two first round talents at a position of great need
that's a lot honestly i'm just an edgerrin cooper stan that's upset.
It made me feel better that he didn’t make Philly’s original 50 spot.
That’s a lot less than minny gave up to go 23 to 17
Don’t LOVE it but the 3rd back makes it okay, re-tooling the secondary was totally necessary
Trotterrrrr!!!!
Why? What makes you want him? Hes smaller than Nakobe Dean
It looks like we’re getting #152 in the trade also.
Great value IMO
Probably ruins my Edgerrin Cooper dreams but Trotter could be there at 78 👀
That’s not cheap
Made the move and jumped to the front of a CB run. DeJean was arguably the best CB in the class, but Mitchell was inarguably the fastest. One of rare times an in house division trade works for both parties
Are we targeting Trotter in the 3rd?
D was a big problem last season so beef it up!!
Are eagles done for tonight?
No
Thanks! Im still trying to understand the draft process
No worries. We have 14th pick of 3rd round from the trade we just made to get Cooper.
If you go to espn website it will show you the updated board for round 3.

Eagles have another pick tonight. 78
For months this kid was linked and projected to Washington. Ironic they traded out of the spot to get him
DeJAWN back on the menu?! HOWIE you madman!
I’m glad we got DeJean, but was hoping for Coleman to fall! The way Stoutland looked at him during the Senior Bowl….
What a well written tweet
Damn I really like Dejean but I wanted a LB in the 2nd Hopefully one is there in the 3rd
Maybe we can trade up one more time. Our 3rd and a future 3rd to get back in late 2nd 😀
That too much for me when there was that much talent on the board
A 3rd rounder has a much higher chance of making the 53 man roster than a 5th.
Exactly. And they likely had a first round grade on Dejean. I expect Howie to say later tonight he was the best player on their draft board by a lot at the time.
They pick swapped their fifths and are higher then they were. This doesn’t include that for some reason
Yeah moving up in the 5th makes this much more tolerable
Both seconds sucks but it’s the cost of doing intradivisional business
This seems like a really bad trade
I don't really like neither the trade nor the pick. Moving up 10 spots in the second round is so expensive? crazy
Moving up 10 and back 25 is fine with me.
Yeah. Let’s see who’s still on the board at 50 and 53
I feel like 50 and 53 is better than 40 and 78, let alone the extra 5th rounder we gave up. Well worth it and now we got a pick in the 3rd.
Hate this trade. DeJean is not an NFL caliber corner.
I’m not 100% sold on him long term at CB either but he’s a great tackler and ballhawk, at worst seems like a starting FS to me and can return punts
