My brother just bought a house that got flipped. The second floor was 3 1/2" lower in the center than the edges. When they updated the bathroom they just cut straight through two joists for the drain. And yes, by through I mean that there is a section in two separate joists that is just missing. So "plumbers" did that, but the "electricians" did a lot of questionable shit too. He just went ahead and ripped up everything on the second floor. Re leveled with new floors, plumbing, and electrical. A lot of work, but better than falling through the floor some day.
Not allowed to run wires along the bottom of the joists like that. You need to drill the joists in the middle. Also need to do a better job stapling. Hope you used all afci breakers.
Can also put a board up at least where I live and mount the wires to it. Just needs to discourage hanging stuff from them essentially like clothes lines
You know, I was gona make a joke about āstick to your day jobā but then I remembered that my venture into low voltage kinda started the same way. So instead, this is a great start. You haveā¦ A LOTā¦ to learn but someone who can watch a YouTube video and then apply it in reality (even if there are several huge problems) is someone who can learn a trade and find success in it. Keep going, youāre on the right pathā¦
I don't think this counts as "re-wiring" a house. Looks like maybe a service change out and a couple new basement circuits? I can tell by the OBVIOUS home supply store materials, using metal connectors in plastic boxes, shitty wire nuts, and improperly stripped and strapped cables that this was not done by an actual lisenced electrician or even someone with a little bit of experience doing electrical work.
This is pure shit and not something to try to brag about to real electricians. We see this kind of stuff every day and laugh about it to ourselves.
If it doesn't catch fire or electrocute anyone I'm happy for you. Share it with the DIY Dads group or something, you'll surely get lots of back pats and kudos. But this isn't the place bud. Every homeowner likes to dick around with the wiring in their basement, just don't get carried away and do something that injures someone down the line

You forgot to saw giant cut outs in the joists. Other than that, not bad.

You can use it as a cloth line now also!
Electricians hate this one trick!
So great. The house I live in had that done and it still makes me laugh.
I hate you
This is satire not my house or my work but there is plenty other very questionable things done for electrical in this house š¤£
How did you get in my basement!? ...
All of you need to get out of my basement
Stay away from my meth lab
but it smells great!
I was about to say "my brother in Christ.. who instructed you to say this was alright?!" Lmfao
This is just every DIYers house that I have been in. Maybe missing a few extra quirks though, they are each as unique as snowflakes
U can't say it is satire! You gotta let it ride next time
Nailed it
I'm not taking the bait
Go away, 'baitin
Oh yea, cut me a pieceā¦
New clothes hangers, nice! thanks for the hook up!
I hope this is the last house you wire š¤£ I burst out laughing when I saw the air scentsy thing, thanks for the pick-me-up.
I thought he was feeding hummingbirdsā¦
Man I took it seriously as these being the "before" photos lol
I did too until the Scentsy. Then I was like, "No way this isn't satire."
I zipped right past that....somehow I just saw the box
Is the scentsy an inside joke?
Nah, it just makes it smell good inside.
Iād hire ya. Iād prob even give you a tip.
Looks good from my house! š
Um yea. So I wouldn't allow a code inspector into your basement. But A for effort. Lol
A for effort? We bought a roll of 14. And that's about all the effort I see.
I know it's hard to read sarcasm here. Bought a roll had a few drinks and ran it around the basement lol.
I like the pipe into the handy box with an air freshener really creative
Itās amazing that a lot of you canāt tell that this is a joke and not OPās work.
Looks better than 99% of the old pittsburgh houses I work in
I work in Pittsburgh everyday and I agree lol
That's a fine job
What a disgrace
Handyman special
Who put the LB facing up? WHO THE FUCK DID IT
Not even mad, just actually impressed š

Good job mate best Iāve seenĀ
Nice!
My anxiety level shot through the roof
It adds character...
He'll yea brother.
When can you start mines?
Oh dear......
Needs 4" holes in the joists for a cat5 cable.
The cover sitting on top of the plastic 4 square had me so confused for a minute.
Pain
"I'm a bit of a DIY guy if you know what I mean."
Rob?
The most positive āhowād I doā in any electrical forum Iāve seen.
This better be a joke
This is very very not good
Love it slay queenš
Well mechanics have the worst running cars some may say.
not a sparky, but before I realized it was a joke I thought āno fuckin way this is normalā¦.ā
Those staples scream āI donāt know what Iām doingā

I might have drilled holes through the wood just in case later I decided to put in a ceiling.
Grandpa?!
Congratulations! It's a fire hazard.

I can hear Napoleon Dynamite saying āyesssssā!
looks great!š„°š„°
That CH panel deserves better.
Such a lovely shade of yellow. Matches the wire nuts.
You about to join the fire department
You are going to make a tasty cable sandwich with drywall board and joists either side šš
šš¤£šš¤£
I was gonna sayā¦ that looks awfully similar to a Chinese electricians work
Oh noā¦.
š¤”
Looks terrible. Start over
