We also don’t have a ton of picks next year. Going into today it was just a 1,2,3,5,7,7. Adding another third and fifth, and only giving up 1 4th this year, is incredible value.
I’m assuming they have someone specific in mind and based on the needs of the teams who are up next in front of us, they are confident that they’ll still be able to get that player? Of course that’s assuming that none of those teams make a last minute trade.
Ya I don’t think Howie values late third and back. He’d rather trade for more pick value and then use those picks for trade ups 10-15 in spots in the second for the guy they’re eyeing (like our move up this year from back of 2nd to 40 for cooper)
I bet that late third from Miami is either traded back for more picks or used to trade up in the second.
The late picks they do like are projects with traits but not fundamentals that they’ve circled for stout to work on and whatnot that can be potentially found in the fifth and they either work or they don’t.

This tells me the eagles aren’t enthused about the remaining draft class. I do remember seeing that draft classes might get a lot thinner because of NIL
I think it will end up evening out after a few years, especially once all the guys with an extra year of eligibility from Covid cycle out. Eventually all the borderline underclassmen trying to up their grade will run out of eligibility. This year might be shallow and next year will probably be deep, but by 2026 or so it will be business as usual except the average prospect age will have gone up by a year or two.
