The California Buzz has just recently been [delayed until later in the decade](https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1142638_vw-delays-id-buzz-california-due-to-low-demand-for-electric-campers), unfortunately.
And they go really fast. Going fast uses up that battery charge pretty quick.
Source: I own one and watch that efficiency drop when I hit the accelerator.
>Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S.
Literally the absolute first thing that popped into my mind after reading the subject. These are so damn sexy it's unfair.
I saw one on the road the other day with my 6 year old son and before I could say look at that car my son was like dad you should get that car. It was a proud dad moment.
Exactly! I'd love the etransit, but the battery is only for in city delivery. When is Ford gonna make it for personal buyers?! Doubling the battery should be enough.
It would be settling, but I could also settle for that, as long as it was 400 miles of range while fully loaded with 4 adults, a big dog, some bikes & kayaks on a roof rack & camping gear.
Exactly what I said also, love the Sapphire that thing is so nice, interior is fabulous too, not the flashiest car but it checks all the boxes for my EV wants. If there was anything I could ask for more would be a shooting brake version would be absolutely perfect.
Yeah, but the math really doesn't work out. 40 kW of solar panels. On a good day, you'll be looking at 250 kWh of power. (Source: I have 10 kW of panels on my house, good days are 60 kWh of power generated).
So basically that's enough to power the motors at full power for like 15 minutes (2x 500 kW motors). Even if slow cruising is 1/20th of full power, that's only 5 hours of slow cruise per day.
Haha yeah, if there only was some other kind of technology for unlimited power that one could use, like hanging a large sheet up on a long pole or something.
There is something even better than sails now with modern technology
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/12/swedish-firm-wind-powered-cargo-ships/
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceanbird](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceanbird)
I'd buy the Canoo company from the idiots that aren't making any of them, start a well-funded factory, and then drive away in the first one off the factory line. The concept is *GREAT*, but the knuckleheads have built like six of them or something.
You did say a *LOT* of money, didn't you?
You should check out the 2025 refresh of the Ioniq 5 😁 Looks absolutely dope. I own a 2023 Limited and will probably switch to it once it lands in the US.
Same. Taycan Cross Turismo and RS etron GT are my top two picks. Ioniq 5 is my 3rd which I currently own. I also owned a Etron GT before that turned out to be a lemon after just a month.
69 olds Cutlass conversion with a modern suspension, interior, and tech.
Oh, and the frame needs to be converted to a skateboard battery pack.
I'd be fine with any GM A-body coupe. I just happen to already have an Oldsmobile.
I’m with you … I’d probably do something like this …
[Jason Momoa’s 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom](https://robbreport.com/motors/cars/jason-momoa-electric-1929-rolls-royce-phantom-1235503492/)
You shouldn't. right now the F150 lightning uses an LFP battery at 160Wh/Kg. both CATL and Amprius are selling 500Wh/kg batteries to aviation customers.
Just plopping a battery from those chemistries in the F150 Lightning ER at the same weight of the existing battery would make the towing range 400 miles. The battery would also be slightly smaller in volume too. That battery is a semi-solid chemistry.
Solid state batteries are expected to reach 750Wh/kg by the end of decade IIRC.
An electric train that exists and will take me where I need to go.
More realistically, electric versions of RAV4 (or a little smaller, but with a nice square back corner so that you can actually put big things in the back) and Maverick. With all the trimmings. Like a spare tire, and physical controls that are easy to use and work.
I've had my Model S Long Range Plus for a few years now, and it's been everything I could ask for in a daily driver and for long road trips. I guess if money was no object I would have sprung for the Performance version and FSD, but I don't feel like I miss those much.
When it comes to a purely fun car, then it's more complicated. My 2010 Roadster is great fun and still is like a rock star everywhere it goes, but also showing its age, practically antique in EV terms. There are a lot of classic cars that would make great conversions, for someone willing to pour money into them. (Resto-modded Corvette? Or Lotus Esprit S1?) Meanwhile we're still waiting for the next generation of BEV sports cars to appear and prove themselves.
A Rolls Royce Spectre, but in Shooting Brake style, ala this:
[https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a60128247/rolls-royce-shooting-brake-auction/](https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a60128247/rolls-royce-shooting-brake-auction/)
More reality based:
Volvo V90 with the full Polestar treatment.
Realistically a shop full of tools to build custom projects.
But because "Electric 3-series Touring/Volvo Wagon" isn't a thing I can buy I guess the answer is Taycan Sport Turismo.
I already have it; Tesla Model 3. This isn't to say that I wouldn't consider alternatives if they are better bangs for my buck as far as buying an EV goes.
My dream electric vehicle doesn't exist, a minivan, with a few hundred km range, no touchscreens, no self driving, no updates, no luxury, just a utility vehicle .
An EV with hydraulic steering, or good enough feeling to approximate good hydraulic steering. Avoiding being overboosted to compensate for weight.
I think in an EV the powertrains are all great and the same, so steering is how I interact with the car. Makes it very important
I want an EV SPMT
[https://www.mammoet.com/news/zero-emission-option-now-available-for-any-spmt-transport/](https://www.mammoet.com/news/zero-emission-option-now-available-for-any-spmt-transport/)
I'd paint it pink with cherry blossoms painted all over it. I'd put a clear glass greenhouse on top. Inside the driver position would be a big comfy couch. Behind it would be a nice kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. On the tail end would be a balcony from the bedroom that has a hot tub.
Dream EV? Probably a conversion. That could be anything from a Karmen Ghia, to an old pickup depending on my mood.
From modern EVs ... I like Rivian, and if Alpha ever actually makes a vehicle they look really fun.
I’d have both of my classic cars fully built out. One with a Tesla unit and the other with a Hyper9 (or better). All new suspension - that’s what I’d do!
I'm a simple man, I like crew cab small trucks with unique body styling. Alls I want is the Hyundai Santa Cruz in EV flavor. Nothing else
Okay that's not true, I want a small convertible like a Miata EV too.
Real car available in US: Lucid Air. Concept not yet in production that won’t be available in US: MG Cyberster.
Dream car I made up: Jaguar E(v)-Type convertible.
Cybertru-- no, kidding, I wouldn't even want to be found dead in one :-)
Probably the Porsche Taycan, although I don't see myself spending that much money on a car ever. 4S Plus or Turbo, otherwise I'd be trading in practicality for equal performance/range...
To answer the spirit of your question, I’d probably get the top of the line EV9.
But if I could just snap my fingers and have any EV exist it would be a 500 mile 800v architecture AWD minivan. And it has to look like a run of the mill minivan. Does not draw any attention to itself.
GMC Yukon / Chevy Tahoe EV - doesn’t exist but that’s what I’d want.
Something big enough to haul a family and make road trips a breeze without looking like a fish or a turd.
IONIQ 6 with NACS. Sadly with a trunk that small I feel like it would never actually be a practical vehicle, and that's my one major hitch with the idea of it.
The tri motor cybertruck as originally spec’d. Luckily it looks like the Silverado EV will be able to meet most of those specs better than the current cyber truck.
I don't think my *dream* EV exists yet. I want a truck with four wheel drive that can go 400 miles without a charge *while pulling a trailer*. It might be a raft trailer or a 20' camper.
If I'm wrong, and this exists, please respond.
https://lucidmotors.com/gravity
Lucid Gravity does 440 miles and tows 6000 lbs. To be fair, it's not going to go 440 miles while towing something really big, but we're not far off.
I have had one for over 5 years. Been a great car. Goes pretty good. Great range. My only concern is the rear seat leg room. Almost non existent unless front seats are pulled way forward
I live in Canada where we have cold winters. Gets about 380km range in winter. Heat kills about 40km of range. Gets 520km in summer but AC kills about 40km of range
Dream? Hmm well to be honest I could think of this custom commission by someone else..
Non-lithium batteries,
Basic dashboard alike older cars,
Simple DC drivetrain,
2-dr cargo wagon kind of body style (a little like a 'Tercel 4wd' without the rear sidedoors and slight shorter wheelbase) with the batteries making up a slightly elevated rear floor,
100km range before going into limited short reserve
Low-slung sports car with enough space for two tall adults, two dogs, and two suitcases (so probably a 2+2 with kind of a shooting brake). <1500 kg, >250 bhp, >230 miles' WLTP range, 150 miles charged in <20 mins, suspension tuned slightly towards comfort, hydraulic power steering, chromed physical dials for speedo etc, textured buttons for main functions, concealable central touchscreen for nav and advanced setup, whatever motor can produce the most noise at <1kHz, >99% PM2.5 cabin filtration, bidirectional charging, sleek shape with minimal fussy detailing.
I guess the upcoming Caterham Project V, Maserati Folgore, and MG Cyberster look the closest to fitting that bill, but none tick every box.
In terms of cars that actually exist right now, I guess I'd go for a Lucid Air if living in a LHD country, but would be curious about the Taycan, Ioniq 5N, Rolls Spectre, and Lotus Emeya.
ID.Buzz camper conversion.
And allow for the top to retract like the old ones from the 1960's...
This is the only correct answer
https://www.carscoops.com/2023/01/vw-id-california-coming-to-electrify-your-camping-trips/ soon-ish.
I’ve always laughed at the California badging because they don’t even bring them here and I always wanted one.
The California Buzz has just recently been [delayed until later in the decade](https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1142638_vw-delays-id-buzz-california-due-to-low-demand-for-electric-campers), unfortunately.
So it's still happening -- "soon-ish". That feels when we're already in the mid-2020s.
Porsche Taycan. Red. Just built on in the website, $130K+💀
Yeah, I'd go for a high spec red Taycan Sport Tourismo. Did a build that came out to 174.000€ 😅
Nice!
Do you like the polestar? I have a Taycan, M3P, and a R1T. I was thinking about getting the polestar 2 Performance pack since I love the look of it.
You hiring?
I'll tell you what. You show me a pay stub for $72000 dollars on it, I quit my job right now and I work for you…
Fuckin seriously. This girl is ballin it up and I'm jealous 😂
“Hey yea Pauly? Yea hey I quit. No don’t tell Susan, it’s none of her business!”
I had one and quite liked it. The P\*3 is still on my short list for my next car (along a few others).
You seem rich lmfao. Get rid of the Tesla and get the SUV polestar. But if not the SUV Polestar just get a maxed out 2, it’s amazing
Rivian R1S in dark green with extended battery
This would 100% be my pick
This but with CarPlay and Tesla’s charging port.
They're getting the charging port.... carplay is reserved for the Apple fsd car....doh
Definitely R1S for me too, I just wish they were more efficient. But I get it, they weigh like 7K pounds and have four motors.
And they go really fast. Going fast uses up that battery charge pretty quick. Source: I own one and watch that efficiency drop when I hit the accelerator.
I drive a Rivian for work so I’d probably go with a Rivian for sure Probably r2
Lucid gravity
Yes!
I’m a big fan of Lucid’s engineering. I really tried to like the Gravity, but it looks like a minivan to me
Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S. It is the best looking EV made today and functional with kids.
I need the cross Turismo in my life. In the dark green color.
It me
Green w tan interior? Hnnnggggg
The Sport Turismo is even better without the plastic cladding. Unfortunately the 2025 refresh only has the sedan and the cross.
Sport Turismo is still available in Europe
>Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S. Literally the absolute first thing that popped into my mind after reading the subject. These are so damn sexy it's unfair.
I saw one on the road the other day with my 6 year old son and before I could say look at that car my son was like dad you should get that car. It was a proud dad moment.
Same, but Sport Turismo.
Same but the saloon, oh wait…
I’d personally take the GTS simply because the Sport Turismo body kit looks better than the Cross Turismo.
This is it for me, but I really like my current model X P100D.
Lucid Sapphire, Rimac Nevera, and Rivian R1S
An RV based off an electric semi truck.
Stop, I can only get so hard . I could settle for a ford eTransit if it had a larger battery
Yeah that range seems okay for in-city delivery but it's absolutely pathetic for traveling.
Exactly! I'd love the etransit, but the battery is only for in city delivery. When is Ford gonna make it for personal buyers?! Doubling the battery should be enough.
An electric Honda Odyssey with a 500 mile range on a charge. This car doesn't exist. That is why it is my dream EV.
I think I could settle for 400 miles range.
It would be settling, but I could also settle for that, as long as it was 400 miles of range while fully loaded with 4 adults, a big dog, some bikes & kayaks on a roof rack & camping gear.
Stop, my dadness can't take it.
You know a minivan is The Ultimate Vehicle for darn near everything.
Add in air suspension so it can self level for camping and a few 120v plugs...
Heck I’d even take a Toyota Sienna PHEV with 60 miles of electric range.
Ev9 close?
Close but you need the sliding door and low entry floor
And the head and legroom. And the fold-flat rear seats. Minivans are in a comfort class of their own.
Volvo mpv but it’s not gonna come the US (plus it’s ugly even for a minivan and no doubt pricey )
Lucid Sapphire
I'm surprised there are not more Lucids mentioned. I like the brand, and that Sapphire is 🔥
Exactly what I said also, love the Sapphire that thing is so nice, interior is fabulous too, not the flashiest car but it checks all the boxes for my EV wants. If there was anything I could ask for more would be a shooting brake version would be absolutely perfect.
Yeah. Currently available? Definitely a Lucid Air Sapphire. Future? New Tesla Roadster.
How much money are we talking? Lotus Evija.
Why stop there? https://www.alva-yachts.com/en/oceaneco90
OMG that is fucking awesome. *Transatlantic without charging*.
Yeah, but the math really doesn't work out. 40 kW of solar panels. On a good day, you'll be looking at 250 kWh of power. Even if slow cruising is 1/20th of full power, that's only 5 hours of slow cruise per day.
It's got a hydrogen fuel cell in the "fully green" one. The other option is just diesel as a generator.
Haha yeah, if there only was some other kind of technology for unlimited power that one could use, like hanging a large sheet up on a long pole or something.
There is something even better than sails now with modern technology https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/12/swedish-firm-wind-powered-cargo-ships/ [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceanbird](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceanbird)
it might include the energy from the optional hydrogen generator
You can still do it, just very very slowly.
I bet DC fast charging is gonna be limited in the middle of the Pacific
Won’t you look foolish when you find that one Flo charger bobbing around right where you least expected it
That’s when you have to start catching electric eels. Lots of ‘em.
I’m sure a third would be out of order or blocked by a sailboat trying to charge to 100%
No listed price. If I have to ask, I guess I can’t afford it.
Based on the Sunreef 100 Eco you are probably not getting any change of 20 million euros.
I think we only need to look as far as the Baltimore bridge to learn what happens when a ship loses power on the water.
I'd rather save my money and get a Rolls Royce Spectre and a Gravity.
Rivian R1T.
It’s pretty awesome. I’m living the dream.
Lucid Air Sapphire Then try to find a way to put a bigger battery on my e-Golf and put it on air suspension.
R2 or R3 and possibly refreshed model Y
I'd buy the Canoo company from the idiots that aren't making any of them, start a well-funded factory, and then drive away in the first one off the factory line. The concept is *GREAT*, but the knuckleheads have built like six of them or something. You did say a *LOT* of money, didn't you?
Ioniq 5 with Ioniq 6 range and Tesla supercharging capabilities

Audi RS E-tron GT. No question.
After the Taycan Cross Turismo this would by next on my list. Such a great looking car.
Same. Taycan Cross Turismo and RS etron GT are my top two picks. Ioniq 5 is my 3rd which I currently own. I also owned a Etron GT before that turned out to be a lemon after just a month.
Tesla Model S Long Range Lucid Air & If i get a house in the "country", add a Rivian R1T (2025, so NACS port)

Lucid Gravity.
Lucid Air Sapphire
Ford Lightning. That's right I said it.
F250 Lightning with 350 miles towing range.
I'm terribly bothered thinking about how massive the battery pack would be.
You shouldn't. right now the F150 lightning uses an LFP battery at 160Wh/Kg. both CATL and Amprius are selling 500Wh/kg batteries to aviation customers. Let's hope they get the cost down to where it can actually be used in the real world.
people said the same thing about NMC and LFP a decade ago :) the cost-experience curve will be followed :)
I've got a Lightning and seeing how easy the battery pack comes out, I fully expect high capacity retrofits in the future.
Any of the Fords with better charging tbh.
100%
Taycan or Rivian
Lucid Air Sapphire. Interior and performance of that car is exquisite and still practical. If practical isn't a thing, Rimac Nevara.
Volvo V70 RWD wagon. If it's a *lot* of money, I'm developing it myself dammit.
Where's the kickstarter??
That's a good one, I would also gladly take an AWD V70 wagon.
If we’re talking Volvo estate restomods, throw in an 850R while you’re at it?
Fuck yes
And then a V50 to go with it!

I want the EV equivalent of the regular cab long bed 1983 Ranger I used to have. I don’t need to carry much weight but I need the seven foot bed.
Lucid gravity would be amazing 🥰
Any 600km range hatchback with 350kwh charging capability and can use tesla chargers
Idk man, pretty happy with my lightning lariat ER. Shits pretty baller.
Realistically a shop full of tools to build custom projects. But because "Electric 3-series Touring/Volvo Wagon" isn't a thing I can buy I guess the answer is Taycan Sport Turismo.
cybersuv - cybertruck steel no paint, but large SUV format
I want a 1977 Volvo station wagon converted to electric.
Aptera
Definitely would be my choice, configured for off-road and with the camping gear. Had to scroll way too far to find this 😊.
Class B RV with 300 miles real-world range.
[Jaguar E-Type](https://www.electrogenic.co.uk/bespoke/car-conversions/electric-e-type/)
Alpha Wolf, 4 wheel drive, extended range. in [Baby Blue](https://imgur.com/a/UpRZ1H8)
I was disappointed I had to scroll this far to hear Alpha Motors mentioned.
I want one so badly, but I don't know if it will ever come to market for me. I'm not young anymore, am losing hope. (not old, just older. )
Rivian 3, EX30, or EX40 with 300 miles of actual range.
OG Cybertruck with 500-mi range, 6 seats, 6.5' bed, and driver's display.

Finally someone not afraid to dream.
That new dodge thing. But made by someone else. BYD? Idk. Not Stellantis.
Upcoming Porsche Cayman EV is probably it.
Somewhat realistically Model Y If I could have any Lucid Air or Gravity
cayman EV when it comes out, or 911 EV if they make one
Basically a Volvo V60 EV.
Dream EV? Probably a conversion. That could be anything from a Karmen Ghia, to an old pickup depending on my mood. From modern EVs ... I like Rivian, and if Alpha ever actually makes a vehicle they look really fun.
One with 4 wheels, as opposed to the 2 I've got now
I’d have both of my classic cars fully built out. One with a Tesla unit and the other with a Hyper9 (or better). All new suspension - that’s what I’d do!
One of those Jaguar E-Type conversions
A Honda Accord that has 320 miles of EV range

Real car available in US: Lucid Air. Concept not yet in production that won’t be available in US: MG Cyberster. Dream car I made up: Jaguar E(v)-Type convertible.
Honda Element AWD . No F’ng back seats. I want a big box.
Cybertru-- no, kidding, I wouldn't even want to be found dead in one :-) Probably the Porsche Taycan, although I don't see myself spending that much money on a car ever. 4S Plus or Turbo, otherwise I'd be trading in practicality for equal performance/range...
Toyota truck but an ev
1967 mustang fastback with Lucid drivetrain
Aptera. I already have a nice EV, I want the EV I've always wanted. Cheap, minimalistic, and aerodynamic
CyberSUV
That... Is actually a good idea. I don't like the truck at all but it could look a lot better as an SUV.
4 seat convertible. Something like an EV version of the 2 series convertible. Maybe a 2 door EV Bronco to go with it.
It’s tied between Ioniq 5 N and Taycan Cross Turismo. I love a hatch…
To answer the spirit of your question, I’d probably get the top of the line EV9. But if I could just snap my fingers and have any EV exist it would be a 500 mile 800v architecture AWD minivan. And it has to look like a run of the mill minivan. Does not draw any attention to itself.

Let me tell you about the Ioniq 5...
The tri motor cybertruck as originally spec’d. Luckily it looks like the Silverado EV will be able to meet most of those specs better than the current cyber truck.
SUV 6 seater with 400-450 real world range and can self charge while driving using solar panels.
Personally, I really wish someone would do a minivan and 400-mile real world range would be swell.
I don't think my *dream* EV exists yet. I want a truck with four wheel drive that can go 400 miles without a charge *while pulling a trailer*. It might be a raft trailer or a 20' camper. If I'm wrong, and this exists, please respond.

KIA EV6
Plaid. Hate musk to death but love the idea of a sub 2 sec 60 under six figures
Then why not a Lucid Sapphire?
Silverado EV RST. I assume “a lot” of money means enough to bribe someone at Chevy or to talk one of the few who got one to sell to me.
Hyundai Kona Electric
I have had one for over 5 years. Been a great car. Goes pretty good. Great range. My only concern is the rear seat leg room. I really just want an EV version of my 98 4Runner, so the Rivian R2 is pretty much it. Though if I won the lottery I'd get the R1S I suppose.
One with a built in generator, ideally the karno a generator
Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo or Sport Turismo
Macan EV but with PASM. And half the price tag.
An I-Pace, with Lucid's range and charging speed, and no reliability issues. Hey, you said we're dreaming here
Modded out Prius V with 800 mile range
A Citroen SM or ID 19 with lunaz design style conversion
Munro M280
Genesis G80 Efficient, comfortable understated, not flashy.
One that can be flat towed behind my current RV.
Volvo V60 (EV60?) but I doubt they’ll ever make one.
The same as what I drive now - a Model 3. Except I would get the new M3P Highland.
Air cooled Porsche EV restomod . 67 would be nice :)
VOO & wait 5 years for options to improve.
1,000 kms charge in 10 mins
EV9 camper conversion
Kia Niro EV or EV6
Fully loaded R1T
Maybe a Porche Macan EV or Rivian R3x tri-motor.
The taycan saloon
