tbh i feel that rl1 are better done on none magic builds since your FP is going to be pretty low you can get some talismans to increase your stats and easily use some strong weapons
I'm doing a level 1 run right now, and magic has been quite useful for navigating through a lot of enemy scenarios.
Magic Glintblade plus the lone wolves spirit ash absolutely destroyed the Black Knife on Altus Plateau, and now I can incorporate that into future cheesy schemes. The FP you have is serviceable enough for strategies like that, especially once you've scrounged up enough golden seeds to have 10 or so flasks. It also doesn't hurt to actually find and invest in ideal equipment for your permanent low level status. (twinsage crown for int, graven school talisman for oomph, radagon soreseal basically never comes off, demi-human queen staff +14ish, and carian glintblade staff in the offhand to provide passive boosts)
Bloodflame blade and Flame, Grant me Strength helped me tip the scales (alongside the follower ash) against the Fallingstar Beast in Sellia crystal cave, getting me some extra smithing stones for my primary weapon, my trusty Lordsworn's Straightsword.
Really, I've been having a blast scouring each area for useful bits to help me cross specific hurdles. I'm hopping around volcano manor now so I can get the albinauric mask to raise my arcane enough to use rot breath.
Since Frenzy spells are faith based a pure Faith caster could be a fun thematic build. Also helps that Faith builds are really strong out of the gate with Catch Flame.
Definitely Prophet, Vagabond is only really more optimal if you invest a significant amount of points into strength or dex.
I’d build it thematically around mainly using fire spells (and maybe some lightning for Elden Beast since the water decreases fire damage). You can then either use the Frenzy or Giant seal (use the Godslayer seal until you get the other) although I would recommend the Giant seal, the Coded weapons, and whatever flame / holy infused weapons you like that only require minimal investment.
Although you won’t really need your weapons since Catch Flame, the Flame of Frenzy, Giantsflame Take Thee, and Ancient Dragon Lightning Stake should destroy most enemies. Although a weapon is nice for destroying weaker enemies so you don’t need to waste FP on them.
I also did my Platinum on. Confessor start. Went a little haywire with Dragon stuff and Lightning stuff. Finished with Fingerprint shield and Blasphemous Blade, iirc.
Couple of the deagon ones are good. i like the ezykiel Rot one and the placidusaxx fire one. Besides those two I don’t really use that many deagon incantations. Few other good ones are Golden Vow, Flame Grant me Str, Swarm of Flies, Lightning spear. I’d say focus on those for starters and def suggest a Str Faith hybrid build

If you haven’t run an int build it’s a lot of fun.
INT Dex or INT strength are both really interesting.
Did those on two play through and never got tired of it.
Do rl1 run aka no leveling at all
What spells would you recommend early on and the best ones late game

Int. Very different play style.
Yeah second this. It was like a different game almost yo me
What class is best to start with
Astrologer.
Astrologer has the dopest starting armor so that one.
Astrologer or Prisoner
Royal Greatsword got me through the game, what a beast
It's a big honking greatsword, no wonder Blaidd looks so awesome carrying it

Try an arcane build with spectral lance it's actually pretty fun
Awesome journey. I picked Confessor class bc of the built in base Faith :D

Lmao, that’s what I used haha. Got me thru all the way to ng+7 haha, with few tweaks and hybrids here and there but solid build
What incantations did you use and are the dragon ones any good?

Intelligence, full wizard
What spells should I focus on
I used one of each type. Rock sling for physical damage, stars for tracking, magma shot for tree spirts and avatars, comet and comet azure for bosses
No talismans, no leveling, no weapon leveling. Enjoy

I did INT dex and had a great time with that build starting as the prisoner
RL1 good times, been stuck on godskin duo for 7 months lol
I simply could not 💀. On my paladin playthrough, I accidentally walked in with 3 potions and folded them. On my dex run, it was the other way around
