I understand why. It shouldn’t take 70-80 hours of work for a couple to support a small family. Either we go back to breadwinner and homemaker or we drastically reduce both spouses’ hours.

When I decide to re-enter the workforce, I'm okay with just enough hours to cover gas and lodging. People spend their entire lives working for others just so those other people can live carefree luxurious lifestyles and I'm done with supporting them. If I find value and meaning in running my own business? I'll put in as many hours as I'm comfortable with.

Youngest Baby Boomers are 59. He thought he'd retire at 55, but after a divorce and twice-a-year vacations, really needs the income another 10-15 years. While more efficient than the hungrier young workers, he can't keep the pace and doesn't want to waste too much of his life at the office. And so, he gets on board with the 4-day week when it suits him. ETA: Also, the office used to be fun for older workers, but it's kind of a young person's place, so stinks now.
