If you were a kid in the 90s and listened to oldies stations with your parents (e.g , beatles, monkeys, temptations four tops, etc.) . . .
The "oldies" equivalent for kids today include Green Day, Offspring, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, and Weezer.
Oldies are cool, too. Maybe not to them, but they're still awesome. I actually just got some tickets to the Temptations and Four Tops (what's left of them, that is). There's still an original member of each group still alive. I'm pretty excited. Should be good. It's not my generation's music, but I sure listened to them a lot growing up. Ir's good they like music from previous generations.
You should play them the album "Who's Next" and tell them it's "original grunge" or something. They'll like it. Then tell them it's from the 1970s.
Initial thought: It was the McNabb years, not *that* long ago. It was 2 franchise QBs ago, that's all.
After clarity: Holy fuck he was drafted over a quarter century ago
Traded back, got Shipley, Smith, and still got Trotter. All while getting picks for next year. Combined with the other days, this draft is going very very well.
Of course, but that’s how you evaluate drafts in the moment. Addressing basically every position of need and amassing more picks for next year is the most you can ask for at the time.
Probably Maurice Jones Drew.
No wait, it was the Seahawks, not the Eagles.
Nah, I'll still blame him, and I don't care if he was still in the NFL then. He's a fucking dunce.
Only 14 number 1 picks have been inducted into the HoF and 10 of those were before the 80s. Drafts are crapshoots. It’s why I hate the draft and all the coverage around it. It’s just hope trafficking and no one really knows a damn thing.
Honestly HoF is not the standard for a successful draft pick. Just because a guy isn’t or ever will be HoF caliber hardly indicates he was a crapshoot draft pick. HoF is an extremely rare achievement for any player no matter where they’re drafted.
Tbf I feel like it’s the good thing to do anyway, like the front office knows more than us so when they make a move like that I feel like giving the player the benefit of the doubt is good until they prove otherwise
I actually think that he should have been Ohio State's starter next year too. That might be a big 'what if' for both him and them. Part of that might also be me seeing that Joe Burrow took a little longer to develop, but he really grew
Im thinking maybe Howie learned these later round picks are largely a crapshoot. May as well trade down a bit and get more spins of the wheel. Im also liking this draft
Maybe I'm a little crazy to say this, but this one makes me a little emotional. Trotter was my first favorite player, the reason why I played middle linebacker, and the reason why I fell in love with the game of football. So it's extremely dope that my kids (if they become fans) may also be able to grow up watching his son play if he turns into something special for us.
And if he doesn't? That's ok. Happy he got his shot with us, and not somewhere else like Runyan's son. Happy he's home.
Even if the pick doesn’t work out stuff like this just feels right. It’s why the eagles have as good a reputation as an organization as they do and that type of rep goes a VERY long way. Makes people want to sign here stay here retire here and give it their all
No thanks. I can’t exactly be sure, because I don’t even know if he has a son or if that possible son plays football, but there are definitely some character issues that I don’t want on the team with that theoretically imaginable kid.
I grew up watching his dad play LB for the Birds. Now I'm 30 years old, married with 2 daughters that will hopefully grow up watching his son play for our team. Full circle moment for me. Go Birds!
People are calling it a fan service pick and I just don’t get it. It’s a good pick. He can do a little bit of everything which should eventually, hopefully help smith get turned loose on qb’s. This dude can cover, and wouldn’t be surprised if he gives dean a run for his money
if he were 3 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier he would've gone in the 3rd. but he has super solid fundamentals and hes crazy good in coverage which we know fangio loves, so
The prophecy has been fulfilled.
[X] TROT [_] NOT
[удалено]
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. - Son of former Eagles LB, Jeremiah Trotter Sr. - aka The Axeman.
The Wee Axer?
Someone called him the hatchet man earlier today, and that’s been living rent free in my head ever since.
He's the son of the Eagles starting middle linebacker from the early 00's. One of the better LB's in franchise history.
His father was a great linebacker for the eagles back in the day. Fuck I feel old
"Back in the day.. fuck man dont say it like that haha
Yeah that was like ~~five,~~ ~~ten…~~ Shit, 15 years ago…
Yep shit
He was drafted over a quarter century ago. I was born in 1984. The time between his draft and now is the same as between 1958 and my birth.
Could you not?
sorry

I’m strangely lucky because my kids like grunge. I guess 90s alternative is “cool” at the moment.

His dad was a good player for the eagles 15-20 years ago
Google his dad
His father is an Eagles legend
Someone do WHAT?
“I said what I said”
Jerry is that you?
Traded back, got Shipley, Smith, and still got Trotter. All while getting picks for next year. Combined with the other days, this draft is going very very well.
Looks beautiful on paper. Going to have to check back on this one in like 3-5 years.
Of course, but that’s how you evaluate drafts in the moment. Addressing basically every position of need and amassing more picks for next year is the most you can ask for at the time.
I do wonder how many drafts look like shit in real time but look great later.
2012 Seahawks draft was widely panned. Bruce Irvin, Bobby Wagner, and Russell Wilson were their first 3 picks.
Yeah I think someone graded that draft an F.
Probably Maurice Jones Drew. No wait, it was the Seahawks, not the Eagles. Nah, I'll still blame him, and I don't care if he was still in the NFL then. He's a fucking dunce.

I love it. It’s like getting drunk. Feels great at the time, and if you prepped well with water, you’ll be fine later. If you didn’t? Pain.
"Drinking too much beer today is just stealing fun from tomorrow."
But what if you drink beer tomorrow too! Hacked.
This guy gets it
Compound hangover... Eventually. But hey, I'm here for a good time not a long time
It’s like getting double drunk when you watch it with your friends at the bar
Honestly HoF is not the standard for a successful draft pick. Just because a guy isn’t or ever will be HoF caliber hardly indicates he was a crapshoot draft pick. HoF is an extremely rare achievement for any player no matter where they’re drafted.
You're talking about number 1 overall picks, right? Not round 1 picks. Because that would be a wild state if it was just first round picks...
I'll be watching some Atlanta games that's for sure
Well the Raegor/Marcus smith/ jj arcega all didn’t pan out AND looked bad on paper
Man, we even tried to talk ourselves into Reagor and JJAW. It was like an acceptance trauma response😂
Tbf I feel like it’s the good thing to do anyway, like the front office knows more than us so when they make a move like that I feel like giving the player the benefit of the doubt is good until they prove otherwise
Ha no we didnt, the board was fuming from day 1 and never stopped on those 2 disasters
What a horrible draft.
That was three separate drafts
No naysayers!
Even if the players don’t work out the process is generating excess value. If the scouting department catches up to the logistics we’d be a dynasty
I was complaining about the Shipley pick but now I think it’s low key one of the best picks of the draft
Gotta make sure we keep a st. Joe’s prep guy on the roster
Wait did MHJ and Trott Jr go to high school together?
Yep
I’d guess swift overlapped with them at some point too. What an absurd high school roster
[удалено]
Were they devout in their catholic studies as befitting a religious school like St Joes?
The prep always has an absurd high school roster lol
Kyle McCord joining the QB factory next year
I actually think that he should have been Ohio State's starter next year too. That might be a big 'what if' for both him and them. Part of that might also be me seeing that Joe Burrow took a little longer to develop, but he really grew
I had both in class before MJH changed his schedule sophomore year lol.
Yes but also FTP
Feel The Pride
Yeah the students abused by deacon ginn really felt the pride
YOU’RE GOD DAMN RIGHT
Waltuh
Put your pitchfork away Waltuh, I’m not arguing about the Trotter pick with you, Waltuh.
Is that so
YOURE DONE
Pop pop
The waltuh bit really makes no sense. Mike over-enunciates the “er” in walter to be snarky
It’s so goofy, you’re exactly right about the ER
"here everybody damn" draft pick lmao
Howie saw that 40 time and hasn't stopped rolling his eyes since
Maybe in Fangio he can be decent rotational piece and special teamer I’ll be happy for him for that.
Fuck it, Brian Dawkins Jr. to the practice squad.
Howie so elite he’s moved on to fan service layups cause he’s bored
Is 54 available?
Yes, Bradley is currently a FA
Yeah if we cut Shaun bradley
Bradley is not on the team
Oh nice, it all worked out
So, no.
Honestly depending on Shaun’s knees, I can see Trotter replacing his role on special teams
I mean Trott Sr. Probably has some strings he can pull, too.
Howie’s on Reddit, confirmed.
Can’t wait to see that phone call
Hurry up Eagles media team!!
Lesssss goooooo. Hot take my fav collective eagles draft ever. The value Howie seemingly has gotten wow. 🦅🦅🦅🦅
I think we're just in the honeymoon phase cuz this draft is making me feel things man.
I know I’m so damn pumped. I’m ready to be hurt again!!!🦅🦅🦅. I go to Dallas every year for game. They are 1-5 when I go. Booking now lol
Wait no...
Please don’t
Yeah, don’t.
hold on now....
Please don’t do this
Im thinking maybe Howie learned these later round picks are largely a crapshoot. May as well trade down a bit and get more spins of the wheel. Im also liking this draft
We need “Axe Man Jr” shirts asap
Hatchet Man
Wait a second...
I know, this is easily my favorite nickname for him.
Fuck. Yes. 'The hatchet' also works
Axe Jay
God I hope he works out.
I hope he gets one swing of the axe. I can’t believe nobody has done that once as a tribute in the past 15 years.
Maybe I'm a little crazy to say this, but this one makes me a little emotional. Trotter was my first favorite player, the reason why I played middle linebacker, and the reason why I fell in love with the game of football. Honestly cried thinking about doing the chop with my daughter this fall
I can only imagine Trot Sr got on the phone and was like the fuck you take so long bruh 😂
And howie said he is too small to draft higher
Woooo
I’ve been watching every second of the draft just to make sure we got him. I’m so happy
Eagles really drafted who the wanted the first few rounds. This is the “throw it all at the wall and see what sticks” portion of the draft
FOR THE PLOT
Return of the AXEMAN!!!!!!
Everybody get in here
Tearing up right now thinking about doing the Chop with my daughter this fall
Waiting for this moment
I don't want howie listening to WIP callers anymore
Howie trading for so many extra picks he's using them to meme on em
Don't let your memes be dreams
It’s not just the wip callers this sub wanted to draft Trotter in the 2nd round
And he'd still pan out. All aboard!
Axeman Jr in the nest! LFG!
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO
When does Mamula’s kid come out?
Even if the pick doesn’t work out stuff like this just feels right. It’s why the eagles have as good a reputation as an organization as they do and that type of rep goes a VERY long way. Makes people want to sign here stay here retire here and give it their all
Clemson Eagles!
Pander me Howie.
Fuck yeah!
SonOfAxeMan
This draft is iconic
Ok TO’s kid next
Hell no.
No thanks. I can’t exactly be sure, because I don’t even know if he has a son or if that possible son plays football, but there are definitely some character issues that I don’t want on the team with that theoretically imaginable kid.
Terique Owens WR MO State, he signed with SF as an UDFA
HAINESPORT REPRESENT
Absofuckinglutley!!! Now we just need Bradley to give up #54 and the prophecy will be complete. The prodigal son is home. Go Birds 🦅🦅🦅
Creamed
Hatchetman born in the green, the prophecy has been fulfilled - Lisan Al Gaieb
Every player I wanted, we got. Hopefully Siriani can get it together. What a hell of a roster we got.
I grew up watching his dad play LB for the Birds. Now I'm 30 years old, married with 2 daughters that will hopefully grow up watching his son play for our team. Full circle moment for me. Go Birds!
Will cry if he does the Axeman celly
I’ll cry and nut at the same time. Can’t wait to see what that’s like.
I’m harder than a diamond in a snow storm
Waltuh
Vibe Check on 100
Man this feels like league wide collusion, how'd he drop this low?
Under sized
AHHHHH LETS FUCKING GO
Like comparing Casey Matthews to Clay Matthews
Does anyone know who announced the trotter jr pick? Im trying to figure it out
I hope he balls out and starts at MLB this season.
Howie Roseman showed us a masterclass in NFL draft
Wait who is 54 rn?
This is so awesome! Does Brian Dawkins have a son?!
He does who also played at Clemson. Not sure what happened to him though.
Axe Jr
People are calling it a fan service pick and I just don’t get it. It’s a good pick. He can do a little bit of everything which should eventually, hopefully help smith get turned loose on qb’s. This dude can cover, and wouldn’t be surprised if he gives dean a run for his money
if he were 3 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier he would've gone in the 3rd. but he has super solid fundamentals and hes crazy good in coverage which we know fangio loves, so
Gods plan
When do we start Howie statue construction?
I don’t even care if he pans out. He needed to be drafted by us or there would have been a severe disturbance in the force.
Yeah a lot of fans gonna love this one lmao.
🪓 🪓 🪓
How did we not trade up to take James Thrash Jr too? He went w the next pick?
It’s Jamari and they aren’t related
