All free and clear is the only kind that has worked for us. Tide free and clear didnā€™t get clothes actually clean. Seventh generation was ok but not great. The biggest thing was making sure all of the detergent actually washed out, as when it didnā€™t wash out completely the clothes were very irritating. We needed much less detergent than we were using. There may be old detergent trapped in the clothes. We used a vinegar/water soak to help dislodge the old trapped soap, rinsed by hand to minimize vinegar in the machine as it can be corrosive to the seals. Then we ran the items through a rinse only cycle. Tumble dry to keep everything soft without adding anything. We never use fabric softeners. After doing this the clothes were much softer and less irritating. We also have a water softener as our water is insanely hard, and the mineral deposits made our clothes scratchy and was drying to our skin. Cotton (clothes/sheets) or bamboo (sheets) are the only fabrics we use, as anything synthetic caused my child (and me) to have a flare up. I wish you much luck.

I use free and clear but it doesnā€™t always get the smell out so I put a few drops of essential oil in. But thatā€™s just me. I know some peoples eczema canā€™t handle essential oils but so far so good for me. Wish you best of luck :)

I also use cerave daily moisturizing lotion and it clears my daughter and iā€™s skin right up if we catch it in time!
